10.4.7 MBP Sony DSC-1 USB disappearing camera

The fix to see your sony DSC T-1 camera on an upgraded to 10.4.7. MBP is to change the USB mode ON THE CAMERA to PTP. Then all is good.

I dont have a solution to your problem, but I am curious how you got your camera to work with your mac. Every where I read everyone is just plugging them in and its working. Is there a usb driver or something?

  • Why will Camera Raw 6.7.1 in CS5 not recognize Raw files from a Sony DSC RX100M3?   The Camera Raw site indicates this camera is covered.

I have a new Sony DSC RX100M3 and Camera Raw (6.7.1) in Photoshop CS5 (on a Mac) will not recognize the Raw files from this camera.  What must I do?

    Well, I guess the sentence
The table below lists all cameras that the Camera Plug-in (versions 1.0 through 8.5) supports.
could be interpreted to mean that even version 1 supports all those cameras’ raw formats.
    And even the sentence
This powerful plug-in has been frequently updated to support more cameras and include more features and is available as part of Adobe Photoshop CC.
which should make clear that older versions of Camera Raw usually support fewer cameras does not unambiguously make clear that only the most recent full version of Camera Raw is being updated.
So I kind of understand how you arrived at your assumption.

  • Sony dsc-wx150 digital camera doesn't connect in iPhoto

Just got a Sony DSC-WX-150 digital camera. Already have a Mac Mini, OS 10.7.xx latest updates, and iPhoto 11 with latest updates. When I connect the camera with the supplied usb cable and turn it on, iPhoto doesn't respond or show the mounted device. The Finder sees it and shows it in a window as a memory stick. Any idea why it doesn't show or what I can do about it? TIA
    Jim

Thanks, Larry. Why couldn't that be in the Troubleshooting section or on Sony's web site? I'm sure I'm not the only one with a new memory card.

  • Sony dsc m - 1 digital hybrid camera compatiblity

I was wondering if anyone has tried the sony dsc m -1 digital camera? It takes movies in the m-peg 4 format. I would like to buy just 1 camera that can take both movies with sound, as well as nice still pictures. Most of the movies I'd be taking will be quite short and mainly of my son. I wanted something smaller than a camcorder, but still does a nice job for movies and is compatible with both i movie and i photo. If anybody has any other recommendations on cameras that fit this bill, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Steve in Taiwan.

Yeah Steve it is the truth. I have 4 digital cameras (3 SLR and one Leica P&S) and three video cameras (2 DV tape and one MPEG-2 hard drive) , and even among the still cameras there are reasons to use one vs the other.
I found the "movie" mode in the digital cameras was just plain silly - too tiny and too drab, and I have yet to see in any DV camera the still component to look like anything but a video frame or a low-res 2MP still camera picture regardless of maker, megapixel etc. The optical chain for one is optimal the other marginal. Both ways.
And cost wise you don't need to spend that much - and any DV (tape) camera is so good for video in decent light you would never go back. And you'd regret what you had already shot as a compromise.
I am experimenting with the JVC hard drive based video camera aware of its limitations ( shooting directly into MPEG-2 specifically) but its amazing (tiny) dimensions and huge capacity (7 to 37 hours of recording) . But it won't substitute for a DV camera for the right subject matter. It is fun for a very expensive toy though and they say it has good stills - I haven't even bothered to put in a SD card to test those claims and won't bother to try.

  • USB not recognize camera Sony DSC-W80

I connected my camera Sony DSC-W80 and doesn't appears on the desktop. I checked the System Profiler and the camera was there, in the USB high speed bus (I have the same problem before with a iomega external hard drive). Then I connected the camera in a USB hub and it appears on the desktop and everything was working ok.
How can I connect the camera directly to the USB to appears on the desktop?
It is a software problem? Can I upgrade the mass storage software?
    Please Help me!!!

I'm having the same problem. Any luck?

  • How do I import video from a Sony DSC-HX100V Camera into iPhoto

How do I import video from a Sony DSC-HX100V Camera into iPhoto? . . . i can see all the photos but the videos are not visable (I also connected the SD card with a USB Sony SD Card Reader - again only the photos are accessible - no video files are shown) . . .

If you're shooting AVCHD then you'll need to upgrade to iPhoto 11v9.3 to import this material.
A note on AVCHD: This format was developed for people who are shooting to edit the material afterwards. If you're shooting to edit, then iMovie or Final Cut are the correct home for this material. If you're not shooting to edit consider using one of the other video formats on your Camera.

Unfortunately some sad folks like to come to the forum not to help but simply to pick arguments for their own amusments.
No digitial still camera by any major maker requires installing drivers from a CD or DVD. None.
The same is true of many scanners and copiers too, in the hands of a knowledgeable computer user. People running older systems that they don't understand or know how to use will disagree, of course, if they choose to be argumentative. Personally, I ignore usch people.
The common causes for your issue are
    1. A USB fault. That might be a damaged cable, an issue with the USB ports on your computer or your camera. Easiest way to check: swap the cables, try a different port, make sure your camera is on and charged
    2. Try use a USB Card Reader or the Card Reader port on your Mac, if it has one.
    3. Another possibility is that the camera card may need to be reformatted - you do this with the camera only.

  • Tutorial for SONY DSC-T100 camera?

    Hi,
I use a Power  Mac G4; run MacOS OX Tiger 10.4.11.  I need help in downloading pictures from my SONY DSC-T100 digital camera to my Mac.  The instructions on the SONY Manual are mostly for Windows users, and are very vague for the Mac users.  I need a step-by-step procedure to download pictures from my SONY camera to my Mac.
    Sincerely,
    Angel

I'm sorry, but there is no 10.7.5 - do you mean 10.4.x or 10.5.x or 10.6.x?
I asked because 10.6. (which you have now) no longer supports the classic environment, but previous OS's did. So, if the store "upgraded" you to the latest OS when you had it in for repair, then that would be the reason. So, if you can't remember which OS version was on it, I would call or go to the store and ask if they changed the OS version. Now, I'm not sure what a Sony Driver Disc is - do you mean it's the software that came with your camera? Depending on the format of your camera cards, you should be able to use a USB card reader instead which might be easier to deal with.

  • Does the camera connection kit work with sony DSC-HX9V?

Hi, just been given iPad 3 by my lovely wife (great present) and want to start using it with my Sony DSC-HX9V camera to import pictures and video.  I've heard that there can be power supply issues (I guess you can turn off USB charge on the camera), but grateful if anyone has used this combo successfully before I shell-out £25. Thanks....

It won't as the Sony DSC-HX9V records video into MTS files and not into MOV ones. Sorry - there is no way you can watch or even import(!) your movies on an iPad without using a desktop computer.
Also read http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/playing-back-1080p60i60p-non-mov-videos-right- your-camera for more info on the matter and the solutions (make sure you follow the iVI review link at the bottom as it's one of the best remuxer tools for the Mac). • New Sony DSC T900 Camera Advice

This is my first post on the Apple forums although I have read many post on here from others and found it a very useful and informative place to learn, I am also to fairly new to Final Cut also making the transition over from iMovie 08 so please be patient with me, thanks.
I hope the links work I have inserted have and I have given enough information to you all to try and help.
My system is a iMac 24 inch Intel 2.4GHz processor with 1 GB of memory
Here go's, my query is about the new Sony DSC T900 still and video camera that I have recently purchased, I have shot a 15 minute 1 GB HD movie in 1280x720 widescreen on it with a Sony pro duo 8 GB AVCHD memory stick, which is formatted to MS Dos(Fat32) according to the Apple info tab and is "as is" when i purchased it.
I can not find much out about this camera on other forums as it as only just come out from Sony I think.
The camera uses a USB docking station to connect it to the computer and I am using a
2 terabyte Western Digital external hard for media storage which is formatted in Mac OS extended journaled and set as my scratch disk storage
My question is how or can I upload direct into Final Cut Express 4 HD from this camera using USB connection, I have all the setting correct I think in F.C for my system and camera, and also have Tom's book for reference which I have found very very useful but I am not having any luck, after trying numerous things to get the footage into F.C. I can easily load it into iMovie 08 and export as an XML file and I can use import in F.C direct from the memory stick but when I try any other methods in Toms book i have no luck.
Are there any advantages or disadvantages to any of these methods I have used so far as opposed to the likes of Log & Transfer and which should I use if it is possible to to achieve the best results and to retain the best quality of the footage in the final rendering of the movie.
If anybody can help and needs more information to help I will post further details so please just ask.
    Thanks in advance
    Guy

    Welcome to the forum!
FCE can only capture or ingest DV, HDV, or AVCHD directly and can only edit DV, Apple Intermediate Codec, or some other Quicktime formats natively. I don't believe the footage taken by this camera meets any of these specifications. You should first convert the footage taken on your camera using [MPEG Streamclip|http://www.squared5.com> to a format FCE understands.

  • Video import problems from a Sony DSC-HX9V

    Hey There
I have a Sony DSC-HX9V which I've owned for several months now, a Intel based MBP and iMovie 11.
Something strange is cooking and I wonder if anyone could let me have some suggestions of how to solve the issue?
In the past both iPhoto and iMovie has had no problems at all recognizing the camera and downloading photos and video files. I've created projects, burnt DVDs all the normal stuff.
This afternoon though a problem has arisen. Although iPhoto is letting me download photos from the camera, iMovie I guess is not "seeing" the camera. I've done exactly what I think I usually do, but this time its not working. When you click on "Import from camera" the window opens up but only the iSight camera is being used. I've clicked the "camera" drop down but again only the iSight camera is an option.
I've made sure all of my software is updated, no problems there, turned the camera off, turned the MBP off and on numerous times, but still it won't see the camera.
I've spent the last few hours trolling through various posts, even tried shooting video in all of the different quality grades available on the camera, just to make sure, but still nothing.
This Sony camera is definitely compatible with iMovie 11, again I've check and as I mentioned before, I've used it several times in the past.
Any suggestions would be warmly received.
    David

I found this link helpful, I'm going to change the camera settings to 60i from 60p as on post mentions and will report the results http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat.asp?forum=1009&message=39416949&chang emode=1

  • How to acquire images with a Sony dsc

Hi, I would like to know if there is a method to interface or connect a consumer digital camera (Sony dsc- s650) to labview, what I'm trying to do is control the camera in order to acquire images whit it, I have read some stuff about .icd files but i havent been able to find more information about it, this is a school project i need to build a machien vision app but i'm very limited with hardware so fas this is the only camera i have, thanks.

    Hello mjasso,
If you cannot buy NI hardware to
interface with a camera, you have three options: firewire, GigE or USB
cameras. From a datasheet I found on the web, the Sony dsc-s650 has a
USB interface. The following knowledgebase article explains which USB
    cameras are supported:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/89E33B77CFE244E986256F8E004E0F13
. You will need the NI-IMAQ for USB driver if the camera has a
DirectShow filter. You will probably have to contact Sony to verify
    this information.
Please refer to the following webpage
to see the requirements for the IMAQ for USB driver:
    http://sine.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/5030 . I hope this helps.

  • Aperture raw support sony dsc-rx100

Do you know when Aperture will support raw (*.arw) files from Sony DSC-RX100.

Slightly off topic but since a few people have the camera already, has anyone tried the RX100 with the ipad camera connector?  Speculation is that it won't work, because the RX100 tried to pull power for charging its internal camera battery via USB, so the ipad error's out (doesn't like the attempted power draw) rather than importing the pictures (kind of like connecting a blackberry via the camera kit, in an attempt to download pictures from the blackberry, but not being able to do so since the blackberry wants to pull power via the USB port, too).

  • Downloading stalls from Sony DSC-S90

I am having trouble downloading from my Sony DSC-S90 digital camera to iphoto. The camera has two short video clips (with audio) and about 30 photos on the memory stick.
When I connect to iphoto, it'll download the first 5 photos, then it hits the video clip and stalls. One time it skipped over the two videos and loaded the photo right after the videos, and then stalled, leaving another 24 photos stranded on my camera.
My wife has another model of Sony digital camera, which also takes short video (without sound); with that camera, we can load everything onto iphoto, even the video clips.
I tried loading onto imovie with this camera, but it has a USB rather than firewire connection, and it won't work.("camera not connected" shows on screen.)
    Any help greatly appreciated!
    Thanks-Remulak
G3 ibook   Mac OS X (10.3)   using external memory

Go into Image Capture, Preferences. Change the camera settings from iPhoto to Image Capture. Now try to download all the images to a convenient folder. If that works, you can import the images into iPhoto manually. Go back to Image Capture and change the camera settings back to iPhoto.
This sounds a bit like a memory card that needs formatting. Once the images are safely on your Mac, find the format command in the Sony menu.

  • Camera Connector with Sony DSC-W50

I'm trying to import photos from my Sony DSC-w50 to my 5G 60GB video ipod using the Apple Camera Connector. After connecting the device and turning on the camera I go to the Photo Import menu and select Import Photos it then goes to a screen that says "ready to connect" I'm not sure what to do after that the camera is connected to the ipod via the usb cable and the camera is turned on, seems to be all I can do.
    Any ideas?

ptp is to go to a printer. i have 3 transfer modes on my minolta and 2 on my sony, they both only work when they are in normal mode.
one quick note. i had a problem when i was transfering pics on one occasion, it just stopped mid-way and then would no longer recognise the camera. i turned both off then back on, nothing. i did the select+menu reset and everything was back to normal.
i am quickly finding that the camera connector is a finnicky piece now that i am looking to find a card reader that it will recognize. i doesn't recognise much. good luck
