Where's My LR Work?

I am concerned about where and how my LR work is stored and handled. I have made the following observations. Please correct any errors and add your ideas.
I create an embedded DNG using DNG converter, then I archive these files.
I use DNG converter again to create working files which I put into folders based on the date and event, then I import these files into LR, adding some keywords and metadata during the import.
I then use LR to review and adjust the photos.
LR stores the adjustments in its Library. I set LR to back up the Library each time I start. Then I back up the library, along with all the photos, on my various backup hard disks and web storage. I already got the message from LR that my library was corrupt. My first back up was also corrupt. Good thing I had the third backup which worked!
I found that if I select "Automatically write changes to XMP" in Edit>Preferences>File Management that my LR work is written directly to the DNG file along with being written to the LR library. It seems that when the DNG file is opened in ACR that it opens with the LR adjustments, but with no history of the adjustments. However, it appears that if you make a crop in LR it can easily be undone in ACR, so no pixels are lost.
Further, it appears that the LR adjustments history is lost when the file is manipulated outside of LR, even, for example, if you change the file name and reimport it to LR.
I now feel assured that my work is secure since it is recorded in the LR library and in the DNG.
This is my current understanding. It believe that it is very important for users of LR to understand how LR handles your work. It is also critical that you have a robust backup plan for your photos and for the work you put into them.

Hi Eric,
When LR writes to XMP, I thought it just writes a side car file, separate from the DNG (as the xmp file is a separate file). If this is the case, I think the DNG is not really being updated, rather LR and ACR are just reading the xmp data for the changes to be displayed for its corresponding file.
If the xmp file is removed from the directory then I am betting the DNG will show the original preview when you orignally created it with the DNG converter.
As a test, I manually copied a couple of DNG (worked in LR) to a separate directory, with out copying the xmp files. And sure enough, my changes were not shown in ACR or LR for the newly copied DNGs , but only the original previews showed.
What I find does truly work for updating the DNG is not making the embedded DNG at the front-end of the workflow (which is what I used to do, before LR).
What I now do is I work the renamed CR2 files (I'm a Canon user) in LR, and I also have the Automatically write the xmp files set.
After done, I then go to the directory of CR2 and xmp files and run DNG converter. DNG converter then embeds the raw files, AND it create the previews based on the xmp data. So my DNG files have the desired post-LR previews. And those previews appear in any DNG application without the xmp files (such as IView Multimedia Pro and pre-3.7 ACR).
So, I found to get DNG to update previews, I had to put my DNG converter step on the end, so it can create previews based on the xmp data.
I could be wrong. I just find this works for me.

Tracy, first you should restart the iPhone by holding down the on/off and the home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo. This process could solve some of your problems. Also make sure you have the latest update, go into our settings>general>software update. On the wifi issue try restarting your router, if you are still having problems try resetting your network settings, go into your settings>general>reset then tap reset network settings.
The battery issues seems normal, the battery will not last 24 hours.

Select with timestamp in the where-clause don't work after importing data

I have to databases (I call them db1 and db2, they have the same datastructure) and exported some data from the table "rfm_meas"from db1. Later on I imported that dataset into the "rfm_meas"-table of db2. The table contains a col with the datatype "timestamp(6)" and checking the success of the import looks fine:
(executed on db2)
SELECT
id,acqtime
from
rfm_meas
WHERE
box_id=1
AND id>145029878
Returns two rows:
ID ACQTIME
145029883 01.06.10 10:30:00,000000000
145029884 01.06.10 10:50:00,000000000
It seems there are valid timestamps as I expected.
But if I now want to select all rows from box_id=1 which are newer than e.g. 25-may-2010 I would try this:
SELECT
id,acqtime
from
rfm_meas
WHERE
box_id=1
AND acqtime>=to_timestamp('25-05-2010 17:10:00,000','DD-MM-YYYY HH24:MI:SS,FF3')
And it returns ... nothing!? If I execute the same query on db1 it works correctly.
I guess db1 and db2 has different codepages!?
If I insert some rows from a PL/SQL script in db2 into the "rfm_meas"-table, querys like the one above works fine. Therefore i guess, during importing the data there must be something wrong, so I cann see the timestamp, but can't use it.
How can i fix that? Any ideas?
If someone need more details I will provide it.

For example if i create a table like

CREATE INDEX IX_CustomerName ON dbo.Customers(CustomerName);
And then try to change column datatype like shown below to 230 from 200.
alter table Customers
alter column CustomerName nvarchar(230) null
The above alter command runs successfully and index IX_CustomerName is not dropped.
But if i try to reduce the size of column to 150 from 200 then it shows error.
alter table Customers
alter column CustomerName nvarchar(150) null
I get error like
Msg 5074, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
The index 'IX_CustomerName' is dependent on column 'CustomerName'.
Msg 4922, Level 16, State 9, Line 1
ALTER TABLE ALTER COLUMN CustomerName failed because one or more objects access this column.
So reducing the size(data may loss) of a column does not work if index is present on a column where as if the index not present then above
query works successfully. So why does it does not allow reducing the column when index present where as increasing size does not show any problem and works?

WHERE clause doesn't work in certain column

Hi All,
I try to filter mysql database using WHERE clause...everything seem working until i found there are 3 column that i can't use for WHERE clause query. When i use that columns to filter, there's no data appear in the table but the other column is working. Attached is my VI and mysql database. I really don't know what cause it happen. Any help would be very appreciated

Have you tried the select from whatever SQL command interpreter that MySQL provides?
It needs to be in the form SELECT * FROM issue WHERE 'condition'. If you want to get all the rows where person 1 is Harry then you would write
SELECT * FROM issue WHERE person1 = 'Harry'
The way your VI is written you will get one of two commands.
SELECT * FROM issue WHERE 'All' or SELECT * FROM issue WHERE 'WIWI'
That may return all rows if a string resolves to true. I don't use MySQL so I wouldn't know.
Disregarding LabVIEW for a moment, what is the SQL command or commands that you want your VI to send to the ADO execute VI? That might help figure out what it is you want to do.

In updating Photoshop Elements 10, I was instructed to uninstall both the Photoshop Elements 10 Inspiration Browser and Adobe AIR software. I did. But now I don't have the weblink where I can download the suggested updates. (They were uninstalled along with the software.)

You can't get with out AIR. you could uninstall it afterwards.
i believe there is switch you could user when installing it to diable the AIR. I have it disabled at work, but I'm also
packaging it for mass deployment to 7000 machines. Check out appdeploy.com
If you don't want AIR and Acrobat.com you need to get the .msi and download the custom wizard and make an .mst file and run those. Quite fun. Or like I ssaid just run the set up and uninstall those features.

Connection now killed where it use to work great.

For the past year, I have used Time Capsule as my wireless router and got a good signal in the opposite end of the house (obviously better when closer to the TC but good enough to surf the web). Now it doesn't connect at all in the 2 rooms it use to but still does in the rest of the house.
Things I've tried:
Hard reset, New Network Name and Password.
Deleting keychain info
Deleting things in the SysPrefs-Network as well creating a new Location
Every 2.4GHz channel (1 to 11) as well as automatic
Using the 5GHz with various channels
Changing from WPA/WPA2 Personal to just WPA2 Personal
Please offer help as I can not understand why it one day reaches that room and now doesnt at all yet still works fine everywhere else. This is the room where I use my laptop the most and I stream music from the TC hard drive so now I live there in sad sad silence.

The probable cause of your problem is that other homeowners near you have added wireless networks, wireless devices like cordless phones, security systems, and any number of other things that are starting to create interference with your wireless signal.
The solution might be to add an AirPort Express to "extend" your wireless signal strength, since I doubt that you will be able to convince the neighbors to turn off their wireless network and their cordless phones. I say might, because there are never any guarantees with wireless. You just don't know until you try.
Even better would be to add an AirPort Extreme and connect it back to the Time Capsule using an ethernet cable, but your home construction may not permit this. If it does, this is by far the best way to increase the coverage of your wireless network because you can locate the AirPort Extreme exactly where it is needed.
If you use an AirPort Express to "extend" the signal using wireless only, you'll need to locate it approximately 1/2 the distance between the Time Capsule and the area that needs more coverage. Everything is a compromise here, but often this is the best that you can do.
