Sequences in the Repository OWB
Hi,
I research the table where the sequences objects are stored.
In the database Oracle, the table is user_sequences.
Thanks for your help.
Patrick
Alas, I don't know what repository table contains the list of sequences that are used in a particular mapping.
But if you are looking for a way to see where a particular sequence is used, you should be able to use the OWB client to do so. Using the Design Center, locate the sequence you are interested in, right click on it and choose Impact (or Lineage) ... This should show you were the sequence is used.

How we run the sequence of mapping in owb?
I have warehouse building mapping which is developed by some one. Now i wanted to run from beginging to end. I am able to run individual mapping manually.
But i want to run all mapping(not like running one by one). Since i am not sure the sequences of the mapping.
I want to start the first mapping and it should run all the dependent mapping automatically until end. Any help is highly appreciated.
I tried to create process flow and process flow package.. But i am not sure, how i can connect all the developed mapping...Thanks for the input. based on your input, i found that, OWB workflow manager is not configured.
I went to this folder and execute wfinstall.csh file.

How to change the 'Default operating mode' of a mapping on the repository and not from the client
Hi everybody,
I am using OWB 11.2.0.3 and under the mapping's configuration property, I have the necessity to change the Run time parameter "Default operating mode" to SET_BASED in almost all my mappings.
Because I have 745 mappings in which the Default operating mode is different from SET_BASED, instead to open 745 times the 'Configure' and update manually the value, is there a way to update safely these values (with an oracle predefined script) directly on the repository ?
I know that exists a view called CMPSTRINGPROPERTYVALUE_V based on a table called CMPSCOPrpClasses, but changing this table it's very complicated for me because contains only keys and then I don't know in which way is connected with all the other structures....
If somebody knows a method more efficient to do these updates on the repository and not from OWB client I will appreciated it!
Thanks in advance
AlessandroUrgent... help!!! Thanks
in short, my server log says transaction access mode is "read only", so my calling home.create() always triggers a transaction rollback. How to change the access mode to "read write"?
Is possible to work out through one of the descriptor files? Or ini settings of the underlying pointbase database? Or any other way around? -

Any idea why these errors and how to fix this ?
Thanks in advance
Devika.Devika,
You have to stop all your adapters, your repository, close all IStudio client and stop all sessions connected to this schema before running the oaiimport.
If you don't do this the oaiimport will not work properly as the script will not be able to drop the user and will try to re-create existing objects.
Tip : use the following select to list the session using oaihub902 user (and get rid off them)
select username, count(*)
from V$session
where username in ('OAIHUB902')
group by username
order by count(*) desc, username

Updating data in the repository
I am currently converting and loading a database that I have in Sybase into OWB repository in order to build a datawarehouse. My question is I need to provide a front-end to update these data. If I move the Sybase database to an OWB repository, can I still build a front-end to access and update the data or do I move the tables to a schema in Oracle..then reference that schema in the repository?
Thanks!Hi,
Go to transaction RSANWB in your system and check in the general tab, if there are more entries then you can go for earlier suggested option but otherwise you can simply double click all the APD's and check the data target, till you get the required APD.

Using sequence in diff schema (OWB 10g R1)
I am trying to use a sequence belonging to instance A schema 1...in a mapping whose objects (source, target tables) are in instance B schema 2.
How do i do this in OWB ?
I imported the sequence from the schema 1 into the mapping using a DBLINK...betn the 2 schemas. i did not deploy the sequence using deployment mgr into target schema. I executed the mapping after deploying other objects...and I am getting an error: sequence doesn't exist.
i even stated the schema and the particular db link name in the configuration of the particular mapping before executing.
i am trying to run the following SQL statement (it inserts records appropriately in TOAD) using OWB....but am unable to generate a mapping in OWB with the @CDW.WORLD. That could be the potential problem.
INSERT INTO TEST_TARGET.TEST_TAB_VW (ATTRIBUTE, VALUE,PROFIT_CENTER,PC_ID)
VALUES ('TESTING','VAL',300098210,[email protected])
Your guidance will be invaluable.
Thank you all.

fire_fightingUrghh,
developing and not being allowed to create a sequence. You have a tough task.
I can think of two ways to do this. But I can not test it myself, sorry.
First, create a source module. One in wich you normally only have source tables and views. Let this point to the database/schema where you have the sequence. with a dblink. Import the defenition of your sequence. Use your sequence in a mapping you make in a dwh module. If you generate the mapping, it should be with the dblink information. Just as it would generate the connection for a source table or view.
If this does not work. The dirty way is to make the sequence in the dwh module and just use it in your mapping. After deployment of your mapping, edit the mapping source. It is just plain pl/sql. Find every occurence of the sequence and replace it with one on the remote server. Perhaps you can make a macro for it.
There are many good reasons why you don't want to use post-generation-steps. Maintenance, documentation, error-prone etc.
But it works. :-)
Hope this helps.

Runtime audit browser shows the status busy for the cancelled OWB jobs
Hi ,
I canceled long running OWB job.But the runtime audit browser was showing the status as BUSY.
I observed the the oracle session (SID:48) was running and killed the session.
After killing the session, the status in runtime audit browser changed to COMPLETED.
Till that time i was with an impression that "if we cancel a OWB job then it will kill all the sessions/process that initiated".
Could please tell me why this is happening?
Anything wrong with my configuration?
Appreciate early response.
Thanks,
NaiduHi Naidu
Yes you are absolutely right. When you press the cancel button in the GUI, the runtime repository does not get the signal that he is been asked to stop and abort. The GUI cancels himself but the background oracle process is still on !!!. The only way to do is to kill the oracle session. Another way I tried to tackle is
go to the directiry OWB/10.1/owb/rtp/sql and run the file @list_request.sql in sqlplus. Note that you have to login as runtime repositiry owner. After you get the audit id, run the file abort_exec_request.sql and supply the audit id that you obtained by running list_requests.sql. Sometimes it does not work also . Hence the best method is to kill the process -

Failed Creating the First Workspace in the Repository on Linux
Hello,
I have two machines with Oracle Linux 5:
Machine 1 --> Oracle Linux 5 (64 bits) + Oracle DB 11g R2 + OBI 11g R1
Machine 2 --> Oracle Linux 5 (32 bits) + I would like to have here OWB 11g
To install OWB in the machine 2 to have access to ODB in the other machine I have followed:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/owb.112/e17130.pdf --> Chapter 4: Configuring Oracle Warehouse Builder for Linux (I have done these steps over Machine 1):
@/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/owb/UnifiedRepos/cat_owb.sql USERS
@/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/owb/UnifiedRepos/reset_owbcc_home.sql
/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/owb
alter user owbsys identified by owbsys account unlock;
alter user owbsys_audit identified by owbsys_audit account unlock;
@/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/owb/UnifiedRepos/remote_owb_install.sql /u01/OWB_Remote
Over Machine 2 I have tried to create the repository (after I've installed Oracle Client and validate that I can communicate with the DB in Machine 1):
/reposinst.sh
When is doing the creation over 50%, I have the following error:
java.sql.SQLEXception: ORA-06576 : it is not a valid function or procedure name
I am looking for a solution over two days ago, and I am desesperate with this issue.
Any idea is welcome!!
Thank you and regards,
MónicaCan you also advise if these are complicated workflows or high traffic lists?

Error configuring the repository using Repository Assistant.
Hi,
I have a SYSDBA access to a oracle 9i instance and i tried to configure the OWB Repository through Repository Assistant. I am getting the following error.
How can i rectify this error.
INS0037 - The initialization parameter job_queue_processes of the Database <instance_Name> cannot be set to zero. the recommended value for OWB is 10 or larger. Please change the parameter settings in the database, then coontinue the repository installation.
Thanks and Regards,
SomaHi Soma,
you have to set the parameter job_queue_processes for your db to 10 or larger.
In advance verify with your dba that the parameter is not set to zero on purpose to prevent other jobs from running!
Regards,
Carsten. -
I am not able to start the repository administratiion utility
i installed the oracle designer on windows XP and i did all the steps specified in the documentation but when i try to start the repository administration utility no program starts.
can u tell me what to do please,,,,,Sounds like you are either on xp home (Designer does not work on home edition)
or you have not installed the repository on the database.
Try these instructions for installing the repository:
After you install the IDS 10G in a new oracle home on the Client windows PC you will find the intall manual under:

The following are the step I use to build a new repository
You will need to set paths and names as you desire for your local PCs and repostiory.

Step 5b - (Oracle 9i or 10.2 DB) Install Oracle 9i or 10.2 Import and Export Utilities
Before installing Designer Repository on an Oracle 9i or 10.2 database, you need to set up the installation workstation to use the Oracle 9i or 10.2 import and export utilities. To do so, perform the following steps at the workstation from which you will be running the repository installation:
From the Oracle 9i or 10.2 installation media, install the Oracle 9i or 10.2 import and export utilities in a dedicated Oracle home.
In the Windows Registry, locate the key named:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\KEY_HomeName\REPOS61
where HOMEn is the home number of the home installed into for a multiple Oracle home environment, but is not present where the default Oracle home is being used.
Change the value of the EXECUTE_IMPORT and EXECUTE_EXPORT variables to point to the new Oracle home. Thus, if the new Oracle home is d:\des_9i, the settings would be:
