List of file renditions with CIS API

Can anyone tell me how to get a list of file renditions with their related info (file type, file size, etc) through the CIS API? This would be similar to the web function
http://localhost/idc/idcplg?IdcService=RENDITION_INFO&dID=599&dDocName=EDAM000231
for example. I cannot find anything in the API that allows me to look up the renditions.

Yes I understand that most of the IOS software is supposed to make it easier for the new and less techie user. But if you are going to create all these versions and mini files for the photos, why not make them accessible to a power user. I'm not a coder, but I've been using macs for 25 of my 40 years.
What gets me is that you go to the trouble of identifying all the Faces. What is Faces really supposed to help you with?
I mean Facebook is better at face recognition than this. Don't go on a tangent - about this - just sayin'.

Loading a Flex WindowedApplication into another is not supported. However,
you might be able to access the WindowedApplication and size it. Sub-Apps
in AIR should be based on Application, not WindowedApplication.

My project was generated by the wizard, but when try to use the PDDocGetXAPMetadata function the project does not compile with this error: "'PDDocGetXAPMetadataSELPROTO' : undeclared identifier".

Export List of File Name with Faces Identified

I'd like to export a list from Aperture, into any file format - Words, Numbers, rich text, MS Word, MS Excel, anything!!
The list would show the file name and all the faces identified in that file.
My daughter is in her High School dance team. I've taken more than 1000 photos. Here is is the end of the season and I'd like to distribute the photos among the dancers/parents. They don't have the software or care to take the time to sort through the pics to figure out which photos they are in. I'd at least like to give them a list of photos so that can find the ones
Faces can be a helpful feature (though I hate all the file versions all over the place in iPhoto and Apeture).
I've read that Faces is not stored in the metadata of the file. I've tried to export metadata, but not much comes out other than the standard file size, camera settings, etc.
Easier to describe the situation, I guess, but would be helpful for many photos with people (weddings, parties, reunions, genealogy photos ...)

I guess a work around could be exporting the files from the identified faces. That seems like it would just junk up more storage/memory. I guess you could use a file list naming app and then delete the exported files - that just seems stupid.
I expect a little more from a souped up version of iPhoto for $79. Especially if I have Adobe Creative Suite with Bridge. If Apple wants to give a little shove to Apple, and bring novice users from looking for a non Apple solution, I think this would be an EASY no brainer.

And I'm back again.
This time, I'm wondering how I can use JavaScript to place a series of text frames from a list of files, preferably with the ability to specify criteria before running the script.
Here's the details: I work for a newspaper and I lay out stories for the pages (in addition to the other part of my job, laying out ad spaces, as detailed in a previous thread, for which I requested another script, thanks Andreas and Jongware ). The file names for the stories are labeled for the section they go in, like L- for Life, C- for Comment, S- for Sports, etc.
I'd like to create a script that asks for a criteria in a text box (where I can type L-, C-, S- or whatever else I need) and then places all of the stories, in a specified directory, whose file names match what was typed in the box, one text frame for each.

Getting error while uploading multiple files in sharepoint hosted app in 2013 with REST API

In one of my tasks, I was struck with one issue, that is "While uploading multiple files into custom list with REST API".
Iam trying to upload multiple files in library with REST calls for an APP development, my issue is if i wants to upload 4 image at once its storing only
3 image file and further giving "Conflict" error". Below is the attached screenshot of exact error.

THis is common issue if your file size exceeds
upload a document of size more than 1mb. worksss well for kb files.

Updating a file using CIS API

Hi,
Is there any CIS API that lets you overwrite an existing file in the UCM. the idea is, not to checkin a new revision but to overwrite the exiting one.
I looked at update API (ISCSDocumentUpdateAPI ) but it can only update the attributes of document not the file that is associated with it.
I also couldn't update it through the UCM web interface, so I'm thinking that maybe UCM does not allow such a thing and you always have to create a new revision no matter what. Is this a right conclusion? I hope not.
Any feedback is appreciated.

well, in some other similar systems (e.g. sharepoint) it is possible to overwrite contents if needed.
I can imagine many cases that one would want to update the content of certain version without changing the version.(if there is a concept of history of activities on the document then this can be logged or traced there).
Or sometime one might want to disable versioning for a certain document or folder completely in the system.
Anyway, I don't want to question UCM's approach but more to know the boundaries.
You mentioned it might be possible through Java. Do you mean CIS package or something else?
can you please elaborate more on this.

Create a report using the following SQL statement:
SELECT ID,
FILENAME,
CREATED_ON
FROM APEX_APPLICATION_FILES
ORDER BY CREATED_ON DESCThere are other fields available from the table, but the above gives you a start.
Then edit the report's Report Attributes.
Edit the CREATED_ON column and pick a Number/Date Format to use for the display and Apply Changes
Edit the ID column. In the Column Link section, enter:
Link Text: <img src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#download.gif" alt="Download">
Target: URL
URL: p?n=#ID#
Apply Changes and run your report

Thanks for chipping in.   I discovered something after trying what you suggested.   I have quite a few collections of hits by year from Time Life and Billboard. I've eliminated duplicate tracks that appear in both collections (or other CDs for that matter), but cross-reference the CD where I deleted the track and placed in in the comments section of the CD track I retained.   If I "search" by song name, only the remaining track appears.   But if I want to hear for example Classic Rock 1964, only those tracks remaining would be there when I pull up that CD.   So, I type "Classic Rock 1964," in the search field. First the boxes on the right of the screen open up showing album icons. Showing four tracks by album with a button to view 10 more, then four songs with an option to vies 18 more.   I finally noticed that at the top of the boxes is a blue band that reads, :Show Classic Rock 1964 in Music. When I double click on this blue band, all 24 tracks from the original CD appear in the song list format even though I had deleted two of them because they appeard in a Beach Boys CD.   On those tracks, I had referenced Classic Rock 1964 in the comments field.    So, bottom line, Search will also look in the comments field if you click "filter by all" in the magnifying glass to the left of the search field.   And you can move all tracks that if finds into a song list by double clicking on the blue band.

Lion server file sharing issue with windows API read/write ini file (GetPrivateProfileString)

I try to config lion server as file server for a windows application we use at work. All other computers are windows 7 or XP, lion server is the only mac. I choose lion server because it's size, quality and personal love of apple products.
10.7.2 lion server's samba file sharing works almost perfectly with all my windows machines, I can copy, delete, modify any text files or office files without any issue, but the most important windows application for my business doesn't work with samba file sharing. After some digging, I found it is because windows program can't read or write INI file stored on lion share. Windows API GetPrivateProfileString always returns empty if the INI file is store on lion share.

I can open/edit the in file using any text editor without any problem. The only problem is with those windows APIs. ACL is turned on for my lion share and assigned "delete" rights to samba users.
I install samba3 on the same server; it works perfectly with windows API. My windows program also works. Looks like there is something wrong with lion server's sambax.
I'd prefer to use built-in samba even I have samba3 working. Built-in samba is very immature right now, but considered how young it is, I will give apple some time to make it mature.
Does anyone have same issue or knows how to fix it?

All the memory is fine. The server rarely if ever goes down when there are only around 10-12 users connected. When there are 20+ users connected and working heavily it goes down often. When I say working heavily, I mean they are transferring huge files to the SAN (100GB+), sometimes 5 at a time per user, and there are a bunch of others who are reading large video files at a minimum of 220MB/sec from the SAN.
Though this worked on Snow Leopard without any issues, Lion just doesn't seem to be able to handle it. The odd thing is, on Snow Leopard there was only a single 1GB ethernet connection to a NAS system, whereas with Lion we have a much more powerful machine with a 6-port 10GB ethernet card and a 4 lane 8GB fiber card to a true SAN. You would think that the newer scenario with Lion would handle far more users with ease.
So far, very disappointing with regards to Lion's file serving performance.

Operating on a list of files with spaces in the filenames

I am writing a script that operates on all files within a directory structure. I want to pass the full filename and path to the commands in the script. I am using a for loop to do this. Unfortunately, I don't know how to get the "for" line to pass this info properly.
I have the following items on the desktop:
a folder with a lot of spaces in its filename
file1
file2
file3
If I run
for i in $( find * /Users/<username>/Desktop/ ) # where <username> = the correct shortname
I get:
Desktop/a
folder
with
a
lot
of
spaces
in
its
filename
Desktop/file1
Desktop/file2
Desktop/file3
If I run:
for i in "$( find * /Users/<username>/Desktop )"
I get every full path for each file on the Desktop, but they're all run together on a single line as below:
Desktop/a folder with a lot of spaces in its filename Desktop/file1 Desktop/file2 Desktop/file3
How do I get the following output?

Desktop/file2

Actually I tend to avoid loops like the plague. Don't know why, and of course you can't always do that …
Something piped into a *while read variable* loop is one of my favorite things to do in a shell script, especially throw-away scripts:
find * /Users/<username>/Desktop/ | while read file

It gives me tons of control. I've started with a simple one-off throw-away script to do something quick, and find it so useful that I add things, and eventually I end up with a 5,000 line utility that I cannot live without. All from a simple while loop.
My other favorite throw-away script is where I have a list of objects (often a list of files). I use a here document on those:

File Conversions with API...!

Hi guys...!
I'm searching for a file conversion product that comes with an API, which will enable programmers or developers to integrate it in their program.
The product must be able to convert PDF, HTML, Excel, Access, Power Point, and Word into a text document. Most of the product that I found do not come with an API.
Does anyone know a good product that does that...?

How change the File Open With list of apps?

In Bridge CS3, how does one edit the list of applications in the File > Open With menu (also available from the contextual menu for any image).
The list contains a number of applications that I would never use to open an image, and I would like to add to it, a new image editor (pixelmator) that does not appear in it. I have looked in the Bridge Help and the Preferences dialog and don't see any option to do this.

OK, I have now learned that Mac OS keeps the list of which apps to open what, in the "launch services database."
This database can be cleaned up and reset which somewhat simplifies the list that is displayed by the Finder OR by Bridge CS3.

Even after rebuilding the launchdb, I find that a large number of apps are "registered" to open JPG files, including Camino, Opera, TextWrangler and others with only a tenuous connection to JPG. I don't understand why this is, and I would still like to find a way to limit the JPG Open-With list to a few graphics programs. But cleaning up the launchdb as described in the linked pages, did get rid of some programs and added some missing ones.

Problem with getting a list of files in a directory

I'm trying to get a list of files in a particular directory. The problem is I'm also getting a listing of all the sub-directories too. Here is my code:

You are not doing anything wrong. You just have to test whether a given file is a subdirectory:
File directory = new File(dir);
File[] filelist;
filelist = directory.listFiles();
for(int n = 0; n < filelist.length; n++) {
if (!filelist[n].isDirectory())
