Internet explorer 6.0 under XP...JVM
Hi,
I'm trying to run an applet which uses JfreeChart under IE. The plots do not come up because when I start IE and go to the server which has the applet/index.html, IE somehow decides that I have a JRE collision and uses it's JVM rather than the Sun's 1.4.1 which I have as a plugin. Here is the index html file which I am using:

So when I start IE I can open up the Sun Java Console with no problem. After I go to the index.html above, I get a message about a JRE collision and that I need a different JRE. I hit ok , after which I have no Sun Java Console and I can't use the
JFreeChart plots. Why is IE deciding I can't use the Sun Java plugin??

figured it out.....IE takes /Comment to be a comment and didn't see my jar files that I need to run the plots....all other browsers apparently ignore /comment

Dreamweaver tables not displaying correctly in internet explorer browser, please help!!!!
Could someone please help me with this issue i've been having for almost a year now and can't find any information on getting this fixed, for some reason the features specs and required tables rows are not displaying correctly, the image is out of aligned when viewing the results using the internet explorer browser only, the firefox browser works just as needed but when i try to view the same code in IE the tables are not aligned properly and the text is not margined correctly either, i tried playing around with the css style that i have and no results. Please help me fix this issue so that my page would display in internet explorer just like under Firefox. Below are the pictures of the problem i'm having.

[email protected]Try this without the border images and it will work in all browsers with increased text size. That's assuming eBay supports embedded CSS styles (which I'm not convinced they do). Inline styles are safer IMHO.

Java 7 update 10 not working with Internet Explorer 8
Hi there,
I recently upgraded to Java 7 update 10 and ever since no Java applet loads in Internet Explorer 8 (works fine in Firefox 17.1).
I've tried uninstalling Java and reinstalling Java many times, makes no difference.
Can someone help me please?

Since you're using Java 7.10, please also check the Security tab in the Java Control Panel which can be found in the Windows Control Panel.
While in the Java Control Panel, check also the Advanced tab and make sure Microsoft Internet Explorer is checked under 'Default Java for browsers'
Alternatively check this registry key: HKCU\Software\AppDataLow\Software\JavaSoft\DeploymentProperties
For this setting: deployment.webjava.enabled
Make sure its set to 'true' to enable java; if its 'false' it disables java. -
What JVM is being used in my Internet Explorer ?
I have a web-bases/java-bases application that does not work when JRE 1.4 is active.
I disable it for Internet Explorer in the Java Plug-In Console on the Browser tab and then things work fine.
How do I know what JVM is being used then ?
Some configuration info :
WinME, IE 6.0, JRE 1.4When you install JRE1.4.0, it asks if you want to link the JRE to IE and Netscape 6...if you answered yes, what it does is to create and automatically select a new option box in IE (see Tools-->Internet Options-->Advanced-->Java Sun-->Use JRE1.4.0...) -- if you elected not to link the JRE, the option box is not created.
Without the new option box, IE works like this:
1) Unless the applet has been converted with the HTMLConverter that comes with your SDK, IE will run the applet with its native JVM which is version 1.1.5.
2) If the HTML file has been converted, IE will check to see what version of the JRE is required and what is already on the system. If a different JRE is required, it will prompt the user to download the required JRE and then run the applet -- if the user doesn't want to do the download, the applet will simply fail to start.

Enable Commenting Tools in Adobe Acrobat under Browser Plug-in in Internet Explorer using
We have a problem in showing commenting tools in Adobe Acrobat under browser plug-in in Internet Explorer. Adobe Support cannot answer my question and refer me to Devnet here.
Our system is using browser plug-in to display PDF file by Acrobat under > > Internet Explorer (document viewer). The PDF documents have reader extension enabled.
We supposed that if a PDF page is viewed and I customize the toolbar, the same toolbar and icon will be displayed next time when I retrieve a page, only if I select "Review and Comment" icon, and it only applies for v8.0.0. If I do not select review and comment icon, or I have selected review and comment icon but > > use other version of 8.x, my selected toolbar and icon cannot reappear next time.
If my selected toolbar and icon do not appear, I can press F8 to hide the icons. If press F8 again to unhide the icons, all my selected icons can be shown this time. But it does not automatically re-appear if I open another documet viewer.
Kindly note that all PDF files have reader extension enabled, and only Acrobat 8.0.0 Professional is used in client PC. There is no Adobe Reader in the PC. The PDF version is 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x) or 1.5 (Acrobat 6.x). The user has comment rights since the PDF file has reader extension and Acrobat 8.0.0 is used. User has no problem in mark-up the PDF files, but has problem in showing the selected tools.
OS: Windows 2000 SP4
Browser: IE 6.0 SP1
Acrobat version: Acrobat 8.0.0 Professional
PDF version: 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x) or 1.5 (Acrobat 6.x)
Steps to produce the problem.
1. Scan paper document and create a batch of PDF files (one page per file)
2. Enable reader extension for all PDF files by LifeCycle.
3. Put the PDF files into a web based interface, entering a page number will open a new web browser which interface the browser plug-in and display the content of the imaged PDF file by Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0.0.
4. Open a page. It only show a few icons on toolbar (see a.png).
5. Select the commenting icons to be shown (do not enabled in "review and comment)". The icons will be shown.
6. If the browser is closed, then use the web interface to open another page, the selected tools cannot be shown (same as a.png attached in my previous email).
7. Select "review and comment" tool. (see b.png attached in my previous email)
8. The selected tools are shown again (see c.png attached in my previous email).
9. Close the browser, use the web interface to open another page, the selected tools are still here.
10. Unselect "review and comment", the selected tools will be hidden next time when a page is opened by the web interface.
11. Close the browser, and open a new page in web interface, the PDF file will be shown, and the selected icons are hidden.
12. Press F8 to hide icons, all tools are hidden.
13. Press F8 to unhide icons, all selected tools that are not shown in step 11 are shown again
14. If Acrobat 8.0.0 is patched or updated, "review and comment" tool has no effect in "memorizing" the selected tools.That option is nothing to do with the PDF being editable, it's to control the display of the toolbars. "Reading Mode" is when the toolbars are hidden and the black head-up display navigation bar appears at the bottom of the screen.
PDFs displayed within a web browser with Acrobat/Reader X are not editable, nor can you apply markups, unless you're within a browser-based-review workflow. You have to save a copy locally and open it in desktop mode to make any changes. -
Yahoo hosts my e-mail. It is under a primary e-mail address under @yahoo.com. Under that primary account, I have another e-mail address that is based on my own domain name. When I get on firefox and bring up yahoo, it opens under my yahoo.com address but it has a "logged in under" section which allows me to go to my .(my domain) address. When I click on that, my .(my domain) mail comes up for an instant and then firefox shifts me back to the .yahoo account.
This happens on my newer most recent windows computer but not on my older one and never, ever happens on internet explorer. I may have to abandon firefox for internet explorer if you cannot fix this.

Someone tipped me about using java web start instead of IE, but this my executives wont allow the application we're building to shift it's platform.
I've read about policy files, but this seams bothersome. As far as I can understand, they have to be set to each client using the application. Perhaps this can be done automatically through the application?You have to sign the Jar file containing the applet. If you are running the native IE JVM rather than an up to date plug in JVM you'll probably want to package the code into a signed CAB file, But Microsoft no longer ship their Java SDK which has the utilities to do this so it might be tricky to get hold of.

in discoverer viewer, when i have an axe item which have more than 30 values, discoverer show the possibility to open a new window which give me the possibility to find others values. In Internet explorer under 6, this functionality doesn't work.

When importing from Microsoft Internet Explorer I have successfully completed and clicked on finish. I am not finding my favorites under the Bookmarks tab. I have shut down Firefox and and restarted the browser and still not finding favorites. I also restarted the computer still not finding favorites imported from Microsoft Internet Explorer. How can I find the data imported from Microsoft Internet Explorer?
You can usually find the imported IE Favorites in a folder ("From Internet Explorer") at the bottom of the Bookmarks Menu folder (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks).
If you can't find them in the "From Internet Explorer" folder then try this:
* Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
* Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File

The Import tab of the file drop down menu will not highlight (function) when I follow all the instructions of firefox help. I want to import bookmarks from Internet explorer. At no time does the Import tab ever react when I move the cursor over it.

In Internet Explorer I always get the popup options RUN, SAVE, CANCEL. In Firefox I only get SAVE & CANCEL. When I click SAVE a "binary" file gets downloaded but I don't know what I'm supposed to do with that.

I go to the AT&T website um.att.com, sign in to my account, and everything works fine in terms of getting or sending messages. But I cannot enter anything in the address book (to store email addresses). If I go to the site using Internet Explorer instead of Firefox, I am able to make address book entries. I spoke to AT&T, and they suggested there might be some add-on app, but they did not know of anything.

However we are running the english interface and had no issues for a while (not sure for how long as the users infrequently use the system)
When navigating to the login screen there are no fields for the user to enter their credentials in internet explorer. Tried IE 8 - IE 11. Played with compatibility mode and safe sites etc... without success.
Firefox works without issues and so does chrome for the login.

PDF reader in Internet Explorer not working
Hi All,
I am having some issues with one of our computers. When we try to open a PDF document from within Internet Explorer it only gives me the option to download the file and open it with the Adobe Reader Application. I have verified that I have the check box for the reader checked under the Intenet section of preferences. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and this does not change. This is causing an issue with one of our web applications that generates PDFs and is quite annoying. I have tried using a different profile and I do not have the issue on that profile. However, rebuilding the profile for this user would be very painful due to all of the custom settings that are in place and I would only like to do that as a last resort.
Cheers!Check to see if the Microsoft download left a Microsoft JVM installed or checked preference. Tools menu > internet options > advanced tab > look for any checked boxes in the Microsoft JVM section. Your Java 2 v1.4.2 checkbox should be near this. Restart.
