Help with favicon.ico!

I'm using SSL with tomcat and I'm having problems with firefox. When I log into the site using j_security_check I get forwarded to favicon.ico. IE doesn't have this problem, only firefox. I've done a little reading and I've seen people fix it under apache, but I can't find out how to make the change with tomcat.
help!

And, so, Merlin, what, in your infinite wisdom, led you to post this question in a Java forum?

  • FAVICON.ico in BSP with link  rel   =  "shortcut icon"....

    Hi,
    I built into my BSP a favicon.
      <link  rel   =  "shortcut icon"
             href  =  "favicon.ico"
             type  =  "image/ico">
    Sometimes it is indicated
    and sometimes not
    Do you know why?
    That is my Coding:

    <HTMLB:content     design            =        "DESIGN2003"

    Hello Eddy,
    thank you for your reply.
    The Icon is in the same place as the web page.
    Now I use this:
    <link  rel                 =        "shortcut icon"
           href                =
          "/default_host/sap/bc/bsp/sap/my_bsp/favicon.ico"
           type                =        "image/x-icon">
    But the same problem.
    When I call the Page from SE80 with F8 it is O.K.
    But when I call the "ALIAS-BSP-Name" from the Browser - no Icon comes.
    Sorry for my english - I hope you understand me...?

  • How do I get my favicon.ico to show in my site with firefox browser?

    I uploaded my favicon.ico to the root directory, it shows in Chrome, but not in firefox. I've cleared the cache, still not appearing, yet when I type mydomain.com/favicon.ico it appears in firefox.

    The problem is usually that the file size is too large or there are multiple images (layers) in the file or it is an unsupported format.<br />
    I can't tell more about without inspecting the favicon.

  • Favicon.ico on custom domain with .mac?

    I get that there's no direct support for favicon's -
    So what I've done is added the favicon.ico file to my
    domain in the root and site directories on my iDisk–
    but when I access the site it still shows the blue apple
    network gel as the favicon. I've even tried adding the
    shortcut code directly to the HTML- no luck.
    Also, is there anyway to add 'title' tags to a page?
    That seems pretty basic...
    Also, Also - where the heck is the local copy of the
    site on my drive?
    Thanks!

    So what I've done is added the favicon.ico file to my
    domain in the root and site directories on my iDisk–
    Create a favicon and add it to the root of the webserver.
    Then every webpage should have this code in the HEAD of the page. Something like:
    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="/wyodor/apple-touch-icon.png" />
    It cannot be entered in iWeb. You need a HTML Editor.
    Also, is there anyway to add 'title' tags to a page?
    The title of a webpage is based on the large textbox at the top of each iWeb page. It's already there. You do not need to add it.
    Also, Also - where the heck is the local copy of the
    site on my drive?
    ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites2
    Where ~ means your homedirectory

  • Need help with banner! revised

    Hello everyone,
    Thank you to everyone who attempted to answer my first post. But I realized my post was a little vague so I will try to apply more detail as to what I'm talking about. Ok I hope this sounds a little more clearer... I'm trying to add this banner to my page but it will not stretch the length of the page. When I
    insert the image it starts at about 3-4 inches from the left margin and will not stretch to the left only the right. I do not have a web domain yet but below you can find the html code of the page I'm working on. Also here is the free template I am referencing http://demo.templateworld.com/zero/in_action/aquatic/. I want the banner in the same position but I will change the image on the inside of the banner. I hope this can help someone diagnosis my problem and help me out. In advance thanks.

              <p>Saltwater aquarium set up takes time but it is exciting adventure.</p>
              <p>It usually takes 4 to 8 weeks before you can add any saltwater fish
    safely to your saltwater aquarium.</p>
              <p>I know it is disappointing to wait too long before you can start
    putting fish into your saltwater aquarium, but you wouldn&#8217;t want to risk
    losing them.</p>
              <p>Saltwater fish are quite pricey. So I would say that <b> patience </b>
    is the key!</p>
              <p>Before we move on to more details of aquarium set up, think about
    these things first:</p>

              <p>With these in mind, you can really start a plan on putting a
    saltwater aquarium together.</p>
              <p>Now, follow these simple set up steps and you will be on your way
    to creating a beautiful saltwater aquarium easily:</p>
              <a name="step1"></a><h3>STEP 1</h3>
              <h4>Choosing your Location, Aquarium Size and Aquarium Stand</h4>
              <img class="imgleft" alt="Saltwater Aquarium with Live Corals"
    src="index_files/custom_aquarium_setup_page.jpg" width="200"
    height="141">
              <p>The first step in saltwater aquarium set up is choosing a location
    that is nowhere close to natural lighting sources.</p>
              <p>Close to windows, entrance that has a clear door where sun rays can
    come in and patios are a <b> BIG NO! </b></p>
              <p>Intense sunlight can produce excessive algae which are a beginner
    aquarist's usual problem. A cooler room temperature that is
    well-ventilated would be the best.</p>
              <p>Choose a large enough location for your aquarium.  Set up a level
    and well supported area for your aquarium and stand and is highly
    preferred. Make sure to leave enough space for electrical connections
    and other equipments as well as around the aquarium for
              <a

    href="http://www.saltwater-aquarium-online-guide.com/selecting-an-aquarium.html"
    title="Selecting and Aquarium">Properly selected aquarium</a> will help
    in a successful saltwater aquarium and set up will be a breeze. It&#8217;s
    not as hard as it may seem. The first requirement is a proper glass
    tank! It&#8217;s a mistake to buy a small aquarium "just to get started."</p>
    <a href="http://www.jdoqocy.com/click-2737597-10532823" target="new"
    onclick="window.open('http://www.saltwater-aquarium-online-guide.com/cgi-bin/counter.pl?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ejdoqocy%2Ecom%2Fclick-2737597-10532823&amp;referrer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Esaltwater-aquarium-online-guide%2Ecom%2Faquarium-set-up%2Ehtml');

    alt="Ultimate Reef Aquarium Package" border="0" width="300" height="250"></a>
              <p>My suggestion is to get the largest aquarium you can afford.</p>
              <p>It&#8217;s actually better generally for first timers.</p>
              <p>But make sure it will fit your space and of course your budget!</p>
              <p>Larger aquariums are more forgiving of beginners&#8217; mistakes and
    provide a much more stable environment.</p>
              <p>If you buy a small aquarium, I&#8217;m pretty sure that you will just
    upgrade to a bigger one later on.</p>
              <p>
              </p><table align="left" cellspacing="10" width="200">
              <tbody><tr>
              <td cellpadding="5">
              <p class="nanocube">If you're really interested in starting a
    saltwater aquarium system but can't afford all the equipments right now,

              </tr>
              </tbody></table>
              <p>Surface area of the aquarium should also be taken into account in
    aquarium set up.</p>
              <p>Oxygen enters the water and, more importantly, noxious gases such
    as carbon dioxide escape into the air at the water surface. So the
    larger the surface area, the more efficient the exchange of gases will
    be.</p>
              <p>Another important consideration in aquarium set up is the shape of
    the aquarium.</p>
              <p>There are now too many unusual shapes to choose from in addition to
    the usual rectangular shape. From hexagonal to octagonal, bow-fronted
    and even trapezoidal aquariums are available.</p>
              <p>But they all have their problems. They can be difficult to light,
    the saltwater fish may find it hard to establish territories or even
    swim properly or make viewing distorted and are harder to clean. The
    surface area could be compromised by an unusual shape.</p>
              <p>Next is choosing something to stand it on. Choose a sturdy stand
    that is capable of supporting the weight of a filled aquarium.</p>
              <p>If you're looking for the <b>lowest priced</b> aquarium stands
    available, of course, there's a huge selection on E-bay. Below you'll
    see the five lowest priced items being offered right now:</p>

    And what I am saying is that the banner itself does not stretch. It is enclosed in the #mainPanBut I can't see your image files, so I can't tell you what that background image on the body of the page is supposed to be. You've had other responses that also say that the image itself does not stretch.
    Test my theory:
    Open your page in a browser (from Dreamweaver). Change the size of the browser window. See what happens with the banner.
    The other thing you should do is compare the size of the images you are using with the size of the images in the template. If they are not the same size, you will see a difference in the way your page acts vs the Template World page.
    But really, it is nearly impossible to troubleshoot a page that one cannot see the actual code of...not a print of the code, but the page and code in action.
    If you want to show a screenshot, check the instructions in the Forum. Your image this time did not show up.

  • Need help with overlapping divs!

    Hey everyone,
    I'm working on another website and I have come up against a common problem for newbie designers from what I hear, the dreaded overlapping div problem!  I have a 2 column fixed layout with a floating left div.  My left div has my nav bar and various images.  When my main content div has more content than the left floating div, the left div border does not reach the footer!  Until now, I have gotten by with just hitting return in my left column div until it reaches the footer.  I am sure it is not the right way to do it but it has worked so far.  The problem is, now one of the pages has the left column div overlapping onto the footer!  I did some reading and I am guessing it involves either the box properties or clear float which I am not too familiar with.
    Any advice would be stellar!  I know this is just another stumbling block to get over but I would feel so much better if I was doing it the right way.
    Here are screens of my issue,
    And here is my code for the page in question.

        <div id="paragraphFloat">
          <h5>What Is Radon?</h5>
          <p> Radon is a cancer causing radioactive gas. You cannot see, smell or taste radon, but it may be a problem in your home. The Surgeon General has warned that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States today. </p>
          <div id="apDiv1">
        <div align="center"><a href="http://www.epa.gov/radon/video/epa-epu.wmv"><img src="_images/psa_revised.jpg" alt="What Is Radon?" width="200" height="172" border="0" /></a></div></div></div>
        <p>If you smoke and your home has high radon levels, you're at high risk for developing lung cancer. Some scientific studies of radon exposure indicate that children may be more sensitive to radon. This may be due to their higher respiration rate and their rapidly dividing cells, which may be more vulnerable to radiation damage. </p>
    <p> </p>
        <h5>Why Is It Dangerous?</h5>
    <p> The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) and the Surgeon General's Office have estimated that as many as 20,000 lung cancer deaths are caused each year by radon. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer. Radon-induced lung cancer costs the United States over $2 billion dollars per year in both direct and indirect health care costs.</p>
    <p>According to the US EPA, nearly 1 in 3 homes checked in seven states and on three Indian lands had screening levels over 4 pCi/L, the EPA's recommended action level for radon exposure.</p>
    <p>The alpha radiation emitted by radon is the same alpha radiation emitted by other alpha generating radiation sources such as plutonium.</p>
    <p>A family whose home has radon levels of 4 pCi/l is exposed to approximately 35 times as much radiation as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission would allow if that family was standing next to the fence of a radioactive waste site. (25 mrem limit, 800 mrem exposure)</p>
    <p> At the 4 pCi/l EPA action guideline level, radon carries approximately 1000 times the risk of death as any other EPA carcinogen. It is important to note that the action level is not a safe level, as there are no &quot;safe&quot; levels of radon gas.</p>
    <p> </p>
    <h5>How Does It Get Into My Home?</h5>
    <p> Radon is a radioactive gas. It comes from the natural decay of uranium that is found in nearly all soils. It typically moves up through the ground to the air above and into your home through cracks and other holes in the foundation. Your home traps radon inside, where it can build up. Any home may have a radon problem. This means new and old homes, well-sealed and drafty homes, and homes with or without basements.</p>
    <p> Radon from soil gas is the main cause of radon problems. Sometimes radon enters the home through well water. In a small number of homes, the building materials can give off radon, too. However, building materials rarely cause radon problems by themselves.</p>

    <h5>What Can I Do?</h5>
    <p> Radon is a national environmental health problem. Elevated radon levels have been discovered in every state. The US EPA estimates that as many as 8 million homes throughout the country have elevated levels of radon. Current state surveys show that 1 home in 5 has elevated radon levels.</p>
    <p> Testing is the only way to know your home's radon levels. There are no immediate symptoms that will alert you to the presence of radon. It typically takes years of exposure before any problems surface. </p>

    <h5>Radon Myths</h5>
    <p><strong><em>MYTH:</em> Scientists are not sure that radon really is a problem.</strong></p>
    <blockquote>
      <p><strong><em>FACT:</em></strong> Although some scientists dispute the precise number of deaths due to radon, all the major health organizations (like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the American Lung Association and the American Medical Association) agree with estimates that radon causes thousands of preventable lung cancer deaths every year. This is especially true among smokers, since the risk to smokers is much greater than to non-smokers.</p>
    </blockquote>
    <p><strong><em>MYTH:</em> Radon testing is difficult, time-consuming and expensive.</strong></p>
    <blockquote>
      <p><strong><em>FACT:</em></strong> Radon testing is easy. You can test your home yourself or hire a qualified radon test company. Either approach takes only a small amount of time and effort.</p>
    </blockquote>
    <p><strong><em>MYTH:</em> Homes with radon problems can't be fixed.</strong></p>
    <blockquote>
      <p><strong><em>FACT:</em></strong> There are simple solutions to radon problems in homes. Hundreds of thousands of homeowners have already fixed radon problems in their homes. Most homes can be fixed for about the same cost as other common home repairs; check with one or more qualified mitigators. Call your <a href="http://www.epa.gov/radon/whereyoulive.html">state radon office</a> for help in identifying qualified mitigation contractors.</p>
    </blockquote>
    <p><strong><em>MYTH:</em> Radon affects only certain kinds of homes.</strong></p>
    <blockquote>
      <p><strong><em>FACT: </em></strong>House construction can affect radon levels. However, radon can be a problem in homes of all types: old homes, new homes, drafty homes, insulated homes, homes with basements, and homes without basements. Local geology, construction materials, and how the home was built are among the factors that can affect radon levels in homes.</p>
    </blockquote>
    <p><strong><em>MYTH:</em> Radon is only a problem in certain parts of the country.</strong></p>
    <blockquote>
      <p><strong><em>FACT:</em></strong> High radon levels have been found in every state. Radon problems do vary from area to area, but the only way to know your radon level is to test.</p>
    </blockquote>
    <p><strong><em>MYTH:</em> A neighbor's test result is a good indication of whether your home has a problem.</strong></p>
    <blockquote>
      <p><strong><em>FACT:</em></strong> It's not. Radon levels can vary greatly from home to home. The only way to know if your home has a radon problem is to test it.</p>
    </blockquote>
    <p><strong><em>MYTH:</em> Everyone should test their water for radon.</strong></p>
    <blockquote>
      <p><strong><em>FACT:</em></strong> Although radon gets into some homes through water, it is important to first test the air in the home for radon. If your water comes from a public water supply that uses ground water, call your water supplier. If high radon levels are found and the home has a private well, call the Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-426-4791 for information on testing your water.</p>
    </blockquote>
    <p><strong><em>MYTH:</em> It's difficult to sell homes where radon problems have been discovered.</strong></p>
    <blockquote>
      <p><strong><em>FACT:</em></strong> Where radon problems have been fixed, home sales have not been blocked or frustrated. The added protection is some times a good selling point.</p>
    </blockquote>
    <p><strong><em>MYTH:</em> I've lived in my home for so long, it doesn't make sense to take action now.</strong></p>
    <blockquote>
      <p><strong><em>FACT: </em></strong>You will reduce your risk of lung cancer when you reduce radon levels, even if you've lived with a radon problem for a long time.</p>
    </blockquote>
    <p><strong><em>MYTH:</em> Short-term tests can't be used for making a decision about whether to fix your home.</strong></p>
    <blockquote>
      <p><strong><em>FACT:</em> </strong>A short-term test, followed by a second short-term test* can be used to decide whether to fix your home. However, the closer the average of your two short-term tests is to 4 pCi/L, the less certain you can be about whether your year-round average is above or below that level. Keep in mind that radon levels below 4 pCi/L still pose some risk. Radon levels can be reduced in most homes to 2 pCi/L or below.</p>

    Please if anyone knows what I'm doing wrong please please let me know!  Since I am learning, I really want to get main concepts like this down so I am not constantly doing things the hard way!  Thank you!
    Jayson

    1) Regarding validation, what does it do?
    It validates by telling you where your code isn't er... valid.  Sometimes the results are a bit jumbled but if you work through them one at a time and revalidate, it's a good way to learn.  If you fix all of the errors shown up through the validator you should end up with standards compliant code.  Not necessarily the best, most efficient code you can write but at least it will be valid and it helps you spot errors that hours of code-staring never seems to find.
    I don't use the DW validation tool because I find the W3c one easier.
    The W3c validator has a check box of HTML Tidy which can tidy up your code but it's not always as easy to see what changes.
    2) I know the <p> tag for spacing is wrong, I could just feel it in my bones.  I just didn't know what else to do.  If I <br> all the way down won't the code be just as cluttered?
    You're obviously a born web coder!
    <br> will bloat your page if you use them to position elements.
    Here you need to get used to a) the Block Model and b) CSS positioning.  Once you crack these, CSS opens up for you and becomes a little more intuitive.
    if you have two elements on top of each other rather than push them apart with other elements you do it with padding and/or margin.  There are things to watch out for here namely, collapsing margins but if you start to read up on the above, you'll get it.
    I just thought of something.  If I add a div in main content, align it to the bottom center with CSS, use a line break between it and the text above, and add the image in question in the new div, will the spacing between the text and image work itself out?  I just really want to get out of the <p> bad habit.
    Keep thinking!  Web design is not like desktop publishing or print.  Elements on a HTML page don't behave like paragraphs on a page.  Once you begin to figure out why not it all gets a little easier.
    If you want an image at the bottom an element you put that at the end of the content in that element.  Then you need to ensure there is no margin, padding or border between the img element and the next element (your footer).  HTML elements come with some styling that is applied by default in the browser.  Many web developers include a rule like this:
    body {
    margin: 0;
    padding:0;
    This sets the margin and padding to zero of course and it's purpose is to override the defaults.  Some people advocate applying similar rules to all elements and if your interested try googling Eric Meyer who has written about it online.
    One of the key purposes of CSS is to take styling out of the page.  It's leaner, more efficient for the viewer and the coder and helps with site management.
    3) AP divs are weird, and I did only use as a last resort.
    See? You're a natural!
    The reason is I am confused by the float and clear float classes.  My left column is floated left and that element is what I was having problems understanding.  I tried to make new divs and float right but I screwed it all up.  I am sure I am just not applying the clear float in the right places.
    Getting the hang of floating is key to CSS positioning.  You use a float if you want two elements to sit side by side on the page.  It disrupts the "document flow."  Ordinarily HTML elements are rendered one after the other, on top of each other.  Floating an element takes it out of the document flow and allows other elements to occupy its space.  When you float an element it should always have a width.  If the element below it also has a width, that width has to be sufficiently narrow to allow it to occupy the space.  In short, floated elements can't be wider than their containing element.
    The clear property is used after a float to stop an element occupying the space left by a floated element.  It works but confuses the heck out of me!
    So that leads me to my final point.  I am a novice too!  I might have fluffed a few of the technical points above but it's pretty much there.

    Martin

  • Help with Wordpress in Live View

    I have recently started attempting to use Dreamweaver to customise Wordpress themes, following the guidance given in this article:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/dw_wordpress_pt1.html
    However, despite following the advice precisely, I've encountered a problem. When I add an image to the header (following the method described on page 3 of the article), it does not display in Live View, nor does it appear in my web browser. Instead, as you can see (circled in red) it simply displays the icon for a missing image. In my browser, the alternate text is shown instead. So, in short, the image is missing.
    The open file is index.php, opened from the root (htdocs) as specified in the article. I note from the comments on page 3 of the article that several people have experienced the same thing. One user reports solving it by placing the image in the images folder in the root directory, instead of within the theme directory. However, this seems odd for two reasons - one, as I understand it, it's not how Wordpress themes generally work (though I can understand having another 'images' folder in the root for working purposes), and two there is no images folder in my root directory. So, I have a few questions - the general one of what's going on and how do I fix, plus the specific question of whether or not there should be an images folder in my root directory? If so, why isn't it there? Any help greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Matt

    I'm sure it is a path issue - the code in the header file supplies a path of images/banner_logo.gif as you can see. This is obviously causing the problem in some way because the set-up with Dreamweaver demands I open the index.php file from the root, but my quandary is that the path as it stands is sort of 'correct' in terms of how Wordpress should usually work, is it not? I obviously don't want to be creating absolute links for the sake of Dreamweaver that create additional problems (or simple redundancy) when I upload the theme.
    The image is where it should be, relative to header.php:
    Here's the Live Code - will supply CSS if needed but not sure it's the issue:

  • Safari stops loading many pages: ../favicon.ico not found

    Recently Safari doesn't complete the loading of many pages.
    The status bar reads for example ... completed 34 of 35 items.
    In some cases the page appears.
    When I click a sub-topic on the page (i.e. in a forum) the link fails to load.
    If I then click the stop/reload the selected link shows up, but fails to show the pictures (i.e. also incomplete)
    In the activity window of Safari
    http://www.......at/favicon.ico is listed as not found
    Could there be a connection??
    With Firefox these pages open without a problem.
    My MacBookPro loads them without a problem using Safari over the same network.
    I would appreciate your help.
    Thanks,
    TOM from Innsbruck

    Hello Starman!
    Good news: Thank-you for the quick reply
    Bad news: it didn't help.
    I have tried most of the recommended tricks - trashing:
    com.apple.Safari.plist and
    com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist
    I have reinstalled Safari through the MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.8PPC.
    I have tried both the Universal and the PPC version.
    At the moment I am using the Universal 2.0.4 version.
    There is no difference. The problems remain the same.
    Any other suggestion?
    Thanks,
    TOM from Innsbruck

  • Favicon.ico image does not display consistently for our application,

    Hi,
    We have configured a favicon.ico for our application as below code snippet and referring to the favicon.ico image correctly. The icon file is available in our war file post deployment. The problem is some times it displays correctly and sometimes it does not display correctly.
    <af:outputText value="&lt;link rel='SHORTCUT ICON' href='#{facesContext.externalContext.requestContextPath}/images/favicon.ico'/>" id="favicon" escape="false"/>
    Can anyone point to any issue related to browser caching or application server caching and any possible fix to this intermittent behavior.
    regards,
    Chandra.

    Browser caching might be a problem, but we can't help as it is a browser issue. All I can say is to clear the browser cache and see if the problem can be reproduced. If yes it doesn't look like a browser problem. Then you have to check if you are connection via proxy which might cache images too. Ask your network admin for help then.
    Do you see this problem only with one browser? Have you check other browsers?

  • Why won't my favicon show up when the code and the favicon.ico file are correct? I am using Dreamweaver CC.

    I have tried numerous .ico file makers and am using the code <link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico" /> in the <head> section and the favicon.ico sits above the index file, but it is not showing up on the tab in Firefox or IE. I have also tried numerous designs, as I thought that might be the problem -- here are a couple and . What am I doing wrong? I have tried everything and Googled everything. I also use PC, but I hope that doesn't stop the Mac users from helping me.

    Thank you Jon. As I mentioned to Nancy, the Favicon finally showed up this morning. But also thank you for another time saving piece of advice that saved me a lot of time and effort and is not mentioned anywhere. You are so right, "There's really no reason to add the code in the <head> if the favicon.ico is in your site root. Simply placing it there will do the trick in all browsers." I only put the code on my index page because I wasn't sure it would ever show up, and lo and behold, when it finally did this morning, it did on all pages and they had no code.
    It is unfortunate that on all the websites (and I read what felt like all of them) dealing with Favicons, no one mentions these points. It's simple
    create the 16px by 16px favicon.ico
    Place it in the site root
    Empty your cache and bookmark the page
    Wait -- it will show up, possibly the next day.

  • Can someone help with a div that pops up when you hover over a button?

    I made a div that pops up (stacked on the rest of the page) when you hover over a button (gigs). It works in the safari preview but when I test it online it doesn't. It's above the logo instead of blocking it and on the left site instead of the right. And when you open the page it isn't hidden like in the preview. Does someone know what is wrong?
    The test page: Stuff

    Below code, onclick of 'GIGS' shows pop-up window. You then have a 'close' button which when clicked closes it.

  • Where do we put the favicon.ico?

    I know that we have to put it in our file in idisk but where exactly?
    Thank you
    Odette

    If you're hosting your site with MobileMe and have a domain name which you're forwarding with CNAME forwarding you just put the ico file in your iDIsk/Web/Sites folder.
    If you're hosting to a 3rd party server you put the file in the same folder/directory that you upload your site to.
    If you're hosting your site to MobileMe without a domain name put the favicon.ico file in the iDisk/Web/Sites folder and add the following code to an HTML snippet on each page:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var head = parent.document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0];
    var favicon = parent.document.createElement("link");
    favicon.rel = ("shortcut icon");
    favicon.href = ("http://web.me.com/your_MobileMe_Account_name/favicon.ico");
    head.appendChild(favicon);
    </script>

    Regards,
    Joshua

    Can you try accessing the favicon.ico by typing the URL in the address bar of the browser, the reason I am asking you to do this is to isolate the issue. Few things to observe for:
    - when you access favicon.ico by typing the URL in browser, check are you getting the INFO message
    - if you are not getting the INFO message while you do above, it means it is from some other location URL is causing this INFO message?
    - check the access.log, check the URLs
