Ken burns will not deselect..

i am hoping for a quick fix here....but after reading several threads....i doubt that will be the case....my problem is the ken burns will not deselect...i select the clip...i click show photo settings...i deselect ken burns...i hit update...and it seems to re-render....but then when i play it...ken burns effect is still on...agian i check photo settings and sure enough it is selected....i have tried over and over...wasted more hours than i care to admit....project is way late....i have not even begin to get near a burn which sounds like that may be a problem as well...please help!

chelle - there is a problem with iMovie 6 in that once you empty the iMovie trash you can no longer modify the KB settings on the stills you imported before the trash was emptied. This is because iMovie strangely, trashes the original un-modified photo after the effect has been added. In order to be able to modify the setting later, it is necessary to open the trash and drag the stills back to the Clips Pane.
If this is what has caused your problem, you may have to re-import the photos again.

  • Ken Burns Effects not rendering

I am having isssues with Ken Burns effects not rendering. I have no iMovie 3rd-party plug-ins. I select the timing of the effect and hit apply and the photo clip hangs and will not render. Anyone else experiencing the same issue or have a fix??
    Thank you.

I have discovered the issue. It wasn't 3rd party plug-ins, but a Quicktime plug-in entitled "QuartzComposer.component". After removing, Ken Burns effects rendered as planned.

  • How to solve Audition CS6 error "The amount of audio to burn will not fit on the CD........."?

I have a brand new PC that is MORE than adequate. I have once succeeded in burning a CD after learning all about time tracks and merging them. (made a few with only ONE track)
    Two things:
    1) I find that I must add a CD marker at the end of the WAV because Audition CS6 erases whatever is the last CD marker I've made. Very frustrating but now I know I have to do this but I have no idea WHY!!
    2) Right now I have a WAV that is just over 1 hour and 3 minutes with a total of 637.74MB of info. When I try to export/burn a CD, I get an error message stating "The amount of audio to burn will not fit.......".  I am using TDK 700MB blanks with a Pioneer Blu-ray burner.
    Obviously it will fit.
What am I doing wrong, all of a sudden?

    Hey ryclark,
Thanks for responding. Something else is going on here.....
    Here's what I re-replied to our friend...
    Thanks for the response.
When I built this computer last Nov/Dec, it was built with the second
fastest Intel 7i, quad-core chipset on an 64-bit ASUS motherboard. It's  running
Win 7 Pro. It has a 500GB SSD "C" drive with another 14 TB of true hard
drive space. It is set up with 64 bit. I had been using Audition CS3 for  many
years and even go back to it's origin: Cool Edit and Cool Edit Pro. My
learning curve was minimal, sans the CD burning, which I used other software
for  which is now antiquated, so I need Audition for this. Between this and
IZotope 3 I've repaired and improved many a recording. All-in-all extremely
    useful software.
As for the idea "to burn it anyway", well the error message comes up and
that's it - if I "X" out of that message and try to burn again the message
comes  back  - so Audition will not let me. It is convinced that this file is
longer than it really is, but only when I add track  marks to it!
    There are only 11 tracks.
I was able to burn a CD of this same file but without all the track marks,
so the same exact file length/size will burn, only as the one track.
I've also succeeded in burning other WAV's , both greater and smaller, with
and without multiple track marks, without issue. Of course all with less
    than the CD's max. capacity.
This problem seems to be with this one file. I've even  re-made/re-recorded
the file from scratch with no change. There's something else  going on here
that I can't put my finger on. (I am "recording" LP's and making  personal
    CDs of them)
Also, only from time to time, I have another error after burning a CD that
states it could not verify the CD. For this I assume it is the blank rather
than AA? The first might burn without issue and with the second burn I
get the error. It is near the end of a stack of blanks, so.....
As for the need to "mark the end" of the file makes a lot of sense but of
all the other CD track-marking software I've used, none needed one to do
this,  but this IS Adobe after all.
You'd think there might be a smidge of intuitiveness with Adobe, but maybe
    not.

  • "Ken Burns effect" not working properly

Whenever I try to add a still photo to an iMovie 6 project, i get an error chirp and then nothing ends up in the timeline. Often, if I turn off the ken Burns Effect, it imports fine.
Do I need to reinstall? If so, won't that mess up the iLife '09 software already installed? And will it mean that I have to reinstall all my Slick Effects?
Anybody know the answers to these questions?
    Thanks in advance.

    As Rich839 writes.
My list in another way of putting it
*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.*
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
    • Delete iMovie pref file - or rather start a new user/account - log into this and re-try
    iMovie pref file resides.
    Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
    and is named. *com.apple.iMovie.plist *
While iMovie is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
    Now restart iMovie.
    • Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
    • Garageband-fix. Start it, Play a note and Close it. Re-try (Corrects an audio problem that hinders iMovie)
    • Screen must be set to Million-colors
    • Third party plug-ins that doesn't work OK (not relevant for iMovie’08 or 09)
    iMovie updated ?
    QuickTime updated ?
    Mac OS version ?
    • Program miss-match. iMovie 5.0.2, up to Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK
    • Program miss-match. iMovie 6.0.3 or 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • Program miss-match. iMovie’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
From LKN 1935. (in this case = iMovie HD (5), I tried it all, but nothing worked.
Your answer (above) has been helpfull insofar as all the different trials led to the conclusion that
there was something wrong with my iMovie software. I therefore threw everything away and reinstalled
iMovie from the HD. After that the exportation of DV videos (there has not been any problem with HDV videos)
to my Sony camcorders worked properly as it did before.

  • IMovie HD6 Ken Burns Effect Not working

Hi. I've been using iMovie HD6 with my old iMacG4. We used Ken Burns Effect a lot with no problems.
I just got a 1 year old G5 iMAC with Intel Dual Processor and it has the latest versions of Tiger and iMovie 06. Everything works but the Ken Burns Effect. When I use the Ken Burns effect, it shows up when I set it up but when I push the button to make iMovie render the effect, the clinic does not render. It looks like the computer is about to render the effect but nothing happens and I need to force quit iMovie to do anything else. On the set-up of the Ken Burns effect, the preview shows the Ken Burns effect working.
I had a previous version of iLife O6 so I tried deleting the iMovie from the application and reloading the iLife 06 but this did not help. Because I don't have iLife 08, I cannot download a version of iMovie O6 to give this a try.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks for your help, Andy

Since you just got a one year old computer, I would do the following:
    1. Close iMovie and trash the file com.apple.iMovie.plist located in User/Library/Preferences. iMovie will create a new .plist file on relaunch.
    2. Before you relaunch iMovie, do a permissions repair using the Disk Utility app on your Mac.
    3. Make sure that you have sufficient free disk space for iMovie to operate efficiently -- 25GB is recommended.
    4. Update iMovie and Quicktime to current versions, and do a permissions repair afterwards.
    5. If you have any 3rd party plug-ins, or Quicktime plug-ins, move them to another folder to temporarily disable them.
With the Ken Burns effect, do not empty the trash until your project is finished. Emptying the trash will cause you to be unable to edit a photo to which the Ken Burns effect has been applied.
    Hope the above helps.

  • Ken Burns Effect not working as expected.

    Hi,
I have created a slideshow in iPhoto 08 and want to have all of the slides use the ken burns effect except the first one (i want this to be a 20 second title photo). To get this to work, i have disabled the Automatic Ken Burns effect in the settings menu and then clicked the Ken Burns checkbox in all of the photos from the second one onwards. Even with these checkboxes selected, the photos just stay still and the ken burns effect does not work. Am i going about this the wrong way?
    Any ideas appreciated.
    Joe.

I believe that if you do not use the automatic ken burns effect you need to set the effect for each photo - pick one or two and with the KB slider to the left set the view for the beginning photos and then slide the slider to the right and set the end view - then it will transition between those two (I'm thinking that you can turn auto automatic and override it for just the first slide by making the start and end the same so the transition does not really do anything
Try that first (it is easier )

  • Kens Burns effects not saved in "original" saved slideshows in iphoto 11

i upgraded from iphoto 9 to iphoto 11. I have several saved slideshows. When I opened the saved slideshows in iphoto11 some of the Ken Burns effects were lost (some turned out to be Ken Burns effects on a landscape photos). I tried to add the Ken Burns effects to the landscape photo in the "original theme" and could not do so. The effect would operate until I closed iphoto11 and then would fail to operate when I reopened iphoto and ran the saved slideshow. This also occurred when I made a new saved slideshow. This issue only occurred in landscape photos and did not occur in portrait photos. The Ken Burns effects on a portait photo was updated when going from 9 to 11 and new Ken Burns effects could be added to a new and old saved slideshow.
Of the 12 Themes in saved slideshows only Ken Burns and Original have Ken Burns effects available. The Ken Burns effects are saved when Iphoto 11 is closed for both portrait and landscape photos in the Ken Burns theme and for portrait photos in the Original Theme. Landscape photos did not save in the "original theme"
I wondered if some how my library was corrupted so I went to a MAC store and made saved slideshows using their machine and their iphoto 11. I reproduced these results on an Apple store IMAC. Apple is aware

    SixPack:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. As TD pointed out, making a QT movie file of a slideshow involves rendering which is then encoded once again in iDVD. IMO, the best image quality for a slideshow is obtained when you create the slideshow entirely within iDVD. Of course there's no KB effect.
If you create the show in iMovie you can get around the double encoding by closing iMovie once the slideshow is finished. Then open the iMovie project file/package (Option-click on the project file and select Show Package Contents option), find the iDVD folder and drag the .mov file in it into the open iDVD window. This will let iDVD do the rendering of the various transitions and special effects and provide a better final product.
You must remember that iDVD's final resolution is only 640 x 480.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Why is the Ken Burns icon not present with the crop option on imovie10

I do not have a tab labeled Ken Burns after I enter the crop mode with imovie10.

The Ken Burns and other options will show up when you have a project defined and select a clip in the "timeline" of the project.

  • Ken Burns speed not uniform

I'm making a small (6 minute) slideshow in iMovie 4.0.1, using only stills. Sometimes when I apply the Ken Burns effect, it won't actually start until the time for that photo is halfway through. Then it zooms on to the end. It doesn't always happen this way, but about half the time. I don't know what I am doing wrong. I try to re-do it, but I can't seem to make it right.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Thanks Karl and Lennart for your help.
Funny, Lennart, I played with your suggestion last night, but was afraid I might corrupt something, so I didn't save the change. Now that I know it's ok to do, I'll try again tonight.
Karl, thanks for all the zooming tips. I checked the first photo that misbehaved, and I was zooming out from 1.0 to 1.15.
Are you saying not to use the Reverse button in the Photo pane, but to work in the Menu bar to make a reversed clip and turn it into a DV clip? Sounds like more work than I had planned, but I certainly will give it a try.
And when you say to remove the first 1 to 3 frames, would I split the playhead at that point and then delete the first part? Strange, I deleted half of the clip last night (as a test), but now I don't know how I did that. ...... Oh, wait, I remember - I dragged those points (forgot what you call them) under the main window with the clip, and then deleted, hoping I was deleting the right section. I did.
I do have iLife '05, sitting in a box. I guess I should just get brave enough to install it. Do the same Ken Burns problems exist in '05?
Thanks for all your help. I'm just so excited to be able to make DVDs for my family members.

  • Why is ken burns effect not working on individual slides I have amended when sent to iDVD

When making a slideshow in iPhoto, I changed the zoom and scan on individual slides as instructed in the Help dialog; these showed perfectly when played.  However, when I shared the slideshow to iDVD, those particular slides were just 'still' and there was no Ken Burns effect at all.  Why did this happen?

The Slideshow was created in iPhoto and then shared to iDVD.  The Ken Burns effect works on all the photos that used the basic "Ken Burns' setting.  However, on some of the photos I tried to amend the scanning to zoom into particular faces or parts of the photo.  When I played the slideshow in iPhoto, these amended photos were exactly as I wanted, but after 'sharing' it and viewing it in iDVD, those photos I had altered were 'frozen' and the Ken Burns effect did not work at all, neither the automatic version, nor the specific way I had set it.  All the other photos still had the Ken Burns effect as expected.  I am using  iPhoto 11, 9.1.5, I haven't had this problem in the past.
If you have any ideas why this should have happened I'd be grateful.
    Thanks

    VGA=Nvidia on board
    VGA_Driver=6.13.10
    Optical_Device=liteon SOHW-1653S
Other=NIL - OS is Win XP
I have a problem with my liteon DVD burner installation. Its a recently released model SOHW-1653s.
The drive has been installed and works fine for DVD-R single write DVD's and CD-R and CD-RW but will not erase or write to DVD-RW media. The errors I get differ when I try various DVD-RW media brands. from "illegal disk type "  to " illegal mode for this track "
I put the drive in a socket 370 Celeron running Win 98 and it will burn both DVD-R and DVD-RW OK.
So in desperation, I then shadowed the harddrive on my MSI machine and reformated and reinstalled Win XP.  The drive will still not recognise DVD-RW. I also tried various combination of media. mucking around with the IDE BIOS settings, changing around the drive from master slave configs and have uploaded the latest drive firmware and motherborad firmware. I contacted Liteon technical support and they advised to remove the nforce MCP IDE driver in leiu of a default one, but im not sure that is possible not to mention it probabaly would comprmise system performance.
The problem is obviously with the motherboard. Can anyone advise what steps to take to remedy the fault?
    Thx

    Thx Wonkaboy.
Well I didn't roll back ( to an nvidia dirver ) I went back to standard dual channel IDE driver - the XP provided one and the burner started to work. phew! Albeit at 2x DVD-RW instead of 4x. Not sure why that is....
Then I thought what the heck I'll try the nvidia driver that I had installed on the machine before I wrote the original thread. And guess what it also works. Im not sure what happened. Maybe a dll was not installed or something. I have spent 2 days on and off with all sorts of variations of hardware configurations including an OS reinstall. Anyhow it's working now and thats
PS: The driver that MSI provides is different to the one obtained by going directly to the Nvidia site. ie the nvidia one is 5.10.2600.412 dated 1/13/2004. And the one provided by MSI is 6.1.2600.0 dated 5/13/2002. Im now using the later one. I cannot say if the earlier one works.

  • Cd burner will not verify disk

My cd burner will burn but it won't verify the disk. I tried 4 times with no success, even bought new cds to try--still didn't work

Not sure why you're using a CD burner to verify the disk.
You need to launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utilities to verify the startup disk on your Mac.

  • Why is the Ken Burns effect not responding to individual slide settings?

First try creating a slide show in iPhoto'11 (I've used previous versions on older Macs w no probs).  Ken Burns eff for individual slide is no longer responding for ex when I try to set a time for slide or any other option for that matter.  It seemed to work OK when I first tried it but then the KB screen went 'dead' for individual settings.  Any ideas on what to do?

  • CD Burner will not burn

I am wondering if my CD burner on my Apple 12 inch Powerbook G4 is broken? I tried burning a CD of a playlist and this is what happened:
-insert disc, checking media, click burn disc to start
    -initializes
    -starts writing
-Canceling disc burn .....this may take a minute or two
    -ejects CD
-red stop sign with white exclamation mark and iTunes logo - The attempt to burn a disc failed. The device failed to respond properly, unable to recover or retry.
I have tried different playlists with different formats(WAV and mp3) and still no luck?...I tell ya, I have mixed emotions about Apple's laptops...so far I have had the "black screen of death" where the machine will NEVER go in sleep mode(which will eventually where out the screen) and now this?
any help would be appreciated, is there a diagnostic function I can run to check the machine? anything?
    thanks in advance! : (

This is funny. Not your situation, but as I was trying to help someone else, I came across this:
"To check the size of the normally invisible /Volumes directory on the active startup volume, open a new Finder window. Select the startup volume in the list at the left, then choose column view (the one at the right of the three views). From the Finder’s Go menu, choose Go to Folder, and paste in:
    /Volumes
The /Volumes directory becomes visible in the Finder; find its size by selecting it and typing Command I. My /Volumes directory is reported to be 12K.
Try to determine where your various caches are. There may be files left over from burning CDs or DVDs. The One Step DVD option in iDVD has been reported to leave files in the directory /private/tmp... "
I wonder if that's where your temporary file went. I hope this doesn't confuse you more. But remember I was talking about how if you burn a CD and it doesn't go through all the way, the burn file will stay around?
See if you can solve it with that.
