11g Column Interactions

All,
I've got three things I'm trying to do in the tool and they're all acting weird, might be bugs, might not be.
1. When I disable the column interaction for a header, it still shows up. The only way it doesn't showup is if I disable the interaction on the value.
2. When I add an action on a value, it always shows the popup even if I select the 'Do not display in a popup if only one action link is available at runtime'.
3. When I add an action on a hiearchy column's level, I can go to another report, but it doesn't filter the target report at all. From what I'm reading, this is the default behavior; I worked around it by putting the same level's attribute column and adding the action to it instead. I put the target report's column as prompted for both the hierarchy column and the attribute column.
If anybody has worked on these things and got them to work, please let me know as I'd greatly appreciate any insight.

on 1 & 2 - I have this kind of 'sticky' behaviour - in one case I only managed to clear it by deleting the entire report and starting over, but less extremely I have found deleting the offending column and then re-adding it usually works...
On 3, the only time I have got drill down to work is either; -
1. By basing the target on the same data source as the originating report - i.e. using aggregation and omitted columns which are present in later columns - you usually have to put prompts on the relevant target column (is prompted) for this to work.
2. By using go_url when drilling between disparate data sources, which is rather more work but does what it says on the tin once you get your head around its strange syntax.

In 11g unlike 10g the Interaction tab is disabled at graphs.
You can add it globally (column level)

ADF Tree 11g column 100% to fit the avilable space in af:panelCollection

Hi All,
I want to stretch the tree column to fit all the available space in af:panelCollection. I ve changed its InlineStyle to width:100% but its is suggesting to use StyleClass to AFStretchWidth. I tried both the options but didn't achieve desired output.
Any hint or suggestion will be highly appreciated.

Hi All,
I have tried various options but in vain.
A clarification is that I have a page having ADF query panel with tree table. I don't want to show the other columns in the result. Just tree is enough to display the contents.
I want to maximize the tree column to fit into the available space of af:panelCollection.
Option 1. I set the styleClass to AFStretchWidth for af:column of the ADF tree. It didn't work.
Option 2. I encapsulated af:column of the tree into the f:center facet of af:panelStretchLayout and set af:panelStretchLayout styleClass to AFStretchWidth. The af:column of the tree disappeared. No output.
Option 3. I encapsulated af:treeTable into the f:center facet of af:panelStretchLayout. It is giving error that af:panelStretchLayout is not a valid child of af:panelCollection, so it also didn't work.
Option 4. I encapsulated af:panelCollection into the f:center facet of af:panelStretchLayout. It also didn't work.
Any thing I am missing ... Any other option to try out.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

11g : column fornula as a SQL query

While creating a report in 11 g and choosing columns from the subject area, I see that we can edit the column formula.
Is it possible to specify a SQL query in the column formula.?

No, it's not possible.
If you want to use specific sql you can use the EVALUATE function

Parent Child Hierachy Drilldown (without including the hierachy column)

I have a hierarchy with categories/subcategories, which goes into a table like this:
Category Name Amount
Top cat1 23
Top cat2 5
I want to use the Category Name column to drill down to the sub categories, so that if I click "Top cat1", the table will look like this:
Category Name Amount
Sub cat1-1 23
Sop cat1-2 5
The "Drilldown" option for the actionlink in column interactions doesn't do anything for this hierarchy, and by trial and error we worked out that it only seem to work with level-based hierachies (but in a warped way. It adds an additional column for every level!).
Trying to use an actionlink doesn't work too, since there's no good way of passing the clicked category ID to set as the parent ID of the next page.
Using a GoLink URL did work, BUT navigating to a completely new page doesn't fit our requirements.
Is there a way for us to do this? Thanks!

Thanks Dpka, I did exactly that, there is a small issue. Let's say my hierarchy is (I have just dded one more level under David). So James and Terry reports to Thomas and Thomans reports to David.

----Thomas(65)
------James(25)
------Terry(30)
David is the top level and Thomans the next level. Now when I click on David, it takes me to the target report and shows me the revenue as expected but when I click on either Thomas, James or Terry, it doesn't take me to the target report. At the bottom left it shows me an error. This is what the error is
Message: 'getLevelInfo(...)' is null or not an object
Line: 1
Char: 11142
Code: 0
URI: http://wmdwm100a.midlandls.int:7001/analytics/res/b_mozilla/answers/selectionsmodel.js
So It is working only for the top level managers whose doesn't have any anscestor. Any ideas why is tha so?

GO URL in 11g

I was implementing go url code in obiee11g, as implement in 10g. Formula wise, it is correct. But it is throwing the following error, when i ran the dashboard.
"HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. [nQSError: 17001] Oracle Error code: 25137, message: ORA-25137: Data value out of range at OCI call OCIStmtFetch. [nQSError: 17012] Bulk fetch failed. (HY000)"
Please can anyone help me to resolve the issue? is go url in 11g has different method to follow?

Hi Dpka,
Thanks for the suggestion. Actually the problem was, the detail report has large amount of data. After passing all the presentaion variables in go url, the error vanished. But still go url is not working.
It is built on graph. And the option HTML format is missing in 11g column properties -> data format tab. Is there any way to enable this? And go url on graphs will work out? have so many hurdles to achieve..

Exclude column from ir in single row view

Hi Folks,
my prob: I have a very long long column (url) in my ir. In my report view I want to show it shortended and in my single row view I want to show the whole value.
So my query looks like:
select long_url, substr(long_url, 1, 30)||'...' short_url
from something;
Then I exclude the long_url column interactively with the "select columns" option in the Actions menu and save the report as standard.
Now my ir shows only the short_url in the report view, what is ok. But in the single report view it show both long_url AND short_url.
I want to get rid of the short_url in single row view. Is there any way without creating a custom form page?

Can I use action link based on hierarchical column?

I used OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2.
And I want to know can I use action link based on hierarchical column? I want to show link based on some conditionally..
I try to add conditions, such as Department is equal to A, But after I added, it show me "Department is equal to", why?
Can anybody give me some hints?

Hi Anne,
It should work. How did you add the action link? .Click on the + icon on the hierarchical column in criteria tab, this will list all the columns in the hierarchy.Each column will have its own column properties. Click on the Hierarchy level properties of Department column ->Interaction tab and define your conditional action link.

Navigate to Web Page always opens a new window

Hi,
I am using action link "Navigate to Web Page" for column interaction. The source report is in a dashboard page and by clicking on this column should navigate to another dashboard page carrying some parameters.
It works fine but everytime it opens a new browser window for navigation. But my requirement is to make this navigation happen in the same browser window. Can anyone please help me with a solution on this?
My version of OBIEE is 11g.
The URL I am passing looks like this: http://localhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?Go&Path=/Shared/Test/target&Action=Navigate&col1=@{1}&val1=%22@{2}%22&op1=@{3}

Did you check to have the results to be 'embedded in section' in your dashboard section properties?

How to export a report data with a custom file name?

Env: OBIEE 11g Answers/Interactive Dashboards
I have a tabular report (built in Answers) and displayed in a Dashboard. I want to export the report data in csv format prefixed with the <OBIEE user login name>_<Name of the Report>_<current timestamp> on a certain folder.
Any ideas appreciated..

This does not help solve my problem.
Tabular Report->Place it in a section in a dashboard->Report Links (Export Option turned on). When doing the export, I want to change the file name as the <Login Name>_<File Name>_<Time Stamp>.csv when doing the export into csv from the dashboard.

ADF rich client: How to automate testing

Hi Experts,
We need to do some automate testing against application that is developed with ADF Faces 11g, I've tried with loadrunner 8.1, which provides 2 approaches to record web applications, web(html / http) and web(click / script).
According to my experiment and this article , it's not feasible to record actions to rich client app with the first protocol.
As for the second one, according to my test, some of actions works and the others not (for example, input field, expand accordion).
My question is, Is there a solution to fully automate adf 11g UI interactions? Solutions based on loadrunner is preferred.

Sorry I didn't make my question clear. Selenium does fit in AJAX well, but seems that it lacks of ability to do stress test, what if we need highly concurrent workload(say, 5000 users)? Can selenium RC or some tools else generate that?
And, are you sure that loadrunner 8.1 is not feasible to do stress test against ADF rich client apps? I need a good reason to persuade my bosses to consider adopting new tools.

Problem with passing dashboard prompts

I have a problem with passing dashboard prompts.
Scenario:
I have a report with country(column interaction),amount sold and two prompts.when the user selects the particular country, i need to navigate to other detailed dasboard with 2 prompts and country.
with the column interaction, am able to navigate to other dashboard with all the prompts only when the target dashboard prompts, defaults to presentation variable.
but when the user directly opens the target dashboard, i have to display the report with the default values which am not able to achieve.
All the prompts are customized prompts.
Any suggestions would be greatly helpful.

Hi,
When you drill down, corresponding filter values get added to your report. So next time when you change the prompt values It does not give you proper data.
So before you change the prompt values, you comeback to the default report. and try changing the prompt values.
Otherwise you can do one thing, Do not enable drill in place for the report section. So when you try to drill down in the report, it takes you to the new page.
And in the main page even if you change prompt values, It will work perfectly.

I'm JS illiterate, need help getting an Acrobat form to work like the Excel file I made it from.

I am tasked to put together a purchase order request form and it has to be in PDF format.
I originally built it in Excel, and after a day and a half of googling, I finally came upon the formula(s) that make 2 of columns interact the way I want them to.
Column A ("Line Item Number") triggers its corresponding cell in Column C ("Obligate/Deobligate") in the following way:
If the A cell is blank, its corresponding C cell diplays "O/D"
If the A cell has a number entered into it which is the same as any cell above it, the corresponding C cell displays "Deobligate"
If the A cell has a number entered into it which is different than every cell above it, the corresponding C cell displays "Obligate"
The formula I used, starting in the second C cell is:
=IF(A2="","O/D",IF(COUNTIF(A1:A1,A2),"Deobligate","Obligate"))
And it changes down the column ending at the 23rd C cell with:
=IF(A23="","O/D",IF(COUNTIF(A1:A22,A23),"Deobligate","Obligate"))
Will this even translate into Javascript? And if it does, I assume that I would paste the script into the "Calculate" portion of the form field properties, is this correct?
Also, (I realize I'm asking a lot), if the correct code is fast and easy for someone here to whip up, I would appreciate it, since as I said before, I really don't know the first thing about JS, or coding in general.

Yes, it should be a custom calculate script. Here's a sample one below. It assumes the fields are named "A1", "A2", ..."A23". You will have to change the value of the "row" variable for each script, which is currently set to 2, meaning it should go in the A2 field. This really should be a function in a document-level JavaScript to it can be called by passing the row number or extracting it from the value of event.target.name, but it should get you started. Note that I didn't test it, so it might need some tweaking:

So, i write some found bugs and some needed features here:
Bug: "If we change a password for a user and the default language is for example german, than we get a "invalid time format failure".
Features needed:
Workspace user authentication - possible with LDAP? - need it earlier - (workaround-how to?)
Charting - need more than 10 labels shown in interactive Report chart, or how i can change the size of the chart?
Tabularform - change one column interacts with changing another (in UI) - doesnt work at the moment?

I was mostly addressing Kathleen's questions, and my experience with Macs suggests that a lot of programs are updated by supplying a new stand-alone application rather than applying code to an existing one, though the latter is how many other Adobe apps are updated.
Macs will generally open the newest application if you double click on a file that's set to be opened by a specific app. If you click on the app's icon in the Dock, whatever version you have in the Apps folder will launch, regardless of being renamed.
Also, one can drop, say, LR [1.4.1] into the apps folder say yes to overwriting the previous version, and the Dock link will open the new one. However, if you've renamed Lightroom to Lightroom 1.3.1, this will not occur, and the two apps will live side by side.
