Urgent : proc_MatchSchedSubscriptions blocking SQL process (and so SharePoint 2007). Event log is managed by this procedure and contains millions of entries

Hello,
We have an intranet platform with 8000 users on SharePoint 2007.
We currently have issues every day around 9am or 8:30am : The intranet is not responding (white page loading during minutes) until we kill a process in SQL that is blocking every other process.
The process that is blocking other calls a procedure called : "proc_MatchSchedSubscriptions"
This procedure manage 3 tables :
SchedSubscriptions
EventLog
EventSubsMatches
We notice that the Table EventLog has 1.3M entries after 4 days (this table is cleaned every weeks right ?).
This is a really an issue because if we don't kill the process, the intranet won't work at all. We have to do that almost every morning.
Thanks you by advance,

Assuming that you are on the latest SharePoint patch level, I would recommend opening a ticket with Microsoft. Any edits to the SQL databases will result in your environment being in an unsupported state.

  • PL/SQL process and popup URL

    Hi,
    I have a PL/SQL process which is called on submit but a button. This Pl/SQL creates a file on the web-server and I then want to open this file in a new browser window using the URL path to it. Can this be done from pl/sql or do I need to embed some javascript somewhere in the page. My eg block is :-
    begin
    pack.proc(15);
    owa_util.mime_header('application/vnd.ms-word');
    htp.init ;
    owa_util.redirect_url('http://server:port/my_dir/myfile.doc');
    end;
    The redirect doesnt do anything.
    Thanks for any assistance,
    Brandon

  • Page having PL/SQL process and Automatic Row Process for 2 different tables

    Hi,
    I have a page containing 2 regions A & B.
    Region-A content would be updated to table T1(PK : Ticket#).
    Region-B content would be inserted into table T2(PK: Attachment# ; FK: Ticket#).
    Region-B is used for uploading a file content into T2.
    Since I cannot use 2 DML processes on the page for 2 different tables with a common column, so I have a PL/SQL process to update the record into T1 and an Automatic Row Process(DML) for inserting into T2.
    Now the issue is in Region-B when I select a file using 'Browse' button and click on Upload button to fire the Automatic Row Process, the success message is displayed but the file is not uploaded into the table. But when I moved the entire Region-B and the Automatic Row Process to a different page and clicking Upload is working fine and inserting the record into the table along with the file content.
    An item P10_TICKET_NUMBER with source type as Database column with source value as TICKET_NUMBER is used in Region-A.
    I have gone through the forums and found some of the threads below
    Re: 2 Automated Row Processes for one page?
    Re: Error when trying to create 2 Forms on same page on 2 tables with ID as
    where people facing similar issues but here I have followed the solution provided(with one PL/SQL process and other Automatic process) in the threads but still issue persists.
    Can anyone throw some light on this please.

  • Please Help!! Lists and libraries suddenly blocked just before migrating from SharePoint 2007 to 2010

    Hi all,
    I took several weeks preparing the migration of a large farm from SharePoint 2007 to 2010 using the system of restore databases and mount site collections. I've built the new farm and I have done several full migration tests to verify that all was well the
    day of final migration.
    The farm consists of three virtual servers: one with SQL Server 2012 and two with SharePoint Server 2010. Upon completion of the tests we've moved the servers to another network. We have turned on the servers and everything seems to work fine.
    Just the day of the final migration I wanted to check the HealtReports list of the Central Administration, and when I wanted to look up an alert, the view window has not shown me anything and ribbon has appeared with all options grayed. Days ago worked fine.
    Alarmed by this, I have started to check all lists and libraries in the Central Administration and the same happens. I can not view or change the items, nor add. Neither I can change the properties of the lists or libraries, as if everything was locked. I
    tried on the main site collection and same thing happens, and I have tried with several user with Total Control permissions. I have also verified that the site collection was not in ReadOnly mode.
    I have restored a site collection from SharePoint 2007 and have migrated successfully to 2010. Before applying visual upgrade I found that the content is also locked. It is as if he had changed anything in the configuration of the whole farm, but I can not
    find what. The Event Viewer of the three server shows no errors related to this. The SharePoint LOGS not show anything unusual.
    I do not know where to look and urges me to find a solution because the old servers must be out of service soon. I accept any suggestions.
    Kind regards.

    Finally I answer myself because I've already found and fixed the problem. Before moving the servers in farm to the another network I've unplugged the single SharePoint server from the farm database for to clone it. Apparently
    this disconnection removes all the implemented solutions and the farm remains without servers. Reconnecting the servers not re-implements the solutions. When I was about to create a new farm I have seen that all solutions were not implemented,
    I have implemented one by one and the system worked again.
    If any of you happen reaches you, now you know what it may be due.
    Kind regards!! Now I'm a happy man! ;)

  • AQ Callbacks - Blocking background processes and best practices.

    We are running several queues within our company and one of them uses pl/sql callback functionnality.
    Basically, several triggers can enqueue a message when underlying tables are updated. The goal of the callback is to "treat" those messages, which means dequeuing the messages and passing them to some procedure (determined through a confguration table and the type of message). I don't know if i'm clear enough on this but it is as important.
    In general the mechanism works perfectly but we noticed in one of our databases that, after a relatively big amount of messages enqueuing (~ 500-1000 in one trasanction), there are numerous background processes blocked on system table SYS.AQ_SRVNTFN_TABLEI. In fact, the queue starts growing and messages are not dequeued anymore by the callback, that doesn't seem to be executed anymore at all.
    We actually were also unable to re-compile the package that holds the callback procedure nor removing/adding the reference of the subscriber to the queue with DBMS_AQ. It would hang there forever...
    We are running Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release *10.2.0.4.0* and the value of AQ_TM_PROCESSES = 0.
    I don't necesseraly have a complete and clear view of how the queue mechanism works behind the scenes so forgive for some foolish things I could say :-)
    Diagnosis:
    After some research, it seems the backgrounds processes are blocked on the system table SYS.AQ_SRVNTFN_TABLE on some index for MSGID.
    If I understand correctly how the system works, the callback gets executed for a specific MSGID as we use it in the callback procedure to dequeue this message.
    I've also discovered that the default value for the WAIT dequeue option is FOREVER...
    So my idea was that, for some reason, the callback tries to dequeue a message that does not exist in the queue and... waits forever for the message to "appear".
    This at first seemed pretty unlikely to me: why would the callback be executed if no message with provided MSGID exists... then you start doubting :-)
    Attempt to resolve:
    We've decided to alter the WAIT option to not let the dequeue in the callback wait forever.
    We have made some tests (outside the callback) with NO_WAIT and also with a wait of a few seconds. Both solution prooved right so we added a wait of 60s in the callback and added some tracing.
    Since then, no more background processes seems to hang there and we are able to alter the callback procedure normally. But with the added tracing, we noticed an unexplained behavior with the execution of the callback:
    - callback runs
    - ORA-25263: no message in queue QUEUE_OWNER.MULTISRC_NOTIFQ with message ID B4FFD1115523A46EE040007F0100304F
    - callback runs again and message is dequeued and treated correctly
    The first oracle error happens fast, not after 60s as the WAIT option specifies.
    Questions:
    <li>Is the way the callback method is implemented correct (see code below) ?</li>
    <li>Do we need to commit in the callback method ? What implies committing or not ?</li>
    <li>How wouold you explain the behavior of the callback after setting the dequeue WAIT to 60s and why it does not actually wait for 60s ?</li>

    Helping you with the specific issue is going to be difficult without direct access to the servers but given the importance this system seems to have to your business why are you not running on a fully supported version (10.2 has been in extended support for more than 6 months) and even in the current configuration not patched to 10.2.0.5?
    My instinct would be to focus on moving to 11.2.0.3 as quickly as possible with a corresponding change to a current operating system version if your O/S is similarly out of date.

  • HR Processes and Forms, Delimit multiple entries from IT0014

    Hello,
    I am trying to delimit multiple records in infotype 0014 with the backend service SAP_PA. I am only able to delimit the first record of this infotype while the rest of the records remain unchanged. If anyone has any info on how to delimit all records I would greatly appreciate the advice.
    Here is how I have my config set up:
    Field Name - Operation - Infotype - Subtype - Screen Structure - Field - Record - Data Element
    I0014_PERNR - Delete - 0014 - * - HCMT_BSP_PA_US_R0014 -  PERNR -  * - PERNR_D
    Thanks in advance,
    Jim

    Using "*" for the subtype on an infotype of Time Constraint 3 is a known problem. I wrote about it in my "gotcha" blog about HCM P&F with the specific code it even fails on. There is a recent patch out to fix/address this, but the number escapes me (just search on notes for PA-AS and you will see lots!)
    Past that, a LOT of the operations that SAP_PA handles poorly or not at all (ie. time constraints other than 1 and 2) and/or when significant "pre-business logic" is needed (good ol' IT0041 comes to mind!), I now have learned to handle in "follow-up" custom workflow tasks that will trigger a custom function module I write to handle all those "odd" operations myself. It works VERY nicely like that and uses the same kind of coding/methodology as SAP's code. Currently, our team is working on getting it to work through an Advanced Generic Service. When that happnes, it will be sweet! That means, we can pretty much do ALL the work needed in our AGS....not in a custom workflow task or some convaluted jumble of genercis services prior to a SAP_PA call, or none of that anymore.

  • SQL help with calculation uptime from event logs

    Hi guys,
    I'm able to retrieve uptime/downtime info from the eventlogs using the 6005, 6006 events. I just realized that there are cases (dirty shutdowns) where there may not be a shutdown (6006) logged. There will be a 6008 message logged though. I am kinda stumped as to how to match up the 6006 and 6005 messages now to calculate uptime as there might be a few more 6005 messages than 6006. Any ideas. Here's what I have so far: I'm querying the MOM reporting database.
    select t1.computername ServerName,
    t1.computerdomain ComputerDomain,
    t1.timegenerated ShutdownTime,
    (select min(t2.TimeGenerated) from SDKEventView t2
    where t1.ComputerName = t2.computername
    and NTEventID = 6005
    and t2.timegenerated >= t1.TimeGenerated) StartupTime,
    datediff(minute,t1.TimeGenerated, (select min(t2.TimeGenerated) from SDKEventView t2
    where t1.ComputerName = t2.computername
    and NTEventID = 6005
    and t2.timegenerated >= t1.TimeGenerated)) Downtime
    from SDKEventView t1
    where t1.NTEventID = 6006
    and t1.timeGenerated between '5/1/2005 12:00:00.000 AM' and '5/2/2006 12:00:00.000 AM'
    and t1.computername in (select name from sdkcomputerview where name like '%FLK%')
    order by Downtime

    What I would do is create a class with the stored procedure call as one of the methods:
    Class Accessor()
      public UsrObject getUser(String loginId)
         //put stored procedure here>
         //after getting data from database, put into an
         // object you define (ie: UsrObject)
         return UsrObject
    }You have a couple of other issues you need to address (and they may already be taken care of)
    You need to decided if this is a 2-tier or 3-tier architecture. Are you accessing the database directly without going through a middle tier?

  • SQL Timeouts and Blocking Locks

    SQL Timeouts and Blocking Locks
    Just wanted to check in and see if anyone here has feedback on application settings, ColdFusion settings, JBOSS settings or other settings that could help to limit or remove SQL Timeouts and blocking locks on SID's.
    We're using MS SQL 2000 with JBOSS and IIS5.
    We've been seeing the following error in our logs that starts blocking locks in SQL:
    java.sql.SQLException: [newScale] [SQLServer JDBC Drive] [SQLServer] Lock request time out period exceeded.
    Once this happens, we're hosed until we remove the blocking SID in SQL.  These are the connections to the application.
    Any feedback would be great.  Thanks!

    Hi
    This is your exact solution:
    Select a.username, a.sid, a.serial#, b.id1, c.sql_text
    From v$session a, v$lock b, v$sqltext c
    Where b.id1 in( Select distinct e.id1
    from v$session d , v$lock e
    where d.lockwait = e.kaddr ) and
    a.sid = b.sid and
    c.hash_value = a.sql_hash_value and
    b.request =0;

    What you need, in your case, is the reverse approach
    – calling PL/SQL from JavaScript code – which is
    possible, using AJAX...
    It seems like what you are trying to do is a
    validation process. Pressing the button should fire a
    JavaScript code, which in turn will fire an on-demand
    PL/SQL procedure, and according to the returned
    results will display a confirm dialog boxHi Arie,
    This is exactly what I am struggling to do, but I don't think is working...is there a good example somewhere, with good documentation saying what goes where? I've tried looking at Carl's On-Demand page example and I just can't tell if I'm following it correctly.
    Based on what is entered in P4_PROJECT_NUM, I need to verify that the value isn't already in the database when the user tabs out of the field.
    My javascript for page 4 (in HTML Header):
    function checkCO()
    var get = new htmldb_Get(null,$x('pFlowId').value,'APPLICATION_PROCESS=validate_value',4);
    get.add('ID', $x('P4_PROJECT_NUM').value)
    gReturn = get.get();
    if(gReturn) // if function return true
    alert($x('P4_PROJECT_NUM').value + ' already exists in database.');
    get = null;
    //-->
    </script>
    My onDemand process, from the Application Processes:
    declare
    v_count number;
    cursor cr_check_co is
    select count(*)
    from usd_changeorders
    where chg_ref_num = v('ID');
    begin
    open cr_check_co;
    fetch cr_check_co into v_count;
    close cr_check_co;
    if (nvl(v_count, 0) = 0) then
    return true;
    else
    return false;
    end if;
    end;
    I am calling the javascript from the onBlur event of the field I want verified.
    I am getting an alert, but it is displaying every time, whether the value is valid or not.
    Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks!!

  • How to migrate SharePoint 2013 Content and Configuration DataBases to a new SQL Server and DataBases in it?

    Hi,
    We need to migrate Our current 1 clustered SQL Server, Many Configurations DataBases and Many Content DataBases to a brand new clustered SQL server and brand new databases in it.
    How can I do this?
    Can someone list the steps involved?

    Hi,
    According to your description, you want to move Content databases  and Configuration databases to a new SQL Server,  refer to this article:

  • RWB status 'delivering' and SQL process hangs

    I am sending an IDOC to SQL Server thro XI using JDBC adapter. I am triggering a stored procedure to update SQL tables. The RWB status says 'delivering', sxmb_moni says 'successful' and all the steps are success in audit log. The status 'delivering' is not changing to sucessful.
    When i look at SQL-server side, the process is in sleeping mode. I have verified the stored procedure and it was executed sucessfully. After the COMMIT TRAN, RETURN(0) statments, the process is going to 'sleeping' mode. The @@trancount is 2. If I double click the process, the sql statement is 'IF @@TRANCOUNT > 0 COMMIT TRAN'. This process hangs at this step and it is not accepting the next message. If I kill the process, the stored procedure is executed once and its going to sleep mode and not returning the status to XI to make the flow complete or to change the status to successful.
    Thanks.

    HI Shankar ,
    Its seems that there might be some problem in your srored procedure.Did u tried to use some other stored procedure.I assume that you have uploaded the right version of driver for SQL server you are using.Remember JDBC adapter is vendor and version dependent.
    You can also look at the JDBC : FAQ at service market place.

  • Sharepoint 2007 and SQL 2008 SP3 on Windows Server 2008 Enterprise SP2 (64-bit)

    Is there any documentation we can check if SQL 2008 SP3 is compatible with Sharepoint 2007 SP2 or SP3? Both Sharepoint and SQL servers are running on separate Virtual machines (Windows Server 2008 Enterprise SP2(64-bit)). Currently DB is running on
    SQL server 2008 SP2, and we would like to have SP3 loaded on it, but want to find if there is any compatibility issue?
    Thanks in advance!
    mh

    I'm not aware of any known issues with SQL Server 2008 SP3 and SharePoint 2007. I did a quick check and saw one person reporting an issue with their Central Admin site after applying the SQL Server update, but that's it.
    With that being said, I would strongly encourage you to test out the application of that SQL Server service pack in a non-production environment well before you apply it in production. There is always a chance that your environment has something set up in
    it that would cause an unexpected issue, and the best way to get an idea of whether or not an issue exists is by doing it somewhere else first before you do it in prod.

  • Dimension build using SQL table and process to fill the SQL table

    I have a dimension in a cube that is manually* built by one of our power users. Now I have to get all the member information of that dimension into a SQL table(example : with columns...level0,level0property,level1,level1property etc....) to use that table in STUDIO for member load.
    Is there any easy process to do this? Currently I am building each and every row manually in that SQL table and there are 1100+ members in that manually built dimension. Please advice.

    Thank you so much Glenn!! That worked!! You make our lives so much easier!!

  • DPM 2010 SharePoint 2007 and SQL 2005 long time Recovery point

    Hi, i have two farms with two dedicated DPM for each of them
    SP 2010 with SQL 2008 R2
    SP 2007 with SQL 2005
    While recovery point is running for 2010 multiple databases are taken simultaneously while in 2007 only one database at time in sequential order which leads in large time for recovery point of farm.
    any recommendations or modification known for this behavior
    Thanks
    Mina

    Hi,
    I have not tried this with SharePoint workload - but give this a try.
    Steps to enable parallel backups for SQL 2005 databases:
    1. The fix in SQL Writer to enable parallel backups has been rolled out as part of SQL server SP4. So please update SQL Server 2005 to SP4.
    2. On DPM Server, create Registry Key “SQL2005_ParallelBackup” under “HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Data Protection Manager\Configuration”
    3. Create String Value with Name equals FQDN of SQL Server
    and empty value, under registry key “SQL2005_ParallelBackup”
    Let me know if that worked.
