Trying to build Mplayer with enable-aa
My son wants to watch video in ascii mode, but the arch version of mplayer is compiled without support for aalib. I've tried to make my own version
using the current pkgbuild and changing "--disable-aa" to "--enable-aa", but after a while of compiling, the build aborts with the following:

[solved] can't find/build mplayer with vdpau codec support
I want to install an mplayer that will handle vdpau.
I installed the standard mplayer version but that didn't have it.
Following some advice in another thread I rebuilt the standard mplayer with yaourt.
When I do 'mplayer -vo help' it shows a vdpau driver on the list. But when I do 'mplayer -vc help' there are no vdpau codecs listed.
I tried the same thing with mplayer-svn but get the same results.
I even tried compiling mplayer manually but get the same results.
What am I doing wrong?
TIA, gabu
(I have just moved to Archlinux64 after 3 years with Gentoo, so my Gentoo experience might be getting in the way)

I manually compiled using the svn source that I currently use on my Gentoo system and get the same odd results, whereas on Gentoo it compiles as you expect. This would seem to indicate that there is something about the Arch environment which is causing the problem rather than purely the source code.
I tried installing mplayer-vdpau-nogui but have the same problem there. -
Build failure when trying to build haproxy with SSL support.
Hello everybody,
I don't know if this is the right "context" to submit this question.
How ever I'm having problem with building haproxy 1.5.5 with SSL support.
I'm running SLES 11 SP3 with the latest updates via YAST2.
Building without SSL support works fine.
I use the syntax:

I'm I missing some libs or sources from OpenSSL ?
And/or need to point them out so that make/gcc can find them?
I have copy haproxy from another machine where I did the build process on.
But I would like to be able to build it on my SLES 11 SP3 installation.
Thank you in advance.Originally Posted by smflood

So you're trying to build HAProxy 1.5.5 from source?
Do you have libopenssl and libopenssl-devel installed? What does "rpm
-qa | grep ssl" report?
You might have better luck installing HAProxy 1.5.5 already built for
SLES11 SP3 via the openSUSE Build Service @
https://build.opensuse.org/package/s...ackage=haproxy

Hello Simon,
Yes I'm trying to build it from source.
Unfortunately I don't have them installed.
Here is the output:
sudo -i rpm -qa | grep -i ssl
openssl-0.9.8j-0.62.1
libopenssl0_9_8-0.9.8j-0.62.1
libopenssl0_9_8-32bit-0.9.8j-0.62.1

Thank you for your speedy reply. -
Attempting to build mplayer with external (shared) ffmpeg libraries.
Theoretically it is possible - the Gentoo guys have done in their e-build (USE flag external-ffmpeg).
However, when I do it I get multiple build errors about undefined references.
I use mplayer svn 29438 and ffmpeg 0.5 (and svn 19564).
The necessary additions to a normal mplayer build are:
depends=('ffmpeg>=0.5')
--enable-rpath \
--enable-dynamic-plugins \
--disable-libavutil_a \
--disable-libavcodec_a \
--disable-libavformat_a \
--disable-libpostproc_a \
--disable-libswscale_a \
--enable-libavutil_so \
--enable-libavcodec_so \
--enable-libavformat_so \
--enable-libpostproc_so \
--enable-libswscale_so \
Any help-insight why it does not build?
PS: Does ffmpeg has to be built with:
--disable-stripping

I don't use --enable-path, don't --enable-vdpau, don't explicitly try to link to the FFmpeg shared objects. I really don't --enable anything. In fact, I try to disable as much as Mplayer as possible to avoid it using it's own internal libraries. This is my configure line, with the exception that I added the dynamic-plugins bit just to see if it works. And yes, even VDPAU is working great here:
./configure --prefix=/usr --confdir=/etc/mplayer \
--disable-gui \
--disable-faad \
--disable-faad-internal \
--disable-runtime-cpudetection \
--enable-dynamic-plugins \
--disable-faac \

--disable-dvb \
--disable-dvbhead \
--disable-libvorbis \
--disable-musepack \
--disable-directfb \
--disable-nas \
--disable-liba52 \
--disable-libavutil_a \
--disable-libavcodec_a \
--disable-libavformat_a \
--disable-libswscale_a \
--disable-libpostproc_a \

My advice to you is to let Mplayer link to whatever it finds and if there's some functionality it didn't pick up on, then try the --enable switch. -
Requesting some changes for xen PKGBUILD to work with --enable-ovmf
For background about this issue, you may want to read these two E-Mails to edk2 Mailing List:
http://sourceforge.net/p/edk2/mailman/e … sg32776907
http://sourceforge.net/p/edk2/mailman/e … sg32793684
Basically, it goes like this:
- Xen can be compiled with the optional --enable-ovmf option, so it can make DomU VMs using UEFI Firmware. Instructions here:
http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/OVMF
This can be done in Arch Linux by adding in the ./configure line of PKGBUILD --enable-ovmf, adding an additional step where makepkg downloads Source Code from edk2 repository.
- Currently, it fails to build that way with this error:
http://lists.xen.org/archives/html/xen- … 02855.html
This error is caused because the edk2 Source Code that xen pulls during build is fresh and doesn't include any patch to make it aware that Arch Linux has both Python 3 (python) and Python 2 (python2). By default, it tries to compile with Python 3, so it fails.
- Assuming than the Python version issue was fixed (I did it in a non-elegant way, replacing /usr/bin/python with /usr/bin/python2), it will still fail with this error:
https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/40277
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/ovmf-svn/ (Some of the latest comments)
This error is caused by building with GCC 4.9, earlier versions seems unaffected.
The AUR has also a very similar package (If not identical) that is based on edk2 Source Code, the same which xen downloads while building, ovmf-svn:
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/ovmf-svn/
This one has a PKGBUILD which includes some lines that seem to point that it is aware of both the python version issue, and the GCC 4.9 build issue, by providing a patch:
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/ov/ovmf-svn/PKGBUILD
Reelevant lines seems to be these ones:
msg "Fix GenFw: ERROR 3000: Invalid, Unsupported section alignment"
patch -Np1 -i "${srcdir}/edk2-basetools-add-gcc4.9-support.patch" || true
patch -Np1 -i "${srcdir}/edk2-ovmfpkg-add-gcc4.9-support.patch" || true
msg "Use python2 for UDK BaseTools"
sed 's|python |python2 |g' -i "${EDK_TOOLS_PATH}/BinWrappers/PosixLike"/* || true
sed 's|python |python2 |g' -i "${EDK_TOOLS_PATH}/Tests/GNUmakefile"
I didn't found any info regarding if Xen can work with OVMF ready-to-use binaries, or either building ovmf-svn, which I didn't tested but I suppose should build properly. All instructions regarding using Xen with OVMF request that it is added as option during build time. This forces me to have to modify the edk2 Source Code that xen downloads.
Basically, what I want to request is if xen PKGBUILD can be modified to include a statement that checks if --enable-ovmf is being used, then make the appropriate changes to the edk2 Source Code that gets downloaded while building Xen so it successfully builds. This could *POSSIBILY* be based on existing ovmf-svn PKGBUILD code.
This change could also be applied to other xen-based packages that can also be builded with --enable-ovmf and presents the same issues.FINALLY managed to get this thing working:
http://i.imgur.com/ZWTRcn0.png
I tried to build xen with --with-system-ovmf= as suggested like ten times or so, with no success. While xen seemed to build fine, when I tried to create a UEFI DomU, it simply opens and inmediately closes, through if using SeaBIOS worked fine. On xen IRC there was another Arch Linux user claiming that he recently got Xen with OVMF working using that parameter and the bios.bin binary from the ovmf-bin package from AUR. Installing ovmf-bin then providing xen the full path (--with-system-ovmf=/usr/share/ovmf/bios.bin) didn't worked, neither building ovmf-svn myself then using ovmf_x64.bin (Or renaming it to OVMF.fd, ovmf.bin, etc). It always builded perfectly, yet it failed to make a UEFI DomU. Still, both Firmwares worked when using qemu from the official Arch Linux repository (Note that ovmf-bin bios.bin is 1 MiB in size while ovmf-svn ovmf_x64.bin is 2 MiB, not sure what accounts for the difference).
So how I got it working? A bit complex:
- While in my first post I mention that ovmf-svn had a patch for GCC 4.9, it seems than the patch was removed in the last two days. Without the patch, ovmf-svn still builded properly, so I expected than the GCC 4.9 fix got included in edk2 Source Repository. This was blocking me earlier, so decided to give --enable-ovmf another go.
- Renamed python2 to python as a workaround to not have to touch the edk2 tree that xen downloads, which worked the last time.
- Used makepkg with --enable-ovmf in the PKGBUILD ./configure line. I expected it to work due what I mentioned earlier, but it still fails with the GCC 4.9's GenFw: ERROR 3000.
- As a last resort measure, I decided to try to merge into xen the source that ovmf-svn PKGBUILD modifies, as that one builds properly.
- I replaced all the directories inside xen/src/xen-4.4.1/tools/firmware/ovmf-dir-remote/ with the ones from ovmf-svn/src/tianocore-edk2-svn_build/. Not all directories were replaced, seems than ovmf-svn just downloads the parts of the tree required for building the OVMF Firmware, not everything, which xen does.
- Used makepkg again, which used the existing source to try to build again.
- It builded, no python or GenFw error. Installed the new package, rebooted, tried to make the UEFI DomU and BAM! There it is, as you can see in the Screenshot.
Why can some users get this running with just providing bios.bin from ovmf-bin while I have to do a walk around the globe is anyone guess...
To not derail this request further, I can say the following:
- Assuming than --with-system-ovmf= works consistently, which for me didn't, is currently possible to build Xen with OVMF, so making a more complex PKGBUILD to be able to use --enable-ovmf may not be needed.
- --enable-ovmf is still useful because it may reduce a two-step process (Installing ovmf-bin or building ovmf-svn) into one, through I'm not sure if there are pros/cons for each approach besides than you will have latest OVMF version compared to the ready-to-use binary. It also makes xen package more compatible with the mainstream Xen instructions, as --with-system-ovmf= is quite unknow.
These decisions are for kantras to make.

Please help me with this issue, i use gcc-3.3.2 and used both GNU make and the "make" shipped with solaris, both gave the same result.
I installed Mysql as a pkg and didn't compile it from source.
Thanks in advance."ld: warning: file /opt/mysql/mysql/lib/libmysqlclient.a(libmysql.o): wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64Usually this kind of error is an indication that both 32- and 64-bit object files are being used in building the application. If building from scratch is not mandatory for you, you can try installing postfix {and other applications, libraries, ..} with the help of Blastwave's 'pkg-get'. Some instrustions are at: http://technopark02.blogspot.com/2005/06/solaris-installing-appspackages-with.html

A problem happened when building dimensions with Rule File
Hi All,
I was trying to build dimensions with the rule file. But it showed the error 1030100, which means "cannot open file".
I can load data with a data source (.txt). Thus, I assumed that it's a problem to open a rule file.
I don't think it's the problem about the rule files I wrote since I cannot even build dimensions with rule files in the Sample/Basic database.
Anyone knows how to solve the problem? Thanks for the help.
Best Regards,

Hi Prebhas,

Unexpected Essbase error 1030100

p.s. Even I re-install my system is English, the word "Client" is shown in Chinese. Is it possible this is the reason? If so, how I change the folder?
After I saw this message, I checked the folder and there is no such file. I tried to created one, but it disappear after I tried to build dimensions.

E:\Hyperion\products\Essbase\eas\Client\dataload.err
This path is referred to error message .... it will show the errors in that file...
and one more thing...
while adding data source to rule file it will ask you provide a path for the error message...there you can see this path...
Just check dataload.err file after running the rule file...
have you associated the out line to the rule file ???
is that rule file validate fine?
if not associate it and try...

PROBLEM BUILDING CDC WITH RED HAT 9.0
HI, i'm trying to build CDC with the following command:
make CVM_JAVABIN=/usr/java/jdk1.3/bin CVM_GNU_TOOLS_PATH=/usr/bin CVM_DEBUG=true
It start to make some new direcotries, but later the following error occurs:

Do you know what can i do? I'm using jdse1.3.1 and red hat linux 9.0.Thanks very much.Hi,
I ran into the same problem with RH 9.0. To fix this problem you have two options:
1. Use jdk 1.4.x - if you use this jdk to perform the compile, you'll won't receive this error.
2. Modify your make file that performs the javac and make the following change: javac -encoding "ISO-8859-1"
Both of those approaches should get rid of that error.
Hope this helps?
Cheers,

Mplayer - can't build package with ABS
Hi,
I'm new to Arch and its Building System, so maybe this problem isn't a problem for you, but I can't find a solution...
I wanted to install mplayer, but pacman wants to install the GTK1 package, which I will never use because I don't run software using GTK1.
So I decided to build the package on my own, it worked fine for me on Debian, but in Arch I can't compile it.
Here is my PKGBUILD, I removed the dependency (gtk) and the theme-package (blue), removed the gui configure option and the v4l options:

Hi,
I have downloaded the repository source (1.4) for nexus-4. Trying to build the source after deleting .repo folder.
If I delete that folder it is not building at all.
please suggest me to handle this scenario. due to space issue I have removed the .repo folder.
Thanks in advance.Homebrew helps as well : [http://wilsonpage.co.uk/installing-firefoxos-nexus4/]
Current instructions for nexus 4 [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2513228]
I am not entirely sure, however there is instructions for the nexua7 [https://wiki.mozilla.org/B2G/Nexus7]
Added later: [http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/december-29-firefoxos-nexus-4-1-1-1-4-t2388237] though as a fair warning, this is a very buggy build and I would not want you to brick your phone as it is an expensive phone. -
Vlc-0.8.6a with --enable-mozilla
I have been trying to get vlc build the mozilla-plugin by adding --enable-mozilla to the PKGBUILD, but it won't work. The current vlc-0.8.5 has disabled the mozilla build due to build problems.
I wonder if anybody has succeeded in building the latest vlc-0.8.6a with --enable-mozilla? As I understand there is also a dependency to use faad2-cvs and optionally goom, but personally I don't need goom. Would just be nice to replace mplayer-plugin with vlc in firefox, as there are some .vmx, .vma sites that won't work with mplayer.
For the time being I must uninstall mplayer-plugin and then click on 'open with external application' and choose vlc, as mplayer-plugin overrides any other application and insists on handling it by itself and fails.
So, it would be nice to get vlc to override mplayer-plugin if they cannot get along side by side
linfanThank you very much I got the package built and installed and it works as expected.
I had to do three things, though, to get it to build, which you did not inform:
1) cp over /var/abs/extra/multimedia/vlc/vlc.desktop
2) cp over /var/abs/extra/multimedia/vlc/vlc.install
to the PKGBUILD directory
and
3) uninstall seamonkey.
From my earlier contacts with videolan I was told I later can reinstall seamonkey, but that I have to uninstall it when running 'makepkg'.
Thanks once again.

Hi all
I'm trying to build HTMLDOC as part of my larger attempt to install FOG which is a free ghost clone. I'm running into a make error 1 presumably related to the png configuration. But if it is the png conf, I'm not sure how to pinpoint what part is causing the error. Your help is kindly appreciated.

* calculations. Making this an extremely small size will slow
* the library down, but you may want to experiment to determine
* where it becomes significant, if you are concerned with memory
* usage. Note that zlib allocates at least 32Kb also. For readers,

* Unless this gets smaller than the size of a row (compressed),
* it should not make much difference how big this is.

/* Special munging to support doing things the 'cygwin' way:
* 'Normal' png-on-win32 defines/defaults:
* PNG_BUILD_DLL -- building dll
* PNG_USE_DLL -- building an application, linking to dll
* (no define) -- building static library, or building an
* application and linking to the static lib
* 'Cygwin' defines/defaults:
* PNG_BUILD_DLL -- (ignored) building the dll
* (no define) -- (ignored) building an application, linking to the dll
* PNG_STATIC -- (ignored) building the static lib, or building an
* application that links to the static lib.
* ALL_STATIC -- (ignored) building various static libs, or building an
* application that links to the static libs.
* Thus,
* a cygwin user should define either PNG_BUILD_DLL or PNG_STATIC, and
* this bit of #ifdefs will define the 'correct' config variables based on
* that. If a cygwin user *wants* to define 'PNG_USE_DLL' that's okay, but
* unnecessary.
* Also, the precedence order is:
* ALL_STATIC (since we can't #undef something outside our namespace)
* PNG_BUILD_DLL
* PNG_STATIC
* (nothing) == PNG_USE_DLL
* CYGWIN (2002-01-20): The preceding is now obsolete. With the advent
* of auto-import in binutils, we no longer need to worry about
* __declspec(dllexport) / __declspec(dllimport) and friends. Therefore,
* we don't need to worry about PNG_STATIC or ALL_STATIC when it comes
* to __declspec() stuff. However, we DO need to worry about
* PNG_BUILD_DLL and PNG_STATIC because those change some defaults
* such as CONSOLE_IO and whether GLOBAL_ARRAYS are allowed.

Second, when you do your make, there is no reason to run it as root (until you do the make install) For the initial build, it is much safer to not use root; plus all the files in your home directory will continue to belong to use, not to root.
But, try the AUR. -
Connection Error when trying to Video Chat with a PC
I recently purchase my first Mac, a 13 inch 2.0 GHz Macbook. I have been having problems with iChat. I couldn't even get it to work in the beginning. I am using my AIM account, I do not have a .Mac account. I called Applecare and they did not help me. Finally I changed the server settings port from 5190 to 443 and it let me connect. Before that it would just say "unexpectedly lost connection".
So anyway, I have iChat version 3.1.8 and I am trying to video chat with friends on PCs. I have not been successful. I realize there are so many other discussions like this one and I feel like I have tried everything. If I invite someone to a video chat it says "declined invitation", even though they accept, and if they invite me it says "connection error". I have tried with friends on AIM 5.9 and 6.1.
I have changed the Bandwidth settings to None. I have made the Quicktime streaming speed 1.5 Mbps T1/Intranet/Lan. I know there has been other advice about routers and allowing ports but I'm not really sure what all of that means. I think I've tried everything. Also, I connected with the appleutest on AIM and the video chat was successful. So it's obviously just with the PC users. I have been able to connect once or twice but then I'll try a little later and it won't work anymore. Sorry this is so long. I'd appreciate if anyone can help me. Thank you! Here is one of the error logs...

Again, when I invite my friend to a one-way video chat it says "Declined invitation", when they invite me it says "Failed to Start Video Chat" because I did not respond, even though I hit accept. Should I change the MTU rate back to 1500? Should I enable the SPI again? Any other ideas. Here is an updated error log. This is with someone who is on AIM 6.1.

Error while building sln with CMake
I am working on kinect for developing application. I am using CMake and visual studio 2010 for development. According to some website I recently installed Service Pack 1 and it's update also. Since then there are loads of error in visual studio cpp programs.
I'm not able to build projects with CMake. It says c and CXX compiler identification is unknown.
I am not able to run simple cpp programs too. Log says
