11.1.2.1 Planning application creation problem

Hi,
I have a problem creating a planning application. I've tried both the AppWizard and from Workspace. I am able to create a datasource that succesfully validates and when I apply the settings for the Planning application and press Execute it just hangs.
I checked the DB and in Essbase, it does not create any tables in the DB and no application in Essbase :-(
What am I missing??
My system:
Win 2K8 x64 fully updated, EPM version 11.1.2.1 x64 (Foundation (Minus EPMA (obviously!) and Calc Manager), Essbase, Planning), 12 GB RAM, SQL 2K5 SP3 x64, Office 2K10. all in one box.
I managed to replicate the error using a 32Bit OS an RDBMS.
I also checked the logs and the only log that makes any sense to me is: ESSBASE_ODL.LOG
It seems that theres a problem with getting application info from Essbase, but that is strange seem since the datasource was validated and the Essbase is up and running.

Hi again
I just restarted the service (again) and looking in the log shows two things:
1) That there is a warning/Error with the JMX Connectivity
From the log:
<08-07-2011 11:13:28 CEST> <Warning> <JMX> <BEA-149510> <Unable to establish JMX Connectivity with the Adminstration Server AdminServer at <JMXServiceURL:null>.>
BEA-149510: Warning: Unable to establish JMX Connectivity with the Adminstration Server adminServer at adminURL.
Description: This managed server was unable to establish a JMX Connection with the administration server adminServer at the JMX Service URL adminURL.
Cause: This may because the adminstration server is not currently available or may indicate a misconfiguration of the configuration of the adminstrative channels.
Action: If the adminstration sever is currently running the adminstrator should consult the documentation on the configuration of the Administration channel.
2) An error with the locale settings:
Creating rebind thread to RMI
java.util.MissingResourceException: Can't find bundle for base name HspCustomMsgs, locale da_DK
java.util.MissingResourceException: Can't find bundle for base name HspImgs, locale da_DK

  • Planned order creation problem

    Hello everybody,
When I am creating a planned order manually in MD11, I receive the message "Planned order xxxxx will be created".
Then I receive a popup window telling me "Express document 'Update was terminated' ".
But, when I am having a look in MD04 to see the planned order, I can't see it.
It was still okay yesterday morning, but since yesterday afternoon, no more planned orders can be created manually. Do you have an idea about what can be the reason of this?
It's just like if the order creation was delayed... But for how long, and waiting for what???
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Urgent help needed in creation of planning application

    Hi,
Iam new to planning. I installed planning and configured(Created planning instance, Datasource). When i login into workspace and want to create new planning application. The wizard opens correctly. After giving application name, calender, currency type, Plan type, etc... when i click finish to create a new planning application, it says *"An error occured while processing this page. Check the log for detail".* But i observed one thing the application was created in Essbase without Databases and outline. So can anyone explain me wats the exact prob. where I can see the Log details. Help me.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Databases will not be created until you created until you refresh to essbase from within planning, you are not up to that stage yet. Only an essbase application will be created.
What I suggest you do, is delete the essbase application. Then run planning from the start menu and not as a service, this will mean you will get any error messages displayed in the window.
Then try and perform the application creation again and see what errors are produced.
    Cheers

  • Creation of Public Sector Planning application fails for LDAP user

The environment is on Windows 2008 R2 & EPM 11.1.2.2.302 of Planning. The creation of "general" planning applications works fine, regardless of the method of creation, Native User/LDAP User or Classic/EPMA. The creation of Public Sector Planning application using Classic Administration fails when using an LDAP user.
It works when using a Native User. It also works fine if EPMA is used, for both Native as well as LDAP users.
Our developers are not comfortable with EPMA yet, so want/need the ability to create the applications using Classic Administration.
Looking at the Planning sysout log, the only error message indicates a timeout with Calculation Manager:
Calc manager rules initialization failed. Please load and deploy the rules from Calc Manager UI
ERROR:Error while loading rules in Calc Manager. <HTML><HEAD><TITLE>Weblogic Bridge Message</TITLE></HEAD> <BODY><H2>Failure of server APACHE bridge:</H2><P><hr>No backend server available for connection: timed out after 10 seconds or idempotent set to OFF or method not idempotent.<hr> </BODY></HTML>
Calculation Manager itself seems to be working fine.
    Any suggestions/thoughts anyone?
    Thanks,
    Andy

    Hi Vivek,
The LDAP port is open to all the servers in the environment. LDAP users have no issues logging in to any of the tools that they have access to.
I think it has something to do with how Classic Planning passes the security token to Calculation Manager for an LDAP user. For a "general" Planning app, there is no evidence of such a transfer, because the Rules are created after the app has been created. And there the user logs in directly to Calculation Manager to create the rules.
When using EPM Architect, it would lead to reason that such a token is also passed, however, that mechanism does not seem to have any trouble.
This is the first time I am using a pre-packaged application like PSB, and have so far worked with only with "general" Planning apps. Wanted to see if anyone else has created PSB apps using external users successfully, so I can trade environment notes and may be come to a cause/solution.
    Thanks,
    Andy

  • Problem with Hierarchies in BPS- Web-Based Planning Applications

Im trying to use a Web-Based Planning Application in BPS. The Datacolumns consist of a charecterisitc with a hierarchy. this hierarchy is time dependend. The timeframe is set correctly but i still receive an the following error message in my web browser:
"Hierarchy 'Hierarchy_name' is not valid for date 26.06.2004"
Does this error message look familiar to anybody? In the moment I have no clue what went wrong

    Hello Tobias,
I assume you are talking about error message UPC 413 (it always helps to mention the message class and number). Please check table RSHIEDIR. The hierarchy you are using is not valid for the key date you specified (RSHIEDIR-DATEFROM > KEYDATE or RSHIEDIR-DATETO < KEYDATE). If you do not enter a key date in the planning area, the system will always use the system date. So either use a different hierarchy or maintain it differently to be valid on keydate (26.6.2004).

  • Problem in Logging in to planning application in planning desktop

    Dear Gurus,
Today morning I have added the new MSAD, which was previously configured with another IP. I am able to see all the users in the domain. I have given provision to one admin user, opened the Planning desktop and changed the DCOM settings as needed, but the system is not opening the planning application.
I need to open the application so as to refresh the security filters, which I am not being able to do.
I am not able to login to Planning Web with the same user.
I am using 9.2 planning and 9.0 shared services. please suggest accordingly.
    Thanks in advance,

Dear John thank you very much for response.
Domain server have been moved to another location, so IP has changed, I have updated the new IP in the shared services for the same.
Application owner is in the same domain users list. I just updated the DCOM settings.
    Thanks

    Hi,

I think it is something related to DB2 (on a different server), but i don't know what...
Many thanks for any help and kind regards.

    Hi,
It looks like it is around the DB2 set up.
In the errors you posted :-
No default primary tablespace exists for the new table
Unable to create Scehma for application
So maybe it is down to tablespace or permissions
Be sure to see the sections in the installation guide regarding DB2, also any information in the 9.3.1 readme
    Cheers

  • Unable to redeploy Planning application

    Hi,
I am trying to redeploy a planning application and I get the following error:
App Creation failed with Exception: com.hyperion.planning.HspRuntimeException: You cannot delete the required Planning dimensions after deploying. To redeploy single-currency applications, you must include these required Planning dimensions: Scenario, Version, Entity, Account, Period, and Year.

The Application contains the mentioned dimensions. I must mention here that this Application has been deployed since the last two months. I have redeployed it multiple times when additional members were added. The most recent change is an addition of one member in the Account dimension.
Thanks in advance for your help

    Hi John,
Everything was working fine when I had the following patches applied:
    7227802
    7272558
    7305465
I then rolled back the last two patches and applied the other 3 patches that were released before them. So the new set of applied patches (in the order specified) was:
    7227802
    7110941
    7161248
    7209507
    7272558
    7305465
I found that rolling back patch number 7161248 caused the deployment to go ahead without any errors. I can't really explain why this particular patch is causing problems. Do you know if this patch causes any known problems? Should I be doing something else when applying this patch?
    Thanks in advance

  • Creating Planning Application on 9.3.1

I'm new to Hyperion Planning and I've trouble creating an application on Workspace.
I want to create a multi-currencies application. Before I creating the application on Workspace, I've created a database in SQL server and instance, created datasource via Configuration Utility. After creating the SQL database and datasource, I went to Workspace->Navigate->Administer->Classic Application Administration-> Planning Administration. I entered required information and selected corresponding datasource and instance, etc. When I was done, I clicked "finish". However, after a few seconds, an error occurred. The error message is "an error occurred while processing this page. Check the log for more details." I looked through the log files in Hyperion folder. I couldn't find a log which describes Hyperion Planning activities. The login ID I used has "application creation" right in Shared Services.
Does anyone come across similar issue? What are the possible resolution to the problem? What log file does the error message refer to?
Appreciated if someone could shred some light on this.
    Thanks in advanced.

    Hi,
look if the cubes exist in essbase. If they exist delete them and retry to deploy the application.
Is the User in Shared Services Native Directory or is it external authenticated? I had to use one from Native Directory to do that.
    bye Kevin

I suspect that this is caused by an "incorrect" datasource definition when you create a new one.
I noticed that when I created an Essbase DB through the Essbase Enterprise Admin Service, it only allowed me to create one for localhost, not my server name EVEN if when the "Manage Data Source" validated the connection.
This points to one of the myriad of apps inconsistently trying to resolve a server name.
So, in EAS, see if you can connect to your local Essbase install and if successful, use the exact same params for you Workspace Application.
    Hope that helps.

  • Business Rules error when creating new classic planning application in 9.3.

Im trying to create a new planning application using classis planning application wizard in Workspace. everything seems alright untill i gets an error saying "Business rules cant connect to Planning"
other than this Business rules working fine and i can open business rules in other applications and i can access business rules repository in EAS.
    Any thoughts on this ?

Further invesitgation bears this problem out.
Oracle support recommend wrapping the SimpleType in a ComplexType. This does work, but now I have an extra wrapper element to deal with. I either have to use the wrapped type in my other complex, composed Types and/or add an external wrapping element when trying to create Business Services in BPM to call the BusinessRules I've created.
    This is a bit messy.
To be clear, this does not seem to be an issue with Business Rules; the BR editor and generation of Facts (including simple restricted types -> JAXB 2.0/Java Enumerations) seems to work correctly. There seems to be an issue exposing DFs as Services. The code which generated the WSDL and its supporting types seems to choke on restricted SimpleTypes.
As a side note, it seems that HumanTasks have a similar limitation

  • Workspace 9.3.1 Cannot Open Planning Applications

    Hello,
We just moved our Hyperion / Essbase applications from one database server to another. We have debugged almost everything, except we cannot open Planning applications in Workspace. We get a dialog that says, "Opening Planning Application", and the little bar runs back and forth, but never opens the application. Planning works well. We have done the Release 9.3.1 Service Pack 1 (9.3.1.1.00) patch. Does anyone have suggestions on how to correct our problem?
    Thank you,

  • EPM 11.1.1.3 Planning Application Available on 64 BIT Red Hat 5?

    Hi
We want to install Hyperion EPM 11.1.1.3 Planning on RedHat 5-64 Bit and Window 2003 Server 32. I downloaded Planning/Essbase/Foundation Service/FR/WA from Oracle Edelivery for Linux 64 Bit platform. Weblogic 9.2 MP 3 were downloaded as well for Linux 64 Bit.
I have another Windows 2003 server 32 bit, we want to install EPM Architect, FDM, FR Printer Service.
On Linux 64 bit Server, we are going to install Shared Service/Workspace web app/Planning Web Application EAS Web Application /FR Web Application /WA Web Application
When I run installer to check the compoment, I found there are no 64 Bit Component except for Essbase and Administration Server has 32 bit or 64 Bit option.
    1. Can anyone tell me if it is a true that only Essbase and EAS support 64 bit, Shared Service/Workspace web app/Planning Web Application EAS Web Application /FR Web Application /WA Web Application only support 32 bit component.
    2. If I install Shared Service/Workspace web app/Planning Web Application EAS Web Application /FR Web Application /WA Web Application on Linux 64 Bit, Does that have any compatible problem?
We installed Hyperion 11.1.13 Planning 32 Bit one windows 2003 64 Bit Server, it has some problems with EPMA and Planning. I can't launch classic planning applcaiton from Workspace. From 8300 port, we can use classic way to access planning application. Someone said it is startup sequence problem, but I follow up Install ation and Configuraton, It doesn't have any help. From Event viewer, It said it is because 32 bit Oracle not compatible with 64 bit system. How can I fix this problem?
    Regards
    David Wang

    Hi,
Yes according to documentation it supports.
But be very careful with the version of OS and softwares. Oracle will not support if the versions are not supported.
And keep in mind that if you are installing a 32 bit application on a 64 bit OS there are bound to be so many configurations which dont appear to be that clear in the documentation provided. We had to deal with some major issues related to java configurations.
I would recommend you to use an easier option of going with windows.
    Hope this helps.
