11g (11.2.0.3) : steps to take after reboot of system (asm grid ...)

Hi all,
I'm fairly new to oracle installation and the likes.
I have a setup in which Oracle 11g is installed on a virtual machine (vagrant - virtualbox) where i can succesfully install :
Grid software
Db software
Asm disks
database installation
After these steps, i can succesfully create & connect to databases.
Then, we package the virtual machine. This serves as a templates for a new virtual machine i bring up...
Here it begins...
I'm trying to find out what steps i should take so that eventually i can again connect to the database/users I created in previous step.
Already i found out that i need to :
* init oracleasm (/usr/sbin/oracleasm init)
* scan for my asm-disks (/usr/sbin/oracleasm scandisks)
which services should be started next (and how?), so that eventually my listener will be able to see again the databases/users I created ?
Thanks in advance,
kevin

In your scenario, I'd expect oracle restart to take care of that for you.  See the chapter "Configure Automatic Restart of an Oracle Database" in the Database Administrator's Guide.  Configuring Automatic Restart of an Oracle Database

  • What steps to take after a fresh cmos reset? 970 gaming

MSI 970 gaming mob, I reset the cmos afterwards i go into bios to check settings, what steps do i take next? do i load defaults and save or can i just exit w/o saving?

    Hi
Clearing CMOS is basically loading default settings. So you can either save and exit od change settings.
But one thing to make sure you do is to set correct boot order. Anything else doesnt matter much unless you do want to change anything.

  • Steps to take after option-click for second library for ex HD

Sorry to be such a safety nut, I asked this question in iTunes because the software iTunes library manager has an issue right now with iTunes 7.
I was going to get iPhoto manager but would prefer having the same routine for both.
I am trying to find if there is a apple link for instructions for creating a
second (multiple) iPhoto library. I do not want to do any kind of trial and error routine and lose anything.
I would like to make sure that all the prefs are there and that I can add songs to the second library only.
When I option - click a menu pops up stating create / exsisting , I hit the create and a blank iPhoto folder opened . Should it be exsisting ??
are there prefs that have to be changed
Will another menu ask where I want to store the second library ?
I can follow instructions but making changes on the fly scares me.

    Gregory:
To move a library to another drive/partition just click and drag the iPhoto Library folder and drag it to that partition.
If you have two libraries and are using them both, one more as a backup and viewing older photos or whatever, you can put the new photos in your working library on the boot drive, annotate them and whatever. Then when you're ready to retire them to the external HD library you can use iView Library Manager as Terence suggested to move albums or rolls to that library like this and keep the annotations intact.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Steps to take after interrupting Migration Assistant?

Earlier today I was 1/4 through migrating some files with Migration Assistant between two intel-based imacs via Wi-fi when a thunderstorm passed by and I felt compelled to shut the computers down. I quit Migration Assistant on the receiving computer first, sending computer second, and then shut both down. I have a few questions about this:
    1) What complications might this have caused?
    2) Is it possible to tell what files were transferred?
    3) If I used Migration Assistant to transfer the same categories, would the files that have already been transferred be overwritten?

Possibly no consequences depending upon what you were transferring at the time. If system files then the computer may not boot.
You cannot tell what hasn't or has been transferred.
Starting anew and allowing for completion shouldn't present any problem.

  • Steps to take after noticing scratches?

I have had the Ipod Nano for about 3 weeks and unwisely did not purchase a cover for the gadget. Now after regular use inside my pockets, I have noticed many scratches on the screen. Are these normal? Should I purchase a cover? How well do covers work after the screen has been scratched? Thanks for your advice. Josh

I have another suggestion. Use a small dab of "Nu Finish®" car polish. You can get a 16 oz bottle for about $3 at Walmart and most automotive stores. Sounds crazy, but I've used this stuff on badly scratched CDs and it works absolute miracles. Makes your CDs look brand new. I've also tried a tiny ammount on the Nano and it restored the surface perfectly. I used it with a folded paper towel, but I recommend using a polishing tool for the smoothest results, especially if the scratches are more than just hairline scratches.
Oh, and it works great on cars, too

  • HT1414 IPHONE 3GS Problems. Updated to IOS6 then says There are just a few more steps to take. Press Continue. Once pressed it says connect to itunes. So plugged the cable in and it does nothing and stays on that screen. How can he fix it?

Hi, My friend has just updated there 3GS to IOS6 and once it's done, 2 screens appear. first one says, Update complete, there are just a few more steps to take. Press continue and another screen comes up with the itunes symbol and the cable and says connect to itunes. Once plugged in, on itunes it reconises the phone and has the loading symbol up, but it doesn't loads anything and can't press anything. Anyone know why and how to resolve this?

The terms of service of the Apple Support Communities prevent us from helping anyone with a jailbroken phone.
You're on your own.  Good luck.

  • Apple loop index is empty folder!!! Can not find loop in logic browser because they just no longer exist on my hard drive, what would be the new appropriate step to take?

Apple loop index folder is empty from the hard drive, which may explain why i can not find loop in my logic pro browser, just sort of grey in disaabled format. what would be the next appropriate steps to take??? I do have an external back up disk.

The IDE interface that the iBook and your desktop use are the same, just a different plug size. So with the rite adapter you could put the iBooks drive in your desktop, you could even boot off it too.
If you want to install the laptops HD in your desktop this will do it for you. Or you can use the iBooks HD as an external hard drive with this

  • Please help as I do not know what to do or even what step to take next

I really need to solve this problem as I cannot receive mail in my Mail program except that each day one message—the same message—arrives. It comes from Mail Delivery System and the subject is Delivery Status Notification (Failure). No matter what time it arrives, it still has the date of 9/15 and the time of 8:39 AM. All other mail stays at Gmail and is not imported. This began I think when I opened one of those Mail Delivery System messages and it was completely blank, just one blank box.
In answering, please realize that I am not extremely computer-savvy.
I left a message here about my problem before (this weekend) but now cannot seem to find it. Do messages drop off?
    Thanks for any help.

  • HT2404 I am currently running OS 10.5.8    What is going to be my FIRST step to take to upgrade to an OS that will allow me to use iCloud?  I am an absolute novice!

I am currently running OS 10.5.8    What is going to be my FIRST step to take to upgrade to an OS that will allow me to use iCloud?  I am an absolute novice!
    thanks!

Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
Whilst Apple have withdrawn Snow Leopard from their stores, you can still get it from Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE (if you are in the USA) and they will supply the SL DVD for $20 for a single user, or $30 for a family pack that covers up to 5 Macs.  You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion from the same number (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:
    http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
If you are outside the US call your national Apple Helpline:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
If you're in the UK, use this number: 0871 508 4400
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
To use iCloud you have to upgrade all the way to Mountain Lion:

    Please Help!

If it happens again and the reset (home + power buttons) doesn't work, just let the battery drain; you'll know when the screen shuts off. Charge it back up and it should be fine. Frankly, I'm surprised this worked for you. Usually I hear people with this problem say that holding both buttons doesn't work, and they have to do the battery drain.
If the issue is incurable next time, you have a one-year warranty from the date of purchase.

  • Selling iPhone 2G, upgrading to 3G, steps to take?

    Hello all,
I am selling my iPhone 2G and upgrading to a 3G this week, and wanted to make sure I knew the proper steps to take before doing so. I know that I will need to restore the 2G for the new owner. What I'm curious about though, is how do I make sure I can get all of the information, apps, contacts etc. into my 3G? Thanks in advance for all of the help!

Sync your iPhone with iTunes, and also select iTunes > File menu > Transfer Purchases From... to move anything bought on the phone into iTunes. With the old phone, before you sell it, select Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings (that clears out the data on the phone, with a secure wipe assuming you are running v2.x), and remove the SIM card.
When you get your new phone, you'll have the option to set it up from the Backup of the old phone - do that. The only thing that does not transfer over are the passwords (network and voicemail - so you'll need to set those up again).

If it is within the warranty period, take it in to an Apple store genius bar for repair.

I am in the midst of setting up my new iPad Air, and the process seems to be stuck on "Updating iCloud settings..."  What is a reasonable time for this step to take?

Shouldn't take more than a few seconds to a minute.  If it's stuck, you might want to give Apple support a call to see if they are experiencing unreported server issues.  Since your device is new, you are within the 90-day free call support period.  You can set up the call here: http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/.  You will need your serial number, which is on the box and (I believe) the back of your iPad.
