ESS iViews HTML Long text description area page

I want to make an HTML for the long text description for an area page.... But how to make it Multi languague? I mean, I attach trhe HTML to the Area Page, and the HTML its on the KM defined by a resource. But this HTML have only one languague... Do I have to do it in Javascript and get the browser locale and transalte the text on the HTML?
could be another way?

Hi Vivek..
Go to Content admin -> KM Content -> Documents.
Upload ur HTML file here ... in any folder... Open Documents -> Public Documents
then Go to Folder-> New Upload and UPload the document.
Now to get URL of the Document..
From the context menu of the document uploaded, go to Details ->Settings -> Properties
Choose access links -> copy WebDav URL

Adding Special Texts XSS Area page translation to transport

Dear Experts,
How to add Special Texts XSS Area page translation to transport in SAP?
I maintained some translations for ESS through SE63 using Special Texts XSS Area page but i am unable to create transport for same via transaction SLXT and even can not see it in table LXE_LOG. Any pointers on this? Thanks in advance.

You need to find the entries in table T7XSSSERSTRLAN and transport the table entries.

Can not see long text description of a characteristics in portal

Hi experts,
I designed two queries via Query designer and published them to portal but I can not see the the long text description of "Name" attribute belongs to 0BPARTNER characteristics.
One of the queries shows only the last name of partner in portal while it is showing full name and last name in Bex Analyzer. The other query shows only the key value in both portal and Bex Analyzer.
I want to see long text description in both queries.
For an additional information, I'm extracting data from CRM 5.00 to BW 7.00
What will be the reason for this and how can I solve it?
Can anyone help me for this issue, it's a kind of emergency situation.

we have the same problem.
We want to change only in the screen variable the hierarchy text (from default to long\medium text) but even if there's a possibility to do this, really it doesn't happen anything - it' s possible when you start query, in the selection screen inside every the variable there's a command "User Settings" in which manage what you want to see (I put display custom, as text, medium text).
I try to do this also in query analizer, selecting variable (hierarchy) and enter in this (user setting), changing in display custom as text - medium text, but even if I save this settings, really doesn't happen anything.
It seems the system isn't sensitive to this selection...
By now, if someone has an answer, please write us!

Hi,
a) Find out for which table this long text is linked.
b) Go to TTXOB table and in the field TDOBJECT, check whether this entry is present.
c) If present, then use FM READ_TEXT, to get the long text value.
Important parameters to be passed in READ_TEXT
a) ID
b) Language (EN??)
c) Name ( I believe in this case it would be ZEILE)
d) Object (TTXOB-TDOBJECT value)

Limit to HTML Header text in APEX Page

I have an APEX page that has a fairly large amount of javascript in the HTML header. After I added some more, the page blows up. Is there a limit to how much you can add. It doesn't look like Page 0 has the limitation. Is there one one on either?
What is the best way around this? Adding the individual page javascript to Page 0 or creating a .js that gets included on that page only.

Large page sizes will DESTROY your perceived performance. High performance apps go way out of their way to improve page load times by:
- Minifying or compressing javasript
- Making sure it is cache-able
- Loading the minimum amount of javascript you need for the page to function, then "lazy loading" (background loading) the rest
- Lazy loading all of the JavaScript files you need for the app on the login page or first page to cache them
- Using gzip compression in the app server
- Using a Content Delivery Network (CDN)
- Reducing HTML size using CSS and other techniques

Let rows with long texts break between pages in tables.

I just spent the entire day trying to figure out how to do this very simple task, and just found out in the forum that the only way to do it is to manually create new rows whenever text is too long to fit. Even Word does this routinely.
Now I have to spend another day manually setting tables.
Sigh.

Blank Page Showing for ESS iView in Portal

Dear All,
I have here ECC 6 and EP 7, i have uploaded Business Package for ESS named BP ERP05 ESS 1.0 Support Package 07.
I have configured the Post Installation Steps and SLD.
I have Created System and system aliases in System Landscape in portal and also granted permission to the respective user.
I have also created user in ECC 6 and mapped the same with a Pernr.
I have also maintained the JCO connection namely
WD_RSDAS_MODELDATA_DEST (Already present)
WD_RSDAS_RFC_METADATA_DEST(Already present)
WD_MODELDATA_DEST(New JCO Connection Created)
WD_RFC_METADATA_DEST(New JCO Connection Created)
But when i view the ESS iView from the User then blank page is coming.
Every iView of ESS is showing blank page and also not error is being shown.
Kindly guide me if any setting is still pending from my end
for these iView to show results.

Hi Sidartha,
Deploy the SAP_ESS SCA file (SAPESS01_0-20000512.sca) file to get the ESS applications.
And also Deploy the SAPPCUI_GP SCA file (SAPPCUIGP01_0-20001215.sca) to get the xss framework on which ESS applications run.
SCA file for BP just has the iviews in which the ESS applicaitons run.
SO you have to deploy the above said .SCA files to get the applicaitons.

I am able to search using IW38 and IW37N by Order description short text. Is there a way for me to search the long text descriptions of PM orders?

The embedded Search functionality used in SImplicity 2 and 3 is offering to search via Long text.
With this you will find all the orders containing a certain longtext
even via traditional Matchcode you will get this
result
so when you use embedded search this functionality is available and configurable
The example shown is with order header longtext but this is possible as well with operation longtext

how do i get a shift report out of the PLM (plant maintenance) module that includes the following:
Work Order Number
Person Responsible
Time and date
Equipment
Hours Confirmed
Goods Movement
Long Text Description of what was done to correct the problem.
IW40 displays all the necessary fields that we are looking for with the exception of the long text description.

Displaying Long text of hierarchy in variable cell

Hi,
What I'm trying to do is get the profit center node variable to show the medium/long text description of the node within the Layout->Display Text Elements section(SAPBEXheaderItem) of the query.
I tried playing around with both the display and BEx Description settings in: InfoObject->Business Explorer->General Settings
I also tried to select the medium text setting within the query definition.
Any ideas?

Unfortunately, there is no possibility to change the length to more than 60. This is because all interfaces are based on 60 characters and the storage on the database is 60. Please refer to the attached SAP notes :

Dynamic text in Long text of message

Hi All
Can you please guide me that how dynamic text are maintained in long text of the messages.
I have used variable name between 2 ampersands 1.e. &var&..but its nt working. Where could be the mistake ?

The problem is... I want to show an error message. and when user double clicks on that message, a pop up screen should come showing the detailed description of that message which also contains some dynamic text...eg:
The message is "Please maintain ABC field for Company Code &1".
To this short text i want to give a long text description eg:
"For the Combination of Compay Code &2 and Account &3, ABC field should not be blank".
Dynamic text element in short text is working fine, but in long text it is showing &2 and &3..,, ie these are not populated with values.
Where could be the mistake ?

Service / Material Long text Repetation in PO Print,

Dear ALL,
I have a requirement where in the Service activities do have a Long text going up to 1 or 2 paragraphs, these long text gets printed in the POs getting created using this service activities,
but we mainly have many service activities having the same long text description, so when i use these 5-6 service activities in the PO, the service activity long text gets repeated 5- 6 times in the POs, it is filling the PO print page,
can we have a check to restrict PO long text appearing in PO print so that it is not repeated, can we have a check and option to choose which text from Service activity to appear and which can be restricted, any check or tick box which allows to have or not have a specific Service / Material master basic data Long text in print outs.
alternatively can we maintain Long Text at Material Groups level or is there any way to maintain and bring Long texts inside POs

Chek with your ABAPer to achieve the Requirement , I think most of requirement can be achieve through the form set up
But i doubt that you can maintain the long text in Material group level

Long Text --- 1000 characters

I have a report that is using ALV and one of my fields has to display a long text description of a material. My client has asked me to make sure that at least 1000 characters are displayed for a long text description. I have tried to explaing to my client that only 132 character can be displayed but insisted that he desparately needs 1000 characters....
