10.9 link a Contact to an iCal appointment?

I want to link the information from Contacts to my Ical appointments, but can't find a way to do this.
Help?

I was looking to have it input the physical address information not the contact name & email address.
This way it would input the physical address in the Location field.
When I use my calendar app on my phone it is done this way, so I thought Thunderbird would be capable of the same function.

I am in the process of setting up new contacts in the icloud. I have two iPhone4s, both with 5.0.1 iOS. One allows me to edit a contact by linking that contact to another contact, the other iphone Contacts doesn't give me that option.

Make sure Contacts is switched on in Settings > iCloud on both iPhones.

click on the contact which you want to integrate, click the edit button scroll down u will find a option called link contacts use it to link it to the duplicate contact

"Error "This serial number is not for a qualifying product." I've checked my account and the product serial number is associated with my account., so I don't see any problem. Linking one Contact Preson to many customers for e-Commerce for ERP

Hi,
On the e-Commerce for ERP I have a need of linking one Contact Person with Many Customers.
The requirement is that one user will be given access to e-Commerce Application, this user should be allowed to create orders for multiple SoldTos. So as soon as the contact person will logon s/he will be asked to choose the SoldTo and so will be able to create orders for that SoldTos. s/he can then logoff and relogin to choose 2nd soldTo to create order for this one.
But now I am not able to find a way to link a contact person to other customers. Am not sure if above will be possible or not. Can you guide me how that can be done.

Use Business-On_Behalf scenario for external customers. - When a user (for example, agent) can act on behalf of several customers, the system cannot automatically determine the customer from the user ID. In order for the agent to be able to choose the customer for whom he or she is currently working in the Web shop, special settings are required.

This is NOT what we (most of us) want to do ... We want to have the information from our contact(s) automatically be available in the calendar event. If we "invite" the contact, they get to see and are asked to respond (accept / decline / maybe) ... NOT always something we want. For example, I am going to an event and I want to remember their face (what they look like - maybe I've only met them once awhile ago), their spouses name, children or business profile / items and I don't want them to know I have made this one of my agenda items for the event. If I entered all this including their profile picture in contacts, I certainly don't want to enter it all again AND BTW, iCal doesn't really have the proper fields for this information anyway. Sure I can use the notes section but this is double entry. As you can see from just this one example, I would not want to invite them to this calendar entry. I can think of many other instances where that would be problematical (to say the leasat) as well.
It is really incomprehansible that contact, iCal and even mail does not have at least this level of integration.

How can I make sure linked in contacts are only added once?

For some reason the linkedin contacts are appearing endlessly in my mac address book. Every time I delete they come back - Very annoying especially since I have to delete folders manually one by one. How can I make sure linked in contacts only added once? And how can I delete from mac address book in one go?

If you installed software from LinkedIn to synchronize the contacts, refer to the developer for support. Otherwise, how did you import the contacts?

Is it possible to transfer outlook Calendar and Contacts across to iCal and Address Book

I am a recent convert to iMac from Windows and would like to transfer my calendar and contact details to iCal and Address Book rather than manual enter them. Is this possible?

I don't have an answer for you unfortunately, however I am seeing a similar issue. I posted a thread about this specific to Outlook 14.2.1 syncing to iCal 5.0 via OS X Lion (10.7). Adding information on what platform(s) you are working on may be a help in getting this resolved and in addition you can watch the thread I posted if you are on the same OS X as me as I am having issues syncing from Outlook to iCal on all Mac devices. How to extract,list of users linked as contact person to which customer?

Is it possible to extract from CRM production system a complete list showing which users are
linked as contact persons to which customers?
As you can imagine it is top critical that customer users are never linked to any other customer accounts than their own, so we need to implement a regular validation of these relationships. With our number of customers and users it is impossible to check one-by-one in CRM, but with following information in a regularly provided list, it would be reasonably easy:
Customer BP
Customer name
Customer Sales Office
Contact person BP
Contact person name
Contact person user ID
Date of relationship creation
Please advice.

Hi Pravin,
The information you need is available in three tables/visions:
- BUT000 - For BP numbers and names
- BUT050 - For BP relationships (BUR001 is the one for contact person)
- CRMV_BP_FRG0140 - For sales office (you have to use partner_guid field)
I don't know any standard report that will delivery this information as this. But based on this tables, you can build your own, or make a sap query/quickviewer to get this information.

I need to have two time zones on the same iCal appointment

I work accross four time zones, two of which do not observe Daylight Saving Time (DST). This means that when I'm booking my flights on iCal, it would be usefull to have two time zones in the same iCal appointment (Outlook, for instance, allows this). What I currently do is to choose one of the time zones as the iCal appointment and then I "translate" the other time to the one I'm using on iCal.
This is quite a challenge, though:
if I'm taking a flight from Luanda (WAT = GMT+1, no DST) to London (GMT with DST) I would like to book it on iCal exactly like it shows on the ticket , 21:00 (WAT) to 06:00 (GMT).
Using the "translated approach", from May to October, this means 21:00 (GMT) to 06:00 (GMT).
Using the same approach, from November to April it means from 20:00 (GMT) to 06:00 (GMT).
If I include Jo'burg (CAT = GMT+2, no DST) and Frankfurt (GMT+1 with DST), booking flights in your calendar becomes quite a challenge!
Does anyone know if this feature is planned for any future versions of iCal?

This is not possible in iCal. The nearest thing would be to create two events, one for take off and one for landing.
Also, this is a user to user forum. By posting here you are not guaranteed someone from Apple will read it. If you'd like Apple to know about your suggestion I reccommend you send them feedback.

ICal links to contacts and maps

Is there any way of linking an iCal event to contacts or maps?
Eg. I've just booked a weekend in a hotel that appears in my contacts, is there a way to link the event to that contact. And also, if I create an event and then put the address/postcode in the location box, this is not 'clickable' to open up maps on the iPhone.

I'd like this too. On my Palm I used DateBk which would let you link calendar entries to the address book - so you get 'Ring Tom Smith' as a calendar entry, with a link next to it that opens up Tom Smith's phone number etc.
Seems a very basic requirement for a diary/calendar, but does not seem to be present in iCal. Nearest I can get is to drag an Address Book entry into iCal, but this tries to set up a meeting and send the person an email invitation!

I am creating an event in iCal. I want to use an existing contacts name as the title of the event and their address as the 'where'. I don't want to use the invite tab. Some will not have email addresses anyway. I want to do this on my iPad. Anyone know of an App that will help. Thanks.

This only works if your iCal is linked to a calendar server.
To do this you need to go to iCal/Prefernces/Accounts and follow the explanations.

Can I sync Address Book and iCal to put contact info into iCal?

I use Address Book as a contact/customer list and use iCal to prepare my schedule for work. I usually type in the name of the customer I want to see in iCal. Is there anyway to import or drag names out of Address Book into iCal so the location & contact info will be included? I don't want to invite the customer. I just want to input the info into iCal so I don't have retype a name that is already in my Address Book.
If I have customer "xxx" in Adress Book and I am planning on visiting this customer tomorrow. Is there anyway for me to transfer/import this info to iCal without physically typing "xxx"? When I look at my appointment I would love to see the contact info for "xxx" in iCal when I click on individual appointments.

You can link to the Address Book entry with a URL. See my script +Link to Address Book+ on this page http://www.nhoj.co.uk/applescripts/ which creates a link from the currently selected person in Address Book. These can then be added to the URL field in iCal or the notes field if you have more than one per event.

Link an email to an iCal event

I would like to link an email message in Mail to an iCal event. Under Lion, the only way to do this seems to be to drag the email out of Mail and into a separate folder on the hard drive. Then drag the icon of that mail message to the url section of the event in iCal. Surprisingly, there does not seem to be any way to make a direct link between a message in Mail and an iCal event. If so, this is quite a major oversight and I am keen to know if others are concerned and/or have any solutions to propose.

Open the event in edit mode. If you double click it and the buttons 'Edit' and 'Done' appear you need to click 'Edit', if the only button is 'Done' it is already in edit mode.
When you drag the email over the grey event edit window a plus icon with a green background should appear. Drag it until the cursor is over the word 'none' next to where it says 'url'.
If it works the text 'none' will change into a hyperlink saying 'Show in Mail…'.
