Viewing repeating frame data

Hi all
My reports has many enclosing frames. They show single record column data and column data inside repeating frames. One of the enclosing frame , say F1, has its "Print object on" property set to "First page" and "Vertical elasticity" to "expand". The enclosed repeating frame , say R1, inside F1 has its "Print object on" property set to "All pages" and "Vertical elasticity" to "expand".
There are 36 records in the database for the field inside the repeating frame R1, and there are also some column data shown in F1 above the repeating frame R1 : so the repeating frame R1 has to be shown last.
When I launch the report there are only 6 of the 36 records shown in the bottom of the page. Logically the 30 remaining records should appear in the next page. But the reports does not show the remaining data and it shows immediately data inside the next enclosing frame !
So how can I show the remaining 30 records in the next page ?
Thank you very much indeed.

I tried that but it did not work. If I used Print All Pages for main content frame it will just have 1 page output versus multiple pages as expected.
Two important points:
1) R1 (the repeating frame in M2) has Vertical Elasticity as Expand because it also contains more repeating frames under it. Problem could be solved if the R1 would have vertical elasticity as Fixed instead;
2) I also could have fixed this by having M2 (it contains a repeating frame with actual data) with Vertical Elasticity as Fixed instead of Expand. But once I do that, I get Report error M3 (frame that shows the summary at the last page) "has an illegal print condition"? Anyone know why this error occurs?

  • Repeating frame data run over the page number in the bottom of page

    Hi all,
I have an issue trying to have page number info shown on every page of report.
The report has an outer frame M1 that includes frame M2 (it contains a repeating frame with actual data), M3 (a frame that shows the summary and total info) and M4 (the frame that contains page number information.
    Settings are as follow:
Frame - Vertical - Horizontal - Print Obj On - Base Printing On
M1     Fixed          Fixed          First Page     Enclosing
M2     Expand          Fixed          First Page     Enclosing
M3     Fixed          Fixed          Last Page     Anchoring
M4     Fixed          Fixed           All Page     Enclosing
What happens now is that frames M3 and M4 both only shown on the last page. M3 has the right behavior but I expected M4 to show on every page. All these are on Main Section. I know I could have page info on Trailer section but I need to have everything on Main section because of some other logic I have.
    Any suggestions?

  • Repeating frame over flow into next page

I have a report, on the first page of which I have a repeating frame. On the second I have only different paras of text.
When ever the repeating frame on the first page, returns data more than it can fit on the first page, it is getting printed on the second page. But as a result the text of the second page is being pushed down.
It also creates a gap between the place where the repeating frame data ends and the text of the second page starts. How to avoid this gap.
What is the solution . Please share.

    Hi Nag,
    Thanx for your question.
    1. As you know its difficult to simulate the problem
through a sample report. I would like to know
which version of reports are you using?.
    2. I suggest to surround your second repeating frame and the last paragrphs with a normal variable frame.
I mean include the second repeating frame and the last group frame into a variable frame that spans over the two pages. then you should set the "print object on" to "first page" and to "enclosing object"
    for all parent frames.
    3. if it does not work .Try this one too: To avoid the gap use "Anchor", anchor the last paragraphs frame to the second repeating frame by minimizing the gap between them(See help online about anchoring).
    Hope this helps,

  • Reports - Data source for repeating frames

Does anybody know if there is an alternative way to pass data to repeating frames than queries or ref cursors?
For example can I use a PL/SQL table as source for a repeating frame?

YES!!!, change the PRINT condition of your
panel field to ALL instead of FIRST.

  • [SOLVED] Report Repeating Frame Will Not Print More Than One Page of Data

I have a layout which contains only 1 repeating frame, and is not contained in any other frames. The query that the group of this frame is based on returns 414 rows. The report is a character based report of 180x66. All of the fields in the repeating frame are all in a straight line on a single row.
No matter what I do, the report ends at the bottom of the first page. If I put the frame at row 30, only 36 rows are printed. If I put the frame on the first row, it stops at 66. No mater what I do, it will not continue on the next page.
Any ideas on what could be the problem here?
    Thanks,
    Kurz

Print condition was set to All. Changing it to First solved the problem.

Make sure the repeating frame is variable vertically and that all the frames that it encloses are variable.

  • HELP!  Need txt ouput, but issues with repeating frames...

In my data model, I have one main query, and three data linked queries. It IS a complex report, but I need to make it so that the user can output it to a delimited text file. I know how to do this, but when the report is printed, the rows are all mangled. If I PDF it, it's nice and pretty... one row per record. In my paper layout I have one parent repeating frame, which holds all columns, including 3 columns from the three data linked queries. Please help. Although I've written here before, I've never received a response, so I'm hoping this time will be different. Thanks.

I've read this document and that didn't solve my issue. I'm sure it has to be something others have done in building reports. A little more detail perhaps to help you help me:
    Queries: 4
Main to get list of all students
3 other for attendance details (excused, unexcused and lates)
    Paper Layout View:
    1st layer: Frame
2nd layer: Repeating frame that holds all student info +
3rd layer: 3 more repeating frames for the 3 data linked queries that tells me if a student has missed any days.
PDF works great as an output, but it's needed an a delimited export or spreadsheet, both of which scrambles my 3rd layer numbers on different rows. I'm stumped. Again, any help would be great here.

  • Is it possible to show the same repeating frame in 2 columns?

Hello, and thank you all in advance for any help!
    Here is the situation:
I have simple report with 1 repeating frame and 3 data columns in it.
I want to be able to have a second column on each page that continues the data from the repeating frame. That is to say, one the left the data would go from top to bottom like normal, then instead of going to page 2, it would go into a column to the right on the same page.
The repeating frame is small enough to fit at least 2 of them horizontally.
I cannot seem to find the way to make this layout work. Is it possible?
    Thanks again,
    -Arin

    Nevermind everyone!
I got it to work with Print Down/Across...silly me.
    Thanks anyway!

  • How to get the number of rows in a repeating frame ?

    Hi all,
When I launch a report from forms then sometimes there are data in the report and sometimes there are no data. And the problem is that when there are no data then the frame containing the repeating frame is still displaying and a blank page displays on the report.
So I want to get the number of rows from the repeating frame so that I can code a format trigger on the frame to display or not the enclosing frame depending on the existence of data from the repeating frame.
    Thank you very much indeed.

    Dear Friend,
You can achieve this. Define a summary column (say cnt). Select summary type as "COUNT". select any one of columns that are getting displayed in your repeating frame as summary column and provide "reset at" group name (or set this to report if you are defining this field at report level) . This "cnt" variable will contain how many records that will be fetched for your repeating frame (i.e. Group of Repeating frame). You can use this "CNT" variable in your format trigger.
In this case there is no need to write before report trigger or anything.

  • Please suggest problem in increasing height repeating frames

    Hi,
in my report normally up to 100 are printed. i setted the vertical elasticity as expand and horizontal as fixed.
but while priting, in vertical, it is contracting if date is too short enough and expanding when dat is large enough. But what my requirement i want to specify the height of each field in repeating frame fixed. i.e. 3 centimeters and it should be same for all records printed on page and on each logical page and i want to print maximum 8 records per page becoz my print page size can hold maximum 8 records and each record at 4 lines. And even if the data is short enough it must not be contracted, if data is one line, and the remaining space that is in 3 cemtimers should be left blank and it must to go to second record. That is in fixed heigt of record repeart frame i want to print the data. If data goes more than 3 centimetres then date must be truncated. I did not find any height to set this property in Repeating frame property.
    please suggest solution'
    thanks in advance
    prasanth a.s

    Hi Prasanth,
Enlarge the Repeating Frame height to say, 3 centimeters in the layout.
Set the Vertical (& Horizontal as well) Elasticity of the repeating Frame as Fixed.
In the Property Palette of Repeating Frame, set Maximum Records Per Page to 8 and Set Page Break after property to Yes.
    This will solve ur problems.

  • Repeating Frames

In my report, my query is a 184 column table. Select query is also a 184 column table.
There are Repeating frames in my layout editor, each contains 10 columns. From the 2nd repeating frame onwards, the page break before property is "Yes". Now if, for the 1st repeating frame there is data (10 columns only) Then the rest of the page is blank. All the page break before property is "Yes" How do I avoid these blank pages
    null

If you want a page break between records in the change of group mentioned, set the number of records per page property to 1 (it should currently be zero).
Remember that the page break after property is related to the anchoring object and is not immediately obvious what it is doing. Try setting it back to no.

    Hi,
the "page break" properties are only active in parent-child relationships. So if your frame1 is not expandable vertical, frame2 is no child object ob frame1 and so the property page break after of frame1 is not relevant for frame2. So change your layout, that frame2 is child of frame1 and frame3 is child of frame2, then the page break after will run as you expect. You can do this via the property vertical elasticity or via using an anchor between the frames.

  • Using a Separator in a Repeating Frame - Solved (Sort of...)

    Hi Folks,
I've got a report with a repeating frame going across it. I want to put a slash ('/') between the entries but NOT at the start or end so it looks like:
Acceptance Test/Before Use Test/After Use Test
Is this possible in Reports and, if so, how can I achieve it? There's nothing obvious about it on these forums or on MetaLink...
    Thanks,
    Simon.

    Hi ,
those entries are fields for repating frame right?
    ok then,
    2 ways to do this.
    1)
take bioler plate with text '/' for the required columns you want to seperated in the layout.
    2)
concatenate the columns with '/' in the query itself for the required clumns u want
    in the data model
    try with this.

  • How to put non-repeating field in a repeating frame?

I have a formula field that creates the header for a list in a repeating frame. I seem to be in a quandary though-if I include the field inside the repeating frame the header gets repeated. If I put it outside the frame I get an error 'Field references Column at a frequency below its group'. If I move the formula column to the parent query it works except in the case where the child query returns no rows-then I get the header with no data.
So, I either need a way to display the header inside the repeating frame, but only once, or I need a way to suppress the header when the child query returns no rows.

So, I either need a way to display the header inside the repeating frame, but only once, or I need a way to suppress the header when the child query returns no rows. You can try one idea. Keep the formula column in detail group and create one more summary column as serial number for the detail records so in repeating frame place that field (formula column) in repeating frame and use the PL/SQL code for that field as below...
    IF :serial_no = 1 THEN
      RETURN TRUE;
    ELSE
      RETURN FALSE;
END IF;Then it should display for the first record only.
