File Adapter Wizard - Native Format Builder - no spaces in header?

My project uses a vendor supplied, delimited text file. The first row of the file is a header, followed by data rows.  The problem is that the header elements contain spaces, Which are not acceptable by the Native Format Builder.
Has anyone experienced this before and know of a good work-around? Or, is this a known issue?

You can make use of the attribute "headerLines" in the top level "schema" tag. It would look something like this nxsd:headerLines="1".
This will skip first header line and will start from line number 2.

Hope it helps.

  • How to split a file by using Native Format Builder?

    Hi all,
    Please help me with this issue.
    In this project we need to split a file to save in the db.
    Following is the sample code and I would like to split this from 'BOH--------------' to 'BOT---------------' (as in BOLD)
    But as you can see sometimes 'BOT' line comes up multiple times so I need to skip few 'BOT's until I meet new 'BOH' line.
    I guess I have to use complex type in Native Format Builder, but I'm not sure how to..
    Please help me with this situation.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Firstly please ensure that the file that you are reading is bound to have a format of some sort.
    I will relate this to one of the requirement we did it in previous projects.
    We have a requirement to read a csv file coming in:
    1) It will be having records for Header (ODH) and Detail (ODL)
    2) The Header and Detail records will be repeated 'N' number of times in the input file.
    The schema we used it something as below to poll the CSV file:
    <xsd:schema xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:nxsd="http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/nxsd"
    xmlns:tns="http://TargetNamespace.com/ReadCSV" targetNamespace="http://TargetNamespace.com/ReadCSV"
    elementFormDefault="qualified" attributeFormDefault="unqualified" nxsd:parseBom="true"
    nxsd:version="NXSD" nxsd:stream="chars" nxsd:encoding="US-ASCII">
    <xsd:element name="Package">
    <xsd:complexType>
    <xsd:choice minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="unbounded" nxsd:choiceCondition="terminated" nxsd:terminatedBy=",">
    <xsd:element name="Header" nxsd:conditionValue="BOH">
    <xsd:complexType>
    <xsd:sequence>
    <xsd:element name="RecordAction" type="xsd:string" minOccurs="0" nxsd:style="terminated"
    nxsd:terminatedBy="," nxsd:quotedBy="&quot;"/>
    <xsd:element name="VisitType" type="xsd:string" minOccurs="0" nxsd:style="terminated"
    nxsd:terminatedBy="," nxsd:quotedBy="&quot;"/>
    <xsd:element name="OrderAction" type="xsd:string" minOccurs="0" nxsd:style="terminated"
    nxsd:terminatedBy="," nxsd:quotedBy="&quot;"/>
    <xsd:element name="Route" type="xsd:int" minOccurs="0" nxsd:style="terminated"
    nxsd:terminatedBy="${eol}" nxsd:quotedBy="&quot;"/>
    </xsd:sequence>
    </xsd:complexType>
    </xsd:element>
    <xsd:element name="Lines" nxsd:conditionValue="BOD">
    <xsd:complexType>
    <xsd:sequence>
    <xsd:element name="RecordAction" type="xsd:string" minOccurs="0" nxsd:style="terminated"
    nxsd:terminatedBy="," nxsd:quotedBy="&quot;"/>
    <xsd:element name="OrderCode" type="xsd:string" minOccurs="0" nxsd:style="terminated"
    nxsd:terminatedBy="," nxsd:quotedBy="&quot;"/>
    <xsd:element name="ShippingUnitNumber" type="xsd:int" minOccurs="0" nxsd:style="terminated"
    nxsd:terminatedBy="," nxsd:quotedBy="&quot;"/>
    <xsd:element name="ProdOptDesc" type="xsd:string" minOccurs="0" nxsd:style="terminated"
    nxsd:terminatedBy="${eol}" nxsd:quotedBy="&quot;"/>
    </xsd:sequence>
    </xsd:complexType>
    </xsd:element>
    </xsd:choice>
    </xsd:complexType>
    </xsd:element>
    </xsd:schema>
    So the approach we followed is as below:
    1) Design two DB tables. One to put the header records in Header table
    2) Put the detail records in Trailer table.
    3) Poll from these two tables to trigger next business requirements.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Deepak.

  • File Adapter - Native format Builder button not Appearing

    Hi,
    When We go through the file adapter wizard and on the screen where we define the schema, there is a button 'Native format builder'. But on Jdeveloper Version - 11.1.1.3.0, it is not appearing. Has this been removed in this release?
    regards,
    Rajesh

    at step 8 of 9 of the file adapter wizard, the icon appears as a cog, on the right, with caption "define schema for native format".
    I have JDev 11..1.1.3.0
    The problem might be with the version of the SOA extensions you have installed....

  • File Adapter - Native Format Builder

    Dear All,
    In File Adapter - Native Format Builder exists option "Number of rows to skip". But this means how many rows from beginning of file to skip,
    can somebody help to define how to skip n rows from the end of file.
    Thanks in advance!

    There is no option available to skip rows from end. But if you know how many rows are there in the file and how many you want to skip, then you can use the option of "Number of data rows to process" and process only number of rows you want to actually process.

  • File Adapter fixed length Native format Builder schema not reading the data as expected

    Hi
    We are using a File Adapter for reading a fixed length data. Using the schema we are able to read the file but the places are incorrect. Following is the schema that we used and the payload.
    At the last you can find our expected read of data how it should be.

  • Native Format Builder in File Adapter - NXSD:ConditionValue

    Hello,
    I am trying to build a schema using the Native Format Builder in the File Adapter. I am using the option "Multiple Records of different types"
    The CSV file will look like the one shown below, the first column will have either DS, Shipping or an alpha numeric value (not a static value). How should the condition value look like for a dynamic value?
    <xsd:element name="RECORD1" nxsd:conditionValue="OrderDetailSKU"> - Static value, the value SKU will not change
    *<xsd:element name="RECORD2" nxsd:conditionValue="1"> - This value differs per order, it can be any number or alphabet or a combination of a number and an alphabet*
    <xsd:element name="RECORD3" nxsd:conditionValue="DS"> - Static value, the value SKU will not change
    <xsd:element name="RECORD4" nxsd:conditionValue="Shipping"> - Static value, the value SKU will not change

    Hi Vlad,
    Thanks for the Idea, I tried using the Choice Condition and I am not sure what would be the condition, in my case, there are 3 record, the value in SKU will vary and differentiate the records. The first record (s) (based on no.of items in an order), the value in SKU column will be any value (alpha/numeric/alphanumeric), the next record will have "DS" in the SKU column and the next one will will "Shipping" in the SKU column. The example does look for "Yes" or "No" starting from the "70"th character in the line. I am not sure how to accommodate the condition to check whether the column* "SKU" contains an Item Number or "DS" or "Shipping". The poistion of the column "SKU" may vary every time, so I am not sure how to add a condition to verify that.
    Here is the Schema when I used "Delimited" in the choice condition,
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>

    Raw files from the new Nikon D810 will not open with either Photoshop CS5.1 or Lightroom 4.  When will a real Adobe solution be available to work with Raw (NEF) files in their native format, using CS5.1 and LR4?

    Clarification: this is a user forum; you are not addressing Adobe here.
    The answer to your question as phrased is: never.
    CS5 is history and it is not longer supported.  There will not be any updates or bug fixes for CS5.
    You need to convert the raw NEF files from your D810 to raw DNGs using the free, standalone Adobe DNG Converter 8.6 RC (beta), the first version ever to support that camera..

  • File Adapter Wizard Step 4

    I'd like to write out a message variable to a file. When I use the file adapter, the wizard asks for a schema in step 4. There is no xsd schema defined for the message.
    I tried using the "Schema is Opaque" checkbox to create the partnerlink but then I get a type mismatch between the message I want to write out and the opaque "Write_msg" of the adapter.
    What should I do to write out a message using the file adapter when there is no xsd? How do I get past step 4 in the wizard? Is there an example somewhere?
    Thanks,
    Bret

    Google's wsdl is available for download to the local file system. It's not available dynamically via an API, at least not that I've been able to find. Perhaps because they require you to sign a license agreement checkbox and access via an API would not satisfy their legal department? I guess we need a new WS* specification: WS-Legal or WS-Licensing.
    I did create my partner link just as you described. My local file is called GoogleSearch.wsdl and the partner link wizard creates a file called GoogleSearchRef.wsdl. But there is no xsd created.
    Maybe the only workaround is to chop the message definition out of the wsdl file and manually create an xsd. But that would be a severe support workload, since Google's wsdl may change from time to time and a new xsd would then have to be generated. Perhaps the process of generating an xsd from a wsdl could be automated. What do you think?

  • Saving existing files in their native formats

    It's really annoying that Numbers insists on saving in its own proprietary format. Is there a way around this and is there a chance that the default behavior would ever be changed?
    I've just had my first experience with Numbers since it was pre-installed on my new machine. I was opening a xlsx file a colleage had emailed me. I imagine that for many (business) users who don't create spreadsheets, this is a typical first interaction - opening an existing spreadsheet that somebody else has created. Business users are almost always using Excel or maybe you're opening a CSV because it came from a reporting system.
    After making a small tweak to an existing CSV or XLSX file, Numbers prompts you to save in a new format - thus creating another file - or you can delete the new version you made. This isn't very user friendly.
    Here's a common case. You might download an address template from a website in XLS or CSV and then fill it in and re-upload it. Workflow is very difficult in Numbers and especially so for a novice user. It's not intuitive to have to go to the export menu to save it in the same format it was already in.
    For some background, I run engineering at an ecommerce startup and I've used Excel, OpenOffice and Google Docs for years and typically stick to the latter two these days since they're free. We install OpenOffice on all our Macs to crunch bigger spreadsheets (vs Google Docs) and of course like that it's free.
    I realize that the native format has its advantages and Apple also has reasons for wanting to convert to their own format, but in some cases where fidelity isn't affected, saving changes to an existing file just makes a lot more sense.

    I was primarily looking for supported way to solve this use case but it sounds like that isn't available out of the box. In that case, no need to spend any more time looking into this. SG, your workaround is pretty admirable and that's a good idea, but it probably doesn't make sense usabillity wise when you could use a text editor if you were advanced enough as you mentioned or just use another program.
    Wayne, as you suggested, I submitted feedback from Numbers itself so hopefully that helps the Apple team understand this use case better.
    For internal use, it sounds like using another program is the most straight-forward way for this case (for average users). However, since we have a website with tons of Mac users, it's realistic that the default xls or csv handler on their system is Numbers so there won't be a way around that. Of course we can't tell users on our site to download a script to make saving a file any easier (since it would be harder), so I think the best thing is to give users instructions with the steps I outlined even though there are lot of them. It sounds like there's no better way for general users.
    Thanks for all your help guys!

  • Native format builder.To seperate body elements which are unbounded and also of different length ,which ends with special character LF if we open in Notepad++

    Hi ,
    My sample file is like this
    RAJNagercoil19910809
    JAMBangalore
    ABCNagercoil20120304
    ABBBangalore20120709
    TOM
    SAMBangalore20900909
    here first 3 characters of each line represents Name,next 9 characters represents city,next 8 characters DOB.
    Here everything is of fixedlength but all elements Name,city and DOB are optional they may or may not be in Sample file.
    here if we open the above sample file in notepad++ the end of line is represented by LF.
    My task is to separate the body elements given above into the following format
    <Body>
    <Name>Raj</Name>
    <City>Nagercoil</City>
    <DOB>19910809</DOB>
    </Body>
    <Body>
    <Name>JIN</Name>
    <City>Bangalore</City>
    <DOB/>
    </Body>
    <Body>

    <Body>
    <Name>SAM</Name>
    <City>Bangalore</City>
    <DOB>20900909</DOB>
    </Body>
    The schema i designed for my task is like below
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <xsd:schema xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"

    </xsd:schema>
    But it is not producing the result which i want .It is converting as follow.
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'UTF-8'?>

  • What is the role of Schema in File Adapter

    I am configuring File Adapter during the configuration step - 6 two options are there Schema is Opaque & Schema file url, what is the difference between these two and why it is needed? If It is required then what are the elements should be present at schema?

    +"If native format translation is not required (for example, a JPG or GIF image is being processed), then select the Native format translation is not required check box. The file is passed through in base-64 encoding.+
    +XSD files are required for translation. If you want to define a new schema or convert an existing data type definition (DTD) or COBOL Copybook, then select Define Schema for Native Format. This starts the Native Format Builder wizard. This wizard guides you through the creation of a native schema file from file formats such as comma-separated value (CSV), fixed-length, DTD, and COBOL Copybook. After the native schema file is created, the Messages page is displayed, with the Schema File URL and Schema Element fields filled in. • File-adapter with Dynamic Directory/Filenames in Header-variables

    Hi,
    I have looked through the file-adapter documentation. And it says that you can use wildcards/regexpressions/dynamic file and directory names using the file-adapter-wizard. Also you can use the header-variables to specify the file and directory names at run-time.
    Is it also possible to use the dynamic names using the header-variables?
    I want to create a process that I can give in the file/directory-names at run-time and that it will look for a file using the wild-cards to pickup. Since at run-time I often do not know the name of the file, since it might contain a sequence or date/time-stamp. But I do know the location and the structure of the file name (that is specified at config-time).
    The same question for outbound: if I specify a name in the header-variables with forexample '%seq%' in the name, like 'filename_%seq%.XML', will it then create the file with the sequence?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Martien

    Hi,
    I've been trhough this document over and over again, but did not find anything on how to do it actually. But I found out that the file-outbound-header wsdl does not contain a directory element after generation by the wizard. But you can add it afterwards.
    Also you can replace the location attribute in the jca:address element of the adapter-wsdl by mcf properties (host, username, password) and override them by copying the values to the partnerlink using bpelx:properties.
    I planned to put the details in my blog.
    Regards,
    Martien

    When i am trying to write information from DB to a file as a CSV format it is always writing into xml format, though it is named with .csv extension.
    When you want to write the File as html target i need to do a html encoding but how to do it in another format like .csv?
    Appreciate your help on this

    you can refer this..

    You need to create "JCA File Adapter with NXSD format definition" as mentioned in above link.

  • File Adapter Delimited File

    Hi All,
    I am writing a delimited file using the file adapter, i have built the XSD using the native format builder. Inside the BPEL, i get the data using a query, this query returns the data with delimited information between fields, but the output XSD came in such a way that there is only one element which holds the entire record. At runtime i get the information from database lookup and assign that records to invoke input variable of file adapter.
    XSD of target file adapter...
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <xsd:schema xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    xmlns:nxsd="http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/nxsd"
    xmlns:tns="http://TargetNamespace.com/ReadFile"
    targetNamespace="http://TargetNamespace.com/ReadFile"
    elementFormDefault="qualified"
    attributeFormDefault="unqualified"
    nxsd:version="NXSD"
    nxsd:stream="chars"
    nxsd:encoding="UTF-8"

    <xsd:element name="Root-Element">
    <xsd:complexType>
    <xsd:sequence>
    <xsd:element name="Child-Element" minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="unbounded" nxsd:style="array" nxsd:cellSeparatedBy="${eol}">
    <xsd:complexType>
    <xsd:sequence>
    <xsd:element name="C1" type="xsd:string" nxsd:style="fixedLength" nxsd:length="100" />
    </xsd:sequence>
    </xsd:complexType>
    </xsd:element>
    </xsd:sequence>
    </xsd:complexType>
    </xsd:element>
    </xsd:schema>
    So, the thing is file is getting written to, but the records are getting right aligned, as you can see the length is 100, so the file i am writing is coming like
    records starting with the spaces, but the data which i am getting doesn't return any spaces at the starting of the record, it has spaces in the middle and the end of the record. I want the records to be left aligned. Is there any property which i can set for the element in the XSD for the data that gets assigned to make it left aligned.
    Please help Experts.
    Thanks,
    Naresh

    You can see the option of adding padStyle as head.. More detail check the below link and search on padding option which helps u in alignment.
