10.7 client .dmg creation for deployment questions.

Please forgive me if this question is in the wrong forum.
I've been doing searches online and in the 10.7 Peachpit books (client and server) and I can't seem to find the info I am looking for.
I am trying to create a 10.7 .dmg to use on new Macs my company is going to deploy. We are not using 10.7 Server at the moment, we
are using 10.6.8 Server. This will not be an image we are going to deploy over the network either. I know this may not be "best practices"
but at the moment, this is the way we are going to (re)image new Macs.
Basically, I want to create a 10.7 .dmg that does NOT contain the recovery partition. I can't seem to find a way to do this. If I am correct,
even a "clean" install, when booted from a USB 10.7 recovery drive, will create the recovery partition, right?
I am running 10.7 client and i have the 10.7.3 Server Admin tools.
I apologize in advance if I am missing something glaringly obvious.
Also, any tips on best practices for creating 10.7 client .dmgs for deployment that's any different than creating 10.6 images?
thanks in advance.

Using information from this site and my own scripting experience I present to you a more secure way to do it which supports munki and other deployment tools without having the password to the ODM or client in clear text on the client or on packages easeliy accessable on a http server:
On server:
ssh-keygen
Save the output of ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub to your clip board
Then create a launchd or something so that this runs at startup
nc -kl 1337 | xargs -n 1 -I host ssh -q -o StrictHostKeyChecking=no root@host /usr/local/bin/setupLDAP diradminpassword localadminpassword > /dev/null 2>&1
On client:
Create script (to use in a package as postinstall or something):
#!/bin/bash
# Turns on ssh
systemsetup -f -setremotelogin On
# Sets up passwordless login to root account from server
echo "ssh-rsa FROM_YOUR_CLIPBOARD_A_VERYLONGOUTPUTOFCHARACTERS [email protected]" >> /var/root/.ssh/authorized_keys
# installs setupLDAP
mkdir -p /usr/local/bin
cat > /usr/local/bin/setupLDAP <<'EOF'
#!/bin/sh
PATH=/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin
export PATH
computerid=`scutil --get ComputerName`; yes | dsconfigldap -vfs  -a 'server.domain.no' -n 'server' -c $computerid -u 'diradmin' -p $1 -l 'l' -q $2
EOF
chmod +x /usr/local/bin/setupLDAP
End note
That was the code, now you just add the skeleton And to clearify what this does, first we let the server connect to the client as root even though root access is "disabled" (he has no password and therefore you can't log in as root as default). Then we create a small script to setup OD binding (/usr/local/bin/setupLDAP) but this script doesn't contain the passwords. Then the client send a request to the small socket server on the server with it's hostname, then the server connects to that hostname and executes /usr/local/bin/setupLDAP with the needed passwords.

  • Network/Deployment Question

I have just completed the first installation of my application and have moved it to the client's computer for deployment. This computer runs Windows XP Pro and is on a local area network. While the application runs fine on the local machine, I have been unable to connect to it from other computers on the network using the URL http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex/f?p=101:1. This URL connects properly from the local machine, but not from other machines on the local network. What do I need to do to get other machines to be able to see the application?
    Thanks for your help.

    Yes, enable remote access! And...
To know what is the URL you must use do the follow:
In the server machine(that one running the Oracle XE and your application):
    In Windows, go to Start>Run
    Open:
    cmd.exe
    Type in DOS Prompt:
    ipconfig.exe
    You will see something like:
    Windows IP Configuration
    Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
    Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : fbi.gov.br
    IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.101.201.30
    Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 10.101.200.21
You need to use your IP Address in URL.
    In my case I use:
    http://10.101.201.30:8080/apex/f?p=101:1
    Good luck,
    Felipe
ps: Using this IP you will be able to access the application only using computers that are in the same local network.

App-V:  A Configuration Template for Deploying to Stateless RDS Clients on Citrix Published Desktops with Citrix UPM for Profile Management
Just posted this to the wiki:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/25318.app-v-a-configuration-template-for-deploying-to-stateless-rds-clients-on-citrix-published-desktops-with-citrix-upm-for-profile-management.aspx

I would not recommend this and keep the package cache and the client on the same non-persistent drive and enable the Shared Content Store. If you separate the cache and the App-V client they could get out of sync and strange behaviour can occur.
You can use a temporary local profile with Citrix UPM or UE-V and specify what to roam/save.
You can use the Shared Content Store so packages will stream over the network. When the user logs on there is a publishing phase where shortcuts etc are created for the user, this will take some time.
Are you using the App-V full infrastructure?
Are you using a boot disk, partition or PXE in combination with PVS?

  • Step-by-Step Help Needed for Deploying Some Adobe Software

We are a K-12 educational institution.  I am currently working at setting up a computer lab with about 16 MacMini computers.
I'm VERY new to the realm of servers, deployment, using terminal, etc.
I've done lots of research to make it to where I am, but just can't wrap my head around what needs done next with the Adobe products.
I am using Server OSX (v3) and DeployStudio (v 1.6.3) to try and manage the computers.
Both my server and clients are running Mavericks 10.9.
I deployed my core images successfully and would like to now send Adobe products only the computers I choose since I have limited licenses.
We have volume licenses of Adobe InDesign CS6 and Photoshop Elements 12 that we would like to deploy.
I have been referencing the following sites, but just can't seem to wrap my head around the EXACT steps that need to be taken.
    http://blogs.adobe.com/oobe/2010/10/adobe-provisioning-toolkit-enterprise-edition.html
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/packager/provisioning-toolkit-enterprise.html
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/silent-install-instructions-photoshop-element s2.html
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5781663
For Adobe InDesign CS6 - I've done the following:
Created an "Installation Package" using Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Edition (AAMEE v6.2.112.0) using the following instructions.
    http://wwwimages.adobe.com/www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/creativesuite/pdfs/Ad obeApplicationManagerEnterpriseEditionDeploymentGuide_v_3_1.pdf
If I log into the client computer, put the package ON the client computer, and run it...it takes me through the install and works wonderfully. It's not automated like I wanted/thought I set it up to do. I have to click through the steps of the installer.
If I try to deploy it using the "Package install" Workflow in DeployStudio...it loads it during the workflow, then skips through it, acts like it installed it, but it isn't actually installed. Is there a setting that I need to possibly change somewhere?
For Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 - I'm a bit lost and mostly just have questions:
I know that I can't use AAMEE and need to use APTEE (Adobe Provisioning Toolkit Enterprise Edition).
How do I deploy the software? Create my own Package using PackageMaker?
Which computer do I run APTEE on? All the instructions I can find just say, "do this" - but don't specify where.
Do I have to open terminal and run the commands on each client computer AFTER installing PE12?
    OR
Do I run the commands BEFORE deployment on my package stored on my server that is ready for deployment?
It really comes down to me just not 100% understanding how APTEE works.
I hope that pertrays my dilemma. I've tried to explain best I can.  If you have any questions - let me know!
Thanks in advance for any insight you can give!

  • Re: Bloated clients (was: pattern for persistancemanagement)

    Geoff,
From what I've understood of Forte's partitioning behaviour, the only way to get rid of b, c, d and e Projects from the client partition is by
deploying them as a shared library and having the Client dynamically
load them at run-time. Any other way, including creating a complex
structure of interfaces to avoid the client referencing the other
projects directly, or even deploying the Server projects as another
Application, will not prevent these projects from being included in the
    Client Partition.
The problem I guess is that when we think along the lines of components
we immediately associate them with Service Objects. Clearly, it's the
Project and not the SO which can be classified as a component in Forte.
The questions I have is : Now that we know how Forte's Partioning
mechanism works, would it significantly impact the way we partition our
Apps ? I'm not so sure.

This topic is of keen interest to me as well. At my customer's
urging, I wrote a little test application spread across
four or five projects, each supplying the next..
    a << b << c << d << e
The projects b,c,d, and e each contain a class and a service
object based on that class. I partitioned it (a client
partition and four server partitions for b c d e) and made
a distribution. Then I looked at the client partition
and discovered b c d e were projects for it!
If you code-generate this and run fcompile, you will see
that all the code for all the projects in the entire chain
of supplier projects winds up in the client partition.
To be clear about this, if project e contains a class X,
you will see the source code for X.init and all other
X methods in the client partition.
This appears to be the default behavior, and the open
question is how to change the default behavior, if that
    can be done.
    All my best,
    Geoff
P.S. If e uses GenericDBMS as a supplier, it will show up
in the client too. Of course!
This is at least my understanding as of today.

  • Unable to select 'Use Phone for audio calls' on Cisco Jabber Client 9.6 for Windows

    Hi,
I have recently deployed Cisco Presence Server and integrated with Call Manager 9.1.2. I have successfully deplyed 6700 users on IM & Presence. Some of the users requested for Cisco Jabber with phone control.
I have added CFS client on the Call Manager and associated it with the same extension numbers from their desk phones. I am currently able to make audio and video calls for these specific users. I am currently using Cisco Jabber Client 9.6 for windows. I have users both daisy chained to their desk phones and who are not. Can you please confirm if it does make any difference.
    Problem Faced -
I am not able to use to option use phone for audio calls. The phone comes down with a cross sign on it. At the same time Cisco Jabber by default uses the client and it works as expected.
Can you please let me know if any of you guys have faced a similar issue.
Please let me know if you need any information regading the configuration used.
Looking forward for your valuable comments.
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Joseph Chirayath.

    Hi Will,
I am attaching the screen shot for the END USER on CUCM 9.X that has been configured on Cisco Jabber.
Please do let me know if you need any further information.
    Thank you.

  • REMOTE DESKTOP SERVICES CLIENT ACCESS LICENSES FOR MICROSOFT WINDOWS SERVER 2012 STANDARD AND DATACENTER

I am using a window 7 professional  service pack 1 and I purchase REMOTE DESKTOP SERVICES CLIENT ACCESS LICENSES FOR MICROSOFT WINDOWS SERVER 2012 STANDARD AND DATACENTER. but  the seller did not send me any installation CD or instruction
    on how to use it.
Please how can I use it on my window 7 professional  service pack 1.
    Thank you.

Though Bill is absolutely correct for most CALs, Remote Desktop Services does have its own special licensing server.  I haven't installed one on 2012, yet, but here is a step-by-step guide for 2008.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd983943(v=ws.10).aspx
Here is a lab guide for 2012 -
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj134160.aspx
But, the explanation of your environment begs the question - what are you trying to do?  You say you have a desktop OS and you are talking about Windows Server products.  In that light, your question does not make a lot of sense.

  • How to create a security role to delegate package creation and deployment?

    Hi,
I am new to SCCM 2012 and I would like to delegate packaging and deployment based on an AD container and user. For example, I have a US-SCCM-Admin account created in the US OU in Active Directory. I also have computers in the US Computers OU in AD. I am
not sure what settings I need so that the US-SCCM-Admin account only has rights to create and deploy packages to the US OU and no where else? I added US-SCCM-Admin security group from AD to the "Administrative Users" group in SCCM. But now I need
to configure a role for this group but I am not sure which one to copy or import? I tried copying the "Application Deployment Manager" role and renaming it appropriately but when I login to SCCM as this user, they dont have the option to create or
deploy packages? Does anyone have a simple step by step on this or explanation on what to do to delegate package creation and deployment based on the user in an AD group? TIA

The Application Deployment Manager role is only allowed to deploy an already existing application. You would have to use the
    Application Administrator role instead.

  • Sap script creation for SO & PO

external subroutine creation for displaying Sales Order & Purchase Order scheduling details in the SAP script.

    Hi Shazia,
we can create SO,PO..etc through ABAP proxy.
in proxy program you have to call BAP_PO_create...etc function module.
please check the follwoing information regaring proxy.
Proxy generation enables you to create proxies in application systems. Proxies encapsulate the creation or parsing of XML messages and the communication with the relevant runtime components required to send or receive the messages. The proxy runtime controls these processes and can itself be controlled in application programs by means of additional methods.
Since the communication between the sender and receiver is decoupled, you can use proxies to exchange messages with various different communication parties, and also by using adapters. However, this section of the documentation only discusses the programming model for the proxy runtime.

  • Best Practice/Validation for deploying a Package to Azure

Before deploying a package to Azure, What kind of best practice/Validation can be done to know the Package compatibility with Azure Enviroment?

What do you mean by the compatibility of the azure package with the azure environment? what do you want to validate? would be great if you provide bit of a background for your question.
As far as the deployment best practice is concerned, the usual way is to upload your azure cloud service deployment package and configuration files (*.cspkg and *.cscfg) to the blob container first and upload it to the cloud service by referring from uploaded
container. This will not only give you flexibility to keep different versions of your deployments which you can use to roll back entire service but also the process of the deployment will be comparatively faster than that of deploying from VS or by uploading
    manually from file system.

I am not so sure any more, that it is a JDBC problem. Though, it is possible, because I could not find any ojdbc6.jar for Oracle 10.2.0.4. [http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/htdocs/jdbc_10201.html]
We use WebLogic 10.3, and it requires Java *6*. That is why I thought, that it would be good to find an ojdbc6.jar for this Oracle version.
I tried to run the application with ojdbc14.jar and ojdbc6.jar. Interestingly, the results were the same. (I had to use the ojdbc6.jar, that was released for Oracle 11.1.0.7.0)
Yes, Vijay, I do think, that I should contact the WebLogic support team. Anyway, we use AIX LPARs (logical machines on a PowerPC). The application is installed in my home directory. What is more, the same home directory is mounted on all LPARS. So, the application is always mounted through a kind of logical network. But the WebLogic Server is not in my home directory. So, the WebLogic and the application are not in the same fs.
