11.5.9 to 11.5.10 Upgrade Approach

In anticipation of an impending maelstrom of regulatory changes, I want to upgrade my 11.5.9 EBS environment to 11.5.10 and at least have a hope of being supported. Upgrading to R12 is just not an option at this point, my users are overwhelmed by it. I know that's the best way to go, but it's not going to happen.
I have an 11.5.9 environment on Solaris running on two tiers. The middle-tier serves Web & Forms. The DB Tier serves DB (10.2), CCM, and Reports.
At the same time I upgrade, I want to move my EBS to Linux. I also want to change my configuration so that I am running Web/Forms/CCM/Reports all on the same tier and isolate the DB to it's own node.
My general thought process was:
1. Move the db from Solaris (10.2) to Linux (11.2) using a combination of (362205.1) and (557738.1).
2. Install 11.5.10 on a new node (Linux) and just run the appropriate driver for the 11.5.10 patch against the db on Linux.
Does this seem like a reasonable approach?

Does this seem like a reasonable approach? No, as it is not supported -- You may log a SR to confirm with Oracle Support.
You need to upgrade 11.5.9 to 11.5.10 (or 11.5.10.2) then migrate the database using export/import and the application tier node. Or, migrate the database then upgrade to 11.5.10/11.5.10.2 then migrate the application tier node.

  • FDM & ERPI to FDMEE - Upgrade approach/challenges ?

    Hello,
We are in FDM/ERPI 11.1.2.2.300 (used for loading data from EBS and file systems into HFM 11.1.2.2.300) and planning to upgrade (within the existing environment [in-place upgrade]) to 11.1.2.3. As we see that FDM/ERPI are integrated together as FDMEE in 11.1.2.3, we had big grey area on how FDMEE would function in contrast to disparate FDM/ERPI.
We needed inputs from veterans or anyone who had experienced the upgrade to answer the follwing queries.
    Queries:
[1] We have come to know that FDM and ERPI are integrated together as FDMEE in 11.1.2.3.
[a] Since we have FDM and ERPI as separate components in 11.1.2.2.300, how should FDM and ERPI components be upgraded to FDMEE ? Any specific steps / approach that need to be followed ?
[b] Are there any known issues / challenges involved in upgrading from disparate FDM & ERPI to FDMEE ?
[c] How would ERPI artifacts (of 11.1.2.2.300) function in FDMEE - Are there any specific migration or any manual set-up required post-upgrade (to 11.1.2.3) to have ERPI artifacts (like source system, period mapping, location, import formats, data load mapping etc)      functioning in FDMEE ?
[d] Similarly how would FDM artifacts (from 11.1.2.2.300) function in FDMEE ? Are there any specific migration or manual set-up required post-upgrade (to 11.1.2.3) to have FDM artifacts (like mapping, validation rules etc) functioning in FDMEE ?
[2] Since only ODI 11.1.1.7 is compatible with 11.1.2.3 (from Compatability matrix), how do we upgrade ODI from 11.1.1.6 to 11.1.1.7 ? Are there any patch available to upgrade or should we uninstall ODI 11.1.1.6 and install ODI 11.1.1.7 ?
Any insightful response will be helpful for us as it would help us to gain clarity/confidence and comfort in upgrading to 11.1.2.3.
    Regards,
    Sathish

    hello Sathish
As you are upgrading from 11.1.2.2.300 to EPM 11.1.2.3 (within the existing environment [in-place upgrade]) , it's called Applying maintenance release EPM 11.1.2.3 on EPM 11.1.2.2
[a] when you apply maintenance release , FDM 11.1.2.2 gets upgraded to FDM 11.1.2.3 ,
and ERPi gets upgraded to FDMEE 11.1.2.3
[b] i have not faced any issue while upgrading FDM
[c] please check epm_install.pdf for EPM 11.1.2.3 for upgradation  task for FDM and FDMEE  (see page 257 / 258)

  • Upgrade approach from CRM 5.0 to CRM 7.0 w.r.t ISA applications

    Hi All,
Currently we have a CRM 5.0, ECC 6.0 and NW7.0(+ Apache HTTP server 2.2.3) system landscape, where in we are running the ISA applications on the NW Java instance.
There will be a possible upgrade to CRM 2007.
So what would be the architectural differences during this updgrade with respect to ISA applications?
Will our ISA applications still run properly after the upgrade? what sort of dependecies/compatibilty issues will occur during this process. And what would be the solution approach for it.
Please let me know the necessary points to be taken careoff during the upgrade of CRM 5.0 to CRM2007.
Finally, is CRM2007 = CRM 6.0 or its CRM 7.0?
Please share your valuable inputs on this
    Thanks,
    Aman.

We did a similar upgrade. Very important to note: please follow the Best Practice documentation from SAP. This is very important for the ISA part.
Can you share with us the Best Practice Documentation? Is it a upgrade best practice or upgrade master or something else? Thanks.

  • Upgrade approach - App 10.7/Rdms 7.3.4 to App 11i/Rdms 8i or 9i

We are in what you might call the research phase of our upgrade from Financials 10.7 (GL,AR,AP,CE,PO) to 11i. We would like to know if anyone has thoughts or information regarding a recommended or preferred upgrade path for companies upgrading from Financial Application 10.7/Database 7.3.4 to Financial Application 11i/Database 8i or 9i? More specifically I would like to know if it advisable to take a phased approach utilizing the interoperability patch set so that first the upgrade entails moving the 10.7 application to database 8i. After this step is completed the remaining steps might look like this:
    - Upgrade application to 11
    - Upgrade database to 9i
    - Finally upgrade application to 11i
Any thoughts, documentation or real word examples would be greatly appreciated.

Open an existing 9.2 or 10.0/10.2 portal application as a workspace in Workshop for WebLogic
Import an existing exploded 9.2 or 10.0/10.2 project into Workshop for WebLogic
Import an archived 9.2 or 10.0/10.2 project file into Workshop for WebLogic.

  • SAP BO Upgrade approach

    Dear BO Architects,
I have a Dev, Test & Prod environment in BO 3.1 and working on preparing a plan to upgrade to SAP BO 4.1.
From what I understand, we can perform this in more than one way but I am unsure of the recommended approach.
    1) SAP BO 3.1 Prod to SAP BO 4.1 Prod and then move contents from SAP BO 4.1 Prod to Test to Dev with appropriate testing
    2) SAP BO 3.1 Prod to SAP BO 4.1 Dev and then move contents from SAP BO 4.1 Dev to Test to Prod with appropriate testing
    3) SAP BO 3.1 Dev to SAP BO 4.1 Dev, SAP BO 3.1 Test to SAP BO 4.1 Test, SAP BO 3.1 Prod to SAP BO 4.1 Prod
Can you please advise me on the correct approach?
    Appreciate all the help!
    Regards,
    Vino

    Hi
    1) SAP BO 3.1 Prod to SAP BO 4.1 Prod and then move contents from SAP BO 4.1 Prod to Test to Dev with appropriate testing
Go with this approach if would like to do real time testing. This will import users, Personal reports and inboxes to prod and you could exclude them in your copies to test and dev. This approach will save a lot of migration time since you could do realtime testing. Be careful rights as some additional rights are available in 4.1 and a few have been removed. Note that you have to have a plan as to what exactly you were looking at since you are implementing production first.
    2) SAP BO 3.1 Prod to SAP BO 4.1 Dev and then move contents from SAP BO 4.1 Dev to Test to Prod with appropriate testing
This is only ideal if you have a huge environment with lot of reports and you want to spend more time on tests and validation
    3) SAP BO 3.1 Dev to SAP BO 4.1 Dev, SAP BO 3.1 Test to SAP BO 4.1 Test, SAP BO 3.1 Prod to SAP BO 4.1 Prod
This will work perfectly, But you have to implement the learnt lessons from each step to the next step. If you faced an issue and fixed that during migration from DEV to DEV, you still have to fix the same issue again on test to test and prod to prod
If the environment is not too huge its better to go with Approach 1 and copy the content way back to TEST and DEV selectively.

  • SAP Upgrade Approach document

    Hi
We are looking for a approach document in upgrading ECC 6.0 along with SAP SRM and BI.  If you have come across such document kindly share with me.
    with regards,
    Joseph Anand B

Log onto SAP's internal OSS system and download their methodology from there.  It has the project plans and templates you need.  You can either do it as a stand alone html or through a Solution Manager add-on.  However you must have an internal OSS ID.  If your company is an SAP customer see your IT department manager for the log on info.
Otherwise contact your local SAP representative to get the information.  Your representative or sales person will be able to get you access if your company is supported.

  • Process to Upgrade SAP HANA from SPS06 to SPS07 on distributed systems

    Hi Experts,
We have a requirement to upgrade our SAP HANA system system from SPS06 to SPS07, but I have below queries on the same:
    1) Do we need to consider any Notes before applying the upgrade for pre and post steps (as per my knowledge we have to consider post upgrade note: 1962472, are there any other too?)
    2) As per my knowledge, we just need to stop SAP app systems and then backup of HANA system
    3) Also we have a distributed environment in our landscape (three multiple hosts), what could be the upgrade approach, is it same as like single host environment (as /hana/shared will be the common to all distributed hosts)
Could anyone clarify my questions please.
Also for your information we have BW systems on top of HANA DB
Thanks very much in advance !

    Hi John,
Thank you for the response, our source and target levels are (Source - 1.00.69.00.385196 Target - 1.00.74.03.392810)
I just wanted to ask you one more quick question here, can't we upgrade the above mentioned versions in one go? or we need to upgrade in two steps like, at first upgrading from 1.00.69.00.385196 to 1.00.73.00.389160  and then to target level 1.00.74.03.392810?
Also as you said in distributed environment we can upgrade as same like single host environment, so it same like below approach?
    1) stopping the hana database
    2) navigate to media path and then execute hdblcm in gui or command line
    3) select option upgrading existing system
    4) provide the passwords and system poped-up inputs
    5) select the target levels of HANA components
    6) once upgrade done successfully, then need to upgrade hana client in all app servers
if my above assumption is correct, then I have couple of questions like:
    1) in which host we need to login and perform the upgrade? (as we are having three hosts- HANADB1, HANADB2, HANADB3) , is it okay we can do from any of the three hosts?
    2) Also if upgrade stopped at middle due to errors, do we have option like to start the upgrade from the point where it stop? else we need to restore the lat successful backup and then again need to perform the upgrade from starting point?
Sorry for asking many questions, i have done the upgrade in single host environment, but not on distributed. So wanted to be make sure with all points to action the activity.
Thanks for your help and patience in advance !

  • Technical upgrade from 4.6C MDMP system to ECC 6.0 using CU & UC approach

    Hi SAP Experts,
We are embarking on a project for Technical upgrade from SAP R/3 4.6C MDMP system to ECC 6.0 using the CU & UC approach for our Asian operations (comprising of India, Japan, Taiwan & Singapore).
Please share with me the Best Practices you followed in your projects, checklists, DOs, DONTs, typical problems you encountered and the possible safeguards, any other useful information, etc.
Since very little information is available from Organizations who have used the CU & UC upgrade approach successfully, I am raising this in SDN to share your experiences during the Technical upgrade.
All useful information will be surely awarded with suitable points.
Looking for your invaluable inputs which will be a BIG help for our project.
    Best regards,
    Rajaram

    Hello Rajaram!:
It's a very big project, that you have to do in a lot of steps........

  • 4.7EEx1.10 to ECC6.0 upgrade and Unicode conversion

    Hi Experts,
We are going to initiate the upgrade from next month onwards. Subsequently i have started preparing the plan and strategy for the same.
As our current setup is 4.7EEx110/Win 2003 R2-64 bit/Oracle 10.2.0.4.0 (Non unicode). And we have recently migrated on to this setup from WIn2k 32 bit. Also the current hardware is Unicode compatible.
With respect to strategy for achieving this Upgrade and Unicode conversion, i am planning as follows.
Step 1) Perform Unicode conversion on the current landscape (Both Export/import on the same servers)
Step 2) Setup Temporary landscape as part of Dual maintenance strategy and migrate data from the current systems to temporary systems using backup/restore method.
Step 3) Perform the SAP version upgrade on the current landscape and setup transport routes from temporary to current landscape in order to keep it in sync
Step 4) after successful upgrade, decommission the temporary landscape
Please provide your suggestions and valuable advices if there is anything wrong with my strategy and execution plan.
    Regards,
    Dheeraj

    Hi,
Thanks. As i have already referred these notes as i am seeking advise with respect to my upgrade approach.
However i have planned to perform in the following manner.
    1) Refresh Sandbox with Prod data and perform Upgrade to ECC6.0 EHP5 & subsequently Unicode conversion on the same server (Since both export & Import has to perform on the same hardware as we have recently migrated on this hardware which is Unicode compatible)
    2) Setup temporary landscape for DEv & QAs and establish transport connection to Production system in order to move urgent changes
    3) Keep a track of the changes which have transported during upgrade phase so that the same can be implemented in the upgraded systems i.e. Dev & QAS
    4) After Sandbox Migration and signoff, we will perform Dev & QAS upgrade & unicode conversion on the same hardware (Note: Since these are running on VMware can we export the data from the upgraded system and import on to a new VM?)
    5) Plan for production cutover and Upgrade the Prod system to ECC6.0 Ehp5 and then Unicode conversion. As i am planning to perform upgrade over the weekend and then Unicode conversion activity in the next weekend (Is it a right way?)
My Production setup: DB on one Physical host and CI on separate Virtual host
    6) After the stabilization phase, we are planning for OS & DB upgrade as follows:
          a) Windows upgrade from 2003 R2 to Windows 2008 R2
          b) Oracle Upgrade from 10.2 to 11.2
If anyone thinks that there is anything wrong with my above approach and need changes then please revert.
I have one more doubt as I am going to upgrade 4.7EEx110 (WAS 620, Basis SP64) to ECC6.0 EHp5.As I presume that I can straight away upgrade from the current version to ECC6.0 Ehp5 without installing EHP. Kindly confirm
    Thanks

  • Office 2010 User Settings NOT Migrated After Uninstall-Upgrade to 2013

    Greetings,
We are in the final stages of preparing for an enterprise rollout of Office 2013, upgrading our user base from Office 2010. When we deployed Office 2010, we used the Office scrubber tool to remove Office 2003 and install Office 2010. Employing this same
    technique, which is
fully documented by Microsoft as the recommended approach, the user settings from Office 2010 do not migrate to Office 2013. For example, the default save paths. If you set this to say, "C:\Temp", in Office 2010, that path will be changed
after upgrading to 2013. There are other settings impacted as well and hoping that someone has seen this or knows what might be going on. The method we've used during pilot is an in-place upgrade from 2010 to 2013 and that will retain settings but we also
see cases where the upgrade isn't clean and components of Office 2010 can be left behind. It is critical to a successful deployment that the uninstall-upgrade approach works flawlessly.
    Thanks,
    Doug

    Hi Jori,
There are three types of permissions in the Manage User Permissions in User Profile Service Application(UPS): Create Personal Site, Follow People and Edit Profile and Use Tags and Notes.
If all the three permissions have been revoked from the user, then the user will not existed in the Manage User Permissions in UPS.
So you don’t need to anything else to remove the users from Mange User Permission in UPS after revoking all the permissions from the user.
As for the error when accessing Mange User Permissions in UPS, I recommend to restart the User Profile Service and add the user account to the Administrators of the User Profile Service Application.
In Central Administration, highlight the User Profile Service Application and then click Administrators in the ribbon.
If above cannot work, please provide more error message for the correlation ID in ULS log for further research.
For SharePoint 2013, by default, ULS log is at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS.
    Best regards.

  • Upgrade from OS X Server 10.6.8. to 10.7.

    Hi
I have a mini mac server running 10.6.8. I just recently had to flatten the disc 'cause server was slower than slow. Before I flattend the server I was already running 10.7.3.
Now the problem starts. I booted up with the supplied CD (version 10.6.) deleted the partition and freshly started to install. .....and install....and install. Then I did the usual automatic updates etc. until 10.6.8.
Since I previously bought the App Store update to 10.7. I pulled it down again for installation but now I get the message "You can't use this version of the application Server with this version of Mac OS x. You have 10.6.8. The application requires 10.7. or later......
What am I doing wrong???? Any Ideas? Do I need to update to OS X 10.7. (desktop version)?
    Thanks

For the upgrade approach, first determine if your current (presumably Xserve?) server supports OS X 10.8 (client), then (if so) purchase OS X 10.8 (client), then purchase and install Server.app.  The OS X client upgrade will leave the server bits alone, and the Server.app server installation should detect the server bits and upgrade them.
One or more backups are strongly recommended.
The other approach is a new server, and migrating individual service settings and data manually.  This is far more work.

  • ECC upgrade impact on BI

    Hi Gurus,
We are currently on BI7 but the R/3 version is 4.7. The R/3 is going to be upgraded to ECC6 shortly. I know this is going to have an impact on BI7 since some of the tables & fields are going to be standard, which might have been customized earlier. Can u give suggestions on the impact on BI and what care needs to be taken from a BI perspective during the ECC upgrade. Also, any doc or pointers which talks about such impact on BI. Points will be awarded accordingly. Thanks for the help in advance.
    Ud

    Hi,
the following are the activities that I can think of Pre- and Post ECC Upgrade on the BI box.
    Pre-Upgrade
    - ensure that the Delta queue is cleared in RSA7
    - check the PI in ECC6.0
    - stop all loads from BW
    Post-upgrade
    - run Init w/o Data Transfer for deltas
    - check extraction for full & delta loads
    - replicate all data sources in ECC
    - activate all rules thru programs
Other than this, is there any other activity a BW consultant has to do. Also, would it make any difference to our upgrade approach if the BW system is BW3.5 or BI7? our system is on BI7 currently.
Additionally, what SAP Notes will have to be applied pre and Post ECC upgrade.
Would the ECC upgrade have any impact on BI Unicode conversion?
Also, I am still worried about the change to Data Sources post-upgrade to ECC as we have a lot of customization. how do i find out which fields in the Data Sources have been standardized in ECC?
Reponses highly appreciated and points duly awarded.

  • Regarding information on Upgrade Project

    Hi Experts,
I would like to know more details about Upgrade Project. What are the technical and functional tasks will be there in the process of Upgrade.
Please help me this because i'll be starting my work in Upgrade Project in another 2 days.
    Thanks in advance
    Tanveer

    Hi,
first of all upgrade is nothing but
Upgrade is nothing but installing a new version of software which have more functionality earlier version.
    in Upgrade mainly three types
    1.Technical Upgrade
    2.Functional Upgrade
    3.Strategic upgrade
Technical upgrade : is a fast upgrade without additional functionality but with minor user interface changes, to ensure business continuity. This upgrade type includes a cleanup of the system without implementing additional functionality, as well as technology upgrade with the opportunity to eliminate not used modifications and custom developments.
Functional upgrade : Is built on the technical upgrade, the functional upgrade provides in addition the opportunity to implement new functionalities in area like FI,HR,Logistics ..,this upgrade type also represents an opportunity to maximize the use of SAP standard functionalities by replacing custom modifications and consolidate instance or systems.
Strategic upgrade: Is driven by enterprise SOA to provide more flexibility to business process innovation. This type of upgrade approach represents a significant technology improvements step by leveraging SAP Net weaver functionality to standardize, adapt, and enable new business processes and optimized scenarios.
The major stages of a technical upgrade can be:
System preparation and stack level patch upgrade u2013 Basis Team
SPDD Phase u2013 ABAP and Functionals
Up gradation of the system u2013 Basis Team
SPAU Phase u2013 ABAP and Functionals
DBACOCKPIT for indexing u2013 ABAP TEAM
    Unicode check
    Issues during upgrade
For Further clarification in this regard, Do let me know.
Hope I have answered your query.

  • Database migration/upgrade from Linux (10.2.0.3) to AIX (10.2.0.5)

We are migrating 120+ Oracle 10gR2 databases (10.2.0.1, 10.2.0.3 & 10.2.0.5) from 30+ physical Linux (RHEL 4.6 & 5) servers to an AIX 6.1 virtualized environment running on two new P770 servers. Our migration approach will be to use Datapump Export and Import as we are moving between platforms and 95% of the databases are 5-10 Gb in size, so long export/import times should not be an issue. We have access to IBM's Xenobridge migration tool, but will try to do most of the work manually to offset the tool's high license cost.
Our server team is in the process of creating our AIX image(s) and we are preparing for the Oracle software installation . My question relates to the Oracle 10gR2 patch level on the new target AIX servers as our client has asked about patching all migrated databases up to 10.2.0.5.
Can I simply install the 10.2.0.1 base software on the AIX server, apply patch 10.2.0.5 and follow-up patch p10248542 before importing?
Is my upgrade approach then to simply export the 10.2.0.1 or 10.2.0.3 databases on Linux using the lower version of the Export utility and import into a copy on the AIX server using the 10.2.0.5 Import utility?
Will the Import utility take care of the upgrade from 10.2.0.1 or 10.2.0.3 to the 10.2.0.5 level?
Do I have to perform a manual upgrade and should there be any outstanding issues specifically related to Daylight Savings Time operability?
    Here's my high level plan:
    1. Install 10gR2 on AIX server and patch to 10.2.0.5
    2. Export 10.2.0.3 database on Linux server using 10.2.0.3 Export utility
    3. Use DBCA on Linux server to create "database create" template and transfer this template to AIX server for later use
    4. Create "shell" database on AIX using DBCA on AIX server referencing template copied over from the Linux server
    5. Import 10.2.0.3 database export into 10.2.0.5 shell database
Just wondering if all the steps in the 10.2.0.5 patchset notes (Readme for 8202632) still apply when using the export/import approach?
All feedback and comments around missing steps would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Jeff

Your approach is correct - imp/exp (or impdp/expdp) will work. You can ignore the notes in 8202632. I would highly recommend that you perform a test upgrade first to validate, tweak as needed, and perfect your process.
