Making a PDF from LAbView Report

Hi,
How do can I make an PDF-file of my LabView report?
I was thinking of using Adobe PDF writer and just printing the report a PDF-file.
Do I have to do anything else that just install Adobe Writer or do I have to do some kind of configuration?
Is it also possible to name the PDF-file the same as the measurementnumber that I give it?
I currently work with LabView 7.1

Hi Geni,
As far as I'm aware all you have to do is select the Acrobat Writer as the default printer and then just print as you would normally have done to the physical printer. Doesn't that work for you?
Here's another thread that talks about how to use Acrobat Writer to print a VI programmatically. Is that something you can use?
Have fun!

Actually, the question boils down to; does the framework support the fonts?
I believe that my question re. this working in the designer was valid. The designer does not use the framework, so if it works there, it is either a framework issue or a runtime print engine issue.
I believe if you use the code below, it will list fonts available to the framework:
    foreach(FontFamily ff in FontFamily.Families)
    System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine(ff.Name);

  • Secure PDF from Crystal Reports

What's the best way to secure a .pdf from Crystal Reports? I'm using reportdocument.exporttostream(ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat) in vb.net(VS2005) to create an IO.MemoryStream which is then sent via email. I'd like to add a password to this file before it's sent by email.....is it possible?

At least one of the 3rd-party Crystal report Desktop Scheduling tools listed at: http://www.kenhamady.com/bookmarks.html
provides this functionality.  It even allows you to dynamically control the password via a field/formula inside the Crystal report. It can also take care of the emailing part.  You can call and request the processing from your own application (via a command line API).

    Hi Shiv
As I said, only TTF fonts are supported with the PDF format otherwise it will give an error message as "Failed to export". Enhancement request for the same has been raised. It might get fixed in the coming service pack.
Try exporting the report which is using only ttf.

  • Background Colour Incorrect when exporting to PDF from Crystal Reports 2008

    Hello All
When exporting to PDF from CR2008 the background colour of the crosstab is incorrectly displayed. The problem is as follows to create a crosstab with a grey header row and column details in white we have used the following trick.
Format Cross Tab Border Background is set to Silver.
Crosstab Expert Grand Total Background colour is set to white.
The result is a crosstab with header in grey and details in white.
This report displays correctly in CR2008, and exports as seen on screen to everything but PDF. When exporting to PDF the Crosstab is completely grey taking on only the Background colour of silver, and ignoring the Grand Total Background colour being set to white.
What is strange that when I print to PDF the format is also displayed exactly as required,
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    Some additional details.

If this is a big issue for you then please purchase a case and a Rep can duplicate and escalate to R&D.
As a work around export to Editable RTF and in Word 2007 you can get a PDF export plug-in and then export to PDF.
    Thank you

  • How do I print a multipage doc to PDF from LabVIEW?

I have an app which prints reports for my client.
The reports are mostly graphs, with some attached labeling info.
These might be one or a hundred pages, all results of a modeling run.
I have several dummy VIs, which are laid out the way the page should look (different from the screen), and it can print to the printer, a PNG file, a BMP file, or a JPG file.
Right now, each page is a separate PRINT VI operation. In other words, the same VI may be called multiple times, with different data, and told to print.
This has worked well for several years. But now, the client would like to print directly to PDF, with each PDF file containing one to a hundred pages.
I've tried things like "Win2PDF", but that makes a separate file for each page. That's understandable, since I'm calling the PRINT VI multiple times, but it's not what I want.
I have never used the REPORT GENERATION VIs in LabVIEW, but my first look at them was not promising. One example complained that I cannot move or rename the "Documents and Settings" folder (I didn't really want to, but it apparently tried). Another generated an OK HTML file and printed it, but HTML introduces all kinds of uncertainties about page boundaries and such.
Anyone have suggestions about a better answer?

Blog for (mostly LabVIEW) programmers: Tips And Tricks

    Hi Coastalmainebird,
I've done somehting like this myself, also without the report toolkit. I've found controlling Word/Excel myself gives more control, and is easier to understand (If you are familiar with macro programming in Office).
You can place the objects into a WORD file, setting their position to fixed and so on (I'd have to check for the exact details, but you probably know this part already). I DO remember that "inlineshapes" and "shapes" are handled seperately by word. Make sure to only use one of the two types (Inlineshapes move with text I think, whereas Shapes float). A simple way would be to take a snapshot of the front panel required and pop the picture into the word file (preferably one screen per page).
Once all pics are in the file, print using the required PDF generator. I've used JawsPDF in the past and it worked almost good. It had the odd problem of missing a print from time to time, but otherwise gave good results.
I have always placed some kind of notifier in the word file to let WORD know to print a PDF. Then, using a macro which is tied into the event structure of WORD (A tricky thing to get running by the way), I check at run-time when printing if it's a designated "PDF" print. I can then route to the correct "printer" to get the job done properly. The event structure of WORD is quite useful as you can (As in LV) capture most user actions and act accordingly.
If you have some time, I might be able to dig up an example. Could take a few days though since I'm in a new company since I've done this particular piece.
    Hope this helps.
    Shane.

  • Generate pdf from labview using DIAdem

    Hi
I am trying to generate a report (pdf) using DIAdem in LabVIEW 8.5, but I can't get the the template that I generate myself, to work properly.
I have some data (attached in the VI), which is a table with 3 rows, 1st: sample no, 2nd: frequency, 3rd: result.
What I need on my report is
    1) The frequency plottet along the x-axis (equally spaced), and the result plotted along the y-axis (it's percent (%), so they really has to be multiplied with 100, so the y-axis should go from 0-100)
    2) A table below with 2 rows, 1st: frequency, 2nd: result
    3) Some extra information about who conducted the experiment, date and so on.
I have tried and make something like it, which you can see in the attached pdf Data.pdf.
I am all new in DIAdem, so can someone please help me make this template, I can't get it to work properly. I can't turn the table, so I get two columns instead of two rows, and I can't get the graph to plot the data as I want to.
Hope to hear from someone soon, today if possible, thank you very much.
    Best regards

    Hi Brad
I have tried to build an installer and compile an exe and nothing seems to work regarding the template, eventhough I place the TDR file in the same directory as the executable. I can see that the pdf, that is generated, is using the right template, there is just no data in the pdf, I have even tried to plot the graphs in the VI, so I am sure the data is there, pretty weird.
I have attached my little example in the following zip, containing the VI, TDR and installer. It is made in LV8.5 and DIAdem 11 and I run it on the same machine as I compile i.
I have made a ring control to choose between two different paths for the TDR, because the path doesn't seem to be the same when you run it in LabVIEW and running the executable.
But again, I can see that it uses the right template, or else the pdf would just be blank, but there is just no data
Can you take a look at it?
    Best regards

  • PDF from Interactive Report - general question

    Hello,
I read in another post that there may be plans to make it so that PDFs downloaded from an Interactive Report will include the formatting in the report. Is this true? If so, will it work with the Apache FOP?

    No Christina,
First I went under report attributes on Interactive reports under download
    Download formats:
    CSV and PDF
I checked both. CSV format is fine. PDF format is corrupt.
Next I then went in using the below:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/apex/apex31nf/apex31rpt.htm
It tells me I don't have a print server defined. I am trying to get the INLINE method to work.
I see in the ADMIN there is a print server configuration section though it is not totally clear as I would think that you would get the default print configuration as you would with any other PDF docuement.
