Need Help: Could WEBI report directly based on EXCEL file be refreshed?

In 3.0, Could WEBI reports directly based on EXCEL file be refreshed, after exporting to BOE platform?
I've made a test on that and find out WEBI report could not be freshed in Infoview while DESKI report could.
Some colleague suggest me to build the WEBI report based on a Universe created based on the EXCEL file.
I want to confirm, is it a by-design that we could only refresh WEBI report based on universe? or I could do some setting to made the refreshment of WEBI based directly on EXCEL file works?

You could try the Rich Client Product Guide [http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir3/en/xi3_web_intelligence_rich_client_en.pdf] but I don't think it is a problem...more like a feature by design - it makes sense.
You could try the route of creating a universe on top of excel... See posts

    You cannot hide the block or columns in Webi thinking that you are accessing Webi reports through infoview. You should make the report invisible by matching the table/column borders and the text color with the back ground color. And align the tables appropriately so that it doesnt appear as empty space in the report.
    But why are you having table 1 when you want to hide the table. Similarly with column 1 of table 2. Just get the data you need in the report.

    Hello,
    I assume GBS Agency Expert 6.7.6c is some sort of database or data source? If you have an ODBC driver then create or use a System DSN to the database. Then you can create a report using that DSN.
    Otherwise I suggest you contact the makers of GBS Agency Expert 6.7.6c and ask them how to connect to the database.
    Let them know CR is ANSII 92 ODBC 3 compliant.

    You can trigger the AT LINE-SELECTION event by double-clicking a line. The system sets the status TEST and deactivates the function code PICK. The status TEST contains function codes FC1 to FC5. These are assigned to pushbuttons in the application toolbar. The page header of the detail list depends on the status.

  • Need help on Oracle Report format

    Hi,
    I need help on Oracle Reports. I am generating a report in excel sheet. I have a column which is 13 digit number (In database it is CHAR datatype). In excel sheet it showing some thing like 9.78381E+12. I want to show complete number like 9783805591331.
    Also sometimes leading zero's are not showing when my column values is something like 0098794859583. I need to show the leading zero's as well in excel without losing them.
    Below are the parameters i am using for the report
    DESFORMAT=SPREADSHEET AND DESTYPE=FILE
    My Oracle 9i developer version.
    Any help on this would be much appreciated.

  • Missing values in F4-help in web reporting

    we have a problem with our F4-value help. When we open this value help in web reporting of bw 7 we only see in the value help a few entries and not all the contents of the master data table. We have checked the infoObject and query settings. Are somewhere in the system a hidden configuration which we haven't checked? The query is 7.x.

    Check the properties of your infoobject in advanced tab., in query designer
    Currently you can see the values only posted and that is the default option.
    If your requirement is to see all the values stored in master data then change the option in your query and as well as in Bex properties tab of your info object.

  • Webi report gives old data in infoview on refresh

    Hi Experts,
    We are facing this strange issue on a webi report after some data updation in the SAP BW infocube.
    The webi report is based on the universe which is connected to an infocube in our BW dev system. After some data updation in the cube, we had tested the report in webi rich client and everything was working fine (the newly updated data from cube was reflecting). Now, we had tested the same report in infoview, but it was showing the old data only. We had tried exporting the report once again to infoview, refreshed universe structure; but without any success.
    What appeared to be even more strange was that the last refresh time was also not changing. While running the report in the infoview it hardly takes 40secs. But on refreshing it says the last refresh time was 5mins.
    Any help on this would be highly appreciated.

    it sounds like when you refresh report in Infoview you get the cached data, it never goes to the DB to fetch new one...
    You'll need to enable traces on webi processing server as well as SOFA/MDX tracing and review log files to see if requests are going to db or not and what is being returned.
    It could be at webi proc level or at your BW level.
    You can also try disabling webi caching in webi proc server properties and see what happens.

    We have a requirement to schedule a webi report based on event generated by ETL loads.
    Scheduling works fine based on events.My requirement is If event is not generated we want to schedule the report at specific time.Lets assume event will generate between 10 Am to 11 Am.If event is not generated report will not schedule,but we want schedule report after 11 Am.
    Please let us know if any one have solution for the above

    You can schedule your report based on the file event to look for the trigger file till 11 AM. If the file not generated, you can use the below VB Script to generate the file in the desired location by 11 AM.

  • Need help in FR Reports Migration which are built on HFM

    Hi,
    We have all the Hyperion applications [HFM, Shared Services, FR and other BI + Services] on Hyperion 9.3.1.0 and we have to migrate the FR reports that are built in PROD environment to UAT.
    These FR Reports which are available on PROD are working fine with out any issues.
    To migrate these FR reports from PROD to UAT, i have followed below steps.
    1. Export the FR reports one by one from PROD Workspace to .des files.
    2. Login to UAT Workspace, Import -> as "Financial Reports" -> select the file and then click on "Import".
    3. Select "Tools" -> "Change Database Connections" on Workspace , select the file and changed the DB connection file to the PROD HFM Database Connection file.
    I have run the copy utility on HFM application to sync up the data between the environments and i have verified for the data too. Its looking good.
    When i try to open up the FR report, I am unable to get the data on UAT environment and I am suspecting Connection related issues as my collegue hinted that there could be issue on the row and column level on the FR Grids. I haven't worked much on FR side, so not sure whats the issue.
    Though i am not sure, I have tried changing the FR report connection details by opening it on "notepad" and tried importing the file and tried opening it. Even then i see no data on the report.
    Can you please look into my steps and help me in getting FR reports run on UAT environment. Thanks you.

    Being able to get into the application and being able to see data are two different things.
    Log in as the same user that was trying to run the report and pull a data grid to see if you get data. If you get data on the forms/grids, but not on the report, something is screwy with reports.
    As another troubleshooting step, why not make a new report to grab some obvious numbers. If the new report works, but not the ones you imported, something didn't go right on that import. If the new report doesn't work, you have another issue.
    Finally, you should not have to make any changes to grids, etc, in the report directly. If you were manually updating the report, the only things you should worry about are :
    DATASOURCE APPNAME
    DATASOURCE_ID
    DATASOURCE_NAME
    DBNAME
    SERVER
    DATASOURCE_DETAILS
    Also, if you are dealing with a report book, be careful. Report books apparently not only have "links" to the reports you want to run with the POV settings, the report book also has copies of the reports themselves! I don't quite understand why that is, but when you re-import a report book, it will attempt to store those reports as well.....

In the report i want to change the direction based upon the language selected. ie, if the language is english, the direction should be from left to right and if arabic the direction should be right to left. In the report documentation i couldnt find any help regarding this. So please help at the earliest.

    Dear all,
    I need help in creating an ALV report with dynamic columns based on the Year and period entered on the selection screen. for example if in the year we enter 2002 and period range from 10 to 12 then we should get the 3 columns display for cost(example) for period 10/2002, 11/2002 and 12/2002.
    Can anyone help me in achieving this dynamically since the user can enter the year also in intervals along with the period and data also needs to be populated in the corresponding columns.

  • Need Information on "Web Reporting in Portal"

    Hi Experts,
                    I want to gain more knowledge on the reporting side. Is there any   reporting strategy that talks about Portal, web reporting and the Business Explorer. What is the best practice for reporting in NW 04's in most corporations? Is there any case studies? If someone can provide me with that info. will be a great help for me. Forum points are guranteed.     Hi Padma,
    Most of the Organizations are moving towards web reports due to the following advantages:
    1. The web query can be used without the GUI installed on the system. For Bex you need the SAP GUI installed.
    2. As per SAP the web queries run faster than the bex query.
    3. Bex uses excel which has a limitation of 65,536 rows where as your web query does not have that limitation.
    4. The web query can be accessed from any browsing cafe also which is not the case with Bex Query.
    Another important point is that you get EP(enterprise portal) by default installed with BI 7.0(ABAP+Java stack). So EP is used for publishing the web reports. The trend and the recommendation from SAP is to use EP for BI web reports. In most of the cases you would have a separate EP consultant apart from a BI consultant. The web report created by the BW consultant is published as an iview by an EP consultant.

    we are doing the following development.
    This Enhancement is for Service Cace of IC Web Client. We need to Integrate the Survey View based on the Type of Transaction Select as a Follow Up Activity.
    If Some body can walk through the basic steps please do it.
    If somebody can tell me way to find out the corresponding business object in which Survey View is there it would be of great help.
