Link colors in Safari are off
Hi,
I have a website, www.proactiveparenting.net that I built using an online company. I use Firefox to interface with the website because it gives me more features to use then Safari does.
My problem is the color of the links on just one of the pages on my website are red/brown instead of the colors I set them to be. This only in safari, on both Mac's and PC's and as I said only on one of the pages. The rest of the website's links are the colors they are designed to be.
Here is a link to the page on the website that I'm referring to, www.proactiveparenting.net/seminarsondemand.
If any of you have any insight into this issue I would be grateful
There are multiple ways to change the color of links, but here's a straightforward way to try. In the anchor tag for each link, place a style label such as this:
{a href="link.html" style="color:#000000"} Link text {/a}
(NOTE: I used "}" in the code instead of greater/less than symbols...the forums wont display those properly)
You can also define this using page-specific styles in the "head" section of the html page, or define them in a separate cascading style sheet. From what I can tell, styles have not been defined for links in the source on that page, and since there are only a few links on the page that are red, I'd recommend editing each of them independently.
The color value above is for black, but the blue links on your other pages have the color #333366.

Change visited link color in Safari 5.1.3
Visited link colors in Safari, most notably visited Google links when I return to the search page, don't change colors as they used to do... Actually, I think it's been that way for a long time (years) now but I am just now coming back around to being interested in why and if there is a way to get back to the days where new links were BLUE and visited links were GREEN (or whatever color you wanted)...
Is this still possible with the new Safari and if so, how do you go about setting this visted link color preference???
thanks... bob...This appears to be an issue affecting most versions of Safari from about version 5 onwards.
I recently experienced it with Safari version 5.0.6 and eventually found a fix adequate for my purposes.
1 - Sometimes simply selecting 'Private Browsing' (on Safari menu) and then deselecting it cures the problem.
2 - If that does not work I use the following Terminal command which has, so far, worked every time:
defaults write com.apple.Safari RegisteredSafariSyncClient -bool false
I must point out that I do not intend to use any sync services but it appears that if Safari gets confused it is necessary to use this command to reset its sync services.
3 - If you don't like using the Terminal command you could trash the following preference file although this more brutal approach is more likely to lose data:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Quit from Safari before attempting 2 or 3.
I have only tested the Terminal command on Safari 5.0.6 on a Leopard G4 without any user defined sync services but it will probably work on other versions and OSs. It is always safest to backup first. -
Visiting link colors in Safari??
Hi ALL,
When ever I visit a link in Safari application I have to hove over with the cursor to mark the link as visit.
In Google is this no problem, only here in the discussions forum. This is very annoying. This started in Safari 3.0.4 Tiger. I never hat any problems using Safari in Panther.
Does anyone experience the same problem ??
Thanks in advance ...

Link Colors are always overridden
Firefox 11.0 on XP SP3
In "Options, Content, colors" even if the checkbox "allow pages to choose their own colors" is selected, the firefox link colors are still used. Occurs in all the sites I have looked at.
Turning scripting on/off makes no difference.
Firefox 3.x does not have this problem on the same machine. It's possible that the dialog is displaying the actual setting incorrectly. If you switch one or both checkboxes (page colors, system colors), OK that, then return to the dialog and switch it again, does that have any effect?
A standard diagnostic step is to try Firefox's Safe Mode to see whether it is caused by a custom setting or add-on.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode] using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the Safe Mode dialog, do not check any boxes, just click "Continue in Safe Mode."
If links are colored correctly, this points to an add-on or custom setting in your main Firefox 11 profile as the problem. -
I've used previous Photoshop versions and recently upgraded to Photoshop CS5 (I've used the same Dell monitor with previous versions and it looked just fine before). For some reason the colors I use in Photoshop CS5's work-space are off.
For example, the menu and interface is the perfect grey color, yet when I select a grey on my workspace, it shows as a tan color (see attached image). The only way to make it show the true colors (its not just the greys, all colors are off), is if I select in View>Proof Setup>Monitor RBG, then select View>Proof Colors. Even in CMYK, the colors are off.
My Color Settings Working Spaces are set to:
RGB: sRGB IEC61966-2.1 (I've tried changing this to "Monitor RGB" and "Adobe RGB (1998)" and it doesn't help my issue)
CMYK: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2
Gray: Dot Gain 20%
Spot: Dot Gain 20%
Even though it looks off, when I Save for Web, the greys and the rest of the colors are saved normally. So it's just in my workspace, which makes it hard to figure out what true color I'm using as I'm designing.
I don't understand why this is happening and how to fix it. I shouldn't have to turn on Proof Colors - Monitor RGB every single time I open Photoshop. And of course, I can't even view it with Monitor RGB Proof Colors on when I'm working in CMYK. Any suggestions?I haven't had specifically the problem you are seeing, but it's possible the factory monitor profile is just wrong or corrupted.
Removing that Dell profile from within the Devices tab is required to get your system to use the system default sRGB profile, and if the sRGB profile doesn't give you accurate color (I believe the 2208 is a wide gamut monitor, so it probably won't) you may need to use a calibration device if you want really accurate color.
Some rules of thumb to consider:
If you want your non-color-managed output of sRGB files (e.g., most stuff shown by Internet Explorer) to exactly match what you see in Photoshop, just use the Windows default sRGB profile for the monitor profile (i.e., remove the 2208 profile).
If you want colorimetrically accurate color from your color-managed applications (e.g., Photoshop), then you'll want to remove the profile and specifically calibrate your monitor using a device made for the task. In this case, Photoshop and other color-managed apps will use the document and monitor profiles and accurately display your images, but non-color-managed apps will not, and will thus look different (in your case, much more saturated).
You might want to make a copy of that file (C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color\SP2208WFP_DVI.ICM) in a safe place before making any changes; I'm not sure whether removing it from the dialog might actually delete it.

Print Problems / Colors are off - mixing colors / grainy/ banding
Printer is set up with ICC profile and uses RGB mode. Printed colors are extremely off - tons of white spots / lines / smudge marks in the ink & the colors seems to be mixing. High res images are printing out extremely pixelated.
Using Ricoh sg3110DN printer; subli-jet R inks
If anyone knows what causes any of the following issues, please help. Any input is much appreciated. The colors being off, in the picture it looks like too much red, sounds like a misconfiguration of the printer and PS regarding color profiles.
I don’t have your printer, or one even remotely similar, so cannot comment on what to click on or what things are called in your printer driver, but typically what you do is, only have PS, or sometimes the printer, handling the color management. If neither is or both are doing color-management then things will be off, because either neither is correcting the colors or both are, when only one should be.
What you should try, first, is to turn off color management in the printer driver, somehow, using the Print Settings button at the top of PS's Print panel, then configure PS-Print to Color Handling to say Photoshop Manages Colors and specify the proper ICC profile into the Printer Profile area . This is probably the ICC you mention in your first sentence, or whatever ICC matches your printer model and specific paper and ink set you’re using.
Another possibility is that your monitor is not profiled and calibrated properly so the printer is showing the real colors and you’ve adjusted your images wrong. I think this is much less likely to be the issue in your photograph.
As for the other spots, lines, marks, I have no idea. Unless your image has noise or your camera sensor is very dirty, this are unlikely to be coming from PS, and may be some printer misconfiguration that is using the wrong amount of ink, or a printer hardware failure.

Aloha,
Would someone please take a moment to look at the link,
www.reefcheckhawaii.org/newindex.html
The link states and colors are as they should be in the
navigation bar on
the left, however, the image links on the right are
functional but don't
display any of the psuedo-class states, ie., visited,
hover... They were,
and I'm not sure what I would've done to change them. All my
links are
styled in rcwebstyless.css
Any input would be much appreciated!

Photos placed in muse are dull and colors are off
When I place a picture from photoshop into adobe muse the image looks dull and the colors are off from the original photo. I am saving the image in photoshop to a jpeg and then placing into adobe muse. Any suggestions?
In Photoshop chose Edit > Convert to profile. Here you can change the profile to sRGB and thake a preview of the result before apply the profile to your photo.

Powerline symbol colors are off

Link Color/Underlining in Safari
I'm working on building a website. Not knowing how to go about it, I started from scratch with a text editor and am still messing around with it. It's fairly crude, but I've created a CSS stylesheet to change font sizes and type. I'm trying to get links to show up as plain text in Safari, rather than blue and underlined. They show as plain text in IE and Firefox. Is this possible? I've tried adding a.link {color: black; text-decoration: none; } to the stylesheet and using class="link" in my <a class="link" .... text. My website is bruceeatonfurniture.com
Thanks!Hi
http://www.w3schools.com/css/csspseudoclasses.asp may be useful, as may the w3schools site in general. -
Please see profile pix to get an idea..so far only one response..was hopeful for a few more!

Text on a specific web page changes color as if a visited link, when it shouldn't. Too bad I can't upload a screen shot.

Link color with iWeb '08 (2.01)
So far I have found iWeb '08 (2.01) to work fine, except that the link colors are inconsistent. Even though all of the links are set to have a color (to indicate that they are a link), sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. The behavior seems to vary among browsers, and can sometimes change their mind after refreshing the cache. However, even on the same page, they are never all blue (or whatever other color I set for it) at the same time.
The site is www.TecnoTur.us and (as of August 27, 2007) I haven't yet activated the subscription link. There are several other links on the home page that work, although most don't show any link color before hovering over them with the cursor. When I open your first page the links are all blue and turn red when the cursor hovers over them.
The interesting thing is, if I stop your audio file from playing, the links are still blue but don't turn red for hovering. It might worth trying to upload the page with "autoplay" for the audio file turned off and see if this makes a difference.
As you say, the page has to be refreshed for red "hovering" color to come back. -
I've tried setting the CSS link colors to match my
background, and this has fixed the problem in Safari and Firefox
but not IE. It looks messy, thanks to the fact that the nav buttons
are non-rectangualr gifs with transparency on.
Any suggestions? Not really. The best way to do this is to use the CSS
a img { border:none; }
in your stylesheet. Then you don't have to add anything to
any image tag.
