10.6.2 or 10.6.3 Combo will not install

After installing 10.6.2 on my MacMini, I no longer have Preview images displayed. When attempting to install, I get Console message of:

I've booted off a 10.6 DVD, and ran permission repair and disk repair, booted under a new admin in Safe Mode, tried install to drive via Target Disk mode from another computer - still no success.
Going to try and run TechTool Pro on the drive - but don't have any hopes.
Any suggestions?

Try installing SL from it's original disc—should be 10.6.0.

Hi,
I had everything running on windows 7 fine until 2 days ago. I installed Live Update from MSI website. I was about to install driver updates for my motherboard, but the bios update went instead. my pc tried to restart after the bios update installed, but it failed. would not post and would only see black screen.
then i removed one of my memory sticks. it would post, but then windows would not start up. it would get stuck at windows loading screen. i tried to reformat with my windows cd. but during install it would blue screen of death me. i tried multiple times and it would always blue screen of death with different errors. the last one i remember was a message saying i should off turn shadowing and caching.
this all started happening after i attempted bios update via Live Update.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

When attempt to click App Store or Software Update (same) get error message screen "Cannot Connect to the App Store"
I have read other discussions and have not found an answer that works for me. Have same access problem with new MacMini at my office.
Is there a network configuration I am missing? Issue with Airport?

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.

10.8.2 combo update will not install

I have a Mac mini late 2012, Mountain Lion 10.8.2. I face a problem with Safari and I thought that installing the combo update might help. However, at the "Destination Select" appears the yellow warning sign along with the message " OS X Update Combined can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update".
Any ideas ?.

Good luck - if you want to do an erase and reinstallation, you can do so by holding down the Command, option and R keys whilst booting. If you just want to do a new install of the OS, just hold down the Command and R keys whilst booting and go from there. The 'special edition' that your machine needs will be downloaded and installed.

Combo Drive will not install off DVD

I have a Imac 700mhz with a combo drive. This summer when I tried to install Tiger it could not verify the DVD so after sending out two more Dvd's Apple sent me CD's which did load Tiger without a problem. I assumed it was a fluke but I just purchased ILIFE and it won' complete the installation, it says THERE WERE ERRORS INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE. I was able to load IPHOTO off the CD with ILIFE but I can't install GarageBand off the DVD.After seeing all the posts on Superdrives I'm wondering if I am having a problem with my Combo. It will play and burn CD's and play commercial DVD's( though my wife had trouble playing a scatched up Dvd once). Any suggestions?

Hello Don, my computer has a DVD player. I purchased the original retail Tiger from Apple, when it would not load they said it was a bad DVD. After a few hours on the phone with Apple they sent me two other replacement copies of Tiger in DVD and then they finally sent it to me on CD, which installed without a problem I recently purchased Ilife '05 and I was not able to install off of that DVD. ILife also comes with a CD which I used to install the new IPhoto but I am unable to install GarageBand off the DVD. Apple said they do not believe I have a problem with my Combo drive because it still reads Commercial DVD's. I am at a loss and guess it needs to go in for service. My computer is about 3 1/2 years old and until recently I have rarley even used it to play or burn a CD. I have a hard time believing that I would have worn out the Combo Drive.

Had an iPhone 4 updating the OS when it was interrupted by the computer going to sleep and now is frozen on "plug into iTunes" screen. Home/Power button combo will not reset, iTunes does not acknowledge the phone is plugged in.

I recently upgraded to the 5s, so I delegated my old iPhone 4 to a music player/daughter checking instagram and email. Three days ago I plugged the iPhone 4 into iTunes to update it, the OS began updating. During the update my computer went into sleep mode, interrupting the OS update. Now the phone will not do anything but show the screen with the graphic indicating to plug the phone into iTunes. I've tried a hard reset (holding down power button/home button), plugging the phone into iTunes before/during holding down the home button, holding down the buttons for various lengths of time in various permutations according to info I've found online, etc, and nothing happens beyond a brief showing of the Apple logo and then back to the same screen. iTunes will make a connection noise when the phone is plugged in but otherwise makes no indication that a device is plugged in (no iPhone button in the tool bar, etc.). Any ideas or do I need to take it to an actual Apple store and hope they don't tell me it is completely bricked?

Yep, done all that. Repeatly. Don't get any sort of recovery mode message or the phone showing up on iTunes at all. iTunes is most current version, all diagnostics show everything fine, and it works fine with my current phone. Just....nothing.

KT2 Combo will not boot

Installed board with Duron 1300. The board booted to bios with no problems, until I formatted the HD and rebooted. It will not boot now at all. No bios, VGA doesn't even come on. No beeps. No HD activity, nothing. I cleared CMOS and nothing happened. Please help me!!!!

No beebs? PC-speaker connected? If there is no beebs or life of any kind, the motherboard or some some other part may be shortcutted. Or something very VERY important has fried on the motherboard or PSU is broken.
If it's a short circuit, disassemble you computer completely and try to boot your mobo out of the case w only the most neccessary equipment installed.
Also, don't forget to check your fsb jumper that it isn't in the wrong setting, it is right next to clear cmos jumper and if you accidentaly switch that in the process from fsb 100 to 133 the mobo will most certainly not boot.

Combo box not behaving like it should

I have a form in which I have 4 combo boxes that have more or less the same choices, however there is one that is common to all 4 (E078).
When "E078" is selected in any of the combo box, a new combo box will appear (and a white rectangle will be hidden so that the new combo box title can be seen). It works when I select that in one or more combo box, however to make it disappear I have to select some other choice in the same combo box twice!!! If I select anything only once, it will not make the new combo box hidden, but if re-select something (same or another choice) then the combo box will disappear!
I am at lost, and would be very thankful if someone could make it work seamlessly. I mean it works, nut it is just inconvenient and I cannot tell the user to make select something else twice if they want the field to disappear.

When you use event.value in a combo box's Validate event it does not give you the export value, which is what you want. It is easier to use place the code in a custom Keystroke script where you can use the event.changeEx property to retrieve the export value of the selected item. When I click on combo boxes, they do not respond. They become active but a menu fails to appear. The combo box can sometimes be navigated with the arrow keys, but the actual menu doesn't appear.

I purchased a combo pack the download will not acknowledge my serial numbers

I purchased the above mentioned combo pack on September 5, 2103 (Order #AD009301367). Apparently I did not get the complete package downloaded back then. I have been working with the Premier Elements organizing my photos, but when I went to begin creating projects, it tells me I do not have all I need. I am mising photoshop elements. I cannot download it because the customer site will not acknowledge my serial number. Can I get help with this. Without the photoshop portion of this package, the entire purchase is useless.

Serial numbers should not have anything to do with downloading the application. Try downloading from the site linked below, but be sure to carefully follow the instructions.

ITunes crashing/10.6.8 Combo image not recognized

I have been having the widely reported iTunes store crashes, as well as persistent permissions errors, slow performance, and difficulty buring DVDs from the Finder. Files can't be found, etc. although they are there and although I'd repaired permissions before trying to burn.
I hoped that using the 10.6.8 Combo updater would repair these problems.
It is a two-month old MacBook Pro running 10.6.8 (updated via Software Update).
I have downloaded the Update Combo from the Apple site (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399) three different times, but each time I prepare to run the update, when I click on the dmg file, I get this error:
I have downloaded the update at quiet times (including at night) and have no reason to believe there have been interruptions that might have corrupted the file. I am on a T1 connection.
Is there a different source for the update image? Is there something else I can do? I have repaired the disk from Disk Utility on the install disk, have repaired permissions also from the install disk and from the mounted volume (including in Safe Boot). Each time there are many, many errors that are repaired.

Replying again. Many other crashes, in Safari, Skype, iTunes (store), iWeb, Dictionary. Frustrated, I went to the Apple Store today and had a session with a Genius. He could not install the 10.6.8 Combo Update on my machine from an external drive. Then he checked software updates and I saw a THunderbolt update I hadn't seen before. Downloading that allowed me to download the 10.6.8 Combo Update, and installing that update has apparently solved the problems.
So the key is to install the updates as they come out. The Thunderbolt update was billed as being about "stability" and it seems to have resolved something in the 10.6.8 update that I'd done via Software Update.

I was at 10.6.4 tried updating to 10.6.7 Combo would not work. Tried 10.6.8 disk image wouldn't load. Now mail won't work. Tried 10.6.6 combo - won't load. I'm on dial-up so I can only download when I bring my computer to work. HELP

Go to an Apple store or AASP with a blank DVD or 2.0 GB USB flash drive and ask them if the would put the 10.6.8 combo updater on it for you.

Hi,
A "Combo" update is all updates from the base 10.7 rolled into one ( i.e. 10.7.1+10.7.2+10.7.3+10.7.4)
A "Delta" update is just the updates from previous release to release + 1.
So to be able to use the Delta you have to be on the previous release (i.e. on 10.7.3 and want to update to 10.7.4)
If you are anything less that the the current you can *only* use the combo.
However some people swear by only using the combo as this re-applies all updates from base and historically seems more reliable. I've never found this but you may find different.
Delta updates are a lot smaller than Combo updates (obviously) so are quicker to download and apply.

I have an HP ZT1130, running XP SP3. It has a Toshiba SD-R2102 DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive that will not read or write to any media. I don't get any error messages. The drive is present in MY Computer & Device Manager indicates it is working properly. When I place any disk in the drive, I get a message to "insert a disk". I have already uninstalled & reinstalled the device, removed the "high & low filters" in the registry, operating from a "clean boot state", run a registry cleaner. I am currently using Microsoft Media Player 11. I have run out of things to check, I hope someone has some answers.

Combo drive not pulling disks in: feels like something is in

I have this problem its about my combo drive, it doesn't take disk in any more. The mechanism that pulls the cd in is no longer working. cds wont go in when inserted more than 1/2 of the cd. I cant push the cd in any further, it feels like there is something in side blocking. The last time the drive worked was a few months back. I ejected a cdrw from the drive. the cdrw was damaged. the metallic layer on the disk came off. since than the drive will not accept disks.

Hopefully it's not seriously damaged.
