Labiew lib for modbus over RS485 over USB

Hi,
I have the following problem which I would be grateful for any help to solve.
I have a digital meter device (lumel NA5) which has RS485 interface, and modbus protocol over it.
A possible solution I'm contemplating is to get a RS485 to USB converter, and then talk to the device from Labview.
I found Labview library for serial and TCP/IP modbus. But is it possible to connect to this device using UCB?
 Thanks,
Eyal.

You can use this
1-Port RS485/422 Interface for USB
or if you need more ports...
2-Port RS485/422 Serial Interface for USB
4-Port RS485/422 Serial Interface for USB
With this device the serial ports will show up like any other COM port, you can target it in LabVIEW or third party software.

    Jay,
Most folks use an OPC Server, such as Lookout Protocol Drivers (sold under package "IA OPC Servers") to communicate with devices using the Modbus protocol from LabVIEW. The KnowledgeBase below describes this method in detail.
Drivers for Communicating to PLCs, RTUs, and Other Industrial Hardware"
As for direct Modbus protocol VIs for LabVIEW - I have never personally used them, but I have seen many Developer Exchange posts in the past where folks have used and recommended them. Simply search this developer exchange for "modbus AND labview" and numberous discussion threads on this topic will be returned.

  • When i plug the USB for my iPad into my computer it will connect then disconnect over and over again untill i wiggle the usb around alot. This is happening to all my ports. But not on the other computer.

Hi. Whenever i plug my iPad (Happens with ipod and iphone too) to my computer usb for itunes is will connect, then disconnect over and over again. It has happened for a long time but doesnt happen on my other computer. how do i fix this?

If you have a spare cable, try using that.  But the fact that this doesn't happen on your other computer (I assume using the same old cable) leads me to conclude that something else is at work.  Maybe even the "bad" computer.

I'm using a Rocketfish USB to Lightning cable for powering my IPAD2.  But when I plug it in the battery icon beeps and comes on then goes off...then goes on...then goes...all beeping every time.  Its as if its being unplugged and plugged in over and over.  It won't stop...and its not charging....just beeping.  I've check connections.  Any ideas?

    - While charging try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next try restoring the iPod via iTunes.  First from backup and if still problem restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
    - However, I really think that the iPod has a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.  If defective Apple should give you a refurbished iPod.

  • Error message popping up over and over for no reason

I keep getting an error message that says my USB has been disabled because it was drawing too much power. This happened the first time when nothing was in the USB port and it happens over and over even when my computer is plugged in and not using and USB ports. Sometimes when I turn my computer on there are 3-4 messages all saying that same thing on the screen. I tried restarted and turning off for a while and turning back on but it's still doing it over a week later! Help!

  • Kollmorgen AKD modbus or Telnet over ethernet TCP

I'm a beginner using LabWindows CVI. I have a Kollmorgen AKD driver that can communicate via Ethernet using either Telnet or Modbus protocol. To make sure the hardware works, I downloaded the Kollmorgen WorkBench Software onto my laptop and went through the QuickStart guide. I set my laptops address to a static id (192.168.0.100) and then set up the Kollmorgen driver to have a static id of (192.168.0.26) using the two rotary switches (S1 and S2). In this case, I chose 2 and 6. I connected my PC to the driver using the Workbench software and was able to successfully spin the motor ccw and cw. I also was able to move the motor to specific locations (90, -90, 180, etc) in relation to the set 0 position. The Kollmorgen software uses the Telnet protocol.
How would I go about connecting my PC to Kollmorgens AKD driver using Modbus/Telnet via Ethernet on LabWIndows CVI? Is there a modbus library or special functions?
I went to the Modbus website and did not find any examples...
Any help would be much appreciated.

There are free LabVIEW Modbus libraries, but these are API's built for LabVIEW:
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/4756
    https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-30140
There actually is a push to implement Modbus protocol support in CVI, and you can add your thoughts to the discussion here:
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabWindows-CVI-Idea-Exchange/Implement-Modbus-RTU-TCP-protocol-support/idi-p...
The Idea Exchange forum is used by R&D in order to help implement new features requested by customers in later releases. You can also try using a free C library that does Modbus protocol, since CVI utilizes C code. An example would be libmodbus:
    http://libmodbus.org/documentation/
There is also this community example which implements Modbus RTU programming over RS232 in CVI:

  • When trying to log on to my personal hotspot on my Ipone, after entering the password the system continues to ask for the password over and over again. How do I fix this?

When trying to log on to my personal hotspot on my Ipone, after entering the password the system continues to ask for the password over and over again. How do I fix this?

    Hi SheilaStuhr,
The troubleshooting steps detailed below can help get you connected to your iPhone's personal hostpot.
    Basic troubleshooting
See if your iOS device, computer, and wireless plan all meet the system requirements for Personal Hotspot.
Make sure Personal Hotspot is on: Tap Settings > Cellular > Personal Hotspot.
Check the Internet connection on your iOS device: Tap Safari and load a new webpage.
If one connection type doesn't work, try another. For example, instead of connecting using Wi-Fi, use USB or Bluetooth.
Turn Personal Hotspot off and on: Tap Settings > Personal Hotspot or Settings > Cellular > Personal Hotspot.
Install the latest version of iOS.
Reset your network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
If you still see the issue, restore the iPhone.
If you're still experiencing issues, try the steps below.
    Wi-Fi troubleshooting
If you encounter an issue using Personal Hotspot with other Wi-Fi devices, try these steps:
    Turn Personal Hotspot off.
    Turn on Wi-Fi: Tap Settings > Wi-Fi.
    Turn on Personal Hotspot.
If another device can't join your Wi-Fi network, make sure the Wi-Fi password is correct.
If the device can't see your Wi-Fi network, check your device name. Windows may not correctly show a device name that uses non-ASCII characters.
See how many devices are using your Personal Hotspot. Depending on your wireless carrier, the number of Wi-Fi connections may be limited to three devices at once.
If the other device still can't connect, turn Wi-Fi off and on for the device.
Make sure that your device can see other Wi-Fi networks.
Note: If you see "Unable to Join" or a timeout error when you try to connect a device using Wi-Fi, remain on the Personal Hotspot screen until the first device connects. After the device connects, you can leave the Personal Hotspot screen and use your iPhone normally. Your device will stop broadcasting Wi-Fi if you put it to sleep or if 90 seconds elapse and no connected devices use Wi-Fi. To share your Wi-Fi network again, tap Settings > Personal Hotspot.

Each time I try to update or install new apps, I keep getting asked over and over for my Apple ID.  I enter it correctly and then nothing happens.

  • ITunes asking for Password over and over, wont open, won't quit

Hi All... My MAC is Driving me mad, please help!!!!
I'm pretty sure this is a Cookie problem from some of the other threads I've found and because it started shortly after insaling "Safari Cookie" - which I have now removed.
    Senario is;
If I dare to open iTunes 10.6 (latest one) it will open ok then ask for my Apple ID and PW which I enter again and again and again... sometime with a Remember box (which I tick) and sometimes not.
I have persisted with this wondering whether it will have an end when maybe all of my DL songs are individualy recognised perhaps, but after pasting it in well over 100 times I gave up.  I've also tried Cancelling the request but it just keeps asking me over and over untill it crashes.
On one thread I saw that it could be because the something in the way iTune Store's PW are formated/storeage/processed has changed and I should go to to the iTunes store and reset my PW, but if I attempt to open the iTunes Store iTunes crashes - evertime so I can't do it.  I did manage to reset it by clicking Forgot PW but after changing it no it made diference.
Inscidentally, when it does crash, it reopens whether I click "reopen" or not.  If I quit, it reopens, if I fource close, it reopens.  To reboot I have to Restart, Force Close, Force Close Force Close untill the Restart App gets to close when Itunes is in it's DownTime of the loop.
Just thought of something odd too.... after doing the PW change online, I tried entering the new one (over and over for a while) and then looked at the keychain and it still contained the old PW.
I've tried reinsalling iTunes, deleting all cookies and the Keychain PW (not the certificate as I'm worried I'll loose my perchased stuff?). Changing PW in Apple.com, changing Cookie settings in Safari to "accept all", used Onyx to repair boot and done all the automated maintainance/cleaning/permissions.
I can't think of any other useful info... but ask anything you need to know and please help if think you can!!
    Thanks
    James
