Implementing a Mobile Positioning Provider

I'm attempting to develop a mobile position provider (as described in the Wireless Dev. Guide, Section 15.7).
Implementing the required interfaces seemed relatively straight forward (MPProviderSelector, MPProvider, and Positioner). I've run into an issue testing and deploying.
Starting with testing, can my classes be tested locally, using JDev, and the WDK, and/or the JWE? I'd like to be able to make test calls like: MPManager.getPositioner(myProvider).requestPosition("myMobileID") ...
As for deploying, is this just a matter of installing the packaged files where it's accessible to the Wireless instance, and adding the provider/selector information from the 'webtool -> System manager -> site configuration -> Location management'
Thanks for any insight!

Hello,
The current algorithm was designed to reduce the polling load on mobile positioning centers in telco environments. However, this algorithm also makes testing difficult due to the low query frequency.
We are preparing a patch that will allow you to adjust the polling frequency for testing purposes. In the meantime, you can contact me directly at <philip.darringer at oracle.com> and I can provide you with instructions for making this adjustment.

  • Best Mobile Phone Provider

Who do you think is the best mobile phone provider in the UK?
I have never been with anybody else than T-Mobile (or previoulsy one-to-one).
I value their free voice mail.
I am looking for a new contract and I do not really mind who the provider is. They just need to be good.
It happened to me quite often that I had bad reception in some building where other people always had reception. Does this only have to do with the network or also with the phone?
Which in your opinion has the best coverage AND free voice mail if possible? Or which provider shall I avoid?
    Thanks

Thanks very much for all the comments from everyone. Have you seen this though:
obile Phone Network Customer Service Ratings
OneCompare.com regularly reviews the major UK networks customer service level on order to report the results to the public so that they can make an informed decision when selecting a mobile phone network. Just click on the tabs below to see the Customer Service Ratings from the selected year.

    2006/2007 Customer Service Rating Report
O2 customers suffer by getting wrong price information in four out of ten cases
Major mobile networks are giving customers wrong information on call costs leading to higher bills
49% of consumers unaware it costs them to receive calls abroad
An independent assessment of mobile phone companies’ customer service staff has shown many unable to answer basic questions meaning mobile users are incurring needless costs and increasing frustration. The annual mobile phone network customer service report by independent online comparison service OneCompare.com used a mystery shopping exercise to ask questions about peak / off peak rates and international roaming costs across the six major providers. Many staff were unable to give correct information meaning customers would incur unnecessary costs or were subject to bad phone manner.
The mobile company with the least knowledgeable staff were O2 (35%) followed by Vodafone (20%) and Orange (15.4%). O2 was particularly startling as it boasts about service standards in its exclusively British call centres, sliding further down the table from last year’s survey. In fact, O2 staff were unable to provide correct answers or solutions to over a third of the questions asked. O2 and Virgin scored particularly poorly on the international roaming rates question with O2 answering almost four in ten questions (39%) incorrectly and Virgin answering over three in ten(35%) incorrectly.
Anthony Ball, Director of OneCompare.com comments: “It is not surprising that O2 have performed so poorly this year – with the disloyal service they provided their existing customers. In June last year, with little warning, they withdrew up to 50,000 mobile phone models which were still being used by consumers telling them if they wanted to keep making and receiving calls they would have to purchase a newer model. Furthermore, they have not actively promoted cheaper international roaming deals such as My Europe. This is a package that customers have to opt-in to receive cheaper calls, but how can they if they are not being told about them.”
Ball continues; “17.5 million unhappy mobile phone users is a worrying number which needs be addressed. Customer acquisition continues to take priority but mobile companies, even the ones that have come out top in our report, have neglected the basics and dismissed the importance of good customer services. Customer service staff should be the ambassadors for their networks and should be fully equipped to help customers understand the basics such as the cost of a call at an off - peak time or the cost of overseas call charges. We will continue to strive for better service for the consumer and plans for the mobile industry to use this customer service rating as a benchmark will help to achieve this.”
“The report simply highlights the inadequacies of most mobile phone networks across all investigated areas. Hopefully the standard will only get better across the board which in turn will benefit the consumer. We welcome mobile phone providers who would like to work with us in obtaining a common ground in the customer service arena.”
Comprehensive details of the report are available by contacting Onecompare.com direct.

  • Can i use NI-7358 to implement a hybrid position force/torque control system?

    Hello!
I have a manipulator with 5 joints. I will use the NI-7358 motion control card to control them. In my application i also want to implement a force control system by using a force/torque sensor.
    Question:
Is it possible to use the NI-7358 to implement a force/torque control system? Can i use the analog input channel of the NI-7358 as the force feedback? How is the torque exactly controlled with this card? Do I need buy other hardware to realize the hybrid force/position control?
    Thanks a lot!

thank you Jochen, i have two ways to get the torque values for each axis:   1. by using a force-sensor on each axis. (direct, very precise) 2. by using the Jacobian of my manipulator structure to calculate the torques (indirect, not precise, maybe correction needed)   do u mean i must  use option "1" as feedback (hardware dependent)? (JK:
yes, that's the only option with the 7358. The other option will
require the use of another approch like LV RT or LV FPGA as discussed
before) how can i increase or reduce the torque when i use the force-feedback and the NI PCI-7358? (JK:
please refer to the document about analog feedback that I have attached
to my first answer. With analog feedback you can set torque values
exactly the same way as you set target positions).
      still a question:   the motors that i am using are:   Motor:              3x Faulhaber 3564 024B DC-Servomotor                          2x
Faulhaber 2036 012B DC-Servomotor Encoder:         1x HEDM 5500 B14   can i use the Faulhaber BLD 5606 http://www.faulhaber.de/zip_pdf/produkte/kat_2000/10_steuerungen/dBLD5603_06.pdf Motor Driver with the NI PCI-7358 together (with UMI)?
    (JK:
The PDF doesn't contain a schematic of the pinout but telling from the
table this combination should work. Please make sure that you limit the
output voltage of the 7358 to +-5 V as this is the voltage input range
for the command input of the BLD 5606. This can be done in MAX)

  • Implementing your own SSL provider

    Hello,
Im working on a new TLS/SSL implementations. I got all the classes(i.e. sslsocket, etc) ready. The problem i have is that i cant get my socketfactory using SSLFactory.getDefault, because when i do it an exception lang.runtime.exception:export restriction: SunJSSE only is thrown. Is there any way i can fix it?
    I live outside the US
looking forward to any replies ;)
    lukasz

I assume you are on JDK 1.4.x? At this point, no, you can't plug in your own provider into the Sun JDK.
However, in 1.5.x, you can, as long as the sslsocket/sslengine only reports SSL/TLS ciphersuites that
    are on the "approved" list.

  • Why tied to a mobile network provider?

I'm looking forward to getting an iPhone in Europe ... but I wouldn't get one on principle if, as in the US, Apple was dictating which mobile network I had to use. It seems a very un-Apple thing to do! Is there a genuine AT&T/Apple technology reason for restricting users' choice like this ... or is it just a profit thing? Roger

    1. AT&T had to give Apple complete design freedom with regard to the iPhone.
    2. AT&T's logo was not permitted to be put on the phone.
    3. AT&T had to do make some major system changes to accomodate Apple's Visual Voicemail concept.
Obvioiusly, all of these things favored Apple. What AT&T got in return was an exclusive provider contract.

  • How we will implement SAPUI5 Routing ? Provide Example with DataModel and Screen Shots

    Hi,
I am working on Routing and have seen one example in Blog : SAPUI5 & Netweaver Gateway CodeJam Antwerp
which is good, but there is no clarity on data model and screen shots of the functionality.
As i am working this Routing on high priority, Can you please provide example with all the details?
    Thanks,
    seshu

I would say that that SAPUI5 & Netweaver Gateway CodeJam Antwerp is enough to understand how SAPUI5 Routing is working, to see functionality just copy/paste the code to correct place.
Another option to see SAPUI5 routing functionality is to check SAPUI5 demokit 'sap.m.SplitApp' Demo Application
when you select item from the menu, you can see that actually url is changed

  • Unable to connect to https pages using mobile provider

    Hello all,
I have a brand new iphone 3GS running 3.1.2 and fully updated.
    MY PROBLEM IS:
I cannot connect to any sites that use https when using my mobile service provider, which is MTN in Ghana. I can however access these sites when connecting by WIFI.
Sites I cannot access which use https when connecting via my mobile service provider include:
    - gmail.com (which after redirecting, refuses to open the https login page)
    - my bank asbbank.co.nz (which redirects to an https page),
    - facebook (which after entering login info tries to redirect to an https page) - and - ironically - https://support.apple.com.
The error in each case is a timeout "Cannot open page, safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding". Further, I ALSO cannot access my gmail mail account although everything is configured correctly. This gives me an imap error.
    HOWEVER:
-I can access all http websites using my mobile service provider including yahoo mail, just not https
-When connecting via WIFI I CAN access all services and websites, including https and I CAN connect to my gmail mail account (without the imap warning proving I have configured it with the proper settings/password)
I HAVE TRIED (just about everything):
    -clearing cache, cookies, history
    -restarting the iphone, force restarting
-I have reset all network connections
-I have wiped my whole iphone to reset all settings and delete all content
    - I have visited my mobile service provider (MTN Ghana) who assure me my iphone is configured correctly, that their servers do not block iphones. A customer care person was able to connect to gmail in front of me with their blackberry phone via the same MTN network. However when this persons sim card was inserted into my iphone (which is legally unlocked from New Zealand) my iphone could not connect to gmail through safari...
Please, any suggestions are welcome, I have searched long and hard for an answer and am still unsure where the exact problem lies.
    Much thanks, Roger

Solved. The carrier twice gave me the apn details as wap, and eventually tracked down that it should be 'internet' . Interestingly 2 other carriers in Ghana Tigo and Vodafone also didnt know this and couldnt configure the 3GS...

  • Need to do any configuration settings in BES while implementing BO Mob ?

    Hi All
We are implementing BO Mobile 3.1 SP3 for BlackBerry devices. We have implemented it and also setup OTA client application delivery and downloaded client application into our mobile and lauched the application by configuring with needed settings. But while trying to login from mobile ,its throwing the error as " Invalid credentials".I am using the same credentials which i used for accessing Enterprise server and CMS also.Basis team has no idea of where to create new credentials for mobile access.
They have done every required settings with reference from deployment guide provided in the BO site, except on the BES server for which they dont have authorization.
Do we need to do any configuration settings in BES server??

    Hi there.
I'm developing a chat app based on IRC server and flash client (flash sockets). Everything is OK but for some ISP flash client doesn't connect to IRC server: There are some logs from chat while connecting to IRC server:
        Send: PASS password
        Send: NICK nickname
        Send: USER username
        Receive: HTTP/1.1 501 Not Implemented
        Receive: Content-type: text/html
        Receive: Content-Length: 219
There is only thing I'm aware - this issue occurs for SIP mobile network provider only. For other non-mobile providers issue doesn't occur and chat works good.
I would really appreciate for any thoughts on this matter.

  • Does SAP Netweaver Mobile support integration with devices like Intermec?

    Hi All,
We have a scenario where the customer is currently using SAP Console based approach for RF transaction related requirement. The device used is Intermec CK31 for barcode scanning and updating the data in the SAP backend. Some example scenarios are Goods Issue & Scrap. Since the SAP Console based approach does not support Offline mode, the customer is interested in evaluating the option of using SAP Netweaver Mobile for the solution.
Related to this requirement, we have the following queries.
    1)  Does SAP Netweaver Mobile support Intermec CK31 device without a product like Mobile Factory. What are the pros and cons in this approach of using SAP Netweaver Mobile only? If yes, are there any documentation how this can be accomplished?
    2) Are there simulators for Intermec scanning devices like Intermec CK31 to be used while application development?
    3)  Can Mobile Factory be used for implementing this requirement? Can it support offline scenarios without SAP Netweaver Mobile? Does Mobile Factory provide Simulators for the devices such as Intermec CK31 for application development?
An early response would be greatly appreciated as we are in the process of evaluating a right approach for the customeru2019s requirement and the same needs to be provided soon.
    Thanks in advance.
    Suresh

    Hi,
Refer to note 1057759 for the delivered Drivers for Peripherals  and devices supported in SAP DOE. This lists all the supported barcode scanners for SAP Netweaver Mobile. Those derivers are certified after testing to work only with that device and OS configuration.

When a new handset is released the first thing we want to know about it is what our Telstra customers think about it. After all, reviews of new handsets are all over the Internet, but reviews are always best when they come from people just like you.
So, when we get our hands on a new handset, we start looking for two people to be our Mobile Insiders. We post a callout on CrowdSupport and on our social media accounts asking for people to register their interest.
We search for people who will provide insightful accounts of their experiences with this new product. We don’t look for cheerleaders because the reviews don’t have to be 100% positive; rather we look for someone who is capable of delivering a fair, considerate and engaging review.
If you love talking tech and sharing your opinions on CrowdSupport and social media then you are the kind of person we want. Not a tech genius? Doesn’t matter! We’re looking for all kinds of opinions – from beginners to experts.

We might also come up with some kind of challenge for you. If there’s a challenge to be met, we will let you know in the callout.
What do I have to do once I have the device?
You will need to use the handset consistently and describe your experiences on CrowdSupport and on social media, answer community member's questions, express your opinions clearly, post photos, and generally provide an in-depth review for a period of two weeks. If you think consistently posting about your adventures with a new handset over a fortnight might be difficult for you, consider this before applying.
The products are yours to keep after the review period.
What else do I need to know?
If you have applied before, you will be in consideration for all future Mobile Insiders.
We will let you know if we’d like you to participate by communicating with you directly.
