Parsing problem with storeVarrayAsTable set to true

I'm having a wierd issue that only crops up when I set the storeVarrayAsTable to true in my schema. I'm using 10.2.0.
As part of my processing I'm running a query that returns string data as well as XMLTypes. Using java, I'm processing this output and creating some output. The problem is occuring in the following snipit of code:
String ts = ors.getString(1);
String vendor = ors.getString(2);
XMLType poxml = XMLType.createXML(ors.getOPAQUE(3));
Document doc = poxml.getDOM();
// Problem HERE
NodeList nodeList = doc.getElementsByTagName("somexmlElement");
After executing the doc.getElementsByTagName(), I'm getting the following error:
oracle.xdb.dom.XDBDOMException: OCI--0002: Message -2 not found; product=RDBMS; facility=OCI
at oracle.xdb.dom.XDBDocument.getElementsByTagNative(Native Method)
at oracle.xdb.dom.XDBDocument.getElementsByTagName(XDBDocument.java:368)
This is only happening when I set the storeVarrayAsTable to true in the schema. Any ideas?

This is because gnome-settings-daemon overrides your settings, so all your scripts are rendered useless once you login. In order to preserve backlight settings across reboots you should do the following:
Once in Gnome, adjust brightness as per your taste using Fn keys then open a terminal and run:
/usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon/gsd-backlight-helper --get-brightness
That should return a number corresponding to the brightness level you've just set (e.g. 6). Then run:
gnome-session-properties
then Add a new startup program -- enter a name (e.g. brightnessctrl) and the following command:
pkexec /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon/gsd-backlight-helper --set-brightness 6
where 6 is the number you got from the first command. Now brightness settings should stick across reboots.
