PNG resize issue

Im resizing a PNG in my app, on iOS (on device it looks fine) but on Android (simulator) it looks jagged. It looks fine on android when it is not resized.
I have turned on smoothing and tried redrawing the bitmap using a matrix scale but it doesnt work.
Anyone know whats going wrong?
Thanks!

To me it sounds like you made an app for iOS on the 300x480 resolution screen and now trying to make it look good on the bigger android screen (480x800). Like in any graphics program, when trying to enlarge an image, it's going to look jagged.
For my app, I initially made it for the Android platform at 480x800, then without changing the code or images, I made a build for iOS platform at 300x480. Interestingly, on the iOS, there is extra space around the app (as if I had increase the canvas size in Photoshop).
As you can see in my screen shot below of my Android device and iPad device side-by-side, http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/d9dad2af4c.jpg

• Please help-Trying to compress to Mpeg-2 for Convention, also resizing issues

Hello,
I just recently finished making an AMV in Adobe Premiere 5.5, and I am having trouble trying to figure out how to compress it into an Mpeg-2 source for a competition/convention.
I also have these massive black borders on the side of my video that I know is probably due to improper resizing on my part, and although I have tried to remedy this with a new avisynth script of the exported uncompressed AVI (before compressing to MPEG-2), whenever I try to run the avisynth script in either VirtualDubMod or TMPGEnc (the converting program recommended by: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/mpegforcons/) it crashes, although the original video does work.
This is the avisynth script I have created for the post-video:
FFVideoSource("C:\Users\Freeman\Desktop\Fight the Power.avi")
FFCopyrightInfringement("C:\Users\Freeman\Desktop\Fight the Power.avi")
AssumeFPS("23.976")
SSRC(48000)
LanczosResize(720,352)
AddBorders(0,64,0,64)
per the recommendations from the guide listed below
I do not know if the resizing I have set up in the new avisynth script will fix my resizing issues, and I would like to improve that as much as possible, so if someone could clarify for me, that would be greatly appreciated.
You may also notice some audio issues throughout the video, however on further playback this never appears to happen in the same place. I believe this is caused by poor audio quality, and I have a friend of mine working on setting up a lossless source that I will try to recompress with the video before friday, however if someone else might know what is causing this, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Here is the current MPEG-2 I have, however for obvious reasons, I do not consider it acceptable as of yet:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IIKYWRXF
The original export from Premiere is Microsoft AVI Uncompressed, and then attempted to convert to MPEG-2 (I tried multiple settings, they all have the same sizing issues), and as I said before, no matter what I try to do with the avisynth script, it crashes.
I have even tried taking out every line from the new avisynth script except for the first two detailing the location of the video and audio, however this does nothing, it still crashes.
I had to convert all my original source avisynth scripts to AVI files (that are massive, as I am editing from 52 episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood), and so editing the original scripts is impossible at this point, because to my knowledge, that would mean I would have to reconvert them all to AVI, which took over 16 hours, and then that would probably make me have to re-edit this entire video (which if you look at it, based on length and how much work I've put into it: is impossible, especially given the time constraints).
So anything that I can do to fix this will have to be done to the export from Premiere, unless there is a way to work with the AVI's that I made from the avisynth scripts.
The source is primarily 16:9 DVD (Fullmetal Alchemist) and very few parts from a 4:3 DVD (Naruto). (You can recognize these parts in the video, it is whenever someone is rowing in a boat during the lyrics "Row Row")
The avisynth script for all the fullmetal alchemist DVD's is as follows:
mpeg2source("F:\DVD RIPS\Music Video Rips\Brotherhood\Disc 1 (1-7)\MainMovie\FMA_BROTHERHOOD_P1_D1\FMAB 1-7.d2v", cpu=4)
ConvertToYV12()
Spline36Resize(848,480)
#TTempSmooth()
FastLineDarkenMod()
LSFmod(strength=120)
LUTDeRainbow()
And the avisynth script for the one Naruto DVD is as follows:
mpeg2source("F:\DVD RIPS\Music Video Rips\Random\Row Row\MainMovie\ROW ROW\VTS_01_1.d2v")
TFM()
TDecimate()
Spline36Resize(848,636)
Crop(0,78, 0,-78)
These recommendations came from what I could figure out from:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/avtech31/
If anyone is curious, the song is "Libera me from Hell", and it is 44100 from what I could tell when I ran it in WINAMP (I converted it from mp3 to wav through WINAMP, if there is a better way that I am unaware of, please let me know).
I know this is extremely long, and thank you anyone who has taken their time to look through it, it is greatly appreciated.
The deadline for this is friday (5/20/11), so I need help with this ASAP and thanks,
Dexter

Dexter,
Those "black borders," if they are visible in the Program Monitor, are most likely due to a mis-match between the Source Files and the Sequence Preset.
If they are only showing up upon Export, then there is likely a mis-match between your Sequence and your Export, and could be either with the Aspect Ratio, or if using non-square pixels, the PAR (Pixel Aspect Ratio).
I'll defer any commens on AVISynth to the experts here.
Good luck,
Hunt

• Has the wallpaper resizing issue been fixed for iOS7?

When I upgraded to iOS7, I immediatley downgraded back to iOS6 because I was unable to resize my wallpaper picture and I didn't care for the new look. Does anyone know if the resizing issue has been fixed???

You mean for the Lock Screen, how it won't let you shrink it?
No, that issue still exists in 7.0.3.

• PNGs resizing themselves when dragged to stage.

I'm having a heck of a time trying to figure out why my PNG
files which are 791px x 567px in my library resize themselves to
593px x 435px when I drag them to the stage! Dragging GIF or JPG
files to the stage does not resize them. What am I doing wrong...
this is driving me nuts?! I'm using Flash CS3. I didn't have this
issue with Flash 8.

The PNG files are actually 96dpi, changing them to 72dpi
makes no difference... they still "shrink" when dragged to the
stage! This is frustrating as it only happens in CS3, dragging the
96dpi PNG to Flash 8 does not resize the image... it still looks
good.

• Photoshop CS6: Save for Web Automatic Resize Issue

Some my .psd files (CS6 Photoshop, MAC OSX 10.7.5, Processor: 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7) automatically resize to a percentage. I can't figure out what the cause is, and it will not allow me to change it back to 100% to slice out images for web.
File Type is .psd - RGB 8 bit/color
Fie Dimensions are 1400px by 10,800px.
File Size is 60MB
The file is extremely slow to open and adjust anything within the file as well, not sure if the issue is related.
I am working off of my desktop not off of a server.
Attached is the save for web issue.

I have the exact same issue, just on certain files?
I have to 'save as' instead of 'Save for Web'?
What causes this to happen?? I also have the preview window displaying a gif when I've got the PNG option selected???

• Upload and resize issue

Hi,
I'm having a very strange issue with Upload and resize, using Imagemagik as library. I usually use "Proportional - Fixed with", with the width I need. But the upload page gives me this error:
Notice: Use of undefined constant height - assumed 'height' in /home/webadmin/mydomain.com/html/includes/common/lib/image/KT_Image.class.php on line 338
The upload is configured as this:
function Trigger_ImageUpload(&$tNG) {
$uploadObj = new tNG_ImageUpload($tNG);
$uploadObj->setFormFieldName("imagen_pob");
$uploadObj->setDbFieldName("imagen_pob");
$uploadObj->setFolder("../poblaciones/");
$uploadObj->setResize("true", 800, 0);
$uploadObj->setMaxSize(2500);
$uploadObj->setAllowedExtensions("gif, jpg, jpe, jpeg, png");
$uploadObj->setRename("custom");
$uploadObj->setRenameRule("{id_pob}.{KT_ext}");
return $uploadObj->Execute();
Are you having issues with this trigger?
Thank you,
Ruben
Edit: If I use GD the error is this one
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 25165824 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 16432 bytes) in /home/webadmin/mydomain.com/html/includes/common/lib/image/KT_Image.class.php on line 1774
There is no room for just 16432 bytes?

Thanks for your reply.
So if I understand the script works fine on one server (memorylimit 120mB) but not the other (memorylimit 20 or 24 mB)?
That is the difference. Now I have made a restriction on both the size (kB) and max height/max width. That gives the opportunity to upload images of up to 1.2 mB and maxHeight/Width of 2300 pixels (memorylimit of 20 mB). The figures were found by trial and error.
Well sounds like a server issue. Is the new server php-cgi or apache mod php?
I don't know but I will have a look (Probably apache). Out of curiosity- will there be a difference?
Have you tried making a .htaccess file with php commands to control memory needed?
Yes and it didn't work - either I have made an error or the host have found out that many people due to still larger imagefiles do their best to bypass these memory limitations
I am currently looking into som javascripts (FLEX (found one in the ADOBE forum that may be able to do the trick) /FLASH may also be a possibility). Hoping to find a way to resize on the client and upload the reduced image to the host in one go. Many customers requests such a feature.
Thanks for your help.

• Accordion - Ajax within accordion panel resize issue

Hi,
I'm in a little bit of a fix.
I have an accordion whose panels have ajax enabled regions
within them.
The ajax enabled regions have search forms which give a
search result within the same page (which is basically within the
panel as well) once a button is clicked.
My issue is that once I click search, my result set increases
the size of the page causing the accodion panel to enable a scroll
bar. Is there some way in which I can have spry resize the panel
instead of it enabling a scroll bar?
If I open and close the tab ofcourse, the region is resized
to cater to the search results as well with no scroll bar.
Incase this is not possible, is there a way to reopen the
selected panel on a page refresh event as all the tabs are closed
when a refresh occurs.
Thanks!
When the accordion opens up, it shows

Hi kundalani,
If you are using Spry.Utils.updateContent() to load the
contents of the panel, you can pass in a callback that sets the
height of the AccordionPanelContent to "auto" after the new content
has loaded:
function LoadContent(ele, url)
ele = Spry.$(ele);
Spry.Utils.updateContent(ele, url, function() {
ele.style.height = "auto"; });
<a href="#" onclick="LoadContent('e1p2',

• Flex 3 Window Resize Issue

Hello all,
I'm a beginning Flex programmer and I've run into an issue I
don't know how to resolve. The problem is this: when my app is
compiled under Flex 2 all of my window components resize nicely
when the browser window is resized (<mx:Application width="100%"
height="100%">). However, when I compile under Flex 3 this
doesn't work; all components stay the same size and I get
scrollbars at the edges of the browser window if I shrink the
browser window.
The backwards compatibility and migration documentation
doesn't say anything about this functionality being changed. Anyone
have any idea why this is happening, and how I can get the older
functionality back?

Setting the scroll policy to off certainly gets rid of the
scrollbars, but it doesn't actually fix the resize behavior of the
application.
I ended up fixing this problem by cheating: I set up a resize
handler for mx:Application that resizes the main Container in the
app.
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="
http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
xmlns:custom="components.*" layout="absolute"
width="100%" height="100%" minWidth="780"
minHeight="580">
<mx:resize>
<![CDATA[
try { bpanel.width = width; bpanel.height = height; }
catch (err:Error) {}
]]>
</mx:resize>
A hack, yes, but at least things work again.

• Help on font sizes and browser resizing issues

When browsers resize the text, they can have a significant impact on the my designs. I am using CSS positioning, and not tables. I am also using relative font sizes, usually ems. I can get everthing to look right on my pages when the browsers are set at the normal or medium text size. But, i run into problems when the browser is set at the large or largest text size. I need help dealing with this issue in general. But, here's an example that best illustrates the problem:
I set some white-colored text on a dark background in a banner at set at 800px x 50px. The font size is set at 1 ems. The background color for the rest of the page is white. So, when the white-colored text fits easily within the banner, everything works okay. But, when the browser resizes the text, the white text flows beyond the dark background color of the banner and becomes invisible on the white background of the page. Is there some way to use margins, padding, or line size to manage this type of situation?
What are the best tactics to use regarding font size when using CSS positioning ?
Thanks for any help on this question.

Thank you for your prompt response. I will put my page on a test server when I can. But, for now, here is my code below.
I get your point about flexibility.The question is how? What are the best approaches to use? I have the sense that more experienced designers have some conventional tactics for ensuring the pages read reasonably well even when the text size is enlarged in the browsers, but I am not sure what approach might work in general.
Part of the issue with this particular design is that I am actually using a background image in the header/banner. And it has a set height:51 px. I don't want it to repeat it vertically whenever someone enlarges the text size in their browser.
Again, I would appreciate any help offered.

• Repeating Frames Resizing Issue

Hello,
I've been using Reports 6 recently having been using Reports 10 up until now, and I've got an issue in the Report I'm currently working on.
When I try to resize any of the repeating frames on the report, they appear to default to a much large size...example...
If I have a repeating frame containing 1 field and I try to reduce the size of the frame so it fits snugly around the field, as soon as I click on one of the draghandles on the frame, it immediately resizes the frame horizontal or vertical (depending on what draghandle is used). So far, this has just been annoying more than anything else and I've generally been able to avoid any problems by simply undoing the change, or redrawing the frame.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a setting off in my version of Reports? Or is this a general problem?
Thanks

Thanks for your feedback.
The reason I have 4 repeating frames is because each frame belong to a different group.
<SOME TEXT> is infact set to vertical expand.
I came up with a solution by using a 5 lines that stretches with FRAME 2 and set no lines
property for FRAME 3. That way FRAME 3 repeats 7 times horizontally, one in each box created by the lines with FRAME 2. Thus when FRAME 2 expands, the expanding lines creates the 7 horizontal boxes.

• PNG File issue

Hi,
I have a PNG with transparency (clients logo), only one layer, all is fine in Photoshop.
When I attach/insert into AutoCAD software it shows an unknown image/layer behind the logo. Please note that I do not have an issue with the transparency being 'whited' out.
I have the following response from CAD software support but it does not address the actual problem (the unknown image/layer)..
I think the issue is related to the fact that the logo contains "alpha channel" (also referred to as transparency) information. The segments around the logo that show in the white and grey checker are the parts that Photoshop considers to be "inivisble" and will treat them this way in loaded the logo on top of another image inside Photoshop. To the best of my knowledge, Autocad does not understand alpha channel information and will show these parts as solid white. They will obscure any object that is beneath the in the draw-order.
Any advise or direction in removing the unknown image/layer (trees) is much appreciated.
And please don't tell me to source a new image file.
Thanks, Jay.

Whoever prepared that png image kept the "hidden" information that is normally not seen because of the transparency hiding it from the viewer's eyes, which includes part of a photo.
Autocad does not seem to support transparency/alpha channels in png images, and displays ALL the pixel information, including the hidden pixels, and, as a result, that photo and other pixel junk is shown.
Unfortunately, Photoshop does not automatically remove that pixel junk (at least, not in my CS6 version) whether saved for web or through the save as function if you wish to retain transparency. (Which is the reason why that pixel junk was retained in the first place.) So you will have to remove it manually. In your case it is easy: you do not wish transparency, merely a white background so it displays correctly in AutoCAD.
1) open the image.
2) File->Save For Web.
3) Select PNG-24, and turn off transparency. Set the Matte to white.
4) Save.
Done. You removed the transparency, and replaced it with white. Import in AutoCAD.

• Macbook Pro Retina, Photoshop CC, resizing issue

Just a basic question, got the latest Macbook Pro this summer, and everything seems to go fine. I downloaded the trial version of CC the other day, just to try it out.
However, I'm about to resize a couple of images for my blog, 900x600 is what I usually use, and well the images turn out really small in Photoshop, but I think whatever, maybe it's just the application. Then I try to open it up and it's displayed at 900x600 but it's really pixelated. So I try to upload it to the website, same issue. I also tried saving the image in twice the size, 1800x1200 - same problem though. It looks "normal" in Photoshop, but when I upload it to the blog it's really pixelated and blurry. So... any solution?
Also, I have a couple of images that I edited on my old laptop without Retina display, and they seem fine. I tried saving them and opening them up in Photoshop aswell - looks just fine. No pixels, nothing. Is there any way to have Photoshop appear and edit the images the same way it did when I wasn't using a Retina display?
Cheers

You are not the only one. I have the same issue. I am just wondering how to save it to get normal image??

• Finder Column Resizing Issue

I've noticed that now, in Column view in Finder, if you resize a column to a larger size for example, and then click on a Folder, the next column will be the same size as the previous column that was made wider. However, most of the time, it is just that folder I needed to resize and the subsequent folders, I do not need to. Is there a way to change this behavior?

Hello:
Could you detail a little bit more about the column sizing issue you are having?

• Resizing issue using PageFlip 2.25

Hello all! I am running into an issue using the free version of PageFlip (http://pageflip.hu/free.php). I'm trying to resize the flash file, but when I do, the mouse rollover in the corners appears on the opposite corner of the current page. I was able to get everything to work OK at one size, but after I resized the stage and all the other elements the problem showed up. I have examples posted at the links below. The first the page is sized to 600 pixels (which worked); the second is sized to 720 pixels (with problems). I would appreciate any help! THANKS!!
