Sliced and imported photoshop layout into dreamweaver

First, I am a newbie to all of this web design stuff and
coding and dreamweaver. I wanted to create my first website so here
I am. I went through 2 different tutorials (youtube and on
lynda.com) I created a layout in photoshop and I also sliced it. I
imported it into dreamweaver (CS3 by the way).....I somewhat
understand what I am doing. I did all the defining a site and I
clicked on the content box that I sliced and deleted it and
inserted a div / added the image that go there, then I made that
area editable. The layout I imported I saved it as a
template.Anyway, so basically I am clicking on each sliced area,
deleting it, and inserting a div there. No problem. Now, the sliced
areas that has about, home, contact, etc.....those I needed to make
as links/clickable images. So, before performing the delete then
inserting a div part.....I first clicked on the sliced area then at
the bottom of the screen, where it says link, I did a point to
file, basically linked it. Now, when I preview it in the browser,
it displays boxes around the sliced navigation menu, which it is
nit suppose to. see here is a screen shot...
http://i36.tinypic.com/2eowewm.jpg
What did I do wrong? Why is it showing up in a table when I
didn't create it in a table? How can I remove that purple looking
table border?
Also, when I go to each of the sliced navigation menu, then
delete it and insert a div..... the image there...it will not let
me turn it into a link.
How do I turn my sliced navigation menu images into links. I
know I am doing something wrong but just don't know what it is. Is
there a code I can use or am I suppose to modify or insert
something? and how do I remove the box from around it?
What is an easy way? Is there a tutorial out there?
I want my layout to look like what I mocked up in photoshop.
Is there a way I can create the same layout in dreamweaver? The
problem isn't the background, it's trying to get the pink area in
the center of the lalayout. I didn't know how to do that so thats
why I tried the way of creating it in photoshop.
Please help

    Hi
Currently there is no way to do this, but for future reference css3 and html5 will both support this feature.

Yes I have looked at the Muse code and also looked at it in a plain html editor, (Been using Arachnophilia for about 15 years)
and the code is a mess.
You are dead right. I figured I would start with Muse to get some of the concepts sorted out, and that has worked, but I know I will need to use DW for my main site

  • Importing Photoshop Layouts

    Hey,
When I import a sliced photoshop document into dreamweaver it
works fine. But when I delete a Slice to make it an editable region

it messes up the entire page. It shifts the slices to places they

  • How is the Raw data used in iPhoto. I currently shoot both jpeg and raw and import them both into iPhoto.

How is the Raw data used in iPhoto? I currently shoot both jpeg and raw and import them both into iPhoto. What do I gain by collecting Raw data?
    Thanks

You get more parameters for making adjustments to the image. This is not really an iPhoto question but more a general photography one. In rather simple terms here's how a digital camera works:
You expose an image. A lot of data is gathered in by the sensor. But it's just a bug lump of data and not very useful in that form.
In cameras that shoot jpeg that mass of data is interpreted/processed into an actual image, and the image is stored in a jpeg file. (that's a process broadly analogous to developing a film). The decisions that go into making that interpretation are all made by an engineer somewhere, back when the camera was developed.
If you shoot Raw, then what you do is take that mass of data, and rather than working to the decisions made by that engineer, you develop the shot - you run the digital darkroom.
Why would you do this? Take on all this extra work? Well one of three reasons: a: you think you can do a better job than that engineer. b: you just prefer the result you get when you develop yourself or c: you're a hopeless shooter and raw means you have more options to fix the mistakes you made in the camera. (That's why I do it.)
Here endeth the two dollar tour. So, basically, if you're happy with what your camera produces in Jpeg then there's really no need to shoot Raw.
There's no need at all to shoot Raw+Jpeg as iPhoto creates a jpeg preview when you import, so you're just wasting space.

  • How to put Photoshop templates into Dreamweaver

After purchasing templates and downloading, I discovered the
page layouts for the templates were Photoshop files. I made the
changes I wanted to make in Photoshop and now need to put in
Dreamweaver. There is a Flash file that is giving me error messages
when I open the index page. When I try to insert an image (the
page) it comes in a new window. I'm definitely not doing this
    correctly.
Can anyone tell me how to insert them into
    Dreamweaver?

Actually, I had forgotten about SiteGrinder. Its code is not
    bad, to tell
you the truth. They have taken alot of trouble to make things
    more stable
than a slap-dash, layer-based layout, but it is, to be sure
    still strongly
rooted in absolute positioning. It might be an expedient way
    to go, but
there is no substitute for some good HTML/CSS knowledge.

  • Photoshop layout in Dreamweaver

Hello, I've made a web layout in Photoshop, which I then have
gotten into Dreamweaver. That works perfectly, but its when I want
to add text I got the problems. When I writes this text, alot of
    slices/imgaes jumping to the right.
So then I was thinking of making the whole layout aligned as
bottom, so I can write my text on the layout images.
So my question is how to do that? And is that the best way of
    solvng this problem?
    Thanks!

  • Convert Joomla layout into Dreamweaver

    Hallo all,
I'm new to web development and my current site is made with Joomla. Because I want my site to be better found by search engine's, I have read some articles abouw SEO. And one of the thinks that I found is that the amount of code and the amount of text should be in balance. Now my website bouwcoördinatie has a bad balance of code and content. One of the reasons is that this is due to the use of Joomla, which put a lot of code in it. So because I'm also interrested in creating websites, I looked at program's that could help me creating easily a website, but I don't need a re-design of my site.
My question now is, is it possible to convert a layout that is made in Joomla directly into Dreamweaver? That should save me a lot of time!
    Thanks in advance!

First of all, there is nothing in Joomla that should "rate you down" in terms of web search. You have a small website with very little content and the more content you have, the better you will be.
If you are doing home renovation, I recommend that you show before and after pictures, galleries of your work and make sure that every photograph has an "alt" tag that describes it. Dedicate a certain number of hours monthly to taking photos and putting them up on your website, expand it with each new project you build and be patient. Within time your website will rise in the rankings, due to the authority it represents as well as the content.
Here is an example. This landscaper came to me and complained because he was not #1-ranked in the search engines in his area. The main issue was that his former partner's website was higher-ranked and he had taken a dislike to his former partner.
My client did what I told him to do. Add to his website. As he's a landscaper, he does this annually, in the winter when he is not working. Every photo is labeled, every photo has an alt tag and is fully-described. I used Project 7's Image Gallery Magic to do his presentations—to good advantage. It took about two years, but if you are looking for a landscaping contractor in Connecticut, his site comes up on top consistently.
Mind you, I did his site in Dreamweaver. There is no content management system. But server-side code is completely invisible to search engines, and they ignore JavaScript. There is not a lot of written content on his website, but each photo is tagged appropriately and visible to the blind (and remember, search engines are like blind people).
Changing to a site managed in Dreamweaver  alone will not change your ranking. Content is King. Add more to yur website and you'll be doing the right thing.
If you insist on dumping Joomla, the way to start is to copy the CSS (style sheet) from your Joomla site and rebuild from there. But you'll need to understand CSS and HTML.
By the way, I do like your graphic artist. Very nice images.

  • Can't import Photoshop files into Premiere Pro

I am learning Premiere Pro CS6 and I am using a book titled "Classroom in a Book".  One of the exercises is to import a Photoshop file into Premiere Pro.  I received a generic error message "The importer reported a generic error".  I found that if I run Premiere Pro as an Administrator that the issue goes away.  I wasn't too worried about it until I realized that my ShuttleXpress does not function when I am running Premiere Pro as an Administrator.  Does anyone have any idea what is going on???? This is very frustrating.

I only have one account on the computer and it has Administrator priveleges.  What I am doing to make it work is opening the application using the "Run as Administrator" command (e.g., right click application shortcut on desktop, choose "Run as Administrator").  I am not a Windows guru but I would guess there is something different between opening an Application with a user that has Administrator priveleges and opening an Application choosing "Run as Administrator".  Also, your answer still does not address the fact that I can't use my jog wheel.
    Anyone else have some ideas?

  • Importing Photoshop files into premiere pro CS6 issues

    Hi
I recently re-installed Premiere Pro CS6 on my work computer (i changed from a HDD to an SSD). Ever since I did this I am having an issue importing .PSD files into Premiere.
I try and import a photoshop file. The importer window comes up. The progress bar starts to move, then pauses and the Importer says 'Not Responding'. After a few seconds it comes back and throws up the following error:
Error message - 'The importer reported a generic error'
All projects i previously worked on that had .PSD files in them are now reporting these files as 'Media Offline' meaning I have to replace them with .PNG files which is really annoying.
Any ideas what might be happening? The files I am trying to import are RGB .PSD's. They worked previously without any issues.
    I have Premiere Pro Version 6.0.5 (001 (MC: 264587))
running on a Windows 7 machine with Service Pack 1, 64 bit OS, 16GB Ram and Intel Core i7-2600
Many thanks in advance for anyone who can help me with this!

Yes, MXF should play perfectly in PP CS6, but if you can't work this out at this point, you may wrap your MXF video to something intermediate. as a matter of face, Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 seems to work fine if you import your MXF clips directly from a camera or camcorder, but if have already copied MXF recordings your HDD or you downloaded them from somewhere else, the import error may occur.
So i suggest you convert the MXF footage to something mezzanine we would recommend DNxHD.mov (if you are on a PC) or Apple ProRes .mov (if on a mac). those two intermediate codecs are good mezzanine codecs that handle recompression well and standup well in other areas of post-production (color grading, graphics, compositing, etc,). You can see what I wrote about the solution. "Why Premiere Pro CS6 can't import MXF files?" i hope that it is helpful to you.

  • Importing Photoshop files into Illustrator CS3

I'm running into a problem in Illustrator CS3 when I try and import a native CS3 Photoshop file. If I try and place the file as a linked file I get an application error stating that there was insufficient virtual memory. And, if I select cancel I get a run time error and Illustrator crashes.
If I try and embed the file I get the same results. It doesn't seem to matter what the file size is and .tif's work just fine up to huge sizes 100Mb+.
As to the system I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate (x64) 8Gb of ram, two SCSI drives with virtual ram assigned to both so memory issues, well, shouldn't be issues.
    Anyone got any ideas?

Ok, so ADOBE needs to get up off their a$$e$ and address this problem, However some of you guys make it sound like its the end of the world... Here's a way to go around it in the meantime- at least this is how my PC is reacting (you might not be as lucky, but worth a try)
After getting my "insufficient virtual memory" error, try closing Illustrator down and then open the file from the OS window (not from within illustrator or browse)by double-clicking the file you'll automatically open Illustrator,it might take a couple of tries but after my second attempt it opened my file (took a little long) and I got a different error message "there was an error with the embeded file what do you want to do - replace file, correct file, ignore file, cancel" (msg not verbatim but close - not at my comp right now)
Then just ignore the files delete the links (they'll show up as blank boxes) If your just using those embedded psd's for previewing purposes you'll just have to save a flattened tiff everytime you make a change and keep saving over that same tiff so illustrator will automatically update it to you illustrator file.
sorry for the long post, but hopefully it helps ease the pain!

  • Importing photoshop images into fcp?

I'm currently working on a project where i'm having to blend in images/photos (jpeg/tiff format) with the HD footage i'm editing with. Simple question really; do you recommend that I re-size the images in photoshop so that the image is the same dimensions as the footage in final cut? I know some blurring/loss of image quality will occur but that's not important at this stage.
For instance my settings in fcp are HD 1440x1080, 16:9 aspect ratio. Just so I don't get left with big black borders around my photos once they're in the sequence is it best that I doctor them in photoshop and size them to the exact fcp frame that i'm working with?
I assume that if the image is too big for the frame in fcp it will crop the image so it fits nicely?
Thanks for your help on this,
    Alex

Your assumptions are all misguided; you're in control of everything FCP will attempt to do to your still images. However, you need to understand how to wrest that control from the defaults and that's a few dozen pages in the manuals.
Bringing layered Photoshop documents into FCP is different than importing still image files. Another section in the manual. There are entire websites dedicated to this topic, too, and you're going to to need to experiement on the numerous techniques suggested.
At its basic level, you want your images to have pixel dimensions that will support the maximum zoom you will want to use. If all of your images are simple full frames, create your still in the exact pixel dimensions of your sequence. Yes, you must understand the difference between square and rectangular pixels. Manual again.
If you intend to do zooms or other complex moves, you will want to size your images about 200% larger than your HD sequence.
Still images have no fields, only sequences do.
Stick around for a few more days and you'll get several additional posts.

  • CONVERTING and IMPORTING .VOB files into FCP?

    Hi.
I made a dvd of an old vhs tape of mine using a Sony consumer vhs-->dvd component.
Haven't had any trouble in the past using MPEG streamclip to convert .vob files and import into fcp (from dvd's NOT made on this particular machine) --but for some reason, this dvd doesn't seem to contain those files.
The icon of the dvd appears as a folder on my desktop with a small red circle on it.
The dvd plays fine on my G5, but the folder appears to be empty when opened.
    I'm stumped.
    Anyone?

Buy or hire one of these: http://www.grassvalley.com/products/advcprofessionalfamily then you can capture the tape directly into FCP as a QuickTime .mov that uses the DV codec.
Don't forget to switch the *Device Control* setting in Log & Capture to *Non-Controllable Device* first.

  • How can I avoid pixilation and image degradation when I import PhotoShop files into Final Cut Pro X.9?

When ever I import a RGP file (11.8 MB) into FC 10.9 I get pixilation with jagged images showing up on the full screen view.
Any way or possiblity of solving this problem?
    Happy New Year!

An RGP file?  Not officially supported by FCP X.  Now, if you're going through Photoshop, save it out as a PSD or PNG, you'll be fine.  And make sure the frame size matches the frame size of your FCP Project tilmeline.  If it is smaller, and must be enlarged to fit the frame, it will pixelate.  Can't enlarge digital images much without distroying them.
