How do I preserve the embedded hyperlinks when printing to .pdf?
I am using Acrobat Pro XI for Mac, and when I export to .pdf the existing hyperlinks lose functionality.   I assume it’s just the flick of the right button – I just need help finding that button.
    Can you help?  Thanks!

  • Quicktime 7.6 won't open at when clicking on a file.

I have Windows XP with Quicktime 7.6. My Quicktime has worked on this computer just fine for ages. I just played a .mov file literally less than 2 hours ago. Then, ten minutes after it worked I tried a different movie by double-clicking the file and nothing happened. I tried a different movie, and then I tried the movie that worked originally today - nothing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled - nothing.
Just to clarify, when I say it does nothing, I mean I double-click the .mov file, I get the hour-glass for a second or two, and that's it. After about 5 minutes I'll finally get a "...encountered a problem and needs to close..." box. If I try to restart my computer during that 5 minutes, I get a "!!QTOCONTROLWINDOW!!" encountered a problem. Click 'End Now'... AAAHHHH!!!
I have found that if I double-click the Quicktime icon on my desktop, wait for a blank Quicktime window to open and THEN double-click the .mov file, it will open... and likewise if I double-click the Quicktime icon and browse for a .mov file it works, but I don't want to have to do that every time I want to watch a movie.
    Someone please help. Thanks!

You are using either the built-in Mozilla PDF Viewer or the built-in Chrome PDF VIewer and have a LiveCycle Designer XFA form being viewed.  You need to configure the web browser accordingly.
XFA-based PDF forms on Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome
There are are probably registry entries available for setting this up in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry hive for both Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome, but I don't know them and have not seen them posted on any vendor site.  Then again, I haven't looked either.

  • InDesign files automatically openning in Acrobat Pro 9.0

I just upgraded to CS3.3 Premium w/Acrobat Pro 9.0 from CS2 and now my ind files automatically open in Acrobat 9.0. Ind files all have the Acrobat 9.0 icon, which I went into properties > opens with to change (ie. program files > Adobe > InDesign CS3) and Windows will not accept the change. Actually when I click "ok" no error message appears, but 'opens with' still shows Acrobat Pro 9.0.
It gets wierder. If I go into properties and change 'opens with' to the IND short cut on my desktop, it changes, however when I attempt to open a ind file I get the error message 'file is not a valid Win32 program.'
I am running XP Media 2005 SP2, on an HP desktop, with an AMD 64 2.4 duo, 4 gigs RAM.
Any else have a similar issue?
    Thanks, Anton

    Anton,
I to had this problem just today and could not find any good help on file associations. I am running XP Pro on Windows. I uninstalled CS2 and still had CS3 on the computer. All associations for InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop went away. The only information I could find did not work.
This is what I did and it worked. I opened Control Panel, then File Options, and then the tab "File Types". I scrolled to the INDD extension and highlighted it. Then I chose the Advanced Tab, selected "new", typed in "Open" for the action and selected the InDesign.exe file. All Indd files associated with InDesign CS3.
I also repeated the same to get the AI and PSD files to associate.
I hope this is the right way to make the change, no guarantees, but so far it is working. Even CS and CS2 file versions show the CS3 logo and open correctly.

  • Problems with reading a pdf-file using Safari/Adobe Acrobat Pro

Using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.5.5. and Safari in Snow Leopard I open the pdf-file of  http://dare.uva.nl/document/505726 and small boxes appear in the text f.i. on page 70, 74, on the last page etc.
I don't know why those small boxes appear only on my MacBook Pro with the installed software and others don't read a corrupt text. If I click in den pdf-file on the right side of the mouse and choose "open with Adobe Acrobat Pro" the pdf-file opens correctly (without small boxes)!

As you discovered, Adobe Acrobat/Pro/Reader v.9 will crash for all managed user accounts that store their home folders on the server because it has "difficulty" reading and writing to a folder across a network, which is why it crashes shortly after it launches.
HOWEVER, there is hope. All you need to do is tell Adobe to write all of its files to the local drive rather than the home folder on the sharepoint, as follows:
While logged into your network-user account:
    1. Go to the "Shared" folder on the local drive. (Local HD > Users > Shared)
    2. Create a new folder named "9.0_x86" if you have an Intel or "9.0_ppc" if you have a PPC (without the quotes for either case). You will have to authenticate as an Administrator.
    3. Go to the Acrobat folder within the user's Application Support and delete the folder in it.
    (Home > Library > Application Support > Adobe > Acrobat > 9.0_x86 or 9.0_ppc)
    4. Open/launch the Terminal application found within the Utilities folder on you Mac.
    (Applications > Utilities > Terminal.app)
    5. In Terminal, enter the 1st command for Intel or the 2nd for PPC:
    ln -s /Users/Shared/9.0_x86 ~/Library/Application \Support/Adobe/Acrobat/9.0_x86
    OR
    ln -s /Users/Shared/9.0_ppc ~/Library/Application \Support/Adobe/Acrobat/9.0_ppc
Adobe Acrobat 9 should now work properly. You may get the "quit unexpectedly" error message the first time you quit the application, but should only happen the one time.
On a side note, the print spool is slow when printing very large multi-paged PDFs.
This is a fix I found in 2009 by Dennis, can't remember where though.

  • When trying to edit text and fonts in Acrobat Pro 11 I keep getting a message saying acrobat has encountered an unknown error?

I have just downloaded Acrobat Pro V 11.0.0 and tried to edit an existing PDF file. When I try to do this I receive a message that Acrobat has encountered an unknown error - what am I doing wrong?.

    Hi myarwema,
Are you using Acrobat on Mac OS or Windows (and what version?). You say you have version 11.0.0, but the current version is 11.0.10, so please choose Help > Check for Updates and install any available updates for starters.
Does the error occur regardless of the PDF that you try to edit? If the problem is widespread, I would recommend a repair/reinstall of Acrobat (if installing the updates doesn't help). If the problem occurs with just the one document, that PDF could be damaged.
    Best,
    Sara

  • Grab auto-save file type locked by Acrobat Pro?

I have tried using the posted command line in Terminal on both my iBook and G4 (both running 10.3.9) to get Grab to go back to saving screen shots as .jpg's, but it does not work. Ever since installing Adobe Acrobat Pro 6.0.0 both machines are saving screen shots only as .pdf's. In addition (and I have looked through all the AAPro preferences to see if there is something to 'turn off' - there isn't), AAPro has inserted toolboxes into all Office programs and I cannot get this to stop either. I've tried moving AAPro out of the applications folder, but this has had no impact. Any suggestions on a workaround?

Aha! Thanks. "PDFMaker Lib" was the file inside the Office folder. If that does not fix it I will search deeper into the folders for the culprit.
Still cannot switch Grab back to saving as .jpg vs. .pdf, using that command line in Terminal. Any suggestions on that issue? Do you suspect Acrobat Pro is involved due to the fact that this problem started about the same time?

Acrobat Pro puts a file in a folder in the Office
directory that causes the Acrobat Pro tool boxes to
    appear. Moving this
file will stop it from coming up. The folder is
called Extensions, or Add-ons, or Plug-Ins or
something like that. (I can't look up the actual
path since I'm stuck in front of a windows machine at

  • Trying to "click" on accept user agreement on Adobe Acrobat Pro, free trial.  Nothing happens.

I have a Mac Book Air, latest update of OSX system 10.7.5.  I successfully downloaded a free trial of Adobe Acrobat Pro.  I've successfully installed it.  But when a pop up window asks to me to accept the license agreement, nothing happens even though I've pressed the button numerous times.  I've called Apple and they said this is an Adobe problem.  Adobe will only help me M-F.  As this is Saturday I was hoping someone might have an idea.

This is a known issue with Acrobat XI
Problem: Mac OS only. On launch, a blank EULA screen appears, which cannot be accepted, and Acrobat does not run. This problem can appear if you have any products installed from CCM or from Creative Suite, and you tried installing Acrobat XI from a different source.
Workaround: Launch any other product which is part of the CCM or Creative suite. Then, deactivate it by choosing Help > Deactivate. Quit the application. Then, launch Acrobat and accept the EULA. Then, for the CCM subscription product, launch it and select License This Software to enable the CCM product again. If a CS application, launch it and reactivate it.
    Please refer : http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/known-issues-acrobat-xi-reader.html
Or you can try this :
Go to Applications->Utilities->Adobe Installers -> Adobe Acrobat X -> remove Acrobat X using the Uninstaller app.
Relaunch Acrobat XI and try to accept EULA.

  • Create link that when clicked downloads a file to a viewer's computer

Hi. I am using Dreamweaver MX on a Mac. I have a Word a doc (python_contents.doc) that I want to automaticaly download to the viewer's computer when he/she clicks a link called "Download Python Table of Contents."   Can't figure out how. Any help? Thanks millions.

Most straight links do in fact download the file, then launch in whichever helper application is required to view it.
If you zip the file first, it will download to the end user's hard drive (My Documents, desktop or some other Downloads folder). And the user will need to unzip it.
Or you might choose to use a "Force Download" script in whichever server-side languages your server supports.  This one is in PHP.

  • When clicking on menus, files, etc nothing happens

    Mac mini with Leopard.
when startup is completed, the user tries to click on anyting - Finder, items on desktop. Nothing happens. The cursor moves fine, so there's nothing wrong with mouse.
    Any ideas?

Create a new account, name it "test" and see how your apps work in that User acct? (That will tell if your problem is systemwide or limited to your User acct.) This account is just for test, do nothing further with it.
Open System Preferences >> Accounts >> "+" make it an admin account.
If the problem is present in the test account also, then it is systemwide. In this case try repairing this with the 10.5.5 Combo Update This is a fuller install, as opposed to an incremental "delta" update so it should overwrite any files that are damaged or missing. It does not matter if you have applied it before.
Remember to Verify Disk before update and repair permissions after update from /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.
If the problem does not appear in the test account try starting in "Safe Mode" (It will take a bit more time to startup because it runs a directory check first).
If that works go to System Preferences >> Accounts >> Login Items and remove them. Boot normally and test. If there are still problems, go to ~(yourHome)/Library/Contextual Menu Items and move whatever is there to the desktop. Then do the same with /Library/Contextual Menu Items. Lastly, try moving /Users/Home)/Library/Fonts to your desktop and restarting.
Log out/in or restart, if that sorts it start putting items back one at a time until you find the culprit.
    Let us know.

  • Files panel disappears when clicking Point-to-File icon Dreamweaver CC

I am trying to create a link using the Point-to-File technique.  Unfortunately, when I click on the Point-to-File icon the Files panel closes so I cannot click and drag from the icon to the file.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

I personally have never seen the behavior you describe (or heard of it in the forums in my time here) in any version of DW. I use DWCC daily and can't get it to do what you describe.
The Program Cache, when corrupt, can cause all kinds of weird issues with DW. Clearing it is just one step in the troubleshooting process and since the program creates a new version when it's started up, it's a pretty painless operation.
As for restoring preferences and the Edit > Preferences menu, I'm not sure where that came from. Did you not have a chance to take a look at the Restore Preferences link I posted above? If your preferences have become corrupt, it can also cause all kinds of strange behavior in DW. Restoring them to factory default is a bit more of a process than choosing a menu option, that process is explained in detail at this link (also posted above) Restore preferences | Dreamweaver CS4, CS5, CS5.5, CS6
If clearing the cache and restoring preferences doesn't fix the issue, a full reinstall using the cleaner tool available here will kill any corruptions in your program and give you a factory fresh installation of the program...
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html
Beyond that, if the problem persists, I would try creating a new admin level user account on the computer to test whether your user account has somehow become corrupt and is causing some kind of conflict with DW.
