Reading/processing file -- only once!

Hi,
I am working on a requirement that i have to
open/read and process files that are continously
created in one of the directories. Now i understand
that i will have to make sure that the program does
not process any file more than once.
These files are being written into the directory at a
very rapid rate, and my program has to read these
files and insert the records in these dat files into
the database. What would be the best approach to make
sure that these files are not read/processed more
than once?. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.Delete the file when you're done with it? Rename the file when you're done with it? Something like "my filename.processed.extension" or something. If neither of those are an option, you could create a List and add the processed files to the list. Check to see whether or not you have processed a file from the list - if not, then process it. But - if you are dealing with a lot of files, then the latter would be a horrible idea. (It would take up way too much time and resources as you continued to process files).

You can put initiation parameters in your web.xml file and write a servlet that is called on startup. Once the values are read you can put them into the application scope. (i.e. application.setAttribute("jdbcUrl", jdbcUr); )
Then in your JSP pages you can take them out by using the application.getAttribute("jdbcUrl"); method.

Trigger Process chains only once in a day

Judder issue with QT reading DV files only

I use the old iMovie HD program on my Macbook pro (yes I know it's ancient but I like its simplicity) - however - suddenly the program reads in the signal in a very juddery way and when I export it to DV it is read in a similar juddery way to the QT app. However it doesn't do this on QT 7 or even any of the other apps I have to read the exported file. The problem is solved if I re-export to Mp4 or other formats - steady as a rock - any way I can stop the juddering when reading DV files...

If I understand the problem correctly, it sounds as if something on your system is "stealing CPU cycles" during capture/import with priority processing being given to the import/capture routines which, in turn, may simply be causing playback frames to be dropped. This can be normal if the CPU is being overtaxed. If this just started recently, I would probably open the Activity Monitor utility and check to see what other applications/processes might be active and slowing down your platform for a start.

AI Read is executing only once in a while loop instead of continuously scanning the channels

The ultimate goal is to sample 15 channels (1 at 20kHz, 9 at 1000Hz, and 5 at 100Hz). Since only one scan rate is possible, I would like to reduce the data (for both displaying and saving purposes). The decimate function does not seem to work correctly.
Attached is the current subroutine used to 'decimate' the data. It seems to work on the first loop iteration, as seen by the data block with correct time stamps and data values, but with each additional iteration, all values are zero. Why is only one scan being used in the displaying of data?

When you call AI Clear, the DAQ session is over. You will not get any new data by calling AI Read after an AI Clear. Move your AI Clear to the right of your while loop such that it runs after the while loop completes. Don't forget to wire an error cluster or DAQ session ID to AI Clear from inside the while loop to create the data dependency. Also, consider adding a shift register for the error cluster and some way to exit the loop on an error.

How to search files on a Time Machine backup disk only once perfile

Greetings,
Goal: I want to find all user files in a set of Time Machine backups residing on a single disk that contain the string "escalator". Now, there are multiple hard links to each file, so a simple search would search each file multiple times. That would take a very long time. Is there a way that I can search (grep) all text files and mail files only once and list those that contain the string? Note that I only want to search user directories; that is,
/Volumes/Time Machine Backups/Backups.backupdb/username’s iMac/Latest/Macintosh HD/Users
where "Latest" can also be any of the dates of all the backups.

Well, to clarify:
I want to find all user text files and mail messages on a Time Machine backup disk that contain the word "escalator".

I was trying to use the find command, but it was taking a very long time, so I aborted it. I then realized that most of the files have many hard links, and therefore will be searched many times. That, of course, is a great waste.
Is there some way to search each file only once?

How to read binary files wrt specific BYTE size and length??

I have a project I want to accomplish. I have a binary file, and I would like to read the data and print on wfm in a specific order and size.
The data is 16 bit binary type , and needs to be read in chunks of 2 bytes.
i have 30 bytes of sample 1.
followed by 2 bytes of sample 2.
followed by another 2 bytes of sample 3.
steps 2-4 should be repeated 10 times and then i should read sample 4 which is of 2 bytes.....
How should I do it?? I don't have any VI build... all i have is the example VI...
can anyone pleasehelp me???

smercurio_fc, sorry for the confusion, i will try my best to explain...
1. No, i don;t have to read the file again, once it has read, I used
while loop just to see the data updating (i press run, and before i can
visualize i have the waveforms; i can get rid of the while loop)
2. I have 30 different values of 1 sample. actually, the data is cmg
from tri-axial accelerometer; each axis is of 10 bytes(hence 3*10 =
30bytes)
3. I am repeating the steps 2-4 10 times because the data was written
into the binary file after 10 times sampling the sensors(if first 3
samples are read @ 1000hz, sample 4 was read at 1000/10 = 100hz)
4. I am using the graphs to interpret the values, that's it. The
values are already scaled when they were wrote to the binary file, I
have to simply interpret it.
I have made some changes in the VI, now i am reading only the first
30bytes, that too, in chunks of 10-10-10 bytes, and plotting the 3
samples simultaneously on a waveform chart. (will approach 1
sensor/sample at a time) and running the loop for 10 times. I have changed I8 to I16 now.
Please let me know if it makes sense to you now.
P.S. each sample is a sensor data.

Help: I want to auto schedule a load using file watcher but it runs only once for the first time and after that it is not running at all

I am trying to execute the below code as provided from one of the blogs. i am able to run the job only once based on a file watcher object(i.e. for very first time) and after that the job is not running at all and if i schedule the job to run automatically based on interval of 10 or more minutes it is executing properly). Please let me know or guide me if i have missed any step or configuration.that is needed.

Reading multiples files from a folder and processing

Hello everyone,
Im working on a project to analyst and process Acoustic Emission Signals. My problem is that I have a folder that containts several files .txt. Every file contains 16 waveforms (16 channels) that I need to process with an equation to detect the arrival times of the waves.
I have been working in this way : Running the labview code that open the file that I select .. then the processing happens on every wave and I click stop to select the file where I want to save the solutions. The solutions is only a vector of the 16 arrival times detected. Then I have to stop the code (by clicking Abort Execution) and repeat the process ... Run the code and bla bla bla .. and save on the same solution file that I used before.
The ideal situation is to read the files whitout stoping the execution of the code .. For example clicking a buttom to pass to the next file and saving all the solutions to the same file. That is beacause sometimes Im going to have more than a 100 files and this will give me a hard time if a forget in which file I was working. The idea is to make an automatic process.
Please .. I have been trying to find a solution to this while Im working in other part of the code. If someone could suggest me a solution it would be great.

Well Im sorry if I didn't post my .vi ... I was working on it ... and I found a solution (whit some help that I found on the forums) but Im not happy at all ... because I still have to give the last part of the file name.
For example at the beginning I have to input the file name without the final number of the event ...
C:\Users\Irish\Desktop\Hydraulic Fracturing\E1_evento
then I finish adding the file number that I want to process on the folder
C:\Users\Irish\Desktop\Hydraulic Fracturing\E1_evento2.txt or 9.text or ... just the number ...
This is the case when I want to process every file specifying the file .. but what could you suggest me to do process all the data file by file ?
I attached the part of the code that Im using for this specific problem ...

Hello all-
I am currently trying to configure group policy (specifically folder redirects) from a new Windows Server 2008 in my home... the server acts as both an AD DS and file server for 4 client computers, all running Windows Vista Ultimate.
Here are the steps I am currently taking:
I create a new Group Policy called All Users and Computers and apply it to the All Users and Computers OU, which contains exactly what it says (all users and computers in the domain).
I verify that a new folder was created in \\<FQDN>\sysvol\<FQDN>\Policies. The new folder created is named {6479C8E0-3134-4B4F-B047-7ADD51684684}
I change the GPO Enforced setting to Enforced.
I attempt to use the gpupdate command to see if the group policy can be updated successfully. In a command prompt, I type gpupdate <enter>. I receive the message 'Updating Policy...' then after about 15 seconds the message 'User Policy update has completed successfully.'
I keep the cmd window open. After about 10 seconds another message apperas which says "Computer policy could not be updated successfully. The following errors were encountered: The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows attempted to read the file \\<FQDN>\sysvol\<FQDN>\Policies\{6AC1786C-016F-11D2-945F-00C04Fb984F9}\gpt.ini from a domain controller and was not successful. Group Policy settings may not be applied until this event is resolved. This issue may be transient and could be caused by one or more of the following:
a) Name Resolution/Network Connectivity to the current domain controller.
b) File Replication Service Latency (a file created on another domain controller has not replicated to the current domain controller).
c) The Distributed File System (DFS) client has been disabled.
To diagnose the failure, review the event log or invoke gpmc.msc to access information about Group Policy results."
I confirm that the error code is #3 using the Event Log, "The system cannot find the file specificed"
Of course the system cannot find the file specified because the folder does not exist in the sysvol folder. I am wondering why Windows is trying to read from this location when it does not exist, and is not the new group policy I created! I have no other group policies linked or enforced to any other OU/Domain/etc. Any help resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Hello all and thanks for the help. First a few things:
I understand that the DC should not be running RRAS, but this a simple server being used in aa home environment by 4 users and getting another server just for RRAS would be overkill.
Secondly, I currently have it so that while the router is handling DHCP, I have reserved a fixed IP for the server, so it always has 192.168.1.100. If I were to use the server as the DHCP, what would my hardware configuration have to look like? I currently have the router plugged into the ISP modem, and then server plugged into the router. All other clients connect to the router wirelessly.

I am using Adobe 8 Professional and working on Windows XP. I have been facing an issue lately with opening files in a dual-monitor environment. All my Adobe Reader (PDF) files are opening only in the secondary monitor by default. There are times when I work only in one monitor and when I open a PDF file and want to have a look at it, I have to connect another monitor to view that file, since this file is open in the secondary monitor. It is very disappointing with such instances happening with Adobe (a leading organization). Can you please help so that the Adobe Reader files open in the primary monitor by default?

Reading files from local hard disk - Access Local Files Only

Hi All,
I have a local flash file published as 'Access Local Files Only', to allow me to read from local filesystem.
What methods or classes can I use to read text and other files from the user's harddisk.
This is the first time I am trying to do something like this, all help is grealy appreciated.

Hi, thanks for the responses
I did some searching and found that the urlloader class is the right one for the job.
'Access Local Files Only' option is provided for this very purpose I believe.
If anyone has done something like this and have some sample code it would be awesome
