10g Streams able to handle lots of data?

Does anyone know if 10g Streams is able to handle large amounts of data? For example, millions of rows inserted by a batch data load? Or, 4000 tables being updated at the same time? 600 users on source db?
BTW, both databases will be Oracle 10g but source will be a RAC and the destination won't. Also, source database uses ASM disks but destination doesn't.

Hello,
Here is a simple example, of course here I only create one value per iteration in the while loop for simplicity. You can also set properties of the file which can be useful, and set up different channels.
Beside, you can use multiple groups to have more flexibility in data storage. You can think of channels like columns, and groups as sheets in Excel, so you see this way your data when you import the tdms file into Excel.
I hope it helps, of course there are much more advanced features with TDMS files, read the help docs!

I know there is a migration assistant, but I have multiple drives in my pc.  Will the migration assistant be able to handle this?  I'm going to be trying to move the date to a new imac 27' with fusion drive.

the following set of instructions is a little longer, so you might want to print it out and have it handy
    Step 1 - PC
If your PC already is connected to the Internet, hold down the Windows button on
your keyboard and simultanously press R. Into the opening window enter "cmd" (without
the quotation marks). A command line will open, enter "ipconfig" (again without the
quotation marks) at the prompt. Now find the section labelled "Ethernet-Adaptor" and
note the values for IP-Address, Subnet-Mask and Default-Gateway on a sheet of paper
If your PC is not already connected to the internet, you need to manually configure its IP address.
    open Network and Sharing Center
do a right click on Ethernet and select Properties
in middle of the screen there is a box labelled "This connection uses the following items"
out of this box select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)"
click on the Properties button in the right corner
Into the window "Use the following IP address" enter the following values
    IP-Address: 192.168.0.1
    Subnet-Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default-Gateway is the IP-Address of your Router. This value is needed for internet connection, for the file sharing setup only this value can be left empty.
    Step 2 - Mac
If your Mac already is connected to the internet, it is likely that it has automatically receive the necessary parameters from your router and therefore should be in the same network as your PC. To be on the safe side, you can check this by
    open System Preferences
    select Network
choose Ethernet from the panel on the left side of the window
    click on Advanced
    click on TCP/IP
compare the values for IP-Address, Subnet-Mask and Default-Gateway with those you wrote down earlier.
If both PC and Mac have identical numbers in the first three parts of the IP-Address, you are set.
If your Mac is not already connected to the internet, you need to manually configure its IP-Address as well.
In the TCP/IP window you have just opened select "Manually" from the drop down menu "Configure IPv4:"
    Enter the following values
    IP-Address: 192.168.0.2
    Subnet-Mask: same as with PC
    Default-Gateway: same as with PC
Step 3 - Activate File Sharing on PC
    open Control Panel
    select Network and Internet
    select Network and Sharing Center
on the left panel select change advanced sharing settings
in the middle of the new page enable turn on file and printer sharing
Step 4 - Activate File Sharing on Mac
    open System Preferences
    select Sharing
set check mark next to File Sharing (green circle appears on the right side next to File Sharing:)
    click on Options:
set check mark next to Share files and folders using SMB
in the listbox under the text Windows File Sharing make sure there is a check mark next to your account name
Step 5 - Create a share on your PC
In Explorer select the folder you wish to share
do a right click on that folder and select "Share with"
    choose "Specific people"
a new window opens. there select your Windows username (usually the first in the list)
if you plan to copy from Windows to Mac only, it would be sufficient to grant Read permission only, but, since most likely you are the only person to access that share and certainly do not plan to sabotage yourself, Read & Write permission is ok too.
    finally click on "Share"
Step 6 - Create a share on your Mac
Once the check mark next to your account name is set (see above) your home directory is automatically set as a share.
Step 7 - Connect your PC to your Mac-Share
do a right click on the network icon which resides on your desktop or in the left
    panel of every Explorer window
    Select Connect Share
in the text box next to Folder: enter \\<ip-address-of-your-mac>\<your-osx-username>
if you are using the same username and password on both Windows and OSX click on "Finish",
if not set the check mark next to "Connect using different credentials" afterwards click on "Finish" A new window will open where you enter username and password that you are using with OSX
Step 8 - Connect your Mac to your PC-Share
hold down the command key and press K simultanously or in Finder click on Go in the menu at the top of your screen and select "Connect to Server"
in the Window that opens enter smb://<your-windows-username>:<your-windows-password>@<ip-address-of-your-PC/<y our-windows-username>
    or
smb://<ip-adress-of-your-PC/<your-windows-username> you will be asked to enter your Windows username and password in popup window
Now you have both computers connected to each other. Each will provide you access to your home directory of the other computer. Open a second Explorer or Finder window with your local home directory and start copying

  • My mac book air (mountain OS X ) mid 2011 consuming a lots of data .....

My mac book air consuming a lots of data per hour ... Even if am not browsing too it's automatically consuming ...how can I stop it ? It's losing like 1 GB per hour ...kindly help me to recover it ...I am new to mac book air ...thank u

I think you mean that it's using network bandwidth.
Any client on a wireless network, including clients you don't know about, could be consuming bandwidth. Networks must be protected with WPA2 security. If yours isn't, change the security setting on the access point. If it's already set that way, change the password. Make it a string of at least 8 random characters, including digits and upper- and lower-case letters. The password is saved in the keychain and you don't have to be able remember it; in fact, you shouldn't be able to remember it.
You make these changes in AirPort Utility, if the access point is an Apple device, or in a web browser otherwise.
If the network or the password was insecure, and bandwidth use returns to normal after securing it, you can be pretty sure the problem was caused by intruders.
But intrusion may not be the issue. Most often BitTorrent, iCloud or some other cloud-data application is involved in cases of mysterious bandwidth use by a Mac. If you use iCloud, uncheck at least Photo Stream and Documents & Data in its preference pane and see whether there's any change. If you use third-party network backup software, disable that. If you use a torrent client, remove it.
Otherwise, there's no easy way to monitor network usage per process using built-in tools. If you're an advanced user and you want to try, see the manual page for the nettop(1) shell command. It may or may not provide the information you're looking for.
The third-party products Rubbernet and Little Snitch are supposed to record network usage by processes. I can't vouch for them. Both were available as free trials, the last time I checked. I suggest you uninstall either one when the question has been answered.

  • Always used 1 main account.  Started using individual user accounts. So how do I use software or applications with a lot of data like Quicken under my own user account?

I recently upgraded our family's mac to OS X.  I thought this was the perfect time to create and use "user accounts".  We had always used 1 main account.  So how do I use software or applications with a lot of data like Quicken under my own user account?  I wanted to be able to manage my own itunes library, iphone apps, messages.  But I still really need to use the Stuff I have in Quicken essentials.  I don't want to have to restart all my work done in Quicken already.

I haven't used Quicken in a while, but most applications store your files in your Documents folder. Is that where your Quicken data file is? What you do next depends on how many family members need to get at that data.
If multiple family members need to use the Quicken data file, try moving it to the Documents folder in the Shared account. That is an account that all accounts can see. It's at the same level as the other accounts. In other words, Shared is one level up from your Home account, or Hard Drive/Users/Shared.
If you're the only one allowed to see that Quicken data, move the Quicken data file from the old main account to your account, and don't leave a copy behind. You can use the Shared folder as a way station for the transfer since you won't be able to see both accounts' Documents folders at the same time (because you're not allowed to peek into other people's accounts). Or you can use another disk or server for the transfer, as long as you can get to it when logged into either account.

  • Shared Photo Streams pushed to device over cellular data

    Hi,
I created today three shared photo streams in iPhoto and all of a sudden my iPhone started getting very hot and battery being drained quickly (it's an oldish 3GS, and the battery level was decreasing even though the iPhone was connected to the charger...).
In a nutshell: it seems that whilst data from the "ordinary" Photo Stream are uploaded/downloaded only when the device is connected to a wi-fi netwrok, if you have shared Photo Streams enabled on a iOS 6 device, picture data in these photo streams are "pushed" to the device also over cellular data, regardless of any other setting.
Apart draining the battery very fast, this may lead to using inadvertently a lot of data traffic in your data plan.
Did anyone notice a similar behavior and find out how to prevent it, apart disabling Shared Photo Streams alltogether, of course, i.e. did anyone find a a way to ensure shared photo streams are pushed to the device only under wi-fi?
    cheers
    -gianpiero

I suppose you could disable Shared Photo Steam while you are at cellular network and enable it again when you are at a wi-fi environment.   In Settings>iCloud>Photo Stream> turn Shared Photo Stream to Off.
The pop up warning tells you that this will delete all shared photos from your device.  What it doesn't say is, since shared photo stream remains stored in iCloud, all you shared and shared with you photo streams will be push back to your device once you enable Shared Photo Steam in wi-fi.  The downside of course is if you have a lot of photos in your shared photo steams, it will take some time to download them.  But at least you know for sure your cellular data is not affected.
Btw, Shared Photo Steams doesn't count towards iCloud storage, just like Photo Steams.  Maybe That's why turning off iCloud document doesn't affect shared photo steams.

  • Best way to fill a datagird with A LOT of data?

What's the best way to fill a datagrid with A LOT of data.
I'm talking about something like 10,000 rows. Can the datagrid
handle it? No screen is large enough to show 10,000 records..... is
there a way to load 50, and then when a user scrolls down it loads
    the next 50 etc...?

Right. It's not recommended that you load 10,000 rows into
the datagrid at once. Using the data management service with paging
enabled is a much better solution. See the Configuring the Data
Management Service chapter in the Flex2 Developer's Guide for more

  • Handle task attachment data

    Hello all,
I've defined a user task which returns, when completed, some XML data placed in attachment node. However I'm not able to handle such data from BPEL process, no mather what XPath expresion I use.
For example: if returned task has the following content:
    <task>
    <attachment><node><child>somedata</child><anotherchild>somedata</anotherchild></node>
    </attachment>
    </task>
¿What XPath expression should I use to extract content of <child> element?
    Thanks.

    Thanks Mike,
I was adding xml stuff into attachment data as a java.lang.String, I also solved this problem by using org.w3c.dom.Document instead. When the attachment is included as org.w3c.dom.Document object, BPEL process manager is able to browse the xml data with XPath.
    Bye.

  • Migrate Single Node 10g STreams to Multi Node RAC

We are currently running 10g STreams. One capture process enqueing LCR into one queue. Propagation job dequeues messages and propagates them to a Destination queue. Then our Apply process at Destination database dequeues and apply changes.
We have developed a single shell script STREAMSsetup.sh that does all the magic on setting up streams (capture, apply, propagator and the table queues.)
Now, we are in the process of designing our new Horizontal architecture with Oracle RAC. We envision it is going to be a Data Guard Migration from Single node to the RAC environment.
My question is, can we just let Data Guard takes care of that, expecting all Streams pieces will be in place within the RAC environment? OR do you recomment we remove all streams configuration and re-run our magic script STREAMSsetup.sh to set everything up again once migrated to the RAC environment. ???
I now Streams follows an Instance Owner rule when it comes to where Capture or Apply will be started or stoped.
I would appreciate if someone have had any experience with this type of migration provide any feedback.
    Thanks,
    Arqui

Yes, we are opening an SR. Everything is pointing into the direction of recreating Streams configuration from RAC/ASM environment once migrated, using the instance with the lowest Instance number in the Cluster. That instance will be registered as the Primary instance owner of the Buffer queue. If primary instance fails queue ownership is transferred automatically to the next instance in the cluster and capture is started automatically in the other node.
    Thanks,
    ARqui

  • Need to instance to be able to handle 30000 users.

    Hi all,
I need to install oracle 10g release2 rdbms with one instance. Now the condition is this instance should be able to handle 30000 user sessions.Which parameters are directly responsible for number of user sessions.Precisely which parameters are to change to accept more number of users sessions. If you could suggest some value ..it would be helpful.
    regds,
    AD

Is that 30,000 concurrent user sessions?
Some of the considerations will be the type of load - DML intensive or query intensive. If short duration DML, then you may want to look at Shared Server as a method of reducing or containing resources. In which case dispatchers, circuits and shared server parameters are relevant.
If these sessions are concurrent, you may want to look at RAC to distribute the load across several host computers. IN which case the entire set of RAC parameters become relevant.
With 10g Release 2, you would possibly want to take advantage of the automatic memory tuning capability to get you out of detailed memory parameter management. Otherwise all parameters that involve the SGA and PGA, especially the pools, become relevant.
Other than that, the processes parameter and (the normally derived) session parameter are relevant.
IMO, the logical and physical design will have a significant impact on the number of users - possibly more impact than parameter settings. I refer you to Tom Kyte's books (see http://www.apress.com) to get a detailed discussion of scalable design.

  • Display lots of Data produces error

    Hi there,
I am experiencing an issue and strongly believe will get some pointers/solution to resolve this issue over here.
I am using disco 10g with oracle 9i.
I created a report using disco. Plus. the report works fine and returns the results successfully when run with a defined set of parameter values.
However if I run the report with increased parameter values [i.e. select more customers and select more quotes] I get the error message
The application encountered an invalid state.
    - Session closed
OracleBI Discoverer Viewer was unable to find the necessary data for displaying the results of this event. Please correct any errors and try again.
What would be the possible reason for this error message. Is it because it returns lot more data for the second report than the first report with the a defined set values.
Will appreciate all your help on this issue.
    Best Regards,
    Manish

    Hi Manish
As Rod mentions this could be that you are out of memory. Memory is the single-most important resource you can give to Discoverer. If you don't have enough your system will either crash or will run dreadfully slow.
Here's some background information that might help:
As already stated, for your middle-tier, the single-most important resource is memory. CPU count is important but nowhere near as important as your available RAM. You should therefore go for the maximum RAM you can afford or at least get a machine that is capable of being extended. In the following two scenarios, let's look at a situation where we have 100 concurrent users.
The requirements change depending upon whether the 100 concurrent users will be using Plus or if there will be a mix of Plus and Viewer. I will therefore give you two scenarios. For both scenarios you will need to add the following base memory:
    Base memory:
The operating system will need 300 Mb and you will need to allocate 800 Mb for the middle-tier and AS Control components. Thus, you need 1.1 GB just to get the machine up and running.
    Scenario 1: 100 Plus users
For each Plus user you will need to have 85 Mb available. This comes to 8.5 GB to which you must add the 1.1 GB for the base memory making an intermediate total of 9.6 GB. However, this must be no more than 85% of the available memory. Thus you actually need 11.3 GB which is very close to 12 GB. Because this would give you very little room to grow, as Discoverer will, you will be ok starting with 12 GB but you should buy a machine that is capable of being extended to 16 GB. Because every 4 GB RAM needs one CPU, the machine also needs 4 CPU.
Scenario 2: 40 Plus and 60 Viewer users
Once again for each Plus user you will need to have 85 Mb available. This comes to 3.4 GB. For each Viewer user you will need to have 15 Mb available, meaning you need 900 Mb for your Viewer users. Adding these two numbers to your base memory means you have an intermediate total of 5.4 GB. Again, this must be no more than 85% of the available memory. Thus you actually need 6.4 GB which is well under an initial 8 GB. Because this gives you lots of room to grow, as Discoverer will, I would say you will be ok starting with 8 GB but you should buy a machine that is capable of being extended to 12 GB. Because every 4 GB RAM needs one CPU, 4 CPU is too high for this scenario and you should be ok to start with a 2 CPU machine, although 3 CPU would be better.
    Does this help?
    Regards
    Michael

  • FCP X able to handle 50p?

Is Final Cut Pro X able to handle 50p, i.e. 50 frames (for PAL)? I have a new Sony Handycam, the HDR-XR160E (avchd), and it works with iMovie and Final Cut Pro 7 for 25p or 50i, but both are not able to ingest 50p.

it's odd that FCP still can't work with the format
It can. I cut that format daily. Have cut that format for years.
A simple multiclip of 4 clips of HD footage crashes my system upwards of 20 times per day.
What format? Where is this media stored? How much RAM do you have? Those are all factors. YOu cannot cut 4 streams of ProRes 422 HQ with an iMac and a firewire drive.
Is there NLE software (besides AVID) that can cut full-rez HD footage?
FCP, Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas, Grass Valley Edius, iMovie...Avid
Because FCP just isn't cutting it anymore.
Then you are doing something wrong. Because there are thousands of us cutting full raster, full res 1920x1080 HD on a daily basis.

  • Able to handle eg fightgame?

    Hi,
is cocomo able to handle ...for example a little fightgame
like streetfighter with 2 seperate flash-clients?
    will it be fast enough?

    Hi Psirus88,
This is a tough question to answer as it depends on things
that are outside of our control (e.g. network connection,
complexity of your shared model and the amount of data you intend
to send across our service, and social interactions - how your code
and design accounts for intermittent latency/congestion in the
    network, which happens).
Games today, like World of Warcraft and Halo, don't even have
the sophisticated level of player-to-player interaction that you
would require for a game like Streetfighter (e.g. reacting to users
moves then blocking, counter punches, etc.) which are ALL very
important and requires sub-second reactions from the user. I can't
predict how this would work with Cocomo, but it should be fast
enough for MUDs (where WoW in my opinion is just a graphic
intensive MUD), and certainly turn-based games.
    Thanks,
    Fang

I am being asked to upgrade to iCloud Drive but indications are that I will not be able to access up to date details on any of my documents on my Mac without going into iCloud first.  Have I got this interpretation right or can I save changes to access the new versions on my iMac?

    That is Apple's statement:
Using iWork with iCloud Drive - Apple Support
    Options for iWork customers
You can upgrade to iCloud Drive today if you want to keep your documents up to date in iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite, and you want to use the iWork web apps on iCloud.com and the Share via iCloud feature.
You can upgrade to iCloud Drive later if you want to keep your documents up to date with your apps on iOS 7 or earlier and OS X Mavericks or earlier.
    Upgrade to iCloud Drive today
To access the most recent versions of your documents from a Mac with OS X Mavericks or earlier, you’ll need to go to iCloud.com and access Pages, Numbers, and Keynote from there. On a PC, you can install iCloud for Windows and set up iCloud Drive.
If you upgrade to iCloud Drive now:
Your documents will keep up to date across devices with iOS 8, Macs with OS X Yosemite, PCs with iCloud for Windows, and iCloud.com.
Your documents will no longer keep up to date on devices with iOS 7 and Macs with OS X Mavericks or earlier.
You’ll be able to use the iWork web apps on iCloud.com.
You’ll be able to use the Share via iCloud feature with iOS 8, OS X Yosemite, and iCloud.com.
Documents you previously shared via iCloud will be accessible to collaborators.
    Upgrade to iCloud Drive later
Note that until you upgrade your iCloud account to iCloud Drive, you won’t be able to use the iWork web apps on iCloud.com or the Share via iCloud feature.     If you don’t upgrade to iCloud Drive at this time:
Your documents will keep up to date across devices with iOS 8 and across devices with iOS 7 and Macs with OS X Mavericks or earlier.
You won’t be able to use the iWork web apps on iCloud.com.
You won’t be able to use the Share via iCloud feature.
Documents you previously shared via iCloud won’t be accessible to collaborators until you upgrade to iCloud Drive.

    Yes, windows to Mac too.
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.
