How do you set up iTunes 10.5 on a new computer?, How do you set up iTunes 10.5 on a new computer?
I have a new computer with Windows 7, Outlook and I use iTunes with an Apple iPhone 4 and a iPad. My devices have iOS5. How do you set up iTunes 10.5 on a new computer and sync these devices. I have already downloaded iTunes 10.5 on my computer. Also, I use MobileMe. Thanks for your help. LCP
Thank you for your response. I have all of my files, etc. and am sitting here on the old computer. I just wasn't sure if I should simply save the iTunes program I am using or insall a new version.
After I get iTunes onto my new computer do I authorize the new computer before I plug in my IPod or after?
I'm sorry I didn't point out that I had all of my files available. For some reason, working with iTunes and my iPod make me nervous.
Thanks again.

Notes on Transferring OverDrive MP3 Audiobooks…
Most MP3 capable devices should play OverDrive MP3 Audiobooks.
If you intend to transfer OverDrive MP3 Audiobooks to an Apple® device, note the following…
iTunes® v9.0.2 (or newer) is required.
The Apple device must be formatted for use with Microsoft® Windows®.
The iTunes setting 'Manually manage music…' must be enabled for the device before you can complete the transfer. Adjust this setting in iTunes as follows…
Connect the iPod® to your computer.
If it does not launch automatically, open iTunes v9.0.2 (or newer).
In iTunes, locate the device in the left vertical navigation panel (under heading 'DEVICES'), and click the device.
The 'Summary' screen is displayed.
Place a checkmark next to 'Manually manage music…'.
Click the 'Apply' button.
The iTunes 'Summary' screen refreshes, and the changes are saved.
If desired, close iTunes.
Note that if an Apple device is connected to your computer, you can choose to simultaneously transfer a title to the iTunes Library and the Apple device. If you wish to only transfer a title to the iTunes Library, you must first disconnect the Apple deviceRecovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device: Apple Support Communities
Also you said " I want to add them to my iCloud, and also back to my computer. " Note that unless subscribe to iTunes match, only iTunes purchases are stored in iCloud.

can anyone tell me how to go about setting up a separate account for one child without messing up the original account? or can anyone give suggestions about redeeming gift cards so each child does not have to keep track of the others purchases. its' causing a lot of stress around here and potential inequity. my daughter wants her own acct. i assume i would set that up under a separate email and will she lose everything?
You will indeed need another email address, but you just then set up the account as you did your current one. You can use your daughter's gift card to set up the account. I'd suggest you give each child his/her own user account in Windows, if you haven't already. That will give them each their own iTunes library and keep each child's purchases completely separate.
As to the existing content, once you've set up the user account for your daughter, just copy the content you want your daughter to have from your current iTunes library to a shared location (either on the computer or on removable storage such as a USB flash drive or an external hard drive), log into your daughter's user account, launch iTunes, and drag the content into the iTunes window. Then just authorize that copy of iTunes to that iTunes Store account (Store menu -> Authorize) and she'll be able to continue to play and sync that content. Log her into her own iTunes Store account for future purchases.

My daughter got a new iPhone 5 and we set it up using the option to restore her iPhone 4 backup from iCloud. This worked great and everything on the old phone showed up on the new phone. Because we were traveling, we weren't able to sync the iPhone 5 with iTunes at that time.
She purchased new apps and music on the iPhone 5. When we returned home she synced with iTunes, and it seems to have created a new library, with only the content currently on the phone. I don't know if it prompted her to do this on the first sync or not - she doesn't remember.
So in iTunes, the library now only shows the music on the phone. A sync isn't doing much now because when choosing the phone in iTunes and selecting each content type across the top (Apps, Music, Movies, TV Shows) the box is unchecked to sync that content. When I check the box to "Sync Music", iTunes gives a warning:
Are you sure you want to sync music? all existing songs and playlists on the iPhone Becca's iPhone will be replaced with songs and playlists from your iTunes library.
Same goes for apps, except that warning also mentions that the apps and their data will be erased and replaced.
At some point she was also getting a message that this iPhone was associated with another library, but I'm not sure how she had triggered that. She says she canceled out of that. I can see all of the music
How do we get iTunes to see the "old" library of songs, videos and apps without losing the ones she's purchased already on the iPhone? The music files themselves are still on the computer, and include music both purchased from iTunes as well as music ripped from CDs. Thanks for any advice!See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

Do you mean iTunes library?
iTunes account is what you use to make iTunes purcahses.
iTunes library is what is on your computer.
It says my phone can only be set up woth one itunes account. How do I remove the previous account?
No, it tells you it can only be sync'd with one iTunes library.
Simplest way is to copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder (thisis the iTunes library) from old computer to new computer. -
I have a new iPhone for work, set up on a new iTunes account (PC). I was told i can associate it to my home iTunes account (iMac) but don't know how. I want to save the work related apps as well. Any advice? Thanks
Thanks. I messed up with my husbands iphone because I was told the wrong thing. Now everytime I sync his phone it makes it look just like the other phone I had. Do you know how I can fix taht for his phone? Any settings I can turn off that will prevent all of my apps/contacts, etc from auto populating his phone?

How can you turn off the braille setting on an iPhone 4s, once on it won't let you slide the phone into use mode to change the settings or do anything?
An alternate method is Accessibility Settings when connected to iTunes. You should be able to turn it off there. I would also check out some of the answers listed to the right of this post and see if they can help.

After I downloaded the new version of iTunes 11.0.1 and i try to open it it says: ''There is no application set to open the document ''iTunes 11.0.1.dmg.part''. How can i install this without paying for an app to do it? What apps can i download to do this type of work.
.dmg.part is not a complete file.. It usually indicates that the entire file has not been downloaded yet. Are you sure you downloaded the entire file? (i recommend updating itunes through > Software Update
Alternatively, you can download it from here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1614 -
I have new iPod Nano. I want to set it up w/ the same name as my old one. I heard you can only hve 5 devices, so since I'll never use the original one again, how do I get iTunes to know that it is no longer?
You do not need to do anyhting.
You can sync as many devices as you like. -
one fine day yesterday, my i phone just hangup lost all contact detail. The screen only show a picture depicting cable connection to iTune. I have tried to restore iphone to factory setting but not working . May i know how to proceed to recover lost contacts.
I have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. And they backed up my old Iphone 4, but were not able to get anything to load back onto my new phone. So, I lost pretty much everything. But over time, some of my contacts have started showing up, although i am still missing over 800 of them.

Hi I can't remember the answer to my security questions and I don't think I set up a rescue email adders when opening my account can you please tell me how I can gain access to my account
Didn't the link to contact the iTunes Store staff in the 'Additional Information' section of that article work for you? If you don't already have a valid rescue email address, only Apple itself can reset the questions.

Using 2 ipods on 1 computer - How do you keep the itunes seperate?
Want to find out how 2 different users can keep their own itunes library on the same computer without having to have each other's music on each ipod.
There are actually three main ways to do what you want. There is the manual update that superman suggests, but that requires you to give up all the convience and features of the automatic updates. Here are two other ways:
For each iPod, go to the prefs and set it to Update only selected playlists. Then you will be given a list of all playlists in iTunes, and you can pick which ones will update to the iPod. This can include smart playlists, so you have a control over what goes on each iPod. If you later make new playlists, just go to the prefs and check them to include them on that iPod. Then, do the same with the other iPod. You can include some of the playlists on both iPods, and have some that are on one iPod and not the other. Your choice.
The third choice is good when the two users have virtually no music in common. What you do is make a separate login account for each user, and have them run iTunes from that account. Any songs that one user puts in their library will never show up in the other iTunes. It's like they were running on two separate computers. Then let each user sync their iPod to their iTunes library, and the two iPods will not even know about each other. Each will have their own library, thier own playlists, and their own music on thier iPod.
