[SOLVED]Errors? on startx
I normally do my login at tty and then issue the startx command. When I hit Ctrl + Alt + F1 to see the vc/1, it has a bunch of things listed

I am concerned about the last few lines. I know I haven't installed any of the gnome, kde or xfce and not even hsetroot and esetroot. Where is this info getting pulled from? Do I have to be worried and how do I get rid of it?
Also what about the font path element thing?
Also when I start conky, I see that some of the output is displayed on vc/1. I never saw that on any other distro...maybe I should check again in Debian if that happens....
Conky forked to background, pid is 2610
Conky: desktop window (c1) is root window
Conky: window type - override
Conky: drawing to created window (a00001)
Conky: drawing to double buffer

Correct, but why use tty for it?
ghosthack wrote:
The
# Run the system-wide support stuff

in your local autostart file makes openbox read the system-wide settings first (/etc/xdg/openbox/autostart.sh). The 'errors' you see come from the following peice of code
# Set a background color
BG=""
if which hsetroot >/dev/null; then
BG=hsetroot
else
if which esetroot >/dev/null; then
BG=esetroot
else
if which xsetroot >/dev/null; then
BG=xsetroot

test -z $BG || $BG -solid "#303030"
# D-bus
if which dbus-launch >/dev/null && test -z "$DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS"; then
eval `dbus-launch --sh-syntax --exit-with-session`
fi
# Make GTK apps look and behave how they were set up in the gnome config tools
if test -x /usr/libexec/gnome-settings-daemon >/dev/null; then
/usr/libexec/gnome-settings-daemon &

# Make GTK apps look and behave how they were set up in the XFCE config tools
elif which xfce-mcs-manager >/dev/null; then
xfce-mcs-manager n &
fi
# Preload stuff for KDE apps
if which start_kdeinit >/dev/null; then
LD_BIND_NOW=true start_kdeinit --new-startup +kcminit_startup &

It's basically looking for different ways to set the background and for any service daemons to be started. The messages you see are just the normal output to STDERR from which/test if you want to get rid of them you coud remove the $GLOBALAUTOSTART line.
I kept the globalautostart line, because I was not sure what else was in the global and I didn't want anything to NOT start. But will try that out now
ghosthack wrote:EDIT: just spoted this line "And those errors are not the only ones, I even get some when I start pcmanfm, something about not being able to connect to hal, even though I have hal installed and running on startup under rc.xml". HAL should be started as a system daemon in rc.conf, not in openbox's rc.xml (was that a typo? if so check what groups your user is a member of)
Whoops !! my bad. Yes that was a typo. I did mean that I started hal in rc.conf. The rc's in both Arch and Openbox got me confused.

How to solve error -1450?
I have been re-installed iTunes, and it keeps pop-up with the error -1450 ( cannot save music library ), and it reloads all the playlist each time I switch on the computer and open iTunes.
I have been re-install iTunes after the error appear, and it seems although I have re-install iTunes, the problem doesn't solve and keeps repeat.
For any kindness, please tell how I can fix this error, as I cannot find any articles on support page about this.
ThanksDoes anyone know how to solve error 1450 or even what
caused it!? This problem is killing me.

How do you solve error "You can't use this version of the application Install Mac OS X.app with this version of Mac OS X" when trying to go back to leopard from lion?
Local Mac shop said to hold down "c" after inserting disk to get "disk utility" to come up in order to wipe hard drive. I can't seem to get it to do this.This W7 was purchased for using Fusion, as others did - per reviews from amazon. The technician today called their contact at VMWare - Fusion not officially for use with Lion - even though I read at the VMWare support site that others have made it work. Apparently my setup doesn't work.
Do you know how to do the proceedure for bringing up the disk utility when starting the disk?
BTW, some of the windows applications I want to continue using are Incredimail, Calendarscope, Stamps.com and a few others I have used over many years. What do you use for email and calendar?
Wow, sounds like another reason to not use MS Windows.
Regarding your Disk Utility question, please elablorate I'm not sure what you're trying to do. Disk Utilty is just that...a utility, it's something most users never have to use especially on a new computer. Let me know what you're trying to do there before I give you some instructions.
As for as your Windows apps I would recommend using Mail and iCal, both come as part of OS X and are very robust tools. Don't discount the software built right into OS X it's very robust and powerful not all like the bloatware most Windows boxes ship with. Stamps.com well I'd look for another alternative. It's clear they don't support OS X which makes me a little suspicious that they're so behind the times.
Also if you have not been exposed to these links before I'd strongly recommend bookmarking them and using them. They're extermely useful!

How can I solve error 1004?
Did you try this for deleting photos that I posted in your thread ? Photos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad - either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view. Photos that were synced from your computer are deleted by moving/removing/de-selecting them from where they were synced from and then re-syncing.
For '1004' then there are various 'solutions' mentioned from this post onwards which might work for you : https://discussions.apple.com/message/15652754#15652754 - different things appear to have worked for different people. -

[SOLVED] Error when starting awesome WM.
I'm not sure if this should go here or in Workstation User, so sorry if I got it wrong. When I try to startx with "exec awesome &" in my .xinitrc I get an "expected keysym, got XF86Info: line 914 of inet" error. Someone suggested that it could be my keybindings in my rc.lua for awesome but I tried someone else's rc.lua and still got it.

Please help me to solve error: Split mapping created no messages
Hi Experts,
I am facing Split mapping created no messages when i run my scenario.
My Scenario is : Proxy to FILE.
I am triggering Proxy and based on one condition i am generating different Flat Files.
Now when i do this i am getting error :Split mapping created no messages in SXI_MONITOR.
When i check this in Message Mapping by taking data from SXI_MONI its working fine...
but when i trigger the data from RUNTIME WORKBENCH its throughing the error.
When i remove the NameSpaces <ns0:message>
and <ns0:messages1> its working fine.
How can i solve this issue.
Even though i removed Namespace in Message Type, i am getting the error.
I changed occurance of Target message to O..unbounded both in Message Mapping and Interface Mapping.
Its working fine in Message Mapping, problem occurs only when i run end-to-end scenario.
So please help me to solve this issue.I think there might be mismatch between your name spaces.
may be this link might help you
Split mapping created no messages -Mluti Mapping
are you getting the same structure from your proxies whatever structure you have in your XI structure(sender) and NS should match.
but I dont have exp with proxies.

[SOLVED] Error while booting, related to nilfs2
I've just installed my fresh Arch and used nilfs2 inside vlm2 as my home partition. While booting, I'm getting these errors:
fsck: fsck.nilfs2: not found
fsck: error 2 while executing fsck.nilfs2 for /dev/mapper/TheVG-HomeLV
Other logical volumes are getting "clean" output while checked so it's not vlm-related; they are all ext4.
Partition is mounted and seems to work but I'm scared of just ignoring it and creating my user. ;-)
I have nilfs-utils installed. Is there any hook or module I need to add somewhere in order to use nilfs2 properly (like reiserfs hook)? There is nothing in the Wiki about this file system...
Edit: well, it appears that nilfs doesn't not come with check utility so I'm marking this as solved; sorry for garbage post...
Last edited by smsware (2013-03-16 22:07:55)As there is no fsck utility and as it actually is planned to be created (I read that it's needed because the fs can easily crash on power loss; still, it can be recreated, as you stated) - there is a warning while building the kernel. I deleted fsck hook to not see it as my /var and root are sub-volumes of btrfs partition which doesn't need fsck as well. I made a service to umount, fsck and mount back the /boot (ext4) and uefi partitions... just to let you know what you can expect. But it's great anyway, snapshots are really easy to mount and use. I thought it has no wiki page because it's not popular (and probably for a reason) but now I believe it's because there is nothing to write about... it just works. ;-)
