Publisher to PDF - saves colored text as gray?

For some unknown reason, when I save a Microsoft Publisher document as a pdf, anywhere there was colored text is gray in the pdf version.  Colored boxed show up correctly.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader twice with the same result.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?  Thanks!

I would suggest finding a forum for MS Publisher since it uses it's own PDF engine. It more than likely has something to do with that step. Reader is just seeing the results.

  • Converting Publisher to PDF file is not saving color text

I am trying to convert files in Publisher 2007 to PDF. When I save the document to PDF, the color fonts are saved in black instead of the original color.  How can I fix this?  Color backgrounds are saved correctly.  It is just the text.
    Thank you.

The fonts I am using are called Willow and Baskerville Old Face.  They are both shown normally.  I did go into the preferences and the accessibility category and clicked on the replace document colors.  I chose a text color that matched the original in the Publisher document.  That changed the text color in the PDF document but the background went to white.  I cannot match the background color in the pub document with the PDF color choices.  It would be nice if when converting I wouldn't have to change any color settings.  Any suggestions?
    Thank you for your help.

  • Publisher pdf won't show colored text

Using Reader 11.5 and Publisher 10 in Windows 7. Text colored red in a text box to differentiate it from the black text in Publisher only shows up as a shade of grey when file is saved as a pdf. Color graphics are saved in their colored form as expected.  Why??  How do I get Reader to show the text color like it does the pictures?

  • How convert a color PDF File to black & white (gray scale...no color)

How convert a color PDF File to black & white (gray scale...no color)??? creative cloud cs6... Acrobat etc

Hi, just wanted to add my 2¢
I've been in publishing over 25 years and live in Acrobat for making my final files. Currently with a newspaper.
    This is what we do:
    • Tool Panes > Print Production Window
    • Select CONVERT COLORS
    • Midway down under OUTPUT INTENT, check Convert Colors to Output Intent
    • In the associated drop down menu, I choose (because I'm printing on newsprint) DOT GAIN 20% – If you're working on better stock, choose a lower dot gain percentage.
    • Click OK – this will convert the file
    • Save
Note: this affects the file you're working with. Make sure that you use this method on a COPY if you want to retain the original color version.
I think if you compare my method to the Preflight method, you'll see a tighter contrast and better blacks. I've always felt the Preflight method left continuous tones a little muddy.
Now if there was only a way to add that to ACTIONS...!

  • Solid color text boxes in MS Word are not importing to pdf

Solid color text boxes in MS Word are not importing to pdf ... text boxes with pics import and convert fine. Using Word 2013. Any ideas?
I'm brand new to the forums, so sorry if I'm not asking correctly or asking something already covered.

    Hi Sara!
    Thanks for the response.
I'm uploading a Word file to my Adobe PDF Packet Annual subscription. I'm running Windows 8.0. Normally I will create a document in MS Word 2013, save it into our dropbox and then when I need to send it to someone (printer in this case) I will log onto Adobe PDF and upload the file to convert. Once it's converted, I'll send the pdf to the client or printer. In this case I created a poster with our logo (in a text box), text, a star (in a text box) and a few solid colored rectangles. Everything converted beautifully - as usual - except the solid text boxes.
I've used Adobe PDF Packet for a few years and have never seen this. Any ideas or other questions?
    thanks, Dave

  • Why can't I "Save as Text" a pdf file received as an email attachment?

I can "Save as text" a pdf file which I have created in my own computer (that is, it goes into MS notebook that I then can Copy and Save as an MS Word file) but not when I receive a pdf as an email attachment. (The file is saved, but it is empty.) Why would I want to convert my own pdf back to text? Well, in case I no longer have the original Word document I suppose, but the thing is "Save as text" works with my pdf, but not with those I recieve from others. How come? Thanks!

Is this a scanned PDF? If so, it must first be OCR'd.

  • Printing text in Gray color

    Hi,
I have forms which are  printing all the grey color text in dark black, on xerox printers. When the output is of PS type, it works all well and good, but for PCL, it is printing all black.
I have been using hppcl5c.xdc for PCL. Do I need to have a xerox XDC? If yes, where can I get it or what changes do I need to make to the HP XDC in order to make it work?
Is there probably a specific property that needs to be changed in order to get the Gray text printed gray instead of black?
Is there anything else that I am probably not doing right?
    Thanks.
Here is my XDC if you need:

    Hi
KEEP a BREAK-POINT and debug the internal table lines how it is coming
some overlap must be happening ..check.
Also check the code where you are getting this text into internal table.
    1) One way to debug smartform is to debug the Function Module of that smartforms.
If you want to debug particular smartform node that the solution would be,
insert a "Program Line" just above the node you want to debug and this program line write a normal abap breakpoint.
So whenever you call the smartforms, it will stop at this breakpoint and you can debug onwards.
    2) SFTRACE can be used for debugging SMARTFORMS.

  • How can I save colors of text by copy and paste from a strange application

    Hi!
When I copy colored text from a strange application to paste it into pages (4.0.2) all text is black. The colors disappear. When I look at the clipboard, I see the correct colors. In AppleWorks, MS-Office and OpenOffice the colors are copied correctly.
What can I do to save the colors?

When I scan and save the document to a pdf, it comes out completely grayed out.  What did I do wrong?

Thank you.  I already have that checked.   After an update, it started doing this.   Preferences> Display>Page Content & Info > Show large images is checked.
It is almost like a protection on the document that grays out all the content.

  • Save as Text error

When I try to save a PDF as TXT, the first line on each page is duplicated:
    Page 1->2
"Gladly," interposed the gray-haired man. "Your headquarters is on the way to my hotel. The night is
    <ff>
mild. We can talk as we stroll along."
mild. We can talk as we stroll along."
    Page 3->4
"Yes," admitted Rochelle, as he led the visitor through to the front room on the left, "but a worthy one.
Our publications will go everywhere. Here, senator, is our meeting room."
    <ff>
They were standing in the front room. The senator stared at the walls. Beautifully decorated in many
colors, they formed maps in mural style. The entire world was depicted. Darvin Rochelle smiled as he
observed the keen interest which the visitor displayed.

Any idea what's happening?  What additional information would be helpful?

So...no ideas on how to actually fix the problem, just complain about someone saying they have a problem with microsoft instead of windows?  I'm having a similar problem, save as text and the file has the first paragraph of the page not only duplicated, but has removed text that originally took the place of the duplicated text.  For example:
Tom and Jane had a dog who constantly hunched their legs and ruined their couch.
They could never decide what to do with the dog.
Finally, they got rid of the thing.
    would be saved as:
Tom and Jane had a dog who constantly hunched their legs and ruined their couch.
Tom and Jane had a dog who constantly hunched their legs and ruined their couch.
Finally, they got rid of the thing.
Which becomes very hard to fix in a 200 page file.  The forum says that there's a possible solution, but it seems as if you can't actually click on the solution to go and see what it is, and with no point of reference, you could be searching for a long time.  By the by, I'm using Reader 9.3
Also:  this doesn't happen with every PDF, but I can find no pattern between which ones do and do not cause the problem to occur (images in the file, hyperlinks, etc don't seem to make a difference).

  • I am converting a .docx file to a pdf and the text is coming out blurry

I am trying to convert a .docx file to a pdf and the text keeps coming out blurry. Some sentences seem to be bolded in the pdf as well. All the colored text seems like there's a shadow behind it and all the text in bold seems extra blurry. I am saving the file as a pdf. I tried to print the file as a pdf but it kept crashing. I have adobe acrobat pro and distiller, but I'm not savy about which program does what.
    Thanks for any help!

If you are trying to convert a Word file, ensure the text is in 100% black only.
To create PDF's there are hundreds of different combinations that can be used, but only a few will give you a good 'print ready' file, which is what I think you may be after.
You may have font issues that are stopping the text looking sharp.
If you have Distiller, you can try to print as .ps (save as postscript), load distiller up and choose one of the high quality settings in the pop down menu.
If you are working on a Mac you can drag and drop the .ps file direcetly on the dock icon for distiller, or if you are running Windows you will need to navigate to the file via the menu bar (you will need to know where you have saved your .ps file).
There may be other issues with the original file format that is causing problems with your PDF creation.
Let me know how you get on.
    Cheers

  • Publish to PDF WordPerfect

When I use the Publish to PDF option in Adobe 8 or 9, within WordPerfect X4, it is not defaulting to the same location that the document is currently in.  It is just ramdomly choosing a location.  I cannot find a setting within either application to save in the current location.

OK. I have two systems that have WP. One has WP X4 and Acrobat Pro 9 installed. The second system has WP X3 and only Adobe Acrobat Reader 9.
I opened a file on WP X4, did a Publish to PDF, created a PDF file, and Acrobat Pro 9 opened the file. When I did a "Save As" (the Save button was grayed out), the directory opened by default was where the generated PDF exists. I opened a file using WP X3 on my second system, opened a file, did a "Publish to PDF," opened the file with Reader 9, did a "Save Copy," and the directory opened was the same directory in which the original PDF file exists. Both Acrobat and Reader behave in a consistent way.
Both Acrobat Pro 9's and Acrobat Reader 9's level was 9.1.3. Therefore, I cannot duplicate your situation.

  • Color text in b/w image

I desaturated a photo in Photoshop CS4, and now I can't write anything except black or gray text. How can I add color text into this? I've even tried saving as a jpg and adding a text layer to that, as well as turning it into a smart object (not really sure yet what those are for exactly), but I cannot change the text color. One would think that I should be able to add any color text I want to a jpg, but no.
This is a logo and I need to be able to save it as a PSD.
    Thank you in advance!

You shouldn't have any problems saving the image as a PSD.  Does it not give you that option?  As far as your text color is concerned, it sounds like your Color Mode might not be set to RGB or CMYK.  (You could even use Indexed Color as a color mode as long as the color you want is in your swatch.) Perhaps your current color mode is set to grayscale?
