10.9.3: Not able to log onto other networks than mine at home and Go Daddy outgoing mail not sending (smtp)

A week ago my go daddy email stopped working as it would receive but not send. It's an imap account and hence it would not connect to the smtp server when attemting to send. Incoming imap server works well. When trying to use a network outside my home, I discovered that I cannot log into other networks than my own any longer. Email and wifi on my phone works all fine. I have been on the phone with Apple and Go Daddy for 3 hours altogher, tried different solutions such as deleting anti virus software, deleting and resetting email account, tried different port versions etc to no avail. Since I can still not log on to other networks, I am suspecting it be an operating system error? Has anyone experienced a similar problem or has a possible solution please?

My Iphone 4 is telling me the same thing and I believe I figured out what the problem is. I had some fraudulent charges on my itunes account, so I call my bank and disputed the charges. Right after I did that, I started getting the message "Your apple ID has been disabled." I just realized today that the charges are not fraudulent, they are "in app purchases." One of my daughters downloaded the game Top Girl which is FREE, but in the game Top Girl you use money in the game to purchase things. It just so happens that the money you use to purchase things is real money MY Money!!!. My daughter thought she was using play money in the game and had no idea she was using real money. She spent $106.00 buying stuff. Now I have to call the bank and tell them to release the hold and pay Itunes. I'm hoping this solves the problem. I am able to log onto my work wifi network but my Iphone keeps disconnecting - requiring me to re-enter my username and password to rejoin the network continuoulsy. Is there a solution to this?

Thanks, checked all of that at work. It seems from other users I am not alone. Hopefully the updated IOS will fix this. In the meantime, a considerable inconvenience.

Problem with Windows 98 logging onto wireless network

I have a unique issue that I am having some issues trying to fix. I have a
PC that is running Windows 98SE that connects to the network via a Cisco
Aironet 350 wireless card. I removed this card from another PC and it was
working fine a week and a half ago. I place this card in the other PC and
install the drivers and Novell Client 3.40 and I can't log onto the
network. The PC can associate to the AP though. I can also put in a regular
10/100 ethernet card and get on the network. We use 128-bit WEP encryption.
I have checked my WEP key and it's correct. I have set the client
properties based on another PC that is connected so that shouldn't be the
issue. I have 15 other PC's with the same card and client version that are
getting on the network just fine. Also when we look at our AP through the
web interface, in a column where it usually lists the authenticated
machine's IP addresses, it only says Unassigned for this machine. I am at a
loss of where to go next with this issue. I have been looking around not
only Novell's site but Cisco's as well and no dice there.I would truly
appreciate any help anyone could give me.

Bound applies to Protocols in general. (W9x versions, Not XP)
Open "Network". (You can right click "Network Neighborhood", select
Properties or use the control panel)
Inspect the "Properties" for each adapter listed on the Configuration
Tab.
Do Not change anything at this time, and ALWAYS choose CANCEL for
safety . Once you have it figured, you will make and save changes :)
There are 3 groups of entries. Clients,Services,Protocols.
You choose to "Bind" a particular protocol(s) to a adapter(part of the
Adapters properties).
Not all protocols need be bound to the SAME adapter (nor is it
desired). Example: Bind PPOE to dial-up, TCP/IP to the Wireless
adapter, IPX to the 10-100T WIRED adapter. << Example, do NOT really
do this.
802.11 wireless DOES NOT support the IPX protocol. If your printers
use IPX (only), then you will need a Print Queue on the server for
that printer and PRINT to that PRINT Q from the wireless (or IP only)
devices.

Start with getting a Internet connection to work.
That will also indicate that TCP/IP is working.
When you don't use DHCP, you have to do everything (settings)
yourself, CORRECTLY :^)
IP (no clash with existing stations)
Subnet mask, same as every one else on the network.
Gateway the A/P
DNS as needed, one should be your ISP's suggested.
Is the A/P correctly configured for your Non-DHCP network?
*AND* are you sure you have the proper adapter drivers for W98(se)????

My iphone 4 (ios5) has stopped letting me log onto any website which requires a username and password. They have all worked in the past but have stopped working. My iPad is fine.
It happens if i am connected to wifi or 3g.
Has anyone else suffered this?
I have restarted the phone and done a backup and restore.
Any advice would help.

Sorted it. In settings - safari - privacy was set not to accept any cookies. I have changed that to accept from visited. Now working ok again.

Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (and Clear History)
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

The other user and the Administrator work fine. What has disabled the one user? How do I recover this user and its files?

No.. I have been through parental control and it does not affect this problem. Now if I log onto this user I cannot get out even with a comman/option/escape; I have to unplug the power to the computer to get it to restart with the administrator. I saw somewhere that there is a process in which I can delete the use and then create a new user with the same name and password and then recover everything - but I cannot find that solution. This is a real problem for me, as you might imagine.

Problem with email settings after trying to log onto secure network...

i was trying to access a network at work. when the "found networks" screen popped up, i selected the secured and then tried to enter the key. the IT guy didn't think it would work because he needed to know the mac address, but we tried it anyway.
apparently, we mis-typed the key, and shortly there after, the phone locked up (the screen would freeze). i plugged it into the computer to reset and eventually the phone would wake up and seemed to be ok, but i noticed that the phone was REALLY slow. also, when i unplugged the phone from my computer, if i put it to sleep, it wouldn't wake up and i would have to plug it back in to the computer to get the screen to show again (it could have just been slow to respond).
So, after dealing with the panic that my phone was defective, i decided to "restore" the phone. During the process, it asked if i wanted to restore from backup or "install as new" or something like that. thinking back to the nightmare activation period, i choose restore from backup. now, everything seems to be working ok, but when i try to send email, i get a "server doesn't recognize my email address" message. btw, i can receive email messages from my isp. i didn't have this problem before and can't help but wonder that something with that previous attempt to connect to that secure network is causing some problem...
i know this is a long message, but i tried to include all pertinant information in the hopes of someone being able to offer some suggestions. i guess my next stop will be the apple genius.

^ What he said. You can try changing the outgoing mail server to cwmx.com as well, just to see if that helps you out. If it does, it's most likely not connecting to the WiFi, rather it's using EDGE as that's an AT&T/Cingular (one entity?) server.

How to get my mac to log onto my network FIRST

When I start my MacBookAir (Yosemite 10.10.2) it always tries to log on to my neighbors network initially instead of mine. It lists the networks in alphabetical order as as mine starts with an "S", I always have to select it from the list. What is the simplest way to correct this?

Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi in left side panel > Advanced button > drag networks into the order you prefer (and/or delete the other network if it is one you never use). Also, you can elect to remember the networks the computer has joined so it will log in automatically.

In older MacOS's you could tell WiFi to only use trusted networks. My problem is that in my neighborhood there are lots of WiFi users and my airport network is always trying to use one of them (even though the signal strength is the same). The most annoying is Comcast, which seems to show up the most. I have Comcast for TV etc., but have the WiFi feature disabled on the modem. I want more control. Yesterday it got on one of my neighbors that isn't even secure?

1. Have you ticked to "Ask to join new networks" ??
2. Have you deleted all the other possible wireless networks from your listing.
The network which should be the first in the list will be the one that is connected first. But we find it is best to empty the list.
Maybe also check to require admin authorisation to change networks.
Other than those things nothing else is offered..
I have many wireless networks here and I have not seen the issue even on Mavericks.. but if any OS is going to give you grief Mavericks is the one.

HT1277 Mac Mail receiving but not sending. smtp not working

I have been using Mac Mail with my Gmail account without any trouble for the last few years and just for the last 2-3 weeks I cannot send any e-mails. I am receiving without any problems, but no matter what I do it won't send, not even an e-mail to myself. My Calendar is set up to send my notifications and those won't even go. I have verified my settings (time and time again), I deleted and reset-up my account, in the last two weeks I have done everything I can, but can't figure it out so I am getting kind of desperate. I am sure that it is something to do with smtp but all of my settings for that are right too (in accordance to the Gmail and Apple sites). What I have done is just read and responded to my e-mails (when I do it offline) and then I have to log into my gmail account and copy/paste ALL of my e-mails manually, which I am sure you can imagine is extremely inefficient. Thank you to anyone who can help!

Here is a screen shot too, not that it says much, but this is what I always get, no matter the settings (since they are all correct! OH! I guess I should also mention that I currently live in Africa and that I am using my Blackberry Bold as a modem to get internet on my computer, but I have been doing that since last year and never had a problem until now.
Also, I did just very recently (as in a couple weeks ago), insert a new modem to my computer to try a second method of getting the internet on my computer other than my phone, and it didn't really work so I am back to just the phone again... would that simple installation have anything to do with Mail not sending e-mail? I can't imagine that it would, But I have seen stranger things.

Mac not sending SMTP email

I really need some input from someone who have seen strange behavior between the interaction of a Mac G5, Entourage 2004 and SonicWall firewall. All of
a sudden one of our Mac have encountered a sending issue with Entourage client. The Mac is able to receive emails, email with attachment fine both from inside and outside the company. The problem is when the user tries to
send email especially with attachment; it takes a long time to send. For attachment less than 100 kbyte, it takes half hour to receive it. If we try to send just email, it probably takes about 5 to 10 minutes to receive it. Any attachments over 100 byte, it just get stuck in the Outbox.
Troubleshoot I have done so far:
1. Test the user account in question on a Windows workstation and the mailbox works fine.
2. Tested on another G4 Mac, same problem with sending attachment. There is no A/V install on the G4 Mac either.
3. Try sending text and graphical attachments, it will not send if anything over 100 kbyte. If I send an attachment say like 35 kbyte, it takes half
hour to receive it.
Conclusion, its looks like the problem lies just with Mac. Would there be something I have not done on the SBS? If so, why did it all of a sudden stop sending emails? I am stumped.
We have SBS 2003, SBS SP1, and Exchange SP2
Mac is set to receive IP automatically via Ethernet port. I have try configure encourage to connect via IMAP and Exchange but the problem still persist.
If you anyone have any insight at all, I would really appreciate if you can share your ideas.

Changed the MTU settings and also instead of using a dual NIC as load balance, I switched back to using one NIC and things are working back to normal.
