Anyone aware if there is a hard limit on the enterprise distribution?
If I have the need to distribute to more than 1,000, is there a cap to which an Enterprise can distribute to?

64-bit versions of Windows 8 and Windows 7 are supported using the Boot Camp 5 Support Software. If you need to use a 32-bit version, you need to use Boot Camp 4 Support Software, and you must use Windows 7. 32-bit versions of Windows 8 are not supported via Boot Camp.

Signed up for enterprise distributions, but links are failing

Hi guys and gals,
I am filling the links after signing up to enterprise distributions for Acrobat Reader (and Air): Adobe - Adobe Reader Distribution.
However, when selecting Windows 7 - English - 11.0.10 - it eventually leads to http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/11.x/11.0.10/en_US/AdbeRdr11010_en_US.exe which fails to load.
(The same goes for Download Adobe AIR Runtime | Adobe - clicking on "Download the installer" for Air leads to a page that cannot load.)
Is anyone else experiencing these issues? I've expressed these issues to @AdobeCare, however they pointed me here.

Revenue Hard Limit for Program Projects Funded by a Single Agreement

Hello All
We have the following Scenario
1) Project A and B are Liked to each other using Program functionality or using Project-Sub Project Functionality.
2) We have one agreement of USD 100,000 funding both projects are funded in the way explained below
Project      Funding
Project A     40000
Project B     60000
Is there a way that can we can ensure that revenue hard limit is ensured at the Program level instead of the Project level?
For example
Given Project B has recognized revenue of 30000 USD can Project A recognize Revenue of 70000 as the total agreement is 100000 USD. Means Project A can consume funds allocated to Project B as these projects are interlinked. So that it is ensure that the total revenue recognized by both these projects is not more than 1,00,000 USD.
I am aware of manual reallocation Process of Funds, but is there a automatic way thru standard functionality.

You can set up the agreement with no hard limit, and develop a validation within a billing extension.

Selection of a mobile framework - for enterprise mobility app.

There have been many plethora of mobility frameworks (e.g Kony, HTML5 based frameworks) that have same features as Cordova - write your code once and run it on multiple platforms. Some are free,others are not. Having recently implemented enterprise mobility app (integrating with ECC, CRM) using one such framework, there are a certain I would like to consider before choosing a framework:
a) How easy it to build security into the app (the login module)?
b) How do I know that the requests for my data is an authenticated source?
c) How good is the vendor support with plugins, upgrades to SDK?
d) For frameworks that are free, do vendors really pay attention to issues that you are facing during (very specific to) your implementation.
e) Scalability of the framework to support the app with newer mobile OSs, mobility sets (Motorola, Micromax, Blackberry), tabs.
f) All mobile sets have limited memory at most to 2GB (or little more). How will the framework help in viewing huge amount of data that is there in SAP?
From my experience, I would say it is big pain, implementing a enterprise mobility app with open framework adhering with the go live dates.
SAP products are more easy to handle. A lot of featues comes inbuilt. Mobile apps comes as pre-packaged apps. One needs to customize it according to it needs. Product support from SAP is remarkable. Implementing and going live with such product becomes automatically easy adhering to the timelines. So is the maintenance. But of course comes the licensing price for SAP.

I love to work with SAP products and so i m in SAP. Having worked on several other mobile applications before , i can clearly see the ease in development of Enterprise applications using SAP products portfolio.
Often I have seem blogs in SCN, advocating for frameworks other than that of SAP. No harm
Please mention the blogs as a reference for more understanding. I can always only see Cordova / appcelerator being the recommended platforms by SAP for cross platforms development.

More over i have worked mostly on all the three for a while and have experienced the ease in development with cordova.
Also the HWC (Hybrid Web Container ) - the former way for developing hybrid applications on SAP Mobile Platform till 2.x has Cordova/phonegap plugins inbuilt in it. Literally it followed the approch of Cordova and ui framework was of Jquery Mobile .
But Now with the release of SMP 3.X things are completely under the control of developer. There are no restrictions to use a particular framework for development and developers are free to use their choice for development (SMP 3.x highlights BYOT - Bring Your Own Tools for Developers).
Adding to above , just would like to mention there are few products mainly focused and developed on cordova technology (KAPSEL plugins, Appbuilder, Fiori Client , River RDE in future integrating Kapsel plugins)
SMP 3.x is all open for developers , we are free to use any platform as per our requirements and convenience now.

My experience has been using Kony-SKY framework for developing the mobility apps (not mobile web). SKY plugins has been certified by SAP, to be used for developing mobility applications. (SAP does embrace other vendors). My questions pointed out above, was out of the struggles we had while implementing the project. Many at times, I felt I was reinventing the same tools while integrating into the SAP backends.
I am not a Kony guy, but will surely look into this and would check if i can help you.But out of my experience with Cordova /HWC/ Kapsel , it was satisfactory.
I presume you might have used/using SAP's Fiori apps, SAPUI5, mobile architecture and would like to gather some more information very specific to SAP's environment. I have no experience now on delivering apps using SAP's products. Maybe three months from now, I would get deep with 'SAP Fiori UX and SAP Screen Personas'. Maybe you could throw some light on few more queries.
Yeah , thanks to SAP for Fiori being out of License now and UI5 an Opensource. I have had the opportunity to also work and implement Fiori transnational applications and also develop Custom UI5 applications .
Note : Personas is really a good product , but on the down side is n't responsive in nature , so might not be a best fit for mobile devices

Typically Native Android apps are developed using Core Java.
Initially all the Core libraries of Android and java are loaded with import command

and Android uses the concept activities and layout for screen navigation and designing.
and by default any android project should have an activity and layout for launching the application, for which the code looks something similar to this

so , a Relative layout is initially launched as main view.
As mentioned in the blog in " How does it actually work section " cordova loads web views instead of the native layouts /activities
How Does it actually work ?
Technically the User Interface of a Cordova Application is effectively a WebView that occupies the complete screen and runs in the native Container. So , it is the same web view that is used by the Native Operating systems. This purely means that only the Native Containers changes according to the OS and internally the web pages remain the same. (Since the browser rendering of webpages are different for each operating systems)
For       IOS it is UIWebView class
             Android it is in android.webkit.webview
             Windows it is WebViewClass and the similar goes to other OS .
This line of code is responsible for that

Say a query is executed from a mobility app, say the result set is some 1000 rows, how does the data fetch mechanism work. Do you use some delta data fetch mechanism?
if i were to handle this , would try to filter this out to sections. Lets imagine huge PO s are resulted upon a query, i would try to create some sections/categories for Unreleased/Open/Approved /... and again try to perform some dynamic filter operations on each category selection/ or make use of pagination property to move across the items/records
Also user would not be interested to scroll and search for his item from a huge collection of items.
More over for handling of huge records Native approach is preferred to Hybrid/mobile web.
When a mobility connection snaps while the user is using the app, does the app stop immediately? Or rather how is user informed about non availability of the network connection?
Lets assume two cases here
1) Complete Online application
2) Online Offline Application
1) If user is trying to access the data from the application , since this being an online application , a proper network connectivity id to be checked properly before making any request .
for phone gap/cordova , Network Object helps us to check if network connectivity is available to make any request. else throw an alert to check the connectivity/ turn on the connectivity.
Similarly a Connectivity manager API exists for Android . Here is an example. Same would apply for other OS also.
2) For online - offline application . user wouldn't be able to read records from back end , but can perform other necessary operations on the device, and once the device gets connected to network, can sync with the back end . An alert should be thrown to inform the user about the loss in network connectivity and the limitations in accessing the data .
Build/release mechanism and subsequent tracking for mobility apps for periodic release of apps - say there would regular fixes to bugs, upgrades to framework SDK, device OSs might get upgraded - Is there a tool for tracking all these, etc
Yes. MDM tools are perfect fit for these. Afaria and Mocana are doing well now.
And, anything that you would like to share, related to SAPs environment, that makes implementation easier.
SAP Mobility is really booming and will grow , dominate in enterprise mobility in future.

CustomeUpdateUI for native AIR app installer

Hi,
We have a native installer for a windows and Mac AIR app.
For updates, we use the NativeApplicationUpdater code from:

After an update has been downloaded and launched, AIR shows a dialong prompting the user to "Replace" or "Cancel"
the update.
I would like to get rid of the dialog as this seems to include a redundant question for the user who chose to update from the first place.
I believe setting the <customUpdateUI> tag at the application decriptor file would hide the dialog, but that causes the update to just launch the existing app. How can I come up with custom logic that will cause the update to actually replace the existing app?

It does have half an answer. SWFs can request loading AIR applications so they suggested embedding a SWF on the page which would be able to launch your AIR application. Your link would need to fire off some JavaScript to use the ExternalInterface with the SWF to relay your request inside the SWF.
If you really want it on Windows for example then you'll need to register your URI, the example should be self explainatory:

Enterprise distribution app icon not updating

When overwrite installation is repeated to the application before change, an icon may not be updated occasionally, but a cause does not understand the application which changed the icon although the application was developed by in-company distribution.
Would you teach the cause and the reason, if it knows?

OneDrive for Business sync app when using Office 2010

Hi,
My clients use Office 2010. They all have SharePoint Workspace installed as well, thought, they don't use it.
As part of new SharePoint 2013 on-premise roll-out, I have to find a method to silently install OneDrive for Business into clients machines, without disruption to the use of Office 2010. They will use OneDrive for business to sync their team sites libraries
and their personal site library.
So far, I have no success.
What I tried:
-Standalone OneDrive Pro client exe Setup.x86.en-us_GrooveRetail_3V9N8-W93CC-FQPB8-Y9WVF-TVGJ3_TX_PR_.exe
It seems there is no way to run it silently anyway. Is there?
basically, this package still connects to the internet to download modules and it prompts user for some interaction while installing. I NEED IT SILENT.
-Building OCT package out of Office 2013 installation media. I selected to only install Groove(OneDrive) and leave existing Office product intact. Then I run it from setup.exe /adminfile //location/onlygroove.MSP
It provisions SkyDrive Pro client (note the name, I used Office 2013 without SP1 media)
Problems with that:
1.After installing Office 2013 SP1, client name is still SkyDrive Pro 2013, but sync folder actually changed, some other user interface places are also updated
2.After silent run, Office 2010 experience problems: Outlook 2010 crushes on start 3 times, then it attempts to run repair, Repair will fix outlook, but it also sets SharePoint workspace as a default client for sync. Running Office 2013 repair will break
Outlook again. The solution is to uninstall SharePoint workspace, then run Office 2013 repair, then Office 2010 repair again - this way I have SkyDrive Pro as a sync app and Outlook 2010 working.
As you see, I have problems with having seamless silent OneDrive for Business sync app installation. Even asking clients to install it manually would be too hard for them. Annoying thing is that if you click the exe file to run, it takes about 2 minutes
before user sees anything happening on a screen. I can see users getting confused if they actually initiated a process of not!
What am I missing ?
Any other way to provision it in bulk to my users? Any help appreciated.

It is seriously unacceptable, and I am having the same problems. Even running tests locally and I am a domain admin, I come across admin permission errors. I have tried amending the config file and creating a new one (onedrive_download.xml), creating a new
folder as a temp test and running the OneDrive for Business pack (extracted). These are the errors I get (on my own admin PC).

App "Installation Error" on N8

This is the 2nd time I'm facing this problem. Previously, I'd reseted the phone, and it was resolved.
So here's the problem: I'm getting "Installation error" for every single app installation on Ovi Store. Basically all the apps can be downloaded, but don't proceed to installation.
I've restarted numerous times and soft-reseted the phone. Any help on what I can do further? Maybe a hard reset?

When you say soft-reset for your N8 do you mean Settings > Phone > Phone mgmt. > Factory settings - restore or delete data and restore?
Whereas *#7370# is recoverable from not so three key depressed power on without a lot of faffing about, so please don't go down the latter route.

ROM Version and 8 gig limit for OS X

Hi,
My beige has a ROM version A.
I'd like to know if upgrading it to a ROM B or C will make any differences as to the limits os OS X need to be installed in the first 8 gig of disk space?
I know B and C ROM add the possibility to add multiple HD, but otherwise, I cannot say.

There are a couple of things to bear in mind if you're considering an ATA PCI controller card to get you around the 8GB limit that OS X imposes:
First, not all ATA PCI controller cards will trick your Beige into thinking your hard drive/s is/are SCSI. I used to have a Sonnet Tempo 100 ATA PCI card in my Rev. A Beige (which I've since replaced with an ACard AEC-6280M ATA 133 controller card) that ASP saw as an ATA card and any drives attached to it as IDE. As a consequence OS X imposed the 'less than 8GB' first partition limit for any OS X installation I did on IDE drives attached to the Tempo 100.
The second thing to bear in mind is if you're considering buying a SIIG UltraATA 133/100 Pro controller card (Part# SC-MP4A12, Model# CN2490):
Up until March 2005, SIIG used the ACard AEC-6280M card and rebranded it with their name. The rebranded ACards (Hardware Revision 1) will work fine in any Beige G3.
In March 2005 SIIG stopped using the rebranded ACards for their controller cards (I don't know if they changed suppliers or started manufacturing their own cards). The newer SIIG card, Hardware Revision 3 (there is no Revision 2 AFAIK) has the same part# and model# as the rebranded ACards but will not work at all in any Beige G3. According to SIIG their Hardware Revision 3 card requires a minimum of a G4, but I've heard that it will work in a Blue & White G3.
There is no indication on the SIIG box whether the ATA controller card inside is Hardware Revision 1 or Hardware Revision 3. The only way you can tell which revision it is is by eyeballing the card itself as the revision # is printed on the card.

Hi
Advance required on agreement form means the customer is willing to pay in advance some amount, before the project has been executed. The terms are entered on agreement level. The advance payment is entered in Account Receivables. Advances will later on be applied to project invoices.
Hard limit for revenue is checked and validated by the PRC: Generate Draft Revenue process. While revenue is generated for that agreement the system will limit the revenue amount, so the total accumulated revenue will not exceed the fund allocated to the project.
Hard limit for invoice is checked and validated by the draft invoice generation process, respectfully..

How can I set a cputime Hard limit on solaris 9 ?

I have few processes, which starts taking CPU on solaris machine, I want to set the Hard limit for time for
this process, how can I do that ?
I tried doing this with "ulimit -H 10" command but it gives me below error
"/usr/bin/ulimit[8]: ulimit: exceeds allowable limit"
this happens on both csh & ksh

I have a telnet & a netscape 4.78 process which is taking huge CPU intermittently.

A telnet process should almost never take up huge amounts of CPU. The only cases I've ever seen telnet do this is when something happens to its child processes (usually a login shell) and telnet doesn't handle it correctly. A similar theme with Netscape, Netscape should never chew up huge amounts of CPUs unless something is wrong with it - something wrong with Netscape ? NNNaaaahhhhhhhhhh ;>
In either case, you should see what the parent process it of each process is. In Netscape's case, if it parent process is init (PID 1), kill it without question. That should NEVER happen. You didn't say if the problem telnet was the client or server process, so I'll assume server. IBID on if in.telnetd parent process is init (PID 1). That should never happen.
In the June 2003 issue of Sys Admin magazine there is an article called "Solaris Resource Management - The Fair Share Scheduler" by Peter Baer Galvin. I think you should be able to view the article online once the next issue of the Sys Admin is out. Also take a look at the prctl man page. I haven't used this command much but something interesting shows up when executing "prctl $$":

Unless I misunderstand the question, you can't do what you're asking to do. Apple doesn't allow you to bypass their store and host public apps on a website. The exception is an enterprise app, which requires an Enterprise account with both Apple and Adobe. This type of enterprise app can be distributed only within the company. If that's what you want to do, you can learn more here:
