Policies & Procedures Management

Hi everyone,
I have a large Word document which contains policies and procedures for our company. It has somewhat of a hierarchical layout, divided into numbered sections and subsections with a table of contents. Management would like me to move the document into SharePoint
in a way that would:
1) Allow linking directly to certain sections from other documents and pages.
2) Ideally allow tagging of individual sections for aggregating and searching. (i.e. Accounting, HR, Expenses, etc)
3) Allow individual sections to be edited with and approval an publish process. Multiple sections could be under edit simultaneously by different users.
4) Allow new sections to be inserted while automatically altering the numbering scheme and table of contents.
5) Allow the entire document to be printed at once.
I've been trying to wrap my head around how to structure this that will allow me to meet the above criteria. Should I use a list, pages, or documents, or some combination?

  • Urgent : proc_MatchSchedSubscriptions blocking SQL process (and so SharePoint 2007). Event log is managed by this procedure and contains millions of entries

    Hello,
    We have an intranet platform with 8000 users on SharePoint 2007.
    We currently have issues every day around 9am or 8:30am : The intranet is not responding (white page loading during minutes) until we kill a process in SQL that is blocking every other process.
    The process that is blocking other calls a procedure called : "proc_MatchSchedSubscriptions"
    This procedure manage 3 tables :
    SchedSubscriptions
    EventLog
    EventSubsMatches
    We notice that the Table EventLog has 1.3M entries after 4 days (this table is cleaned every weeks right ?).
    This is a really an issue because if we don't kill the process, the intranet won't work at all. We have to do that almost every morning.

    Assuming that you are on the latest SharePoint patch level, I would recommend opening a ticket with Microsoft. Any edits to the SQL databases will result in your environment being in an unsupported state.

    Tom,
    I am a novice and attempting to achieve a proof of concept of single sign on.  One example I read stated one should install Identity and Access on VS2012.  I did this on two different machines.   One was in the office domain and it shows the
    item "Identity and Access..." in the context menu of the MVC project I created.  The other machine is my laptop.  I followed the same procedure that worked on the desktop, yet the Identity and Access item in the project context menu does not show.
     One difference is that the laptop is not part of a domain, but I am attempting this proof of concept in Windows Azure with the laptop, since we do not have a test AD in our corporate domain.
    Is this the right forum to inquire about this issue?  Do you have a recommendation about a better forum?

  • Retention Policy and Managed folder based retention

    What is difference between "Retention Policy/ Policy Tags" and " Managed Content Settings"?
    In my setup , my managed folder folder become general folder after following steps
    1. Created Managed folder
    2. Created managed content settings for IPM.post and IPM.Appointment with retention action "Delete and Allow recovery".
    3. Created managed policy and applied to 1 mailbox, and this is working properly
    But After that,
    1. Created 3 retention tags(1 for inbox, 1 for sent, 1 personal).
    2. Created retention policy combining these 3 tags.
    3. Applied to SAME mailbox
    4. Ran 'ManagedFolderAssitant'
    **After this, Managed folder become general outlook folder.
    So, cant I have "Managed folder based retention for managed folders" and General retention for "Inbox,Sent"

    Exchange 2010 RTM introduced Retention Policies as the successor to the Message Records Management (MRM) technology introduced in Exchange 2007. MRM was the successor to Mailbox Manager Policies in Exchange 2003. Message Records Management is called MRM
    1.0 and Retention Policies is being called MRM 2.0 for short. MRM 1.0 as well as MRM 2.0 are both available in Exchange 2010. Only difference is we can manage Retention Policies from the EMC and EMS, but the Managed Folder Mailbox Policy is only Managed from
    the EMS through cmdlets in Exchange 2010 SP1.
    It completely depends on your requirements when to use MRM 1.0 and when to Use MRM 2.0.
     Certain new features are added in MRM 2.0 (Retention Policy) which allow us to manage our mailbox email items at very granular level. But if we are still happy with earlier version MRM 1.0 then we can continue using Managed folder mailbox
    Policy in Exchange 2010.
    [ Note: If we are Using the Retention Policy (MRM 2.0) then we can view the expiry of  each and every email items of the folders on which the retention Policy is tagged and this can be only view from OWA and Outlook 2010, But this feature
    is not available  for  Managed Folder Mailbox Policy (MRM 1.0) ]
    We cannot use the Base Folder only switch in MRM 2.0 because it is TAG  specific (DPT, RPT, and PPT) not Managed Folder specific.
    Managed folder Mailbox Policy is folder specific this would be the major difference.

  • Windows 8.1 Group Policies For Internet Connection Sharing?

    Are there any more detailed policies available other than simply allowing or blocking Internet Connection Sharing?
    I need to find out if there are policies allow management of Internet Connection Sharing?  For instance we would like to allow ICS, but control it so that it cannot be set up by the user in unsafe manner.
    We would like to either set the PSK password in advance or at least disallow weak ICS WPA passwords.  It would also be a good idea if we could set up ICS so that only domain joined computers from our domain could join the ICS session from another computer
    on our domain or else disallow direct access and file sharing between the ICS host and the guests joining the ICS network.
    Can these types of things be managed via group policy?

  • Oracle Apps 11i: Output Post Manager is down

    Hi Experts,
    I was working on Oracle application cloning 11i lately and after completing the clone, my conc. manager output post manager (OPP) is not coming up in target system.
    I  tried to fix the issue by running "cmclean.sql" and thn ran autoconfig on application node, but still the issue persists

    In ICM log file, I see occurrence of these error messages in bulk.It looks Mangers are wrongly defined or fnd_nodes having some incorrect values.
    Do I have to perform the application clone again or is there any another way to fix it.

    Ebiz instance is multinode setup
    DB - 2 node RAC
    CP - 2 node - PCP (DB and CP are same server but OS login different)
    W&F - 2 node - Load Balanced
    iRec - 1 node
    Ebiz version : 12.1.3 and db is 11GR2
    Issue: Receiving Transaction Manger,PO Document Approval Manager and INV Remote Procedure Manager are deactivated automatically and start by itself for every 1 min., rest other managers are up and running,

    I need to install the OEM with Management packs for a customer on windows. Now i have installed the OEM 11g on one server and installed the agent where ever required. Now i am able to do basic moniotoing with any issue. Now i need to install following packs as a part of the contract. Could any body help me to do the same?

  • Missing Deployment Procedures

    Does anyone know how to find and download Oracle Database Provisioning procedure for OEM Grid 10.2.0.3.0? I am applied all of the patches required for provisioning, but the procedure does not show up under deployment procedure manager.

  • Embedded event manager

    Hi team
    I had open a post in lan switching for this particular problem and the expert from that forum has given the solution of embedded event manager so i need a help from this forum.
    The probelm defination is==
    Cisco 6509 (Core switch) connected to firewall on uplink side and on downlink its connected to 2 diffrent Cisco 6509 switches (Distribution) layer.All these links have been configured as Routed link and not as SVI.Now issue is when both the downlinks (coming from both distribution) switches go down i want to make the uplink from core to firewall to go down so that other core switch will take over and transfer teh traffic.
    Attached diagram has details.tried configuring HSRP between 2 core switches but as teh links are routed link HSRP not working and both switches remain master but as on oppsite side Juniper firewall NSRP is implemented 2nd firewall not responding and core-2 ==fw2 link not transfer traffic.now when both the links of core go down link from core1-fw1 should go down so Fw2 will get active and will send traffic on link betwene core2-firewall2..please let me know what kind of configursation is required in EEM..

    After that, the policy is registered, and waiting for the interfaces to go down.

  • Information Managment Policy Timer Job Schedule

    I have created an information management policy on one of my libraries and set the retention to daily. I was not getting results on a daily basis so researched and found that there are two timer jobs that manage the policies: Information Management Policy
    and Expiration Policy. I have found that these are both defaulted to run weekly, which is why I was not getting the results that I expected.
    Would you be able to let me know if there are any repercussions of changing the schedule of these jobs to daily such as resource concerns? Thanks.

    Setting them to daily is a routine activity. There shouldn't be any reprecussions as long as you make sure they run in the right sequence.
    They will use a bit of resource but if you set up some perfmon traces you can compare a time period before you set the jobs up with one afterwards and see what the impact is.

    after be created,I don't find this role in RPD,then I restart the BI server,
    but I also don't find it in RPD,

  • Publish a document from Document Workspace back to source location - missing option in SharePoint 2013

    We intend to use Document Workspaces for reviewing all our Policies & Procedures.
    Once all the changes to the document have been made, I am trying to publish a document from a document workspace back to the source location but the 'Send to: Publish to Source Location' option is missing in SharePoint 2013.
    So instead I try to use 'Send to: Other Location' and copy / paste the URL from the original document library but this produces an error.
    Has anyone come across this and if yes, know of a workaround?
    A prompt response would be much appreciated.

    Once I click on the file (from the Document Workspace) and go File | Send to | Other Location and then I paste the URL from the original document library and test it and the link works. It shows me the document library of the original location. When I keep
    the filename the same (as I want it to override the original document with the new changes) and then I press OK and then it produces the error? I don't know what I am doing wrong???
    When I look at the second hyperlink as below I complete all the steps but after step 5 which settings do I enable in the Content Organizer: Settings & Rules? I doesn't state what I need to configure?
    Enable the Content Organizer in the Destination Site
    To enable the Content Organizer in the destination site, do the following:
    Browse to the site you want files routed to.
    Select Settings, Site Settings.
    Under the Site Actions Grouping, select Manage Site Features.
    Activate the Content Organizer feature.
    Click Settings, Site Settings, Site Administration, configure Content Organizer Settings and Rules.
