MY IPOD XMAS GIFT HAS MUSIC GENERATED ON A MAC. ITUNES WILL NOT RECOGNIZE IT ON MY PC WITH WINDOWS 8.1 UNLESS IT IS RESTORED WHICH ITUNES STATES WILL WIPE OUT ALL EXISTING +1000 TUNES. WHAT OPTIONS DO I HAVE?

Thanks for the question. You can transfer certain types of media from your iPod to a new iTunes library. These include music, movies and TV shows that were purchased from the iTunes Store. If you have music imported from a CD or other source, iTunes can’t transfer this media back to a computer:

Sadly the iTunes Store was not released until Mac OS X. You'll need Mac OS X 10.1 and iTunes 4 minimum to get to the iTunes Store on your iBook G3 and the ability to download any podcasts from the store. Since Mac OS X 10.1 wasn't that stable, and few software titles exist for it, I recommend upgrading to a minimum of 10.3.9 which supports iTunes 7.7.1.
Your Blueberry iBook may or may not be compatible with 10.4, as this tip explains:

If you can get 10.4, you can get iTunes 9.2.1.
You will not be able to sync your phone with the iBook regardless of Mac OS X version.
Your iBook is too old to install an Airport Extreme card, so it can't securely hook up wirelessly to your wireless network. You'll want a ethernet WiFi bridge that supports a minimum of 802.11g to hook up to the iBook via ethernet. An Apple Airport Extreme base station can act as one as well via its LAN ports.

How can I get iTunes 10.1.1 to let me select an older backup to restore?

I recently upgraded my 3G from iOS 3.2 to 4.2.1. I backed it up before I started, and then the upgrade software backed the phone up again.
However, once the upgrade was complete, the data on my phone was rolled back to July '10. In other words, iTunes restored an older backup -- and in the process lost all of my photos, contacts, chats, etc. from the past six months. GRR.
When I look in ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup, I can see several backups from the date in question. But the very earliest one (which is the one I want) does not appear in the Restore Selected Backup list.
The backup I want DOES appear in the Device Backup list under Preferences > Devices.
How can I get that backup to appear in the Restore Selected Backups list? Or is there some other way to restore the correct backup?

Believe you hold shift down before clicking restore.

alright well heres the deal ever since i updated my itunes its been saying my ipod is corrupted and wouldnt update it...EVER...so i tried pluggin it n unpluggin it bout 5-9 times to c if it wud work again..i gave up and just restored it...and now it gives me an "the contents of this ipod cannot b read" and it says to restore it..but the ipod does not show up in the preferences tabs or in the source list...so i dont kno how 2 restore it...HOW CAN I GET MY IPOD WORKING AGAIN?!?!?!?!?!?!? plz help =(

Here's the story:
The Pod is in disk mode; it shows up in My Computer but not in iTunes. I followed the steps on the site-- i restarted Ipod Service, reinstalled iTunes, and still no luck.
A little while ago, I tried to restore my Pod, but the restore process went on for days before I finally said forget it and exited itunes and disconnected the pod, only to find it hadn't been restoring at all and all my info was still on the pod.

- I killed itunes, podservice, helper, etc. ran itunes, still didn't recognise pod.
- I only have one computer. (But I will try it on my friend's next time I get a chance.)
- 06-28 updater just says that it's no longer supported and I must use itunes 7.0.

Thanks, Skydiver. I've done that, and we are working on it. So far everything deadends at the "This account has not been used on iTunes. Please review your account," or similar. When I don't select a title, it's over, even though the information is all correct. My billing has no title. I can't download anything, and you know everything is tucked away behind that account. I tried to sign up with a new ID, but I am living in a foreign country and must use the same credit card. Not that it matters; all of them have the same name and address, sans title. We'll see.

I have upgraded to OS5 and iCloud and now I cannot update my apps. It asks for my iTunes password and then says it is incorrect. I changed my password but it will still not accept it. I am able to sign in on Apple.com with the password. Anyone else have this problem?

If you changed your password but not your Apple ID - Try this ...
Go to Settings>Store>Apple ID - tap sign out. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Then go to Settings>Store>Apple ID and sign in again. See if that works.
Your ID is associated with the app purchases so if this doesn't work, try using the old ID/password to update the apps.

How can I get iTunes to NOT fill iPod shuffle in reverse order?

Any ideas?? iTunes loads my iPod shuffle in the reverse order when I drag tracks from my Music Library to my iPod. This is important because I like to listen to audiobooks during my workouts. All I want is to listen to the first track first and not the last track!
It seems as if the issue arose when I updated to the latest iTunes (7.1.1.5). The previous version worked just fine for me.
I reloaded a book that I listened to previously. Although it loaded up several weeks ago OK, now it too loads the tracks in the reverse order.

After a couple of days, I'm noticing that the repeat(ing) offenders have more than 10 episodes, and seem to keep repeating them every time I sync.
They only show once in my phone and in the iTunes Podcasts, but through iTunes and looking at what's in my phone is when I see the repeats.
Even after I've marked a podcast as played, and deleted it from within my phone, as well as telling iTunes to delete the played episodes, it still shows multiples of the played episodes.
There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it either. They aren't the newest ones either.

Unfortunately, ANY signs of 'neglect or damage' automatically become the cause of any issues you're having. As in it doesn't matter if your screen was flickering before it was dropped, when they see the dent or cracked screen, that screen flicker was caused by the drop. Because they have no way to know if you are telling the truth (it's nothing personal, they just literally dont' know) so any signs of damage become the reason for your issue. The only way out of that is if you had taken in your iPad and, even if you didn't get it replaced, an apple employee can have documented that yes, that issue existed before the drop.
It's not fun, I know, but that's just how it is. Any signs of 'neglect or damage' and that 'neglect or damage' is the cause of your issues.

How do i get itunes to connect to my phone on recovery mode without having to put in a passcode?

i turned on my iphone holding the home button and connected it to my computer, on the screen it said connect to iTunes. iTunes then opened up on my computer and I pressed start recovery mode. on the top it started loading 1 item, half ways through the download it said iTunes could not connect to my iphone because of the passcode and I must enter it before I can connect with iTunes. I cannot enter my passcode because my iphone says disabled and to connect to iTunes, I also do not know my password.
