10.9 Mavericks bug in Amperage Reading in ioreg

$ ioreg -l -w0 |grep Amperage
    | |           "LegacyBatteryInfo" = {"Amperage"=18446744073709550900,"Flags"=4,"Capacity"=6429,"Current"=1330,"Volt age"=7423,"Cycle Count"=28}
    | |           "InstantAmperage" = 64797
    | |           "Amperage" = 18446744073709550900
A lot of battery reading programs are reading the InstantAmperage flag and reporting it. You can also see that  "Amperage" is wrong too by a lot. The problem is that is is reading incorrectly as shown.

    I found the solution to a Mavericks bug on the Mail program. How can I share it? Several of my mail boxes stopped functioning properly when I updated to Mavericks. The title of the mails stored in the mailbox appear, but the content was unavailable.
    After 4 long hours at the phone with the Apple staff unable to help me, I discovered that if I change the name of the mailbox, the contents of the mails stored there become available.
    Please, make this solution available to other people!

    You have found the the way to share it.   Include your problem and its solution in a forum post in the Mavericks forums.   Then mark you own post with a green solved star.

  • Unresolved bug in adobe reader x with non-default windows zoom level

    This seems to have already been brought up here about a year ago: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/776060.
    I am using Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with Firefox 12.0 and Adobe Reader 10.1.3. Here is a description of the problem:
    Whenever I open any PDF file in a browser (firefox or IE) using the adobe reader I am unable to select text, save the file or interact with the content in any meaningful way because the plugin does not recognise my cursor position. If I click on some text in a PDF document, the reader will immediately highlight a region of text between where I clicked and where it thinks I started clicking from (above 20% of the screen above and to the left of where I actually clicked on the page). If I roll my mouse over the region where the dashboard normally appears, the dash does appear as intended and the cursor changes in response to hover over buttons, as if everything were working, but I am unable to click on anything (clicking does nothing). If I click and hold the dashboard when it appears, it immediately jumps to another region of the page, as if it thinks I moved the mouse (20% up and to the left again). I have recently reformatted and am now using a fresh install, and the issue remains. My desktop zoom level in windows is 150%. The problem appears only inside the browser; viewing PDFs directly in Acrobat Reader X works without issue.
    I can resolve the problem either of two ways:
    a) Reverting back to the default windows zoom level (125%).
    b) right-clicking on the Adobe Reader X icon, navigating to the compatibility tab and clicking "Disable Display Scaling on high DPI settings"
    The workaround is easy but it's disappointing that adobe hasn't fixed this. Please consider that it would mostly affect individuals who are vision impaired and might not have the know-how to resolve the problem or check for solutions online, let alone post comments such as this. As far as I can tell this problem severely impaires the functionality of adobe in any browser on any non-standard zoom windows installation.

    Please be sure to post your issue in the following Feature Request/Bug Report Form.

  • Bug in Adobe Reader when displaying lines?

    Hi there!
    I'm creating a complex document with Apache FOP, using tables with visible and hidden borders. Although, all lines have the same attributes, Adobe Reader renders them in different thikness. In the FOP forum, there has been a lot of discussions about this issue. Conclusion is, that it is not supposed to be a FOP bug. Some other readers render the created documents well. You might want to read about it here: http://apache-fop.1065347.n5.nabble.com/Cell-border-rendering-error-thicker-with-number-co lumn-spanned-tp17999p37229.html. Displaying on screen, it is possible to avoid this by not using "Enhance thin lines". However, printed documents allways show these lines in different thikness. To avoid this being a FOP bug, there is a simple example document, producing the bug with Adobe Reader. It can be found here: http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/xmlgraphics-fop-users/201211.mbox/raw/%3c5095C97A .[email protected]%3e/2. The document is hand crafted. To see the issue, turn on "Enhance thin lines" and try different zoom values. If this document contains incorrect contents, I'll be happy, if you let me know.
    Regards.

    You will not get a response from the bug report but they DO read the reports and use them to make future updates.
    I notice a lot of the other issues reported here have not been responded to either.
    Is that the normal process?
    I haven't noticed that at all. In fact, most posts here get results as long as the poster gives enough details. Keep in mind that the answers are coming from fellow users and it is not an official avenue to contact Adobe personnel.

    I click on the launcher and nothing happens, 15 min later it will tell cant connect to the server.
    My computer is a windows 8.1; 64 bit operating system. I am stationed in South Korea, but that should not affect the program. Help please.

    Hi johnd83157268,
    Sorry for the inconvenience that has caused to you.
    Could you please let me know what changes have you made in the registry.
    You might need to uninstall Adobe Reader from Control Panel and try install it again from the following link:
    Adobe Reader Install for all versions
    Please ensure that you are logged in as administrator and anti-virus is disabled as that might interrupt installation.
    Try again and then let me know.

  • I want to download the Maverick OS but have read a lot of negative reviews

    I want to download the new Maverick OS but have read a lot of negative reviews about people losing everything on their machine. Am I better off getting the Lion or Mountain Lion OS? The main reason I need to upgrade the OS is to support the AirPort Time Machine I recently purchased so I can back everything up on my computer. Without the new OS I can't use the Time Machine but don't want to lose everything before I've had a chance to back it up.

    What nonsense, how about some facts to go with that.
    The discussions have quite a few of these already very well documented.
    "Crapware" is tied to usage patterns and user behavior. In most cases, a user has a problem, and is tempted to find a 'fix' which results in "crapware" being allowed on the machine. Gatekeeper can only block so much.
    In general, every Software Update after a release is fixing shortcomings which are left in the original release. There are no new features in 10.9.1-10.9.5, are there? 10.10 has new features, so 10.9.1-10.9.5 are all patches on 10.9.0.
    The current issues with iOS8 (although unrelated to Macs) are not making anyone feel warm and fuzzy.
    iTunes 11.4 broke many device syncs, does not install correctly. Is it part of Mavericks? Maybe.
    Older hardware can be upgraded to Mavericks as noted here - OS X Mavericks - Technical Specifications
    but performance is worse than the OS that originally came with the machine. For example, on a 2.2G/2010 MBP with a 5400rpm drive, SL, Lion, ML perform much better than Mavericks.
    Two specific functions that are important were broken (The VPN issues required a switch to Cisco AnyConnect instead of the built-in VPN).
    From About the OS X Mavericks v10.9.2 Update
    Fixes an issue that may cause audio distortion on certain Macs
    Fixes an issue that may cause VPN connections to disconnect
    There are lots of WiFi issues with 10.9.0 through 10.9.5. For example - OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 Update
    Fixes an issue that prevented some Macs from automatically connecting to known Wi-Fi networks
    Improves the reliability of wake from sleep.

  • Is there a place to report mavericks bugs to  in order to solve them?

    For example...in launchpad all the app icons are missing...showing me just the text under!
    Where can I report this sort of problems?

    Here, because that is not a bug in Mavericks, rather a problem arising from upgrading an existing system that is dysfunctional. I recommend that you reinstall Mavericks and see if the problem isn't fixed. You can report legitimate problems, that is problems that not only exist on your system but others as well, to:

(SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.

  • Mavericks bugs: open in new tab, slow type, slow Safari, slow wake

    I just upgraded to Mavericks in order to get Pages, which I needed for a project. Otherwise, Lion was working fine. Now, Safari seems slow, it often won't do the open in new tab click, it's slow sometimes when typing things in the web address area, and it has a slow wake-up (everything hangs there in black for a few before it finally wakes up). There's probably more, but those are the problems I've run into so far. Are these bugs that Apple is fixing soon? (Hopefully?!)

  • Contribute 6.5 on Maverick Bug? (can't update news page)

    Adobe - is there a bug with Contribute 6.5 on Apple Maverick ?
    I use 6.5 to update my web page news page - but since the Maverick update I can no longer 'post a draft page'.
    Contribute 6.5 opens and its downloads a darft of the news page in Contribute 6.5 here on my laptop - I make alterations updates and then submit the new content but this is as far as it goes (contribute says its saved the draft but its like the page is a ghost and the original news page remains as it is untouched).
    I did contact Adobe before Christmas re this subject - but there has been no follow up.
    Any ideas?
    Jp

    So this from Adobe today:
    I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Our product team knows about the Mavericks incompatibility issue with Contribute and they are working on it as soon as we will have any updates regarding the patch you will be updated about it.

  • Mail search bug- learn to read quickly!

    Hi all
    One bug that is driving me wild- and it happens on my Mavericks iMac AND my Mavericks Macbook Pro, so it is not machine specific.
    If I search in Mail for an address or a word using the Spotlight, it returns the results fine, but after about 10 seconds the results all disappear- even if you have selected an email you want to read. The search then needs to be carried out again.
    I have tried rebuilding the mailboxes, done a repair permissions, and a clean using Onyx. The problem keeps coming back.
    Anyone else experienced this?

    Yes, I did a complete erase and clean install on one machine and upgraded over the top of Mountain Lion on the other. Both have the same frustrating symptom.

  • OSX Mavericks Bug (Preview app)

    Just upgraded to Mavericks today morning...
    I opened a bunch of pdfs using Preview, and I clicked on the search field to search for a word...Whenever I start typing, Preview crashes...
    Then I looked into it and found out....it crashes when there is a '-' in the search criteria or when there are more than 18 characters...(though I'm not sure about it, its my assumption)
    Have any of you experienced the same? And what can I do about it
    Thanks,

  • How can I open the right URL in PDF?It's like a bug in adobe reader.

    In my case, the PDF in our company always have a DOI on it, which is a URL can lead the reader to the article’s website page. But we found out that the URL in the PDF wouldn't show the link completely, If the URL is http://dx.doi.org/10.6310/jog.2009.4(3).3 in PDF, and I click the link, it will link to http://dx.doi.org/10.6310/jog.2009.4 . It is a big problem that would take the reader to the meaningless page. And it seems a bug, because the url is Ok if I use PDF-Viewer to open it. Can you help us to deal with this problem? Thank you.

    Parsing parentheses in a URL is a problem for Reader and Office as well. It's not a good idea to use parentheses in URLs for that reason. Some older browsers will even have trouble with them.
    The URL I get from that link is: http://www.airitilibrary.com/Publication/alDetailedMesh?DocID=P20140124001-200912-20140128 0011-201401280011-93-102
    Why not just use that?

  • Bug in Acrobat Reader 8 & 9? "Actual size" not actual size

    When I choose to view a PDF in "actual size" using Adobe Acrobat Reader 8 or 9, it is NOT actual size.  Under Acrobat Reader 7, it WAS actual size.
    For example, if I go to the properties of the document and find out that it is supposed to be an 8.5 x 11 document, the document on screen is not 8.5 x 11.
    This used to work under Acrobat 7, but doesn't work under Acrobat 8 or 9.  It used to be that you could hold an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper up to your monitor and the size of the image on screen was exactly 8.5 x 11, but now if I do the same thing, the size on the monitor does not match the actual size of the paper.
    Is this a bug or something else?

    The screen size is 17" and the current resolution is 1024 x 1280 (it is in "portrait" mode), but it happens at every resolution I've tested.

  • Is there a bug in Adobe Reader for Unix?

    I have the most recent version of Reader as of November 2010 (I think it's 9.4.3). PDFs downloaded from the Federal Direct Loan Servicing Center (student loans) are not working right. (This affects students in the United States.) I don't know if it's their mistake or a bug, but the DL center is not answering emails!
    So I hope someone can tell me if this is a bug:
    When I open the PDF, there is a *toolbar* to Show/Hide forms.
    I choose to *Show forms*.
    Only *some* fields are fillable, others are not!
    Also, when I *tab* though the fields, it tabs in a completely *mixed-up order*.
    Does anyone know if this is a bug? Or do you know if the DL center makes their forms wrong?
    Thanks!

    Hi Terry,
    For step 3, the reason might be that certain fields in the PDF is not being recognized as form fields by Acrobat/Reader or their properties make them non-fillable.
    For step 4, I can comment more in case I get the pdf
    Can the PDF form in question be shared?
    If yes, please email it to adharATadobeDOTcom

  • Bug in Adobe Reader when opening PDF's in a sharepoint library

    I can consistently reproduce this problem.
    A document library containing pdf's where the number of items exceeds the list view threshold.
    The documents are locked and checked out to another user.
    When a non-admin user clicks the pdf link, the following CAML query is sent to the server (presumably to see which user has the document checked out) - *However this CAML query fails because the list view threshold is exceeded*
    Here is an example of the caml query adobe generates
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"><SOAP-ENV:Body><GetListItems xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/"><listName>{27277C40-B0FD-4E3C-9709-93434DDCCB95}</listName>

    </Eq>
    </Where>
    </Query>
    </query>
    <queryOptions><QueryOptions><IncludeMandatoryColumns>FALSE</IncludeMan datoryColumns>
    <Folder>Account Documents</Folder>
    </QueryOptions>
    </queryOptions>
    <viewFields><ViewFields><FieldRef Name="IsCheckedoutToLocal"/>
    <FieldRef Name="CheckoutUser"/>
    </ViewFields>
    </viewFields>
    <viewName></viewName>
    </GetListItems>
    </SOAP-ENV:Body>
    </SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
    HTTP 500 - List view threshold exceeeded.
    This is a bug in adobe and needs to be fixed.
    The final error is "The URL you have provided cannot be reached".
    Expected behavior - the document opens in read only mode because it is locked (and also because we are using reader and can't edit it)
    I see no reason for Reader to send a query to determine who has the document checked out.

    You will not get a response from the bug report but they DO read the reports and use them to make future updates.
    I notice a lot of the other issues reported here have not been responded to either.
