Problems Connecting Apple Bluetooth Devices in Windows using BootCamp

People are having trouble connecting bluetooth devices in windows 7 while using bootcamp. I solved the problem by clicking on bluetooth>ADD A DEVICE once windows has detected the bluetooth device you want to add. Now, right click on the device you are adding (make sure it's  "inside the add bluetooth
Device window "see below" ) it will say "select your device". Then tick the box beside "drivers for Keyboard, Mice etc.," under "Bluetooth Services" (see below) and it will search the internet for your drivers and automatically install them. If you have any problems post a message. Good Luck

Not sure if you can help me, but I can't add my phone or some bt speakers to my MBA2011 in bootcamp.  Drivers can't be found...and this is usually a problem of the bt controller drivers, not the device.
It does seem the apple bt drivers are gimped in bootcamp.

  • Connect a Bluetooth device in Windows to a Bluetooth Device in Linux to obtain the RSSI

Here's the situation. I have looked through the forums for information on this question. I do understand there are some compatibility issues between Windows and Linux, hopefully this is easy enough to not be a problem.
I'm trying to acquire the RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) for a Bluetooth card - any card for that matter. Windows Native Drivers will not allow me to access this information through the HCI commands, I've looked. However, Linux does, it's easy, and I now know how. The plan is to get the Windows Bluetooth card to communicate with the Linux Bluetooth card and have the Linux box send the RSSI information to the Windows box.
This program, which I've been working on, needs some help. I would like to put it up to test tomorrow afternoon - when I get off from work. I would like to get some recommendations and suggestions on how to fix the empty parts. And if there's a better way of doing this.
This program is part of another program written in Labview for image recognition.

I haven't worked with BT, so I'll assume the basic connection works (you open a connection and you get the data). I'm also assuming the linux box isn't running LV (if I remeber correctly, BT in 7.1 is only supported on windows XP).
So, to comment on your code:
    1. I dislike flat case structures which span across multiple screens. I prefer using stacked ones if necessary. This is obviously matter of personal taste and screen resolution, so it's just an obsrvation.
    2. Your connection will run not once for each connection, but until it encounters an error.
    3. I made a few other quick modifications. They're ugly, but they should set you on the right path. I may have missed some of your notes.
Try to take over the world!

  • IPodTouch SDK for non apple bluetooth device

I need to know if I can programmatically connect my iPod Touch (OS 3.0) to a non apple blue tooth device using the Apple iPod SDK.
I know that I can connect my iPod Touch (OS 3.0) to other iPods using GameKit API, But can I connect to other non apple Bluetooth devices?

But can I connect to other non apple Bluetooth devices?
An iPhone or touch will connect to non-Apple branded devices via Bluetooth now, such as Motorola headphones or Jensen car stereos for audio playback and phone calls.
You need to specify what you want to do exactly if your plan is outside those types of connectivity. Other uses can include proximity and remote speaker applications.
You might want to look over the External Accessory framework, released with 3.0.
...keep in mind, however, that the only way to communicate with other BT devices via the EAF is if they are in the 'Made for iPod' accessory program. http://developer.apple.com/iphone/program/accessories/
However again.... Even though they communicate through standard BT connections, accessories need special hardware in order to process the data stream coming from the iPhone / iPod touch. Unfortunately, this may mean that any idea of communicating with generic BT devices won't work on iPhone OS 3.x.
If the devices you want to talk to are Bonjour-discoverable via WiFi, they don't need to be part of the MfI program. Does that sound like your case?
Also you may want to keep in mind that 3rd. party devs in the future may release dongles that connect via the 30-pin dock port, providing access to existing BT devices. If said devs opened their communication protocols, that might enable the goal of communicating with said devices.

Yes another user with problem with Apple Mobile Device Support, I am getting the error message: Service 'Apple Mobile Device'(Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Vertify that you have sufficient privileges to start system service....I hit retry and it came up again. I hit ignore and it prompted me to hit finish so Itunes can open.   I looked thru alot of these posts on here to try and resolve this problem myself but it's not working too well...I downloaded Itunes to my desktop so I can right click it with the program i downloaded called WinRAR. I extracted it and then went into the folder called Itunes64setup. I saw the file called AppleMobileDeviceSupport64 in there so I began to try and download it on it's own. Well that didn't work as I planned and got this error message:
Apple Mobile Device Support wasn't installed on your computer. The installer encountered errors before Apple Mobile Device Support could be configured. Your system has not been modified. To retry these operations at a later time, please run the installer again.
Well I tried to run it again and came up with the same message...I see that some people got great support to help them so I am hoping someone can help me as well. I know "b nor" is very qualfied and hopefully can help me! Please advise what I can do. Thank you

  • HT204387 what is the bluetooth pairing default code to connect to bluetooth device (car).

What is the bluetooth pairing code to connect to bluetooth device (car) for iphone 4 w 7.os

first you must put your iphone in the discover mode by going to bluetooth on your phone which places it in discovery mode. Them you must go to your car's bluetooth discovery mode and place it in discovery mode. If the phone sees the car and visa versa, the car will give you a code to place into your phone. Once you put the code into the phone the two will be linked. Make sure that your car has "automatic" link set so that your phone will link every time you turn on the ignition. Refer to your car's manual for more help or go to your dealer, they should be able to help you or even do it for you, but you need to know how to be able to discover and then link bluetooth devices yourself because every bluetooth device uses the same discovery formula especially if you want to use your IOS devices to play music through your system using bluetooth.

  • Does a non-apple bluetooth device such as a mouse need a dongle with Mac MIni?

I have just ordered a referbished Mac Mini. I know the Apple Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard does not need a dongle, but I am curious if non-Apple bluetooth devices such as a mouse need one?

No, they do not need a dongle. They can use the built-in BT

  • How do I install windows using BootCamp without cd drive fot the new MBP?

I need some softwares for my work (modelsim, altera, ltspices etc) but some of them only supports windows.
New MBP doesnt seem to have a cd driver.
How do I install windows using bootcamp without cd drivers?

You can use a USB thumbdrive to do this, assuming you have access to a windows machine to format the usb stick.
I installed Win7 on my MB Air (2011), which of course lacks a DVD drive altogether, using this technique.
Basically, you download a tool called rEFIt to your macbook. ( http://sourceforge.net/projects/refit/files/rEFIt/0.14/rEFIt-0.14.dmg/download ) When this is installed, it gives you a boot selector menu when you boot the Macbook ('Do you want to boot to MacOS or to the USB drive?')
Then you download and run an Apple tool called Boot Camp Assistant, which allows you to partition your HD for the two operating systems to share; it also pulls down all the windows drivers you need.
Then prep the USB thumbdrive on a windows machine to be a Win7 installer disk. You'll want a drive in the 4gb+ range I think. You have to set up the thumbdrive to be bootable (lots of tools for that available), and then copy all the windows installation files over to it.
Put the thumbdrive in the macbook and boot holding down the option key.
Choose the rEFIt icon on boot, then choose to boot from the thumbdrive, then format your new windows partition to something Win7 can handle, and install windows.
On my machine I followed a slightly more involved process and wiped out MacOS entirely. I would have kept it on a small partition if I'd had a bigger hard drive.
If you need super detailed instructions, CNET has some here:
    http://howto.cnet.com/8301-11310_39-20020513-285/install-win-7-on-macbook-air-fr om-a-usb-drive/
Tech-Recipes has some similar instructions here:
    http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/9136/macbook-air-install-windows-7-with-boot-camp -without-an-external-dvd-drive/
If you have any issues after trying this, ping me and I may have solved them when I went through the same process.

  • Can not reboot into OSX from Windows using Bootcamp assistant

I'm having a bit of a problem with rebooting into OSX from Windows on bootcamp. Clicking on the icon in the system tray produces a message that Windows can not find the OSX disk. Trying to open the Bootcamp preferences also generates an error. I have no problem getting back into OSX if I shut down Windows and restart the MacPro while holding down the option key. This is with a Windows 7 install on Bootcamp, but I had the same issue with a previous install of Win XP. I nuked and paved OSX and the WIndows disk between installs so my current problem is not carry over from the XP install.

My bad I should have been more clear. The problem is actually with a XP install via bootcamp, my Win 7 install is in VM Ware Fusion.
The XP install is on a second drive. Since you asked about this I'm assuming it may be the reason Im having problems.
The error is I get when trying to access bootcamp via the Windows control panel or by right clicking the sys tray icon is - "An error occured while trying to access the start up disk settings. You may not have privileges ...blah, blah, blah. I only created one account and I have enough privliges to change admin stuff in windows so I cant see privliges being the issue. I reassigned the OSX partition a new drive letter and rebooted windows but this didn't help.
The only drivers I installed, other then updating the video driver, are the bootcamp drivers
Sys tray icon - small diamond shapped icon in systray for accessing bootcamp functions.

  • If I use a USB stick for time machine, will I be able to install Windows (using bootcamp) from the same USB?

I have a 64GB USB Stick, and I am interested in usign it with time machine. My question is, firstly, is this possible? And secondly, if I do do this, would it be possible to install windows using bootcamp from the same USB. My mother refuses to let me install windows without a backup of Mac OS X, so I really need to know if this is possible???

You need to use a drive that is larger than your Mac's internal drive for Time Machine, so a USB stick will not work.  You need to buy an external hard drive.  It's worth it. Time machine is a fantastic backup system, keeping not just a single backup, but multiple versions of your files as well (hence the need for a larger drive).

  • Problem connecting multiple ios devices in a session using GKSession

    Hi everyone, Here's my problem.
I am a beginner in iOS apps development and I am developing an application that requires to connect from 3 to 6 devices together using Bluetooth.
I am not using GKPeerPickerController since it does not allow me to define a Server and Clients.
Instead, I am using GKSession to define a server in GKSessionModeServer and for the moment two clients GKSessionModeClient.
I use the peersWithConnectionState:GKPeerStateAvailable method to find the server and it works fine.
Now the problem is that when I get the server peerID and try to connect the clients with the server using connectToPeer:serverPeerID withTimeout:10, it takes each client from 5 seconds to 5 minutes to join the server in his session. The problem is that it takes a long time for the server to receive the connection request from each client.
Now when I try to connect them when the server changes his state it works without any problem cause I can get the GKSession instance of the server in the method that is called in the clients code when the server availability changes from NO to YES.
    My questions are:
    - Is it normal that it takes so long for the server to detect the connections requests from each client?
    - Is there any other way to establish a connection between devices in a server-client mode using Bluetooth or WiFi?
Thanks for your help and time.
