Trex search function in WebDynpro application

We fail to run trex search function in a webdynpro application,
in debugging, when it reach the method:
search.seach(), we caught NullPointerException(instance "search" is not null!), we draw out the trex search code from the wd app, found it could works well, no exceptions occur.
so do you know any additional configuration must be done before the search function could be used in a wd app?
e.g. specify name server address in j2ee engine adm gui?
I want to try this too, but I could not start the "Trex Service" in adm gui,
following exception message got:

don't know what happened to this service

Problem, he had a trexjavaclient.properties below his WebAS path. From WebAS630 TREX config has to be done inside Visual Administrator and not with any old (in this case wrong) trexjavaclient.properties.
After removing this file. TREX service started normally.

How to implement the documentation help function for webdynpro application

We have implemented SAP Travelmanagement ESS services which uses ABAP Webdynpro. In each of the screen there is a "help" link on the top right corner. I would like to know how to use this function to link a help file that explains what needs to be done on each screen.
My requirement is to provide screen specific help information as a document for each of the screen in my webdynpro application.
Any suggestions, options, samples from the experts would be most appreciated.

Hi Vivek,
seems to be your WDA are built by FPM, thats how by default you will be getting help link in top corner.
when you click on help link it has to display the help related data.
for this sap calls the standard wdc: WDHC_COMPONENT and the view:WDHC_APPL_HELP in this view you will see the element as: TEXT to fill some text which is your help data.
there might be some way to fill this TEXT (text view) try this.
or else i will check and upate you soon.

Save and Cancel Functionality in WebDynpro application with Adobe Forms

Hi,
I want to create an application with Adobe Interactive forms. This application will have 3 buttons: Save As Draft, Submit and Cancel.
This application also involves Workflow.
On Save As Draft, the form will be saved for later viewing. How can I achieve this functionality? Does UWL support Save As Draft feature.
On Submit, workflow is triggered and form is routed for approval.
On Cancel, the form is deleted from the system and cannot be retrieved. How can I get this functionality?
Issue: How to achieve Save As Draft and Cancel functionality?

Search function in Help not working in any application

The Search function is not working in any application's Help. Upon entering the terms I need help for I get a hang at "Searching..." but never any result. This problem started sometime in the last year or so. Prior to that the search function in Help worked fine. My network connectivity is excellent.
I recently reinstalled OS X 10.5 but I'm sure the problem existed before that and persisted after the reinstall.
The reinstall was due to upgrading to 10.7 and only then finding that I had lost needed functionality, but I don't think this has anything to do with the current problem. All other aspects of Help seem to be working fine
I don't find any reference to this problem anywhere so I'm hoping someone can help with my Help(!) problem. Thanks in advance.

Try running your Leopard install disk again, as well as the 10.5.8 combo updater. This might reinstall any 'missing bits'.
You can do this without deleting the hard drive, just install straight over your existing system, but close all applications and external devices first.

(.chm file generated by RoboHelp Word X 5) to my Visual C++
application. My application is able to call up this HTML help file

Hi agschin and welcome to the RH forums. The hhactivex.dll
file is not used by the search function so you can rule that our.
Have you tried recompiling and seeing if the problem still happens?
You can also start the Bug Hunter feature in RH - View > Output
View and then select the Bug Hunter button - and see if that throws
up any clues.

I am using default KM content management repository no external repository i have folders and sub folders and documents ( word, html, pdf, excel).I have enabled search button in tool area.
What are the prerequisites to search documents in Content management /documents folder
1. Do we need TREX is it must and mandatory for searching
Does enterprise portal provide basic/default search functionality without integrating TREX or external/third party search engines.

Webdynpro application not functioning from Apache Reverse Proxy

Hi Experts,
We are currently working on custom webdynpro application, which needs to be exposed to Internet. We are using Apache HTTP Server as a reverse proxy.
We canable to access URL, but no images are getting displayed and also the application not functioning when we click any button/links.
Below is the HTTPD file configuration.
ProxyPass /esampleApp http://hostname:port/webdynpro/dispatcher/local/esampUI/ESamplingApp
ProxyPassReverse /esampleApp http://hostname:port/webdynpro/dispatcher/local/esampUI/ESamplingApp
When we look into image URL, which is being called from Apache, we found out "webdynpro" is missing in the URL.
Actual URL in Portal Server: (working)

We also had the same issue, but the problem was that instead of http https was getting called.
This has to do with 2 settings:
1. Check the reverse proxy re-write URL's again. Note that there will be 2-3 entries one for webdynpro as well.
2. Open your system definintion in system admin-sys configuration adn check the WAS settings. this should point to the FQDN of the proxy server and not to the R3 server.

I want to use the Search-Function but we don't have a TREX server. Can I nevertheless use it? Which iView can I take? And which settings do I need?

Galyna,
No unfortunately you cannot - TREX is required for search functionality and as such there is nothing else built into Portal/CM that will do the same thing.
I would guess it is not worth your effort trying to do your own thing !!!!

Does Search Functionality work in SAP without having TREX

Hi,
Can we have Search functionality in SAP Netweaver without having TREX installed in the landscape because we are facing some problem installing TREX in Customers' landscape. They are having Windows Server 2008 R2 based on IA64 bit archtecture as OS. Although SAP is proving Trex in Service Marketplace for IAA32 bit machine, but they are not providing any Software packages for IA64 bit. Is there any other alternatives we have to get the search service in SAP.
Our ECC is in EHP5 environment.

Hi Soumen,
If you are using e-Rec or Talent Management then you need TREX for searches. STVN SuccessionPlanning uses Talent Management searches, so indirectly it also needs TREX.

Palm Desktop v. 6.2.2 - Media and Search functions stall application

I have a T3 - That I LOVE and STILL USE - BUT recently purchased a Centro - so had to download and install new Desktop software for it - v.6.2.2. I'm running WIndows XP.
The Media function or tab stalls the desktop - I could almost live with that as I don't have anything really in there- BUT I use the search function ALL the time - and just found out it stalls the app. as well.
I REALLY would rather not install and un-install - I was thinking - maybe there was a bug fix I don't know about or a fix for it or something
I assume if I HAVE TO uninstall I could sync my handheld (Yes as well as backing up the data) - and then uninstall and resync from Handheld - although not sure how to do this without messing anything up - BUT would rather find out if this is a fixable problem without going through all of that.
Any ideas? Suggestions?

I use the Tungsten E2 & had upgraded to 6.2 (Access) OS. I had all filed backed up to another folder on the PD. I lost the DATE, ADDRESS, MEMOS & TO DO categories on the Palm Desktop. I tried to re-install 6.2 (the categories were still lost); I uninstalled 6.2 & installed 4.1 (but could not import files from my backed-up files).
The solution was to uninstall 4.1 (I used Windows uninstall) & to re-install 6.2. The missing categories were still missing. Right click on the Palm Desktop shortcut, click on Properties, click on Compatibility, put a check mark in the Administrator Box, click on Apply & click on OK. The missing categories returned including the data that was in them.

Print functionality using PDF form in a webdynpro application

Currently, we have a webdynpro application and we need to provide the print feature to print the content of the iview display on IE browser. We try the File-> print feature provide by Microsoft through IE but this doesn't work. We are looking for any other option like print to pdf form. We don't know if it is possible. Is there any tutorial, help or anything that can help us to print to pdf form. Please share any other suggestion, comment and it will be much appreciated. Thank you very much.

Hi,
The content (which is a pdf content) can be exported as a PDF from a WD Application. For this you can use File Download control whose source is in the form of bytes (which is PDF content).
Do you have the PDF content already generated?
If so it is very easy to generate PDF from WD.

          1.Create binding to view to Controller.
          2.Create table->Add column->Add table cell Editor(select LinkToAction UI Element in options).
          3. Bind the property <i>text ->sales order number</i> (Output/<model node>)
          4. Create an Event <salesOrder>
                                   // do null check
                                   // set your input parameters
                                   // input sales order number = current output sales order number
                                   // enjoy="x"
                                   // call controller's method() that executes RFC
          5. Bind this event    LinkToAction property action-> <salesOrder>
To execute RFC, the code is available in sample tutorials.

I have one WebDynpro Application which has the functionality of search Using KM Index Management API's.
This performs the search in portal using TREX.
My requirement is to use this functionality in sharepoint portal(Microsoft Product).
From this sharepoint portal they want to use this search application to search in portal.
Now my choice is to convert this WebDynpro application into webservice so that , share point server guys can call webservice to use that search application.
How can I Convert my webdynpro application into webservice?
Any other ideas?
