1080P 60FPS in CS4?

I recently got a gopro and shot in 60 FPS at 1080 the other day for the first time.  I searched high and low but Premiere Pro CS4 doesnt seem to have a setting to deal with it.  Any fixes other than a 4 hour preview render?

When CS4 came out there were no GoPro's.

  • What frame rate timeline should I use for 1080p 60fps premiere pro

When using 1080p 60fps clips what sequence should I use when creating a timeline that would work the best for slow mo application?
I read that you should use a 24 fps timeline but i'm not sure?
Also I have a few 720 @ 120 fps, should I create a separate sequence for that and what kind of timeline should I use since cs5 only has 1080 @ 60fps option?

24 is a good frame rate for most animations but some people like 30 and for the max stress on user systems and animation smoothness, use 60.

  • Premiere Pro CC, Project / sequence settings help with GoPro 1080p / 60fps

    Hi all,
I have just started using Premiere Pro CC with the GoPro Hero3+ black edition, but my video's, once exported do not look very smooth and clean like HD video should?
The video settings on the GoPro are 1080p / 60fps, narrow view (protune off), I then import these .MP4 video files into PP CC and use these sequence settings:
    29.97fps
    1920 x 1080 / 16:9
    Square pixels (1.0)
    No fields (progressive scan)
    30 fps drop-frame timecode
Preview file format: I-Frame only MPEG
    Maximum bit depth
So, my question is, should my sequence settings be at 60fps to match the 60fps I used to capture the video with? How should I edit 1080p / 60fps video in order to get nice clean, smooth HD video playback on youtube?
    My export settings are:
    H.264
    1920 x 1080
    29.94
    Progressive
    Square pixels (1.0)
    NTSC
    Profile: Main
    Level: 5.1
    Render at maximum depth
    VBR, 2 pass
    Target Mbps: 40
    Max Mbps: 50
Keyframe distance box checked and says: 90
    Use maximum render quality

    What do you think?
Any help would be very much appreciated!
    Kind regards,

No problem. When you click sequence > sequence settings, what does your editing mode say? I use AVCHD 1080p square pixel. You can change this to 'custom' which will give you more control over the settings if you need to, but if you use the method I described earlier then you shouldn't need to change anything. Maybe if some of your videos are 2.7k or 4k resolution mixed with 1080p videos then you could play with the settings.
Just remember that if you start a new project and have for example, four videos shot at 1080p and one at 4k, if you drag and drop the 4k video to the 'new item' bin then your sequence will match the 4k resolution settings and when you drag the other 1080p videos on the sequence time line, they will not fill the screen and would need to be 'scaled' in to fit the screen, thus making them look terrible. The best way would be to drag n drop the 1080p video(s) and then include the 4k video on the timeline and just 'scale' / 'crop' it to fit the screen.
    All the best!

  • Presets for Pana TM700K 1080P 60FPS

Does anyone know for PP CS5 what are the best presets or how to customize to the best preset?  The input is AVCHD @ 1080P 60FPS.  None of the existing presets seem right.   But I'm new so maybe I missed it.

    Hello,
Can you please tell me the details for working with Adobe Premier Pro CS 5 if the video was captured on HG mode?
I know it is 1920X1080 but it does not explain if this progressive or interlaced.

  • 1080p 60fps- 720p 60fps AIC?

I Have 1080p 60fps (from my canon 7d) and i would like to compress it to 720 and keep 60fps, but the highest compressor goes is 50fps. How can i keep my 60fps?
    Thanks
    Phine.

Are you looking at the camera settings or the footage you have on your computer?
    The 7D shoots 1920x1080 at 30p(29.97), 24p(23.976), 25p; 1280x720 at 60p(59.94), 50p; 640x480 at 60p(59.94), 50p

I think you may be confusing fields per second with frames per second. How did you bring in your footage? Is there a specific reason your using AIC?

  • Cannot change compound clip settings from 1080P 60fps to 1080i 25fps

Hi. I created a compound clip, which for some reason ended up with settings of 1080P 60fps (probably because I added a music track first before any video and just used the automatic settings). After editing a whole sequence and exporting a master file, I realized the settings had been wrong. All my footage is 1080i 25fps.
Only thing is when I tried to change the compound clip settings, I only had other progressive options available. I could not change it to 1080i.
I had to create a brand new Compound Clip with 1080i 25 and paste the clips from the original CC into the new CC. Only thing was a music track was now out of sync with the video (presumably because the fps value in the original CC did not match the footage). I had to retime the audio track to around 99% speed to fit to the video clips again!
Why could I not change the CC settings directly?
    Thanks

The compound clip is acting like a project. You can never change the timebase of project once there's media in it. You should copy and paste into a new compound clip if you can.

  • 1080p 60fps Export Options

I could really use some help. I have some footage filmed in 1080p 60fps from a Canon XA20. I have a timeline ready to export in Premiere Pro CC, but I don't have a clue what type of file I need to export. I simply need to be able to play the file to a TV this evening and I plan on using my computer to do so.
What is the best recommendation at this point? I get lost with all of the different file types, containers and so on.
    Thank you for your help!

I'm able to play the footage straight from the camcorder to the TV.  Does that answer the question?
I'm playing the file straight from my computer because I don't have a Blu-ray burner and I assume I can't export the file to a DVD disc.  The timeline is 45 minutes and I don't know what data rate a DVD disc can handle in regard to HD footage.
I'd love some thoughts.  I need to have the file ready to go within the next few hours or so.  The footage is from a vacation and the group that went is getting together tonight.
    Thank you!

  • Camileo X-sports - no thumbnail files using 1080p 60fps

    Hi everyone:
I've recently bought the camileo x-sports. It's a nice camera but i found one problem with it:
It is supposed that with every video or photo that it takes, it creates simultaneously anoher smaller sized file, named as "thm".
The problem is that my x-sports does not create that file for videos in 1080p 60 fps, but it does for 30fps.
Whats the problem with it?, i tried solving it updating the firmware, but it did not result.
    Thank you for your time.
    Enrique.

The thm file extension means thumbnail image file and this is a quick snapshot of your video.
Besides the original recorded video file (VID00001.mp4) a smaller sized video file (VID00001_thm.mp4) will be created during video recording.
This file will be used for faster video content transfer with your WiFi APP from the camera to your tablet / smartphone device and further to upload your videos and photos to social networks with your WiFi APP.
Obviously the snapshot isnt created due to the double frame rate and I guess this happens because the 60fps file is much bigger and probably 30fps videos file quality is good enough to watch it on your tablet / smartphone or for upload to social networks, etc

  • Vertical Bars in 1080p video (PP CS4)

I recently shot some footage on a newer camcorder capable of recording 1080p footage, and the footage recorded as MP4.  When I import directly into PP CS4, I choose the 'AVCHD 1080p30' present.  The video imports as it should into the project, and displays as it should in the Source Monitor, but when I move the footage to the timeline, the Program Monitor's output shows vertical bars around the footage.  I should also note that I've only used the AVCHD preset because I'm not 100% how to simply start a new timeline that's 'just 1080p30.'
The Timeline's resolution and source video's resolution are both 1080p.
When I export the final video, I still see the vertical bars.
    Any insights?

Ann, I had a look into your suggestion, and no such option exists in my Mac system preferences.
As a side thought, I imported some regular (non-HD) footage into Premiere, and matched up the settings, and I don't have this problem.

  • Adobe Premiere CS5 - Editing 1080p 60fps?

    Hi There,
I just purchased a Sanyo Xacti FH1A HD camcorder that is capable of shooting 1080p at 60FPS.  I have not yet found a video editing suite that allows you to natively edit at this frame rate.  Does anyone know if CS5, or some other package supports this type of file?
    Thanks!

I must admit, I'm actually kind of surprised that worked! With the various MPEG-based cameras that seem to be sprouting like dandelions, it's sort of a crap shoot when it comes to finding decent support in an NLE. Glad it worked for you.
I would check your files using something like GSpot or MediaInfo (the Properties panel in Premiere might actually tell you, too) to determine the true framerate of these clips. I looked at the Sanyo website, and the specs said "60fps" and not specifically "59.94fps". Since these camcorders are anything but broadcast standard, it would not be surprising if they were indeed shooting at 60fps. It seems like a minor point, but using the 60fps clips in a 59.94fps sequence will result in Premiere doing some pretty awful things with interpolated/blended frames; whenever possible, it's best to match your footage frame rate with your sequence frame rate.

  • XBR-65X800B 1080p 60fps Issue

I've noticed that 60fps sources aren't quite 60fps on my new Bravia XBR-65X800B. I've MotionFlow turned off. If I turn MotionFlow on then the framerate looks right but then I get artifacting with the image. I've been testing with Dark Souls II running on the PlayStation 4. I've tested it with a 60" Samsung 1080p and it looks just fine. Could this be an issue with the TV upscaling or some other processing? Is there some sort of base setting where I can disable all extraneous TV processing? I'm pretty sure I have everything turned off but I still can't get a smooth 60fps output.

    Hi EvaUnit02,
    Welcome to the Sony Community!
    Please try the following steps:
Kindly use a high speed HDMI cable ( if available ).
    Set Motion flow to Clear.

  • 1080P 60FPS (AVCHD 2.0) and Sony NEX-5N

I want to work with the video files I'm capturing with my new camera.  I have Premiere Elements 9.   When I start a new project, there are no profiles under DLSR or AVCHD that match the specs I'm shooting at.
I can choose 720P 60FPS and it loads and plays smoothly in the project window, but I'm concerned I'm going to lose something when I render the final output.
Does Premiere 10 have more up to date AVCHD profiles?  Do I have to upgrade and spend another $80 to use this software (or downgrade my video shooting specs)?
    Any insight would be appreciated.

A while back I hacked the Preset XML files to add some custom video-modes (this was before Adobe officially supported 1280x720 24fps and 1920x1080 24fps) to Premiere Elements 7 and Premiere Elements 8.  I created a video-editing preset for 1920 x 1080 60p (and 50p.)
Although it seemed to work, it turns it that creating the 1080p60 editing preset wasn't really necessary.  Just create a video-project using the 1920x1080 30p preset (or even the 1920x1080 30 interlaced.)  When you edit 1080p60 source videos in the project, the editing-accuracy will be +/- 2 frames instead of +/-1 frame-edit.  (So you lose single-frame accuracy, but unless you're doing a lot of short-action splices, it's not a big loss.)  However, Premiere's editing-engine preserves all the frames in the source-video, out to the final render.
So in simple terms, your output video will retain all the frames of the source video.  The output-video won't be degraded to 30fps; every frame will be there and it'll be true 60p.
Unfortunately, there are some practical problems.  For one thing, only 1-2 of Adobe's video export options support 1920x1080p60.  AVCHD 2.0 isn't supported, so you there's no way to export your edited video back to 1080p60 AVCHD footage.  The only option is
    (1) export to Windows Media Video (it does support 1080p60, but you have to play around with the advanced options to select this frame-rate and fps...it's not one of the built-in presets.)
    (2) MPEG/H264 (MPEG-4) - this requires a little effort to get to
Share -> Export -> "Mobile Phones and Players" -> "iPod and iPhone"
Then click on "Advanced Properties", and manually change these settings:
        Level:  4.2
         Profile: High
Frame Rate [fps] = 59.94  (yes, that's the correct rate for NTSC)
         Frame Width 1920
         Frame Height 1080
          TV Standard NTSC
         Bitrate settings
Bitrate Encoding:  CBR   (VBR has never worked correctly for me)
Bitrate [Mbps] : 28Mbps   (lower number takes up less space, higher number has better quality)
         Select Key Frame Distance
Key frame Distance: 30 frames  (higher number takes up less space, lower number has better random access)
    Hope that helps...
I'm still on Premiere Elements 9.   I may download the Trial for 10, and hack together the editing-preset for 1080p50/60.
    [edit]
My post was wrong.  In Premiere Elements 10, it's easy to create your own MPEG-4 file-export for 1080p50/60.  Just go to "Share -> Computer -> AVCHD", then select one of the "MP4" presets.  Example: "MP4 - H264 1920x1080p 30". Enter the "Advanced Properties", and change the settings as I showed above.

  • So youtube html5 vidoes don't show resolutions over 720p anymore for some reason, even though yesterday i could watch 1080p 60fps just fine. Anyone know why?

Title pretty mutch sums it up. At youtube's html5 page Media source extensions and MSE & H.264 are not checked even though they were prior to this day(or atleast one of them was. My short term memory sucks). Now its back to having only 360p and 720p as the aviable resolutions. So i tried to search if mozilla changed something in the latest 36 beta 8 patch (which updated for me today), but didn't find anything. I Also tried to install 36 beta 7 but it didnt have any effect on the problem. So is the problem at Mozilla side (they changed something that i dont know?), or is just me? It all just seems so weird to me...

hello Keula, MSE was disabled again in firefox 36 beta 7 since it caused widespread stability issues (bug 1129039).
if you didn't have any problems in this regard, you can manually reenable it: enter '''about:config''' into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named '''media.mediasource.enabled''', double-click it and change its value to '''true'''.

  • Capturing 1080P 60fps Aja Kona 3G speeding video up

First time posting... hopefully it can be solved because I am at wits end.
I am looking to capture 1080P60 off of an iPhone through HDMI using and HD-SDI converter with the Aja Kona 3G card (it saves it as an MOV format in Premiere). The capture portion in Premiere works great until it hits 12 GB of RAM and then the video speeds up disproportionally until the end of the capture/offload to HDD. This usually happens about 30-40 seconds in.  I know this is an extremely hot signal coming off but that is what I need. I know it’s not a RAM or system issue because it is a blazing machine with plenty of RAM and HDD space using RAID0. When I try to capture 720P video it records the video fine until around 18 GB of RAM and then does the same thing. Is there some limitation to the format I am using or capture or is it something I am doing wrong? The card doesn’t have many settings to change an input signal in Premiere so to me options are limited…
    System:
    Intel I7-3.20 GHz
    10TB RAID0
    64GB RAM
    Aja Kona 3G capture card

I have never seen an issue like this. The best thing I can suggest is to get in contact with AJA tech support. They are very knowledgeable and helpful with issues like this. Good luck.

  • Sanyo iFrame vs 1080p

None of the sites I look to for cam data have updated to include the FH1a or the HD2000a (they only refer to the pre-a versions) so I've recorded a 16 second clip with iFrame and 1080p and have them available for download for 5 days (or until bandwidth gives out). They're over 40 megs each (yeah, both of them are).
    iFrame
    http://files.me.com/makentosh/nk0e0u.mov
    1080p (60fps)
    http://files.me.com/makentosh/of0hf5.mov
The FIRST thing you're likely to notice is that the 1080p file is actually smaller than the 540p one. Also, I trimmed both of these using QuickTime X which saved them as .mov. They may work happily with iMovie, OR they may force the creation of the AIC converted file. I can reup as .mp4's if anyone wants to see that.
Does anyone know what's "special" about iFrame? There's been discussion that it's an intraframe codec, but can you tell from looking at the file?

Other than trimming to make sure they're both the same time length to get a better feel of the relative file sizes, I've not performed any other editing. All of Samsung's many modes shot as mpeg4 video (which is another thing I like about this cam). I'd thought that anything that's not iFrame would need to be converted to AIC. Can you tell if iMovie's representation of the iFrame content (internally) is any different from the 1080p? I haven't done that level of investigation myself as I'm not familiar with how iMovie stores files, but now's a good time to learn!
I didn't do import tests with this video, but with others I thought I did note a slightly longer import time with the 1080p, but those clips weren't as controlled as these. I'll try again.
I did notice that the updated "a" version of this camera doesn't include the "Video stabilization limitation" under Additional Compatibility Information on the iMovie compatibility page
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3290
This leads me to think that they're doing some kind of shenanigans with the content so that it's less affected by motion. I shot a really edge case video (monitor, in the dark, twisting the camera like a screwdriver) and I could just discern some "jello-ness". My normal video appears to stabilize quite well.
I'd like to see a review versus the FH1. From the reviews for that camera, it does appear they've made other minor changes, not just a new image size (starts faster, interface changed, etc.)
