General Settings Decimal Places

Good Day
Experts:
I have a request to make the Decimal places, for my Quantity and Price columns in a Matrix on one of our custom screens, have the same number of places as the list in General Settings\Display Tab.
For example, Prices has a setting of 4 Decimal Places.  How can I specify 4 Decimal Places in my datasource:
MatlReqForm.DataSources.UserDataSources.Add("U_EaCost", SAPbouiCOM.BoDataType.dt_PRICE)
Is there some kind of option with this command that enables specifying the decimal places?
Is there a way to dynamically check where the value on the General Settings\Display Tab is set at
and have the datasource take on that value when assigning it to a field?
Please ask clarification questions if my exlpanation of needs if not clear enough...
Thanks for the hlep,
Ed

Hi Ed,
What version is this client running? It sounds like a bug. UserDataSources are automatically linked to the General Settings. If you set a datasource to the Price type then it should automatically show with the same number of decimal places as the Prices setting in General Settings. There is no way to set the number of decimal places on a datasource directly. I have tested this on a 2007A system and it works fine.
Kind Regards,
Owen

  • Cannot Update Decimal Places in General Settings

When I try to update the decimal points in the Administration > System Initialization > General Settings > Display path, SAP B1 gives me the following error:
"Cannot update while another user is connected to the company."
I am the only one on the system as "manager" with "Super User" and "Full Authorization"...
The SAP B1 Guide titled "How to Make Initial Setting in Business One - US" says "you can change these settings at any time".
QUESTION:  What might be stopping this change, and more importantly, how do I get around this error to be able to change the decimal points?
    Thanks all - Zal

    Hi Zal,
I agree with you about the strange messaging used by SAP.
But blocking the possibility to decrease the decimal places is extremely important.
Suppose you have inserted a sales document with two items in this way:
Item 1 ___Qty 1,234  ___Unit price 1,22  ___Line total  1,51
Item 2 ___Qty  5,756 ___Unit price 3,15  ___Line total 18,13
    ____Document total 19,64
Then, someone wants to change the number of decimal places of the quantity from 3 to 2.
    What happens would be:
Item 1 ___Qty 1,23  ___Unit price 1,22  ___Line total  1,51
Item 2 ___Qty  5,75 ___Unit price 3,15  ___Line total 18,13
    ____Document total 19,64
If you try to do the calculations manually you will see that the results are not correct. In fact all the document would have to change in:
Item 1 ___Qty 1,23  ___Unit price 1,22  ___Line total  1,50
Item 2 ___Qty  5,75 ___Unit price 3,15  ___Line total 18,11
    ____Document total 19,61
Also if the document total will show correct (in the case of rounding the second decimal position of item 2), the totals of any line is wrong. In fact there is no recalculation at all in SAP (and must not be done).
Imagine such a modification over thousand of documents and all of the descendants (mainly if the have lead to printouts - as say confirmations - sent to customers or vendors).
None of the economic figures will match.

    Hello together,
I got a big problem with the settings of decimal places.
I know that I am only be able to incerase these but it's a virgin database for a customer with no data imported.
Everytime I want to increase the prices decimal places I get the following error message:
"cannot update while another user is connected to the company"
But I checked all sessions connected to this database. I am the only person that is logged in.
I closed the db more that one time but it doesn't work.
    Can you help me please?

    Hello Meike,
I have had this problem a while ago and it was caused by the RPD-connection i had made with the customer server.
I had to change the values directly on the client machine.
    Hope this also your solution.
    Kind regards.

I want to know which Decimal places setting i have to set for'Total'
Field in all Marketing documents.I want to know whether it come's under
    Prices settings or Amounts setting.

    Jambulingam,
The no. of decimals is set  in the Administration  -System Initialisation -  General settings - Display tab . There on the left hand side you can see the settings for decimals.
Since it is a total you wil have to set it for Amounts.

While creating the MIC in QS21 after entering the control indicators you will get Quantitative data screen.

  • Decimal places in Query generator

    Hi All,
I am observing a weird behavior in Query generator's execution of a simple sql query. the query is :
    Select 0.002834
now, in the general settings - display - amounts , I put the decimal value as 4 or 6,  then only it prints 0.0028 or 0.002834.
else it prints 0.00 (if the decimal place is 2). it should ideally have nothing to do with the display of amount. any idea?
(the effect is shown only after you change the decimal display, update it and close and reopen the SAP application.
    Thanks,
    Binita

    Hello Binita,
    >I have tried converting it to numeric(19,4) and numeric(19,6) but still the result was same.
Check your decimal places settings in
    \Administration\System Initialization\General Settings\Display tab
    Check the following values:
    - Units (For meaurement)
    - Decimals in Query
    Now let' s say,
    - Unit set to 6 decimal places
    - Decimals in Query set to 2
run the following query in query generator:
    select cast(0.000245 as decimal(19,6))
    result will be
    0.00
run the same query as FMS on item master data in any measurement field (lenght)
    select cast(0.000245 as decimal(19,6))
    result will be
    0.000245
Now set the - Decimals in Query set to 6 on  \Administration\System Initialization\General Settings\Display tab
run the following query in query generator:
    select cast(0.000245 as decimal(19,6))
    result will be
    0.000245
This is a normal habit of SAP B1 rounding engine / displaying engine.

    J.

  • Decimal places

Decimal places are defined in the general settings.
They are currently set to 2 decimal places.
We have the required for 5 customers to be priced and invoiced at 3 decimal places.
    Is this possible?

    Hi Lisa,
Please also notice the following information
When you tick the option: Rounding By: Currency from the Administration-System Initialisation-Document Setting window.
You could assign different rounding /decimal place per different currency
    ( Administration-Definition-Financial-Define Currencies)
    Hope this can be helpful.

  • Decimal places on forms

The decimal places in General Settings>Display is set to 6 for Amounts and Prices.  They would like only 2 decimal places to acutally print on the SO and AR Invoice.  How can we do this?

    Hi Kathy,
You can add another formular field with round(Field_XXX,2) to display only two decimal places for any fields. Then hide the long decimal field.
    Thanks,
    Gordon

  • Decimal places for JPY currency in change documents

    Hi Gurus,
For opportunities in SAP GUI the change documents for JPY show incorrect numbers.
The number is divided by 100 (two decimal places added).
Checked the CDPOS table and found the values already divided (two decimal places added).
SPRO->General Settings->Currencies->Set decimal places for currencies is set for 0 decimals for JPY.
Is there any way I can get correct values in the change documents?
Please advice. Any hint is useful.
    Thx,
    Martin Kuma

    Hi Naren,
Thank you for the tip, however the TCURX table is changed via customizing and should be changed only during the system initialization.
What I would like to do, is to assure that the system displays the values in change documents correctly. It should apply the currency conversion for the data displayed the same way it does for all the tables.
Do you have any idea, how should I do this?
    Regards,
    Martin Kuma

  • Can't update decimals in General Settings

Currently running V9PL11, with Addon InterCompany v2 for one head office and one branch. Logged in as manager.
I am trying to update the decimal places for Quantity and Percent in the general settings of the Head office as the branch's decimal place for these two fields is greater, and as to comply with the InterCompany's prerequisites.
When I press update I get the following error message:
"Cannot update while another user is connected to the company."
The only other user connected is B1i !!!!!!!
I disconnected the InterCompany Addon, logged out and back in, try the same update, but still getting the same error message.
Would anyone know the right method to get to update these decimal places.
Also, can someone talk to SAP and tell them how ridiculous this situation is?

    Dear Asif,
    Thank you for the information.
I logged all the users out from the SAP server and i stopped the SQL services and then re-started the SQL services again.
I logged into SAP b1, but was getting the same error message.
I removed the network cable of the server and I restarted the SAP server and then logged into SAP and tried to change the decimal places, but was still getting the same error message.
I'm all out of ideas, this has never happened before to me.
