Are you using an enterframe loop to animate the strip's movement now? Or are you using some other mechanism?
If you have something like this:
clipName.onEnterFrame = function() {
  pictureStripClip.x -= 10;
for instance, then you can just add an if... clause:
clipName.onEnterFrame = function() {
  if pictureStripClip.x > - 200;
    pictureStripClip.x -= 10;
Your function is probably more complex, but that's that basic structure for testing the current position of the movieClip and then allowing it to move it its not there yet. Change the numbers as needed.
