Issue regarding access of ABAP related services from portal

Dear All,
We need your input in the following issue:
Scenerio:
we have implemented ess 1.2 on ep7.0
here we have gone for "Enhanced Package 2" for TRAVEL for client requirements so Travel Services are ABAP WEBDYNPRO instead of Standard JAVA WEBDYNPRO and we have 2 transaction iviews on portal.
Now when an end user clicks on travel services, the request is forwaded to ABAP WAS. So, we need to maintain two entries in DNS: 1. Portal url, 2. ABAP WAS
Now the client doesnot want to maintain ABAP WAS entry in their dns. BUT if they do not maintain this than end users are not able to access ABAP related services...
Can you please suggest any possible solution for this issue.
Thanks & Regards,
JJ

Hi,
Per SAP Note 1040325, it says "It is not possible if there is another component between the browser and the message server (for example, a portal)." In your case a firewall between the portal and WAS. So a direct connection between the client and the WAS system is required which is a security risk. The section below gives more detail on why this is the case/
The following is a excerpt from the Portal "Network and Communication Security" guide:-
Please note that the requirement for direct access between the client and the backend is well flagged in the documentation. For instance, please refer to the Portal Security Guide, specifically the section "Network and Communication Security" (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/b9/c892f1ffc34156883ddd24aec01253/frameset.htm):
'Neither the portal nor the AS Java provides a proxy function. [...] If you have set up a network architecture with one or more firewalls, and your portal integrates iViews that initiate client-backend communication, you must set up access for the client through the firewalls to the application server in the back end.'
So the only secure solution is to install a webdispatcher in your DMZ and forward the requests from the (5) Portal to the (6) webdispatcher as in the graphic below :-
........................................./-> (3) Webdisp -\....................../-> (5) Portal
(1) Client (IE) -> (2) Firewall |.........................|-> (4) Firewall |
.........................................\-> (6) Webdisp -/......................\-> (7) WAS
The original requests bound for the (5) Portal are relayed via the (3) webdisp1 as you can only have one webdisp connecting to one backend SAP system (Portal OR WAS).
Hope this helps.

  • How to debug ABAP Web services from Microsoft Visual Studio

    When developing .NET based Web services clients using Visual Studio that call Web services in SAP NetWeaver .NET developers would like to be able to debug inside SAP. In my blog <a href="/people/andre.fischer/blog/2007/02/07/how-to-debug-abap-web-services-from-microsoft-visual-studio to debug ABAP Web services from Microsoft Visual Studio</a> I would like to point .NET developers to the fact that SAP NetWeaver offers the option of external debugging to perform this task. Though the steps that have to be performed are described in the SAP Online Help I am sure that this option is not well known amongst the .NET developer community.

    Hello WilliamIV,
    >>How can I "configure" Visual Studio debugger to allow validation to work?
    Since I do not have a VS2012 environment, according to your provided link, I created a test demo with VS2013, however, both ways catch the validation error:
    If possible, you could have a try with VS2013 to see if it works or run the example on other machine with VS2012 to see if this is caused by the VS environment, in my side, I do not change any configuration, all are default.
    If I misunderstood this issue, please feel free to let me know.

    Without going into any technical discussion about the code, my first question is what JDK version was used to create this which was imported into the form? Understand that Forms 10 runs on JDK 1.4.2, so if you used any newer JDK version, likely there will be problems.

  • Performance issues while accessing the Confirm/Goods Services' transaction

    Hello
    We are using SRM 4.0 , through Enterprise Portal 7.0.
    Many of our users are crippled by Performance issues when accessing the Confirm/Goods Services tab( Transaction bbpcf02).
    The system simply clocks and would never show the screen.
    This problem occurs for some users all the time, and some users for some time.
    It's not related to the User's machine as others are able to access it fast using the same machine.
    It is also not dependent on the data size (i.e.no . of confirmations created by the user).
    We would like to know why only some users are suffering more pronouncedly, and why is this transaction generally slower than all others.
    Any directions for finding the Probable cause will be highly rewarded.
    Thanks
    Kedar

    Hi Kedar,
    Please go through the following OSS Notes:

  • Pointers regarding consuming a external web-service from SAP

    Hi All,
            I am trying to consume a web-service from an external system using a URL.
    Our SAP system version is 4.7. I have created a custom program and calling up the web service using HTTP POST method.
    For this I referred the following weblog.
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/847. [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken]
    I modified the program according to my requirements and called the web service, but I am facing certain issues.
    1. The if_http_client->send method executed successfully (sy-subrc eq 0). But the next call to the method
        if_http_client->receive the program shows error.The message is very long one and I am not able to see it fully in debugging mode.
    Please help me with the following questions.
    1. Is there any way I can read the message returned from the web-service to see what the error was? In 4.7 we don't have the recording function as in 6.0.
    2. I have disable the login prompt by calling if_http_client->propertytype_logon_popup = http_client->co_disabled.
    If I don't do that it shows me a SAP Web AS login screen. Shouldn't it show me the standard http login screen?
    3.In that login screen if I provide my ID password it returns the following message
    'Business Server Page (BSP) ErrorBSPexception:Access to URL :<Server>:<80>/ORABPEL/DEFAULT/READDATA1/1.0 is forbidden'
    Any pointers what does it mean?
    4. This method seems a very lengthy process to me. Is there any other approach to this issue?
    TIA
    Barada.

    The error for Authorization was because of the HTTP proxy settings for the system.
    I configured the proxy settings in the transaction SICF->Goto->Http Proxy and then the program worked fine.

  • Accessing XI web service from portal as client

    Hi all
    I need to access a web service which has been created on XI
    server. I want to acess it from enterprise portal as a web service client. please provide related links to achieve this.
    thanks in advance
    vaishali

    Vaishali,
    never did this before, but some general ideas:
    Do you have an WSDL for that web service? Then simply use your NWDS and select New --> Portal Service --> From WSDL (or similar). What I mean is the following: NWDS can read WSDL files and will automatically generate a proxy for you that actually generates an ordinary portal service. This portal service then can be called by standard means in SAP EP.

  • Access to Entity Service from Portal Application

    Hi Experts,
    I have a hybrid application which will be making use of both Web Dynpro and Portal Applications. I decided to use Entity Services to store my back-end data and can access it fine from the Web Dynpro project. I have included the public part of my CAF project into the Used DCs of my Portal project and while I am able to call the methods of the Entity Service at compile time, at runtime I receive an error message on the page:
    An exception occurred while processing a request
    I know in order to get this to work for Web Dynpro I had to include sap.com/tccolapi.sap.com/cafruntimeuicouplingapilib as a Library Reference and a few Used DCs, but while I have added the Used DCs to the Portal project, I am unsure of how to add the Library Reference. I assume this has to be added to portalapp.xml, but I don't know the syntax.
    Could somehow please reply with how to do this and whether this is all that is required in order to call Entity Service methods from Portal applications?
    Thanks,
    JP

    Hi Smith,
    Write click on the Project then goto the Properties=>Webdynpro References=>Library references
    add
    caf/eu/gp/api
    sap.com/cafruntimeuicouplingapilib
    And add the following DC in your project.
    1> External in caf/eu/gp/api (CAF domain)
    2> caf/eu/gp/api/wd (CAF domain)
    3> com.sap.security.api.sda (SAP-JEE)
    portalapp.xml
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

    <application-config>
    <property name="SharingReference" value="usermanagement, knowledgemanagement, landscape, htmlb, exportalJCOclient, exportal, SAPJ2EE::library:cafeugp~api"/>

  • Calling abap web service from webdynpro

    hi,
    i have a problem in that i am trying to call an ABAP web service published from r/3 in webdynpro. when i browse to the url generated by the r/3 application server it asks for my r/3 user name and password (not to be confused with http proxy user name and password). now when i enter it, i can see the generated wsdl without a problem. pressing escape gives me the standard 401 error.
    please note this is the r/3 username and password which i am required to enter. when i try to get to the webservice in webdynpro. here is my code:
      public void wdDoInit()
        //@@begin wdDoInit()
        try
              Request_YYMJ_WS_TEST1_DEF1_yymjServiceWebTest1 reekvesta = new Request_YYMJ_WS_TEST1_DEF1_yymjServiceWebTest1();

                   msg = e.getMessage();
              msgMrg.reportException(msg,true);
        //@@end
    i have also tried it this way:
      public void wdDoInit()
        //@@begin wdDoInit()
        try
              Request_YYMJ_WS_TEST1_DEF1_yymjServiceWebTest1 reekvesta = new Request_YYMJ_WS_TEST1_DEF1_yymjServiceWebTest1();
    wdContext.nodeRequest_YYMJ_WS_TEST1_DEF1_yymjServiceWebTest1().bind(reekvesta);     wdContext.currentRequest_YYMJ_WS_TEST1_DEF1_yymjServiceWebTest1Element().modelObject()._setUser("userid");     wdContext.currentRequest_YYMJ_WS_TEST1_DEF1_yymjServiceWebTest1Element().modelObject()._setPassword("password");
    wdContext.currentRequest_YYMJ_WS_TEST1_DEF1_yymjServiceWebTest1Element().setWfKunnr("0000000011");

              String msg = e.getLocalizedMessage();
              if ((msg==null) || (msg.length()==0))
                   msg = e.getMessage();
              msgMrg.reportException(msg,true);
        //@@end
    in both instances i get the error:
    Service call exception; nested exception is: com.sap.engine.services.webservices.jaxrpc.exceptions.InvalidResponseCodeException: Invalid Response Code: (407) Proxy authorization required
    please note
    1. i am trying to test this on my local sap j2ee server, on my workstation. i am not deploying this as of yet to the portal.
    2. i do have access to r/3.
    3. the r/3 application server is in our corporate intranet, and therefore excluded from being looked up by our proxy.
    4. our proxy DOES require a username and password. i added my user name and password to the webservice container section of the visual administrator, and excluded the r/3 server from the proxy list.
    what am i missing?

    Zafar,
    Check the endpoint in generated WSDL. Probably there is a host name that is not in "exclude list" for proxy settings (like IP vs host name, or FQDN vs short host name).

  • Calling an Abap Web Service from IBM WebSphere with a MYSAPSSO2 Cookie

    Hello,
    I have the following problem :
    I have to develop a proof of concept between IBM Web Sphere 5.1 and SAP AS JAVA 7.0.
    I have created an IBM sevlet in Web Sphere, I use a specific redirect from an SAP AS Java to call it, this way I can have a SAP Logon Ticket, and I manage to call an ABAP module function with JCO with SSO.
    Scenario 1 : browser  + authentication --> AS Java redirect servlet MYSAPSSO2 cookie -> IBM WebSphere servlet JCO -> Abap module function (ECC5)
    This scenario works fine.
    I have to do the same scenario with a Web Service and I don't know what to do.
    I try to use jax-rpc handlers but I don't know how to pass my cookie from my servlet to my handler.
    Scenario 2 : browser + authentication --> AS Java redirect servlet MYSAPSSO2 cookie -> IBM WebSphere servlet JCO -> Abap Web Service (ECC5)
    Has someone already done that  ?
    Regards,  Julien.

    Julien,
    Why are you using 5.1....go for 6.0 and its cake walk, i have integrated WebSphere 6.0 with R/3 uysing xi.....in a week.
    Scenario changed to:--
    Browser+ authentication --> WebSphere AS servlet request --> XI --> RFC/bapi --> abap webService
    Hope that helps

    The mail body should consist the link to the Agreement created in portal ( Link to navigate to the Agreement Creation ivew).
    So, the main requirement is user should navigate to the Agreement creation iview when he open the mail from UWL.
    Mail can be sent from ECC by using ABAP Function modules or by creating a workflow
    Please advice me on how can we achieve this requirement.

    Hi,
    You can call the iView directly by using NavigationTarget..
    http://myServer:50000/irj/portal?
    NavigationTarget=ROLES://portal_content/myFolder/myRole/myIview
    Plz note that the iView you are calling should be part of a Role.
    And the PCD location of the iView in the Role must be given for Navigation Target.

    Hi,
    Check your soapconfig.xml
    Your method should be defined there. If it's not there, then you're sure to get this error.
    For every method (in Webservice) that you call from your Portal Service, you should have it defined here.

    Hi All,
    This is resolved.
    Issue was from WF approver task, in that Request id is not binded to correct Container element,.
    After doing the correct binding it is working,

  • How to configure CA for access to a Web Service from an app deployed in WL

    Hi everyone.
    I have an app deployed in a WLS (10.3). This app acts like a web service client and works correctly (spring + cxf). The web service is provided by an external company and now they want to switch to https. They are using a self signed certificate. My company's support staff told me that they already configured the domain's trusted key store but the app fails to invoke the WS with the following error:
    2010/12/03 13:06:12.314 [ERROR] [org.springframework.scheduling.quartz.SchedulerFactoryBean#0_Worker-5] [ar.com.link.gp.services.impl.WebserviceConfirmacionServiceImpl                  -  55] - Error - informarPagos

    I'm the app's developer and I don't have experience in this subjects. Is the wl misconfigured? Should I do something from the app to reference the keystore?
    Thanks un advance.
    Sorry for my english.

    Hi user10939158, thank you for your response. Maybe I was not precise in my previous post. I know how certificates work and that I should not be using self signed ones. Due to a reason (non technical) we MUST use a self signed certificates. Considering this as a prerequisite let me clarify my situation:
    - We added the certificate to the custom trust store connfigured in WL
    - We configure the managed server to be more "verbose" about SSL stuff
    - When the managed server start it outputs the following lines in the log:
    <Dec 13, 2010 5:31:21 PM ARST> <Notice> <Security> <BEA-090169> <Loading trusted certificates from the JKS keystore file /wldomains/desa_domain/TrustCTWebservices.jks.>
    <Dec 13, 2010 5:31:21 PM ARST> <Debug> <SecuritySSL> <BEA-000000> <SSLContextManager: loaded 1 trusted CAs from /wldomains/desa_domain/TrustCTWebservices.jks>
    <Dec 13, 2010 5:31:21 PM ARST> <Debug> <SecuritySSL> <BEA-000000> <Subject: CN=jserver, OU=SWG, O=IBM, C=US; Issuer: CN=jserver, OU=SWG, O=IBM, C=US>
    - In this lines we can see the certificate that interests us (jserver)
    - When the app do a WS reqeust we see in the log:
    <Dec 13, 2010 5:32:43 PM ARST> <Notice> <Stdout> <BEA-000000> <trustStore is: /opt/bea/jrockit_160_05/jre/lib/security/cacerts> (THE VM's DEFAULT KEYSTORE!!!!!!)
    - If we add the cert to /opt/bea/jrockit_160_05/jre/lib/security/cacerts everything works ok but I have doubts that this is right.
    Why the default keystore is used?
    Thank you very much
    Regards

  • Calling an ABAP web service from a web dynpro

    Hello,
    I based my application on the: "Creating an E-Mail Client Using Web Dynpro's Adaptive Web Service Model" tutorial but when invoking the web service I get this type of error:
    Exception on execution of web service with WSDL URL 'http://mySAPBackendServer:1080/sap/bc/soap/wsdl11?services=Z_MY_WEB_SERVICE&sap-client=XXX&sap-user=XXXX&sap-password=XXXX' with operation 'Z_MY_WEB_SERVICE' in interface '{urn:sap-com:document:sap:rfc:functions}Z_MY_WEB_SERVICEPortType'
    Is this because I used Adaptive Web Service Model instead of Adaptive RFC Model? Or is it due to something else?
    thanks a lot,
    Tanguy Mezzano

    The function module is remote-enabled, it is exposed thus as a web-service, I can retrieve it with webservicebrowser application.
    Shantoo:
    I have tried to create a Web Dynpro with the RFC method to create the model but when I run and deploy I get a deployement error with:
    Result

    Aborted: development component 'WebDynpro_Webservice'/'local'/'LOKAL'/...'0':

    Anyway I want to use the web service model but I get the excepation stated in my first post.
