Rollover Images and Captions

Can anyone give me a short, step by step way to
create rollover images with captions. I couldn't manage to get that
done, and when I read the Help screens within the application, it
didn't help either.
In particular, here was the problem: I was in Storyboard with
the slide highlighted that I wanted to add the rollover image and
caption. When I went up to the Insert drop-down menu and clicked on
Rollover Images, there were no images; I was simply taken to My
Documents.
I hope somebody can help. I've spent more than 4 hours trying
make this work. I'm SURE it's some little detail that I've failed
to pay attention to.
THANK YOU!
Dean

Hi Dean,
The "little detail that (you) failed to pay attention to" is
just that. In order to insert an image, you have to select the
image to insert. Use Windows Explorer (from \\My Documents\) to
navigate to \\My Documents\My Pictures\ or whereever else you keep
the image you wish to insert, and select it. Understand, it is up
to you to provide the image . . . it's not like you are selecting
from Captivate's own image gallery (though that is a cool idea, now
that I think of it - LOL!)
Your question indicates to me there might be some confusion
about what you want. You said you want "rollover images with
captions". There are rollover images which are just images to which
a mouseover action has been applied, and there are rollover
captions which are just normal captions to which a mouseover action
has been applied ... but there are no rollover images
with captions. The only way to have a rollover display a
caption is to create it yourself. And the "step-by-step" for doing
that is totally dependent on which image editor you are using
(Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, Paint, etc.). But the gist of it is
below.
1) Open the image in your image editor - or create it there
2) Expand the canvas to create extra "blank" space on the
image (for the caption)
3) Use the "Text" tool to create your caption text and add it
to that blank space.
4) Save the image - BMP format works very well, but any
format supported by Captivate.
5) Close the image editor
6) Open or switch to Captivate and the slide on which you
want to place it.
7) Select "Insert > Rollover Image"
8) Select the image (with its included caption)
9) Set its attributes and position it on the slide.
Hope this helps. The reason you wont' find this in the "Help"
files is because it is a creative use of images that is not a
supported function of Captivate itself. If you would like to see
future versions of Captivate support the creation of
images-with-captions, the way to do it is to submit it as a feature
request. The form to do that
is
located at this link
Hope this helps.

  • Images and caption for epub

    Hi,
I have a lot of pictures with captions in my ebook and want them to appear together on the same page. My pictures are anchored in the center of the page so are the captions.
I tried to group them but still the image and caption appears most of the time on a separate page.  I even tried to put the caption on top of the picture but still the caption and image are on a separate page.
    Any idea?
    Thanks a lot!!

  • CS5 - Exporting images and captions to epub

I am exporting an inDesign document to epub and would like to create image captions that stay with their images as the text flows across page breaks.
I am anchoring the images inline to the text, and the images are fine. When it comes to the captions I am grouping the images with manually created captions in text boxes (prior to anchoring). The captions stay with the images while in inDesign, but when exported to epub the captions float separately and onto the next page without their images. And I have tried the built in live/static captions, but am having the same issue.
What are your recommendations for creating captions that stay with  the images in an epub?
    Thanks!

There is no way to get InDesign to automatically keep captions to images when exporting to epub other than making the caption a part of the image itself.
If you want to keep the caption live text then you have to edit the CSS. How to get this to work depends largely on what devices you plan on publishing your epub to.

  • Set Cell Editor Image and Caption to Rows in ALV

    Hi,
i want to set cell editor different elements to a column of alv. Please follow the link of screenshot.
    Can somebody help me pls?
    Thanks.

yes it is possible, basically you have to change the cell desing (for background colors) and insert the icons based on some condition.
    lr_col = lr_config_model->if_salv_wd_column_settings~get_column( 'CARRID' ).
      lr_col->SET_CELL_DESIGN( '02' ) .
this will change the background color, and you have to call another method to insert the icon.

  • Rollover text and images in Captivate CS4

    Hi All,
I am trying to create a rollover image and rollover caption that both appear at the same time when I move over a particular area of my slide.  In my example below i want to rollover the arm of the body and have the text and the image appear at the same time.  I have tried to put the 2 rollover areas over each other but this seems to give priority to whichever rollover area is on top.  Any hints to make this work would be of great help!!

    Hi there
What you need to do is abandon each rollover type. Instead, insert a Rollover Slidelet. Then insert a Text Caption and an Image into the Slidelet area. Then on a single mouseover, display the slidelet. Time the Slidelet as needed.
Either that or create a larger image containing both the Text Caption and the Image as a large consolidated image. Then just insert a Rollover Image that shows the larger consolidated image when moused over.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Tagging an image with a callout and caption

The document is created in MSWord 2013. It contains screen captured images along with added call-outs and a caption for each (see image #2 below). The call-outs extend outside the image border. I used the 'group' option in Word to group each of the elements together as they tend to move around the page during the editing process. The 'picture' group is formatted as 'inline with text' or 'top and bottom'.
In Adobe Acrobat XI Pro, I am trying to fix the tags for the figures. Although each of the elements are group in Word, they are appearing as separate elements/tags. (see image #1 below) ...the image is one Figure, the call-out is another Figure and the caption is yet another Figure. How should I handle this type of situation?  I have tried:
    1. to tag all three elements as a 'Figure'. Sometimes this works; sometimes the caption and/or the text in the call-out disappear.
    2. to tag all three elements as a 'Figure/Caption'; however, I get the same results as above...sometimes the caption and/or text in the call-out disappear.
    3. I also tagged the call-out as 'background' and then tagged the image and caption together as either 'figure' or 'figure/caption'; however, when selecting the image and caption, I must select the call-out as well because of it's proximity to the image. End result: text in call-out disappears.
What is the proper way to tag in this situation?
As an aside, I find the entering the ALT text in MSWord does not carry over to the PDF. I've experimented with the too. I've added the ALT text to the image on its own and to the group. I've added it to the "Title" field; however, the ALT text field in the PDF is empty. I've given up on adding this in Word and now add them directly to the tag.
If someone can help point me in the right direction on how to fix the tag issues for images/callouts/caption, I'd be very grateful!!!!!  (BTW, using a page layout application is not an option. I must use MSWord 2013 to create my documents.)

    HI 'C' student!
Thanks for the info. I will give the Content pane a try.
I think my Word 2013 might have a bug.  When i enter text into either the 'title' field or the 'description' field, the text does not move over or wrap around so that i can fully see what i've entered. i wonder if this is impacting the carry-over into the pdf file?
the company I work for does not 'officially' support this version of Word, as i am an 'early adoptor' of this version. until the rest of the company moves to this version, i'm kinda on my own. i am going to see who i can speak with to see about getting an update, though. maybe that will fix the problem.
    thanks again,

  • Fade in Fade out not working on Rollover Image for Captivate 6

    Hi
I am totally baffled with this issue.  When I use Fade in 0.5 sec and Fade Out 0.5 seconds on a rollover image, it will not work.  I even changed the default on my preferences for rollover images and it still will not work and does not show in my accordian panel in properties.
If I use Captivate 5, I do not have any problem.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Jeff

Are you forgetting that a rollover object has two parts?  It has a hit area and the object that appears when you mouse over the hit area. Each part can have different settings in the Properties tab. In a  rollover caption, the object that appears is a text caption.  In a rollover image, the object is an image.
If you select the rollover object on the timeline, the Properties you see for it in the Properties tab are for the hit area.  So having fade in or fade out set there will not affect the object that appears on mouseover.
If you select the caption or image on the stage in Edit mode, the properties shown in the Properties tab are for that specific object and can be different from the hit area of the same rollover object.
In your case, make sure that your image is set to have fade in or fade out.  Fading on a hit area of a rollover object is not really useful at all.

  • Copying a table with rollover images & links

    Need help...
    Using Dreamweaver CS4.
I have a table with rollover images and links from those rollovers"
I now want to copy and paste the table into other pages, but when I do, my links are broken and the rollovers don't work.
I have my Site Def preferences set to "Links relative to: Document"
Is there an easy way to copy & paste a table with rollover graphics and links?
I've tried dragging the table from the page with the working links onto the different page.  The graphics show up, but the second state of the rollovers soesn't show up, and I get some weird link error:
    Can anyone help?

  • Rollover - make highlight and caption appear

I'm creating a screenshot tour of our application, and I want
to allow the user to hover over different areas of the screen --
which then produces a highlight box that greys out the rest of the
screen and a text caption appears with information about that area.
I've tried using the rollover caption, but the highlight box
appears at all times instead of on rollover.
Has anyone found a way to do this?
    Thanks,
    Heather

I know this is an older question but this may help. I liked
the answer Captiv8r gave and it gave me an idea. The main issue is
not only the rollover but the hightlight box.
The problem I see is a highlight box will appear by the time
line but the rollover by the mouse. I don't see how they would ever
    work together predictably.
I took a cue from the example and I created an image that had
part of the screen with areas grayed out and the text. I created
two images and combined them into one and made that image the
rollover. It looked pretty good for a quick version.
The problem I have had in doing this is to have rollovers for
an entire computer screen can be too much for one slide. That is
why I have always used multiple slides of the same screen and let
the user navigate over them to learn the complete screen.

  • Create an image and text rollover in Dreamweaver?

I'm wanting an image and text to have a link and then the image and text to change to another image and text automaticly.  Here is a link that I want it to look like.  (local hot spots) Is there a way in Dreamweaver to do it or by inserting HTML code...

Thanks to any help I can get.

All depends on what you want.
CSS a:hover affects the text/image mouseover state.

Disjointed content inside <span> tags displays wherever you code it to appear on hover.

  • HTML5 and rollover images

    Hi there.
Just wondering if there's any workaround for using rollover images when publishing to HTML5.
I've also noticed that links and widgets don't always work correctly when publishing to HTML5. Will I just have to publish everything as SWF?
    Thanks.

Almost all widgets that have ever been created for Captivate are SWF and therefore NOT compatible with HTML5 output.  If you have SWF widgets in your project and you want them to work then YES you will need to output as HTM/SWF instead of HTML5.
In the mobile world, there is no mouse.  So rollover needs to be re-developed as a tap or swipe.  Effectively a click or drag.

  • CSS Rollover Menu with Images and Current Page Indicator

    Hello.
I have found a very interesting video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vv8cRYGCvIY about creating a CSS Rollover Menu with Images and Current Page Indicator (I tested it and it is working fine).
I have a web site with 15 pages based on a template and I want to use that video sample to do the same thing on my web site.
Please tell me if I can use the sample from the link above to do that.
What should I change in the css file (what new class should I make) to make this work on a web site based on a template  ?
    Thank You !

I don't know about that video tutorial but a sitewide persistent menu indicator ('you are here' highlighting) is very simple to do with CSS classes.

  • Rollover on one image and another jumps up!

Please respond to my email: [email protected]
How do I solve this problem-- In my image gallery, I mouse
over on an image and up comes the image, HOWEVER, another image
jumps up too.... Since all five images are in a row with space
between each. When I mouse over, one or two more images sometimes
jump up when they are not supposed to. HOW DO I SOLVE THIS????
    HELP.
There are eight frames on timeline for the tweening. I click
on SCENE, and choose ACTIONS: the Actionscript I put in separately
for each movie clip is shown below:
    on (rollOver) {
    this.gotoAndPlay(2);
    this.swapDepths(1);
    on (rollOut) {
    this.gotoAndPlay(8);

    This worked for me:
    1) Figure out what the broken genre is, and where it goes.  For example, I would touch "Rock" and get a list of "Pop".
    2) Remove from the device all songs from the targeted genre ("Pop" in my example), while keeping songs that belong to the broken genre ("Rock" in my example).  I sync everything, so for me this meant changing to "Selected playlists, ..." and then checking all the genres except the one I didn't want.  (Renaming the targeted genre will not work.  The songs need to be removed.  I found that there seemed to be one song that triggered the bad link.)
    3) Use the device to access the broken genre again ("Rock" in my example).  It will re-index (this took a few seconds for me) and then display the correct entries for the genre.
    4) Repeat steps 1-3 for any other broken genres.
Certainly this is a bug, but these steps allowed me to work around it.

  • Help! needed with behaviors - iFrames (open URLs and rollover images)

I'm able to target an iFrame and open a series of images from text link numbers on same page.
But I'm not able to simultaneously target another smaller iFrame and have a thumbnail of the same image load
when the full size image loads in the full size iFrame,
nor can I get a rollover image to load in the smaller thumbnail iFrame when I mouseover the text link numbers.
I have nav link mouseover images on the same page, so I  numbered the thumbnail mouseovers consecutively after the navbar mouseovers.
Previously, thumbnail mouseovers had been numbered beginning with Image1 like my nav bar mouseovers,
and thumbnail images would load in my nav bar,
but now they won't load at all.
    Suggestions?
    See - http://dstall.com/ld/products/priest/byzantine/

OK, I got swap image to work for both images, but it's still not doing what I want.
    See 1, 2, 3 under 'Accessories' in left div -  http://dstall.com/ld/products/accessories/
Mouseover of each number loads appropriate thumbnail AND full size image.
I want mouseover to only load thumbnails, then on mouseout, load thumbnail corresponding to full size image that is currently loaded.
When clicking on a number, I want corresponding thumbnail and full size image both to load and to remain loaded.
    Please check/correct my source code.
    Here's how I constructed swap image -
I highlighted my text 'number', entered placeholder link (#), left 'target blank', selected onClick, then SwapImage behavior -
SwapAction then appears next to onMouseOver even though that's not where I had applied the behavior.
