Missing Developer toolbar in new application
Hi,
There are several developers in my team and one of them cannot see the developer toolbar in a newly created application while others can see it. Any ideas on what might be causing this? We are in version 4.2
You can only see the developer toolbar when you start the application in the same browser window (different tabs will work) as the APEX Builder environment or from the APEX Builder environment.
So check whether the developers use the same way of opening up the application...

Lost Developer Toolbar after upgrade from 4.1 to 4.2
After upgrading from 4.1 to 4.2.1.00.08, we have lost the Developer Toolbar.
Have others run into this with the upgrade or fresh installation of 4.2.1?

Following the guidance there to look at the instance ID and other preference settings, I compared our three instances. The two that are not having the problem are both at 4.2.0.00.27.

You inspired me to take a closer look, and look beyond the upgrade.
After the upgrade, my application passed a superficial checkout. Later, I exported my application and in the export file, the Instance ID was not NULL. I had not noticed any problems with how APEX was working.
The problems of the missing Developer Toolbar, Instance ID = NULL, and a new one, did not occur until I removed my application and tested a clean installation of the workspace and application. This is the sequence of events. The immediate triggering cause is clearly one of the following:
1. Deinstall application (ID 820) from APEX 4.2.1.00.08 instance, running 11g (11.1.0.7.0).
2. Remove workspace (PVA_AH9_R12)
3. (drop the parsing schema, xxpva, and related tablespace)
4. (create tablespace and schema user, xxpva)
5. Import workspace (PVA_AH9_R12) from an APEX 4.2.0.00.27 instance.
6. Import application (ID 820) including supporting objects from an APEX 4.2.0.00.27 instance, running 11g (11.2.0.1.0).
The next day I noticed the Developer Toolbar missing problem, and found that Instance ID is NULL.
Also, after Exporting an application in Database format, I cannot download the file from the Export Repository. When I click the filename link, I get 'Access Denied' instead of the normal download dialog.
Does this suggest anything else I should look into?
Do you think I should post this as a new problem/question with more detail about the sequence of events?

I was referred here by customer service. I have downloaded Photoshop elements 5.0 to a new PC. After accepting the agreement I receive an error message saying "Your Adobe Photoshop Elements user name, organization, or serial number is missing or invalid. The application cannot continue and must now exit." There is no place to enter the serial number.
All your pictures will remain safe even after uninstalling the program. Your pictures are saved to your system in form of catalog present at C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\Catalogs\<your catalog><br />When you reinstall the program you can open this catalog and view all your photos again.

How to Develop New Application in CRM
Hi all,
I need your help to guide me in deciding which transactions, customization and/or development tools that i should use for developing new application in CRM to replace an existing web based application?
The following steps are some the current system business processes:
1. User (requester) login to System
2. Click Generate a Request
3. Fill all requirement information on the form which contains user specific fields
4. Click save, system will save the request form with status Issued and generate a control number and display it.
8. User can print the form by clicking Print Information.
9. A notification e-mail will be sent to the selected approver to approve the request
10. Once the approver receives the notification, he can log in to the system and approve/reject the request.
11. Once done, a notification e-mail will be sent to the selected the requestor.
12. User can print the form by clicking Print Information.
Also, the new application needs to enable the user to add/review/update attachments, keep tracking of histories, add note and to have other CRM features.
Please note that last year we developed many portal applications using Web Dynpro for Java and all applications are working fine. However, our management want us to use CRM system as a solution to migrate this web application to SAP.

Let's eliminate the easy stuff first! ;-)
1. Double check your are modifying the correct file/directory. Do you see
other changes to application files, or is this just specific to portal?
2. Check you are sync'ing to the correct server and application.
3. Check using the Data Repository browser that your documents are ALL in
the Master Data Repository for the server. Use the context URL of the
DataSync WebApp for you application: e.g.
http://localhost:7501/p13nAppDataSync/index.html (for the P13N application)
4. Check the contents of the Portal Data Repository (using the browser) and
see if your changes are getting out to there.
5. Check the portal is entitled, visible, allowable etc.
I would be surprised if you have found a bug (but you never know!) , as the
system has had a fair bit of use by now. If after double checking your
configuration you still haven't found it please ZIP your *-project directory
and I will run a test here using SQL Server.

I think you need WLP 4.0 SP1 - I believe this bug was fixed for SQL Server.
This will definitely explain why your changes aren't showing up after you
sync!

In APEX 4.x, Developer Toolbar is showing on some Pages but not on others?
This just happened today.
I've tried logging in/out of the application and changing the setting in SHARED COMPONENTS|Edit Definition back and forth to include "Available with Edit Links".
Some pages display the Developer Toolbar and some do not...
I'm using XE 10g as the DB.

I just tried closing the browser window and opening APEX in a new one. Now it is working again....

Version 20 places all of developer toolbar components together which is kinda of a killer. Before you could just have the style viewer open on the side with only having a small toolbar at the bottom. Or work with HTML by pressing a single button.
Is there a way to make it behave like it use to without me going back a version. Or a way to just open the style viewer on the side without anything else.
thank youThe new version is hopeless - which is a pity because this feature is just about the only reason I stick with FireFox as a developer. Previously I could hit Ctrl-shift-I to bring up the nice site panel, which often with wide-screen monitors is dead-space. The HTML panel wasn't shown by default and I seldomly needed it. I could hit ESC to get rid of it.
NOW - the ESC key does nothing so I have to move my hand back to my mouse and click on the 'x' button to get rid of the panel. I can't get rid of the HTML part and the pane takes up the whole of the lower part of my screen which is NOT dead space.
In the truncated CSS panel at the bottom of the page I can only see the first couple of styles - often I want to see further down the list so I just about always have to scroll.
NO: opening in a separate window is NOT a solution!
If you're going to change the layout without first doing some research on how people use a tool then please make sure you have the option in the first few releases to go back to the old layout - just in case, on the off chance, what you're doing is really really silly! -

We are using JDev 11.1.2 and JHeadstart 11.1.2. We have been having a multitude of problems when running applications through the migrator (and we have now been told by an Oracle consultant that the migrator is problematic), so we are trying to re-write things from scratch to bring them over from 11.1.1.4 to 11.1.2.
I have been working on a simple application from scratch and discovered that the messages for constraints on the entities that I am using are not showing up in the ApplicationResources_en.properties.file. We noticed a similar thing with converting an application using the migrator and that post is found here - java.lang.NullPointerException ADF_FACES-60097 message ***WITH SOLUTION*** -.
However, I didn't get a single reply to that thread.
I initially thought it was a migration issue, but this application is from scratch. Whenever I tried to input an invalid value into a page column, the following exception would be received.
"java.lang.NullPointerException ADF_FACES-60097:For more information, please see the server's error log for an entry beginning with: ADF_FACES-60096:Server Exception during PPR, #"
This Null Pointer turned out to be the missing message from the ApplicationResources_en.properties file. In the new application I just wrote, I had to manually edit to add the following lines to the ApplicationResources_en.properties file and the application no longer gives me the error if I input an invalid value.

I have done some further testing. We are using a re-usable Business Components .jar file to access our entities. We import the .jar file into the project and create the ViewObjects and ViewLinks from that .jar file.
It APPEARS that a test case using the HRSchema and using the Entities & Associates generates the constraint error messages, but when I use the .jar file of re-usable business components imported into the project, those constraint error messages are not created in the ApplicationResources_en.properties file. I have created two testcases as well as the re-usable .jar file that I can send to you to show what I mean.
This behaviour seems to have shown up in 11.1.2 as there was no problem before this.
Please let me know where you'd like me to upload the testcases.

Creating a new application profile
Hi Hyperion Gurus,
Need your advice on an issue we are facing now:
In our current application (HFM 11.1.2.2. EPMA), we have created our application profile with only English as the language. We have 3 applications residing on our current profile.
We now have a requirement as to include Japanese as a language. I am aware that I can not make changes to the alias dimension in the existing application. This means that we will have to create a new application profile.
My question is: What will happen to the existing shared library that we use for our current applications? When I create a new application will it impact the old ones?
Any thoughts and ideas are greatly appreciated!

so I did create a new application profile and included the languages I needed. And when I created the application, the Alias dimension is blank.
Here are the steps that I followed:
1. Create a new application profile from the desktop client.
2. Opened work space and created New application from Administer > Consolidation Administration.
3. Registered the application to Shared Services.
4. Transformed the classic app to EPMA in order to use the Shared library

Error while publishing new application

I'm trying to publis a new application to the MobileServer (latest version installed, 10.1.0.3.0). Using the publication wizard I created a new application, from master repository connection I selected the Database tables to import.
At the end of the wizard, I select the "publish application" and the popup menu appears asking me for Mobile Server infos:
URL: https://<myserverip/webtogo
User: administrator
Pass: <it's ok i checked it through web access>
Then it tells me :
java.lang.Exception: 401

But the user has the administrator access :0
So I created the JAR file (and SQL).
If I try to publish using the web access, using the jar file to publish, I have another exception:

Creation of initial DB for new application
Hello,
I have to develop an application in a not connected environment, having synchronization with a master repository, so I'm using Oracle Lite.
As far as I understood the process of creation :
1- Create local DB
2- Create the application
3- Publish application
a. define authorizations
b. define tables to synchronize
4- Get new application on client
I'm facing difficulties to create the DB : the tables I need already exist in the master repository, so I made a local copy of them.
But I need to use Views existing in the master repository : how can I define them since they refer tables that are not present in the local database ?
The process is not really clear for me.if you need to create a win ce application my way to do it is the following in a bit more detail:1)have your cab file ready. the cab file is the installation file for your application. there can be more than one
2)Create your database through your sql developer (if your using oracle as your repository database)
3)use your workbench to create a new project, create your publication items based on your tables. add some sequences if you need to.
remember that if you need to do some data subsetting then you need to put a variable, for instance
select * from customer where salemanid=:myvariable
4)create a new publication and add your pub items and sequences, save it
5)run your packaging wizard, create a new application , select the application folder that you have your cab files and select you
publication (if you dont know your repository url, you can see it through the mobile manager->data synchronization->repository
6)select the cab files from the corresponding tab. then select publish the application. enter the administrator's credentials and click ok
. by the way if you have a new cab file in the future and you want to update your app, then use packaging wizard to edit the app
7)go in the mobile manager, create a new group of users . go in the application and give access to the group. then create new users and
add them to your group.
8)go in the application->data subsetting and enter the myvariable value (remember that if it is string we put it in '...' if it is number i think you dont need that)
9)then go to your client,pda in my case . open your internet explore and go to your server/webtogo. select setup from the top corner,choose your client and run it
10)enter your user's credentials and whoops dmagent is registered.
11)go in start->programs->oracle msync and sync. your database is now created, click ok and exit. oracle update pops up saying you have a software update.
its your cab files, install them too!

As a result IE6 contains Internet Explorer Developer Toolbar button but it's not work on Win 7 machine.
I think settings shared with IE9 somehow and it's not work, or what it can be?With ZAV 9 we have another option available:
When you snapshotted the Internet Explorer Developer Toolbar, was the "Internet Explorer Snapshot Compatibility Mode" option enabled? This can affect how the snapshot turns out and should be enabled anytime a component will hook into IE.
Have you tried building the virtual IE6 by having ZAV scan the system for installed applications? That might be worth a shot to get this working in Windows 7. -

2. How can I build one page showing master-detail rel, I need to show Depts as a select list then when I select a certain deptartment the bottom of the page shows the related employees and have the ability to change the sal and comm columns only.If it is not possible then I am satisfied with two pages with the same functionality.

here's an easy way to setup a master-detail form on emp/dept as you've described it:
1) create a tabular form page on EMP using the "Tabular Form Wizard" being sure to select only the Sal and Comm columns in the "Updatable Columns" field of the "Identify Updatable Columns and Primary Key" page of the wizard.
2) add a Dept lov to your wizard-generated tablular form (let's say it's page 1)
------create the new item (let's call it P1_DEPTNO) with a type of "Select List with Submit"
------define the LOV for this Dept item as something like "select dname, deptno from dept"
3) add a branch to the page to have the page redraw itself when a value if a value is selected from the LOV above
------create the branch with a type of "Branch to Page or URL" that branches back to itself (page 1 in this case)
------set the branch up with a "Condition Type" of "Request = Expression 1" and have "Expression 1" be the name of your item, P1_DEPTNO
4) add a where clause to your tabular form query so it pays attention to your selected Department
------"where (to_char(deptno) = :P1_DEPTNO or :P1_DEPTNO ='%null%')" should do it for now
and that should do it.

Since I exported my application ("Run and build application") I don't see the developer toolbar. It seems that it is gone from all pages. I really don't understand what is going on. Anybody an idea?

Silly question, but you are logging into the Application Builder interface aren't you? You will only see the developer toolbar if you login as a developer to the Application Builder.
If you are logging into the App Builder, then we'll need more details like -
1) Which browser are you using
2) Are you using your own custom page template
