User deletion problem

Hi,
I have deleted some users using DA but the the names of these users are still shown in corporate address book when I search for them.
What is the solution for it?

1. Purge these deleted users permanently - users have a 'grace' period at which time they aren't deleted from the directory and if you want to purge permanently you have to configure this.
2. Modify the corporate address-book to only show 'active' users by modifying the search filter. An example of how to achieve this is here:

Two Related (?) file deleting problems in Finder and Time Machnine

My internal drive is partition into two volumes. In the second one (the "non-boot" one), I was have trouble putting files in the trash that were locked. As I was tracking that down I coincidentally(?) started having another problem.
I started getting a message that the files being put into the trash must be deleted immediately. I check permissions and I had read/write Privileges in the user account I'm normally logged into. However, If I logged into my administrator account, I could put things in the trash without deleting them. I noticed that ignore ownerships wasn't checked, so I checked that.
That allowed my to put files into the trash without immediately deleting them. I went ahead and deleted the files I wanted to get rid of. However, I'm wondering if there was another issue because I am lead to understand that the ownership privileges shouldn't have necessitated checking "ignore ownerships"?
Also, I had trouble deleting the backups of those files and folders in time machine. I can delete most of it. But for one folder (and all the folders in which it resides in the hierarchy) I can't deleted it. I tell it to delete backups of that folder (or folders it is in), I put in the password, and goes "ding". But nothing disappears...
(After I wrote this, I tried unchecking "ignore ownerships" and the problem did not reappear. I can still put files in the trash without the immediate deletion problem.)

Are you doing that via the Finder or Terminal? If so, that's not the way to delete backups. See #12 in [Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/FAQ.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum).
And now I'm getting an error in time machine. "Files can't be copied onto the backup disk because it appears to be "read only"". I do get info on the disk, and my account has Read & Write privleges, but it say "You can only read" above that".
The Finder or Terminal deletions may have corrupted your backups. Repair them, per #A5 in [Time Machine - Troubleshooting|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/Troubleshooting.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum).

I'm doing the deletion through Time Machine (I go into Time Machine, find the folder in the backup, and ask Time machine to delete all backups of that folder).
I did find the tip of unmounting the disk, rebooting, and remounting it. That Stopped messages about the disk being read only. However, the folder still doesn't delete. I'm also a bit worried about these being symptoms of some other problem...

Revoke order AD User Exchange problem

Hello,
Scenario:
USER1 has provisioned the following resources:
AD User
Exchange
When I try to delete the USER1 on OIM, the OIM revokes all the resources provisioned for that user.
Problem:
OIM is revoking the AD User resource first.
When it tries to revoke the Exchange, the task Delete Mailbox fails because the AD User related to the Mailbox has already been deleted from Active Directory.
Question:
Should I try to enforce the order in which the resources are revoked?
The Exchange should always be revoked before the AD User?
Will the 'Depends On' configuration on Resource Object do the trick for a revoke scenario?

It's hard to manage order of operations on revoke. I would suggest you create a task that is triggered on the revoke, and is marked as preceding to the main revoke. For this task, create a check that looks for the dependent object instance and check if the status is revoked. You can set the retry configurations for this task so that once completed, your regular revoke will continue.

Vertify that you have sufficient privileges to start system service....I hit retry and it came up again. I hit ignore and it prompted me to hit finish so Itunes can open. I looked thru alot of these posts on here to try and resolve this problem myself but it's not working too well...I downloaded Itunes to my desktop so I can right click it with the program i downloaded called WinRAR. I extracted it and then went into the folder called Itunes64setup. I saw the file called AppleMobileDeviceSupport64 in there so I began to try and download it on it's own. Well that didn't work as I planned and got this error message:
Apple Mobile Device Support wasn't installed on your computer. The installer encountered errors before Apple Mobile Device Support could be configured. Your system has not been modified. To retry these operations at a later time,please run the installer again.
Well I tried to run it again and came up with the same message...I see that some people got great support to help them so I am hoping someone can help me as well. I know "b nor" is very qualfied and hopefully can help me! Please advise what I can do. Thank you

ISight - connects with windows users no problem?

I'd like to buy this webcam, but I heard it has problems connecting with windows users. Will I be able to talk to people on it through AIM? Thats what I'd like, if not, I probably wont get it. Anyone have any personal experience or have any answers or helpful tips - I'd appreciate anything - thanks.

It is not the iSight itself that gives you the impression that connecting with Micros~1 Windows users causes problems ... it is the availability of (cross platform) applications that makes connecting a bit more cumbersome.
I have PowerMac G5 with iSight and I connect with my Micros~1 Windows platform family equiped with and without USB webcam.
The challenge will be to find messaging / VoiP applications with bearable audio quality and reasonable video performance.
I started with Skype for Voice and Yahoo! messenger for bad video ( 1-2 fps and video size 320 x 240).
Skype has a video plugin (only for Windows)
Yahoo! Messenger does not have voice yet (2.5.3)
MSN is badmouthing because of the "M"
I have used iChat with another Apple believer ... and the quality of Voice and Video is unparralled.
The best two alternatives I found are:
a) AIM 5.9
b) Trillian (www.trillian.cc)
Both use a free AIM screen name.
AIM works fine, see also EZJim pages.
TrillianPro 3.1 reuses AIM screen names ... and ... it has both good audio and zoom-to-full-screen-video size with fps rates filling your bandwidth.
The only negative on Trillian so far, the "handshake" for connecting two people takes some time.
TrillianBase is free but has no Video capabilities. The Pro version is 25$.

What do you mean by delete here?
If you select delete in your front end tool you are not physically deleting the record, instead you are marking the status to 'N' so that it wont be retrieved henceforth? is it what you meant?
And you have line_id relation between both the tables and I do not see any duplicates in line_id columns, hence you can use it to map parent and child relation and you can create referential integrity constraint over it.
But, you know the business and you have to decide in which way to go.

Question on LDAP integration & user deletion

In the "Administration Console Help" Document it states:
"You cannot invite user accounts that are mastered in an LDAP-based user directory; these accounts are created automatically when you synchronize the LDAP directory."
Does this mean that after configuring a LDAP Realm, the users specified by the filter should be automatically pulled into OnTrack? I do not see ldap users when executing a blank search from the admin console. At this point, I also cannot log into OnTrack using a valid LDAP user. I was trying to see if OnTrack worked similar to UCM where the OnTrack user acct would be created once the user logs into the application.
What I can do is go to "Create User" and enter the email address for a valid ldap user. then I see that user in the full search. that user can also log in successfully.
I wanted to know what the expected behavior was: is there expected to be a required 'registry' of ldap users into ontrack before they can auth into the app? Is there some sync process that needs to be run to pull in the ldap users?
Also, is there any current best practice of user deletion? I see in the admin console that there is a note that states: "Note: User deletion is not supported."

It sounds like you figured this out.
There is NOT an explicit sync of users from LDAP into On Track. The On Track user object is created when the LDAP user first logs in (or when added to a Conversation by another user). After that point, the user will be visible in the admin console. (Note, however, that from the client, you can search for an LDAP user and add them to a Conversation's membership even if that user has not yet logged in to On Track. It does this by searching for the user in the LDAP directory, as well as in On Track's known users. This is a great way to "invite" other people in the organization to participate in On Track.
As for your other questions:
- The recommended way to "delete" a user is to mark the user "Disabled" in On Track. This will prevent that user from logging in and from showing up as a valid user in the client.
- Once a user "[email protected]" exists, it should not be possible to create another "[email protected]" user, even if the first one is disabled, and regardless of which realm those users are in.

Ymail user deletes appointment sent by Outlook 2010 user

An Outlook 2010 user sent an appointment to about 20 individuals, some gmail, some ymail, some exchange users. The ymail user deleted the appointment from their calendar because
they could not attend, and the deletion removed the appointment from the originating user (Exchange/outlook 2010) calendar, and automatically sent cancellation notices to all of the other users.

Normally, the recipient will not delete appointment from the organizer's calendar.
Please make sure you use exchange version. If you use exchange 2010/2013, I recommend you use Get-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity the organizer's SMTP Address:\calendar | fl cmdlet to level permissions for a folder.
Besides, please check if the issue occurs when other users( such as gmail users or exchange users) delete appointment.

Is it possible to delete problem/solution from solution database? There is information in help that it is not possible to delete problem/solution, but that they can be archived.. But note 946030 says it is not available...

In version 4 it was released one note (730402) that allow us to delete some symptoms and solutions. However, this may lead into some inconsistencies if they're linked with documents. We've never tried to execute it.... but if this may help you, try it

My guess is, your third service object is not referenced.

User deletes Installed Application / Directory

Can anyone help me? I have browsed through earlier threads but could not find an answer to my question.
My question is "What if the user plays around with the client(deletes the installed directory or removes or moves a few or all files) that is transparently installed on his PC?"
All documents talk about changing of JARS at the server but what about user manipulating at his end(Client end).
Please help me ASAP.

You are right in saying that JWS does not install any applications and it only caches JAR's. But my question was WHAT IF the user deletes the JAR's. In that case what happens when the user clicks on the desktop icon(created earlier)? Will he get an error? Or will he have to realunch the application again from browser by calling the JNLP URL? or by clicking on the desktop icon, JWS seamlessly calls the JNLP, caches again and runs the applicaiton transparently to the user?
Please calrify.
