JFileChooser under Internet Explorer?

I'm not sure.. I think this is the right forum for my question:
How can I use the JFileChooser object through Internet Explorer? I get a security exception on initialization:
java.security.AccessControlException: access denied(java.util.PropertyPermission user.dir.read)
Someone tipped me about using java web start instead of IE, but this my executives wont allow the application we're building to shift it's platform.
I've read about policy files, but this seams bothersome. As far as I can understand, they have to be set to each client using the application. Perhaps this can be done automatically through the application?

You have to sign the Jar file containing the applet. If you are running the native IE JVM rather than an up to date plug in JVM you'll probably want to package the code into a signed CAB file, But Microsoft no longer ship their Java SDK which has the utilities to do this so it might be tricky to get hold of.

I go to the AT&T website um.att.com, sign in to my account, and everything works fine in terms of getting or sending messages. VSOM 7.5 login fields for user/pass not showing up anymore for some users under internet explorer

some of my users are experiencing the issue that our russian friend had:

However we are running the english interface and had no issues for a while (not sure for how long as the users infrequently use the system)
When navigating to the login screen there are no fields for the user to enter their credentials in internet explorer. Tried IE 8 - IE 11. Played with compatibility mode and safe sites etc... without success.
Firefox works without issues and so does chrome for the login.
Anyone run into this issue in the past couple of weeks?

There are a variety of factors with browsers that the Adobe site is prone to err against. It is possible you had some security settings in place in IE that were not yet included in your newly installed browser, or something similar to that, like not having cookies enabled. We have a problem in showing commenting tools in Adobe Acrobat under browser plug-in in Internet Explorer. Adobe Support cannot answer my question and refer me to Devnet here.
Our system is using browser plug-in to display PDF file by Acrobat under > > Internet Explorer (document viewer). The PDF documents have reader extension enabled.
We supposed that if a PDF page is viewed and I customize the toolbar, the same toolbar and icon will be displayed next time when I retrieve a page, only if I select "Review and Comment" icon, and it only applies for v8.0.0. If I do not select review and comment icon, or I have selected review and comment icon but > > use other version of 8.x, my selected toolbar and icon cannot reappear next time.
If my selected toolbar and icon do not appear, I can press F8 to hide the icons. If press F8 again to unhide the icons, all my selected icons can be shown this time. But it does not automatically re-appear if I open another documet viewer.
Kindly note that all PDF files have reader extension enabled, and only Acrobat 8.0.0 Professional is used in client PC. There is no Adobe Reader in the PC. The PDF version is 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x) or 1.5 (Acrobat 6.x). The user has comment rights since the PDF file has reader extension and Acrobat 8.0.0 is used. User has no problem in mark-up the PDF files, but has problem in showing the selected tools.
OS: Windows 2000 SP4
Browser: IE 6.0 SP1
Acrobat version: Acrobat 8.0.0 Professional
PDF version: 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x) or 1.5 (Acrobat 6.x)
Steps to produce the problem.
1. Scan paper document and create a batch of PDF files (one page per file)
2. Enable reader extension for all PDF files by LifeCycle.
3. Put the PDF files into a web based interface, entering a page number will open a new web browser which interface the browser plug-in and display the content of the imaged PDF file by Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0.0.
4. Open a page. It only show a few icons on toolbar (see a.png).
5. Select the commenting icons to be shown (do not enabled in "review and comment)". The icons will be shown.
6. If the browser is closed, then use the web interface to open another page, the selected tools cannot be shown (same as a.png attached in my previous email).
7. Select "review and comment" tool. (see b.png attached in my previous email)
8. The selected tools are shown again (see c.png attached in my previous email).
9. Close the browser, use the web interface to open another page, the selected tools are still here.
10. Unselect "review and comment", the selected tools will be hidden next time when a page is opened by the web interface.
11. Close the browser, and open a new page in web interface, the PDF file will be shown, and the selected icons are hidden.
12. Press F8 to hide icons, all tools are hidden.
13. Press F8 to unhide icons, all selected tools that are not shown in step 11 are shown again
14. If Acrobat 8.0.0 is patched or updated, "review and comment" tool has no effect in "memorizing" the selected tools.

That option is nothing to do with the PDF being editable, it's to control the display of the toolbars. "Reading Mode" is when the toolbars are hidden and the black head-up display navigation bar appears at the bottom of the screen.
PDFs displayed within a web browser with Acrobat/Reader X are not editable, nor can you apply markups, unless you're within a browser-based-review workflow. You have to save a copy locally and open it in desktop mode to make any changes.

Why Can't I create a new folder in yahoo email? (I can if I use Internet Explorer)

I still use yahoo email a lot. I am also a big fan of firefox. But today I noticed a problem. I wanted to move an email to a new folder but I can't get yahoo to give me a prompt so that I can put in a folder name. Also I wanted to print an email an email and I can't get the print box to come up. Usually all I have to do is click on actions and then print message. Firefox usually brings up it's popup blocker, and then I tell it it is ok to allow popups from yahoo. But right now it won't give me that. I tried turning off my popup blocker, and that didn't seem to help either. I also noticed that whenever I click on things in my email stuff seems kinda slow. It says "loading" for while and then does or doesn't do what I want it to do. At first I thought maybe the problem is flash player. I did a flash player re install, but that didn't help. I decided to bring out Internet Explorer just in case that I could get my email to work with that browser. I was surprised to discover that everything worked perfectly in Internet Explorer. Then I decided maybe Firefox should be reinstalled. I uninstalled Firefox and then downloaded a new copy of it. Then I rebooted, and installed the new copy. The browser is noticeably faster and smoother then the old install but I am still having trouble with it and my yahoo email.

I just did a test in google chrome. I can not create a folder under google chrome, but I can create a folder under Internet Explorer.

Bug in Crystal reports viewer: Internet Explorer

Hi,
I've a problem with crystal reports 13 sp2 viewer, that I'm using in .NET web application.
When I visualize a report using this viewer, the text doesn't take often the whole space that is reserved to it which causes an ugly overlapping between lines (an unnecessary text wrap) in the details section. That occurs when there's a multiple lines text. When I export it to PDF, the report is visualized in a right manner.
Is there a fix to this bug please?!
The enable grow property is enabled.
The application is aimed to run under Internet Explorer 9.
PS: Even in Internet Explorer 8, the problem persists. It doesn't happen in firefox.

Java for Internet Explorer

I'm trying to find out the version of the Java Runtime installed under Internet Explorer for javascript/applets.
How do I do that?

I'll describe the problem that I'm having.
I have an application that requires JRE 1.5.0_06 to
be installed to work.
On one machine, this JRE is installed and I have
IE->Tools->Sun Java Console and under Internet
Options->Advanced, there's a Sun (Java) entry of "Use
JRE 1.5.0_06 for <applet>". My application works on
this machine.
On another machine, I also have this JRE installed.
However, IE->Tools->Sun Java Console and the Sun
(Java) entry do not show up. My application does
not work on this machine.
Any insight?

BonnieWhen the JRE has been installed there was an option to associate it
with IE or not (to make it a 'plug-in' or not). It was not associated.
Can be done now, as follows:
Start->Control Panel->Java->Advanced-><Applet> Tag Support.
Check the box for Internet Explorer. Restart the browser.

Ad page for one site won't display, but works fine with Internet Explorer

Main page of one site displays fine, but ad page won't. Works fine under Internet explorer. Didn't have problem before.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
(You also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now")
(2) Remove your live.com cookies (save any pending work first) using either of these. While viewing a page on the site:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

After downloading Firefox, it goes to a site called Sweet IM Search. I have to go to AT&T's home page. Why isn't it going directly to AT&T? Also, when I add to Bookmarks, it doesn't take it. It pulls up bookmarks from Internet Explorer when I had it.

When i get on yahoo, it opens me up under the primary account, but when i try to get on the secondary e-mail account it automatically shifts me back to the primary account. Dont have this problem in internet explorer.

Yahoo hosts my e-mail. It is under a primary e-mail address under @yahoo.com. Under that primary account, I have another e-mail address that is based on my own domain name. When I get on firefox and bring up yahoo, it opens under my yahoo.com address but it has a "logged in under" section which allows me to go to my .(my domain) address. When I click on that, my .(my domain) mail comes up for an instant and then firefox shifts me back to the .yahoo account.
This happens on my newer most recent windows computer but not on my older one and never, ever happens on internet explorer. I may have to abandon firefox for internet explorer if you cannot fix this.

Incompability discoverer viewer and internet explorer under 6

in discoverer viewer, when i have an axe item which have more than 30 values, discoverer show the possibility to open a new window which give me the possibility to find others values. In Internet explorer under 6, this functionality doesn't work.
How to increase the value "30" or simply disable this new functionality of discoverer 10g.
The functionality doesn't work also in firefox.

Also, in the Java plug-in options, Iexplorer is already chosen.
The applet runs fine with Netscape7, but there is a problem with

I have imported from Microsoft Internet Explorer favorites, cookies, history and they are not available after importing under the Bookmarks tab. How do I find the import of favorites in firefox?

I have shut down Firefox and and restarted the browser and still not finding favorites. I also restarted the computer still not finding favorites imported from Microsoft Internet Explorer. You can usually find the imported IE Favorites in a folder ("From Internet Explorer") at the bottom of the Bookmarks Menu folder (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks).
If you can't find them in the "From Internet Explorer" folder then try this:
* Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
* Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File
