Turn off the audio delay?

My question is pretty straightforward and simple.
Is there any way that I can turn off the ~2 seconds audio delay from the AirPort Express audio output?
Thanks!

Not really.
iTunes uses a QuickTime CODEC to convert audio files to Apple Lossless, and then, uses AirTunes to send them to the AX. In turn, the AX uses built-in software that converts the Apple Lossless to an Encoded Digital Audio format. From there, digital audio is sent to a optical transceiver to convert the electrical signal to an optical one before sending it to the innermost part of the audio port. For analog, the AX has a built-in DAC to convert the Encoded Digital Audio to Analog which is sent to the same audio port.
One operational glitch is the fact that, as the AX doesn't have a local clock circuit, when the incoming data is interrupted, as it is when you change songs in iTunes, there is no longer a digital output to feed the DAC, which loses lock as a result. This is typically "heard" as the delay you are experiencing.

  • How do I turn off the Audio included in "Epic Drama" so I can hear my own soundtrack?

    I have used "Epic Drama" to create a Movie but I am unable to turn off the audio included with it so I can hear my own soundtrack. I have clicked on the little speaker symbol within the frame and a line goes through it but the sound s NOT muted. Any ideas please?
    Thanks

    Ok, well to begin with when you unpin a music track it goes from 'floating' to 'pinned' - floating is the opposite of pinned (if something is not pinned down it is floating), so obviously you cannot unpin something from the floating box because it is already unpinned.
    But you are on the right track - just wrong screen.  After you have unpinned go back to you main movie editing screen - you will have noticed the purple box around the outside of your movie in the timeline has now turned green.  This green box is the sound track you want to delete.  This should now be easy - just click once on the green box to select it (it may look like you have selected the entire project but you haven't and then hit the 'delete' button on your keyboard and you are done.

  • Is there any way to turn off the shutter delay?

    My phone is my camera and pictures are very important to me. My boyfriend convinced me to try a Blackberry when I switched over to Sprint from Verizon. I love the phone, but this shutter delay kills me. Seriously, I die a little inside every time I try to take a picture. I'm perfectly capable of keeping my hand steady. The option to turn off the shutter delay does not exist in my phone. Is there an app or a download I can find to turn off the delay all together and keep my flash? Or maybe another board or group I should be complaining to? I appreciate any help or comments. Thank you!
    I have a BB 9670 if that means anything.

    hello,
    the delay is not due to the shutter. It is due to the autofocus. The tip given by Xaviers67 is to prepare the device, activate the autofocus first, and when you're ready to take the shot, clic as fast as lightning.
    I suggest you to simply deactivate the Autofocus feature in the camera options.

    There really should be some global mute function (same for animation looping as well).
    If you make the desired changes in the theme as you start your project, you might be able to cut down on some of the repetitive tasks.
    This info from Help might allow you to do as you wish.
    _Saving a customized theme as a favorite_
    You can save a theme you have made changes to as a favorite so that you can use it for future projects.
    When you save a customized theme as a favorite, the new theme includes any changes you made to button styles, button labels (typeface, font size, color, and so on), and menu backgrounds; additions to drop zones; and background audio added to the menu.
    You can access your custom themes by selecting Favorites from the theme pop-up menu at the top of the Themes pane.
    To save a custom theme:
    Open the project that uses the theme you have customized.
    Choose File > “Save Theme as Favorite” and type a name for the theme.
    Select the “Shared for all users” checkbox if you want other users of your computer to be able to use your theme.
    Select the “Replace existing” checkbox if you want your theme to overwrite the existing theme you based your custom theme on.
    The original theme will no longer be available.
    Click OK.
    When you save a favorite theme, iDVD creates copies of any images, audio files, or video files you used in the theme. This way, if you move or delete any of these files, iDVD will always be able to access them so the favorite theme is still usable.

  • How can I turn off the sound from the original midi  or audio tracks when I turned on the duplicate tracks for editing ?

    How can I turn off the sound from the original midi or audio tracks when I edit or listen to the duplicate tracks in Logic Pro 9 ?
    I'm using iMac desktop with Mac OS X Version 10.7.3. Pls advise.

    Dan,
    It sounds like one of your preferences has changed.
    Go to preferences > audio > general, and make sure "track mute/solo" is set to "CPU saving (slow response)". It is probably set to "Fast " at the moment.
    This setting (fast) basically causes immediate muting from the channel strip while your song is in play. This is because the audio is still being read from the hard drive, but the channel strip is simply muted.... like a hardware mixer. When set to "CPU saving", the audio from that track, when muted, is actually stopped from streaming from the hard drive, but there is a couple second delay before the audio is actually muted.
    One would think that the fast setting is generally preferable, except when you need to do what you are doing. The only way to keep duplicate copies of channel strips acting independent of one another is to leave this setting on the "CPU saving" setting.
    Hope that helps

    I am using earphones, but the external audio of my mini ipad is still on. How can I turn off the external audio while listening with my headset/earphones?

    Other than iMovie, GB always incorporates the audio files into the GB package. So just save or move the GB project to the external drive, and you're done - anything you import, edit or record will be saved to the external drive.

  • Streaming audio data won't stop unless I turn off the phone for 5 minutes.

    So, to stop the streaming server from communicating with the Blackberry handset, you must either turn it off or disable mobile network for at least 5 minutes.
    It appears that the handset continues to transfer data (and therefore incur charges, if the user does not have an unlimited data plan) if the handset is not turned off or mobile network disabled for at least five minutes. It also runs down the battery much faster because the radio transmitter is actively being used, even if the user is not listening to the stream.
    The Blackberry network has intervening servers that continue to receive data from the streaming server even if the handset is off. This behavior likely has utility to deal with the realities of the cellphone network, to allow the stream to be transferred from one cell to another, and deal with the possibility that the handset may be out of range for up to 5 minutes without "interruption." However, it is hard to turn off the stream.
    QUESTIONS:
    1. Is there a way to stop this sort of behavior using a configuration setting or something? It seems particularly stupid to start a new stream connection each time a STOP/START cycle is completed, allowing the old connections to continue streaming data (even if the data does not make it to the handset).
    2. IS IT TRUE that the user will be "charged" for the data streams that are not disconnected?
    3. Is there a way for a developer to send a signal to the intervening cellphone network to discontinue the orphan streams?
    THANKS!!

    No, I'm using something like this :
    to start...
                       channel = new SoundChannel();
                                            soundPlay = new Sound();
                                            urlReq=new URLRequest;
                                            urlReq.url=mylUrl;  // url of radio mp3
                                            soundPlay.load(urlReq);
                       channel = soundPlay.play();
    to stop it...
                          channel.stop();
                          channel=null;
                          try{soundPlay.close();} catch (e:Error) {} // error or not, the sream won't stop.
    Any idea ? Did you try with a NetStream object ?

  • Where is the setting to turn off descriptive audio

  • When I drag a synchonised clip to timeline, can I turn off the video's audio track only without breaking apart clips?

    I have preparred many clips by synchonising them with audio recorded on H4N - and have these in keywords.
    When I drag them to the timeline, do I have to break apart each clip item to turn off the video's audio track or is there a shortcut to doing this?

    For each clip you can go to the audio portion of inspector and uncheck/disable the tracks you don't desire. That would take longer than Tom's method, but I think the audio won't show up as a blank later on.
