A patch (5206270) has been released, however I don't know how I should install this in JDeveloper. I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3.2. It looks to me that I have to create a new translator.jar but I don't know exactly what I should do.
Your help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks, J

Judas,
That note & patch documentation is pretty confusing, I agree.
My guess is that they want you to apply the patch against an AS 10.1.3 installation and then copy the translator.jar to your jdev home - to get an official answer, probably best to file an SR.
However, the patch itself is pretty simple, and if you're comfortable getting your hands dirty, you could try this:
1. download the patch
2. make a backup copy of <your_jdev_home>\sqlj\lib\translator.jar
3. use an appropriate utility to expand translator.jar (winzip, jar xvf, etc)
4. replace the two files in the expanded translator.jar with the two class files from the patch (in <patch>\files\sqlj\lib\translator.jar\....)
5. Re-build translator.jar
Hope this is enough to get you going.
Best,
John

• Setups in Database installation or patch application

Hi all,
In the database installation or patch application, in the unzipped directories you have multiple
setup.exe files along with oui.exe.
For example: in 10g
you have one setup.exe under directory 10gR2_server\database
also you have one setup.exe and one oui.ex under directory 10gR2_server\database\install.
I am wondering what are the differences among those setup.exe and oui.exe. Sometimes we tried the setup.ex in one directory it throw some error and tried another one it works. I am kind of confused.
Thanks a lot for your help,
Shirley

Hi Shirley
As far as I know setup.exe is starting the Oracle Universal installer and the oui.exe is called by the setup.exe.
Sometimes your can perform silent install as this:
oui.exe -waitforcompletion -nowait -force -silent -responseFile response_file.rsp

• Applied SOA patches (server), how to get patches/updates into JDeveloper?

Hi
We have recently applied the 10.1.3.3.1 MLR5 patch to our SOA Suite installs. In this there is a bug 5883401 listed as being resolved by the patchset.
We have logged an SR to find out the details of the bug (as it is once again not visible to us mere customers paying good money for support).
From this it became clear that the fix for this bug is really a JDeveloper (XSL Mapper) fix.
Oracle Support has so far been unable to help us with the information on how to get this fix (or any other fix) applied to JDeveloper. (we are using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0 build 4157)
Can anybody in this forum please shed any light onto this matter?
How do we get this fix or any other fixes applied to JDeveloper?
Your help and inputs are much appreciated.

Hi,
i searched for bug 5883401. Can you provide which patch number is associated with this bug?
Is there a jar file provided?

• Installation of Patch Set 9.2.0.7 on Windows XP Pro SP2 fails

When I tried to apply patch set 9.2.0.7 to my 9.2.0.5 installation on a computer with MS Windows XP Pro SP2, shortly after the selection of the target Oracle home directory the installer told me to shut down a large number of Windows processes (like RAS, RPC, etc., about 30 in total) that are not related at all to the installation.
Am I getting anything wrong? Or is this a bug (as I would suspect)?

You are facing an annoying problem with Oracle installation on Windows.
It seems, some files are locked by
other processes than the Installer process.
The following workaround worked (for me):
Temporarily remove the reference to the Oracle Home at system startup
1. Rename the Oracle Home \bin directory to \bin_save
2. Reboot the system
3. Rename the bin_save directory back to bin again
4. Start patch installation again

• SO7 installation problem patch 5

Hello,
I try to apply the patch so-7-pp5-bin-linux.bin on a serverinstallation, but the installation fail. (OS : suse 9.2 glibc 2.3.3)
I do:
./so-7-pp5-bin-linux.bin -patch [path to network installation] --> I see a message in a window for a very short time, to short for reading. No other error message. If I start SO7 I cant see any patch information.
Next I do:
./so-7-pp5-bin-linux.bin -patch [path to network installation] -v -debug --> A window pop up with "INSTALL_INFO flag is missing ExitCode 9".
What does it mean?
BeforeI have patch no. 4 installed with no problem. On my second computer with Debian OS I have no problem to install patch no. 5
Next I do: Remove SO7 competely and install again. The same problem, but now I cant install an earlier patch again too.
I removed an unused earlier installation of OpenOffie also and install SO7 completly again. Nothing. I cant install any patch
What can I do?
Regards
Udo

This will probably not be much help; SO7 was unstable when installed on a system with glibc 2.3.1 (Libranet 2.8 Debian). The applications would start but would shut down after a few keystrokes. When patch #5 arrived, I installed it and noted that the instability problem was gone.
I am now wondering if the compiler used for the patch 5, which now apparently has backward compatibility with an older glibc version may be incompatible with the version used in SuSE.
NB I have reported separately another strange incompatibility with SO8 and KDE 3.2.x. SO8 segfaults under KDE but runs perfectly under other windows managers on the same system. I have reported this to Sun/SO and am awaiting a response.

• Failed installation - Missing patch

I have used several Adobe products for years. I received a PDF file. It failed to print. I tried downloading a new reader several times. I consistently get a 'ERROR' Failed to access installation patch, please verify existance or contact Adobe.

I tried using the above cleaner as sugested. When I tried reinstalling using your sugestion also above it - failed. It said that I had a later version. I had version 11.03.
I contacted Adobe again but just got a run around as it was a free product. I have had many Adobe products over the years and as a new version was developed I down loaded it. Acrobat, Reader, Photoshop, Flash player etc. How I discovered the problem was when I tried to open and print my Turbo Tax return. A search for Adobe products revels 94 files in existance!! Adobe asked for a serial number that I couldn't find so they said GOOD BY.

• Patch 7315332 - 10G Jdeveloper with OA Extension ARU for R12.1

Hi,
I would have a look at the JDeveloper with OA Extension ARU for R12.1 (cause we will upgrade to R12.1), just to see the features and try to open "old" projects created with the patch 6739235 (11i).
Do you know where I can download a trial version?
Thanks a lot,
Rosanna.

Rosanna,
Should be the same place you get the other patches - "My Oracle Support" - the site formerly known as Metalink.
You would have more luck getting appropriate answers on the OA Framework Forum as well.

• SAPGUI 7.10 Installation Server Patching Problem

Hello,
A while back I was having a problem with patching a SAPGUI 710 installation server. A suggestion from the forum was that the version of the SAP Download Manager I was using could be corrupting the patch. So I downloaded and installed the latest SAP Download Manager, downloaded the GUI patch and was then able to apply the GUI patch to the Installation Server. Now I am seeing the same sort of problem with trying to apply the recently released BI and BW patches to the 710 installation server. When I run the SAPSetupAdmin.exe tool, select "Patch Server", browse to the patch and select "Next" to apply the patch, nothing happens. I reinstalled the latest Download Manager, but no luck.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Tom Grantham

Hi All,
I opened up an OSS message with SAP. The response is below. Changing the extension from EXE to exe fixed the problem.

Dear Mr. Grantham,
There have been rare reports of the latest download manager not
resolving the issue. I have just been updated from a development supportcolleague there is a small issue with the patch extensions which
prohibits NwSapSetupAdmin from applying the patches.
With the patches that you have currently downloaded could you try
renaming the extension to lower case only please (.EXE to .exe) and thenapply the patches.
If the patches still cannot be applied then could you kindly try
downloading and applying the patches for BW & BI from the SAPmats links

Hi!
I've installed Discoverer Administration Edition (Admin + Desktop) using the Oracle CD version 4.1.37 for Windows 95/98/NT/2000
Then, I applied the patch 3201601.
I chekced the tnsnames.ora file in C:\ornt\NET80\ADMIN. I reate my required connect string in this file.
However, when I am trying to connect either to the ADmin or the Desktop, getting the following error message:

The TOAD too throwing the same error message!!

Thanks a lot Rod.
Let me summarise all the steps to be followed to install and connect to the Discoverer 4i with Apps 11i:
1) Install Discoverer 4i (4.1.37)
2) Apply patch 3201601. If installing on XP get .dll errors. Metalink note 297750.1 gives the fix for this.
3) Then check tnsnames.ora and create the connect string.
4) Check sqlnet.ora for domain description. Make required changes.
5) To connect as an EUL owner to the Discoverer Admin 4.1.48.08, in tools -. Options -> connection, select 'Connect to both standard and applications EUL' or 'Connect to standard EUL'.
6) to connect as an Oracle apps user, copy .dbc file form the database to the $ORACLE_HOME\secure folder on the standalone PC/laptop.
Did I miss out any step?

• Incorrect installation of patches

Hello!
While installing a zone in Solaris 10 I got some errors of corrupt packages. When I checked my partitions, /var was nearly full. So I have some questions:
1. Is it possible to clean up /var/sadm automatically?
2. May I relocate /var/sadm to another partition via a symlink?
3. How do I fix the broken packages?
Thanks for any help

Interesting: pkgchk does not complain about the packages which were marked as "corrupt" in the zone-log. What is going on here?

• Crashing - New Installation InDesign CS 6 fully patched

I've just installed Adobe CS 6 Web and Design Premium on a Macbook Pro running Mac OS X 10.7.5.
This computer uses Extensis Universal Type Server client 3.3.0.
Immediately following the installation and patching, InDesign crashes following launch when any tool is choosen.
It's consistent and reproducible.
I've removed InDesign preferences, ensured that there are no problems with the Mac (Disk Repair, Disk Permissions, etc.),
applied the icon issue patch.
At this point I'm thinking about uninstalling altogether and reinstalling the CS6 suite.
Any help would be appreciated. This is one install out of about 20 with similar configurations.
There rest of the installations went smoothly.
Side note - Adobe , please don't tell me hold time will be 5-8 minutes when it's over 30.

To isolate if this is Universal type Server issue, you'd have to drag the autoactivation plugin out of the Plug-ins folder. On mac this would be on the following location: /Applications/Adobe InDesign CS6/Plug-ins/Text/. Quit InDesign. Navigate to the location mentioned earlier and drag the auto activation plug-in from there to desktop. Re-launch InDesign and test for crash. You can also use the Extensions Manager to Find the auto activation plugin by choosing InDesign from the left panel of Extensions Manager and then look for the autoactivation plugin on the right panel. Upon finding the autoactivation plugin select it and click Remove.
